Can any one please tell me the differences between Stream and Reader

Difference between streaming and chunking

Hi,
I am working in a secure proxy project. Already we implemented chunking funcionality. Chunking meas when client accessing a big file- no need to wait until the total page downloaded(we generally observe status bar to say request is in processing). Depending on the specified chunked size, output will display onto client browser in chunks...
Now the requirement is to implement streming....
But we r not sure..what is the exact difference between Streaming and chunking.....Will any one give some inputs or ideas....

What is the difference between SWF and F4V in the context of Streaming or progressive Download?

Hello everybody,
I am absolutely a beginner in working with Captivate and furthermore my technological know how is not that good.
So, I have problems to understand if the export formats SWF and F4V are both capable to be published in the Internet as streaming video and as progressive Download? Well so, I do not really understand the difference between streaming and progessive download either?
Furthermore I was asking myself if this issue depends on how I imported flash videos (there are these two options) in my Captivate project during the production phase?
I would be very thankful for some helping information!

I'm not certain I fully understand the differences myself, but will toss out what I believe to be true about the formats. Hopefully, if I'm incorrect in my bellief, someone with more definitive knowledge will chime in.
It was explained to me a couple of years back and is my understanding that "streaming" only applies to a video based format such as F4V, FLV and it doesn't apply to SWF. With SWF, you may specify a preload value. So when the SWF transmits from the web server to the PC, a certain percentage has to be received before play begins. But that's not streaming. It's preloading.
For streaming to occur, the web server establishes a communication channel between the server and the destination PC. This channel is monitored to see what speed is in use. Only enough information is then transmitted to be comfortable at that speed. If the speed improves during the connection, the server serves data at a faster rate. If the connection degrades, the information transmitted is also scaled back so as to accommodate the lower speed.
With SWF, after it has all been downloaded, a savvy user is able to poke around in their temporary internet files and save the SWF for play later. With streaming, this isn't possible because as the stream is viewed, it evaporates from memory.
Seriously hoping others will chime in here to confirm or deny this.

Difference between "Web" and "Streaming"

Can anyone tell me what the difference between Web and Streaming is when exporting a Movie from iMovie? I know they both go on a webpage but why are there two options?

True streaming media is not cached on the viewing machine. No cache means nothing to save as a new file. You can only save a "reference" to the source file stream.
Media Links (very cool feature rarely used by most users) make a .qtl file. This is also just a reference movie (very tiny file size) but can include many features found (usually) in the Pro upgrade of QuickTIme and/or AppleScript and Automator Action features.
Using Media Link files will allow you to add "Presentation" playback features to your QuickTime file (Full Screen, close when done, etc). You can add a "link" inside your QuickTime file so when the image is clicked a Web page would open. One of mine as an example:

You'll notice the file will download (0.3KB's) then launch QuickTime Player and play full screen. Click on the movie to learn more.

IDocs are simple ASCII data streams. When they are stored to a disk file, the IDocs are simple flat files with lines of text, where the lines are structured into data fields. The typical structured file has records, each record starting with a leading string that identifies the record type. Their specification is stored in the data dictionary.
Electronic Interchange Document
IDocs is the acronym for Interchange Document. This indicates a set of (electronic) information which builds a logical entity. An IDoc is e.g. all the data of a single customer in your customer master data file, or the IDoc is all the data of a single invoice.
Data Is transmitted in ASCII format, i.e. human readable form
IDoc data is usually exchanged between systems and partners that are completely independent. Therefore, the data should be transmitted in a format that can easily be corrected by the computer operators. It is therefore mandatory to post the data in a human readable form.
Nowadays, this means that data is coded in ASCII format, including numbers which are sent as a string of figures 0 to 9. Such data can easily be read with any text editor on any computer, be it a PC, Macintosh, UNIX System, S/390 or any internet browser.

The information which is exchanged by IDocs is called a message and the IDoc is the physical representation of such a message. The name messages for the information sent via IDocs is used in the same ways as other EDI standards. .

I want to know the difference between FileInputStream and DataInutStream.As i am new to this environment i am little bit confused between the two. So i request you to explain the difference with an example so that everything will be clear for me.

FileInputStream is for reading bytes from a file, as is indicated in the API docs: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/io/FileInputStream.html
DataInputStream is for reading java primitives (byte, char, short, int, long, float, double, boolean) through some other stream, as is indicated in the API docs: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/io/DataInputStream.html
If you want to read Java primtives from a file, you'd use them together: FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream("somefile"); // for reading bytes from the file
DataInputSeam dis = new DataInputStream(fis); // for interpreting bytes read by fis as Java primitives

Help me clarify: Difference between Joining and Extending Wireless Network

I've eventually figured out how to get my AirPort Express to allow my Mac Pro access to the internet Via Ethernet cable by joining an existing wireless network. What's the difference between that and extending it? By extending it I loose my ability to use the ethernet to connect to internet on my Mac Pro. Odd thing is though when I initially used AirPort Utility to set up my AirPort Express, I went through all the options to get it configured to access my existing network and I checked option to allow internet access through ethernet. All is well, but then I still don't have access to the internet through the ethernet and I noticed that the setting is on Extended. Just curious why it would give me the option to use the ethernet, set it on extended and not even work.

When "joining a network," the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) acts just like any other wireless client (laptop, desktop, printer, etc.) You would want to configure the AX to join a network when you only want to use it to share a USB printer and/or stream iTunes.
When "extending a network," the AX can perform as either a main, relay, or remote base station in a Wireless Distribution System (WDS). A WDS is primarily used to extend a network wirelessly.
By extending it I loose my ability to use the ethernet to connect to internet on my Mac Pro.
If the AX is configured as either a relay/remote base station in a WDS, you actually can use it's Ethernet port for Internet access. Of course, this relay/remote must be connected to a main base station, that itself, has Internet access.

Mountain Lion is an enhanced version of previous OS X and so that is Mavericks.
About upgrading it all depends on what your needs are and if your hardware supports it.
