    Hi,
I have a pc with windows XP Home edition installed on it. I want to remove windows
and install sun solaris on it. I don't have a floppy drive on my laptop pc.
My question is, when I remove windows and do i need bootable disc to install sun solaris ?
again, I have only CD drive.
What are the problems involved on that ?
    Thanks in advance.

again, I have only CD drive. As long as your machine is supported and supports CD booting then you should have no issues.
    Check the HCL first.

  • Difference between Sun solaris UltraSPARC and Sun solaris Intel(X86)

    Hi,
We have built our application on Sunsolaris Intel(X86) .But one of my client has Sun Fire v240 (but Sunfire uses Ultra SPARC processors)
is there any problem (related to JRE problem)for running that application on Sunfire

If its a java program it should work on both platforms, as long as the java version is the same (or later) as the one you used to build your application.

  • BEA Tuxedo and Sun Solaris V2.6 C++ Compiler V5.0 Problem

    Hi Friends,
We are having problem with Tuxedo servers compiling/build using the Sun Solaris V2.6 Workshop C++ compiler V5.0. The Tuxedo servers do not boot up. The servers hang in tpopen() ATMI call. We used dbx to determine this.
The same code when build using C compiler works fine. It seems that C++ Compiler V5.0 has some trouble with BEA Tuxedo. We even tried compat=4 option which creates V4.0 compatible object library. It also does not get us thru.
Is anyone using this compiler for BEA tuxedo development?
Any help would be highly appreciated.

  • Difference between connection, session and process

    Hi all,
Can anyone please update me on the difference between connection, session and process.
    Thanks in advance,
    - Sri

I got this useful note by googled in net. It describes session, connection, process gracefully.
A connection is a physical circuit between you and the database.A connection
might be one of many types -- most popular begin DEDICATED server and SHARED
server. Zero, one or more sessions may be established over a given connection
to the database as show above with sqlplus. A process will be used by a session
to execute statements. Sometimes there is a one to one relationship between
CONNECTION->SESSION->PROCESS (eg: a normal dedicated server connection).
Sometimes there is a one to many from connection to sessions (eg: like
autotrace, one connection, two sessions, one process). A process does not have
to be dedicated to a specific connection or session however, for example when
using shared server (MTS), your SESSION will grab a process from a pool of
processes in order to execute a statement. When the call is over, that process
is released back to the pool of processes.

  • Difference between connection pooling and simple connection

Anybody please tell me what is the Difference between connection pooling and simple connection and also where we define connection pooling and how.
    Thanks
    Please reply soon
    amitindia

Creating and closing connection to the database is a relatively slow process. Equally connections use database resources so you can't just open as many as you want.
A connection pool maintains a number of open connections throughout the lifetime of the application. Instead of opening and closing the connections your application just "borrows" them from the pool when they're needed.
If the pool runs out of connections it will usually create new ones as needed until you reach some predefined upper limit.
A good connection pool will also manage connections which have failed for any reason, and report code which fails to return connections to the pool (ie connection leaks).
The number of connections created at startup is referred to as the "low water mark" and the maximum number that the pool will allow to be opened at any given time is the "high water mark". If no connections are available client code will generally block until one is released.
If by "defined" you mean where can you get a working implementation then your database or application server vendor is likely to provide one. Also the Apache Jakarta Commons includes [url http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/dbcp/]an implementation which you can use with any JDBC driver.

  • Difference if connecting to external digital receicer via mono to RCA cable and coaxial ca

Please tell the difference if connecting from Audigy 2 ZS to external digital receicer via (/8 inch) mono to RCA cable and coaxial cable (from front panel with SPDIF out/in).
Where can i get this /8 inch mono to RCA cable? I dont find it listed in the accessories of creative website.
    Thanks

There is absolutely no difference as far as sound quality goes, as both are digital connections. You can buy a minijack-to-RCA cable at radio shack or any similar store. Just ask for a cable to connect an iPod to a home stereo; this is the same adaptor that you need.

  • Differences between AIX and Windows for SAP

    Dear All,
I have a problem regarding SAP Software. We want to change our company software .First we order SAP On Windows with Oracle10g But Now We want SAP on AIX with Oracle10g.
SAP delivered us software on Windows platform.
Please Suggest me for this as what are the differences between the above two platforms and what are the differences between the above 2 platforms.
    Regards,
    Pankaj Kalsayan

    hi Pankaj,
well, this is a very general question. perhaps you could specify a little more.
in general i would see no difference regarding the end user sitting in front of his pc using sapgui.
as far as i know all server side sap software is available for aix and windows (and many more).
for administration on the other hand there is of course lots of difference. AIX is a UNIX operating system running on special hardware with power processors. it offers quit extensive virtualisation abilities using so called LPARs and supports real big number of CPUs and large RAM. Windows is a completly differnet operating system running mostly on x86/amd64 hardware.
therefore you should also consider what know-how is available in your system administration.
not shure if that is partly answering your question ...
btw. if you are going forward with AIX you should perhaps consider switching oracle with db2. so you have a consistent IBM based landscape. also to me, sap and db2 seem to "like" each other more than sap and oracle

    martin

  • DB connect with as/400 db2 and aix db2

    Hi,
We are implementing a connection with AS/400 IBM platform with DB2 400 (DB4) and OS400 like operating system. We are using DB-Connect to
extract data from a DB2 Database to BW (operating system AIX and DB2 UD6 - Sap Netweaver 2004).
We follow all the steps provided in SAP help to
configured the Connections. We created the source system for DB-Connect. In BW when we try to select tables and views with right button option the system gets this error " The current ABAP program "RSDL_META_UPLOAD" had to be terminated because one of the statements could not be executed".
The connection fails, and can't establish it.
    Someone knows about this topic?
    There are other options?
    I would appreciate your help.
    Regards,
    Victoria

    Hi,
For extract data with DB connect in BW from  AS/400-DB2(DB4) to aix-db2, BW write a wrong abap code.
For this reason the solutions are:
Write a funtion module with abap and native SQL for db2 (EXEC SQL) or Change the application server to windows.
    Regards,
    Victoria

  • Connection between AIX and NT based Oracle

    Hi There,
I am encountering the following errors while connecting between two Oracle 8.1.5 databases i.e AIX to Windows NT 4 service pack 4 (Note. Windows NT has got Personal Oracle 8.1.5) :
    1. TNS-3505 error is coming while try to connect from AIX to NT.
    2. ORA-12514 and ORA-12154 while trying to connect from NT to AIX. Mind it, setting up the TNSNAMES on NT didnt give any problem.
Is there any one out there to help me out.
    Thanks in Advance

  • Difference Between connect and connector steps

    Hi All,
What is the difference between connect step and connector step in a workflow?
    Thanks
    Narendra

    Hi Narendra,
Connect: Connects the two steps. These two steps are on the same page of MS visio.
Connector: Connects the two steps of WF if these two steps are on different pages of MS visio, as in case of a huge WF design you can use multiple pages of visio. This is why we have only one point of connection at this icon. It automatically connects the step connected to it to the first step on the next page.
    Hope this is clear.

    Dheeraj.

  • Connection Failed when File Sharing and High CPU Usage

I have a small wired network where a G5 Tower (10.5.8) has an external drive connected via FW800 set as shared so it can be accessed from a C2D iMac (10.6.4). This has been working great since it was setup in Feb.
Today the iMac was unable to access the G5. It didn't show either the Public folder on the G5 or the shared FW drive. When clicked it showed "Connection Failed." Immediately the G5 spun up to 100% CPU usage. Activity monitor showed AppleFileServer as the culprit, and when quit, resumed to normal usage.
Same happens when trying to access the G5 from a Mac Mini (10.5.8)
Once the iMac gave a warning of something like: "Failed to connect because there are too many users." Which is rubbish because no one was connected or could connect, and this was verified in the Sharing Pref Pane.
I've tried restarts, disk repairs off a boot disk, and enabling / renabling File Sharing. The G5 can connect to the other macs, and they to each other, just not to the G5.
Anyways, any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

So somehow I got the computers to connect to the G5 with file sharing. I went through a bunch of steps, and not really sure what worked.
I believe it had something to do with the 'Public' user folder only being listed in the file sharing pane, instead of the User folder. Why that would also stop the shared external drive from being seen, I'm not sure.
