  • Difference between S60 and S60 3rd Edition

    Hello.
This is not so much bout updating the phone's software but more about the phone's Operating system itself so hope this is in the right place.
I have an N91 that comes with Symbian S60 3rd Edition. I wanted to install a screen reader so that I can use all the features of this phone (as I'm partially sighted) but it just would not install. Not sure whether this had something to do with unsigned applications, but that's another issue.
I looked on the website and i think it did mention something about the application only being compatible with Synbian S60 phones and not S60 erd Edition. So my question is, how different are the two versions of the operating system? I'm more of a PC guy myself, so in PC terms would it be, say, the difference between Windows XP and 2000, built on the same basic foundation but with some differences, or say, the difference between Windows XP and 98, two totally different systems?
Also, how difficult would it be to migrate program code from an S60 platform to the 3rd Edition platform, and therefore how long roughly would you say it would be before the application could be released?
Finally, is there such a thing as an S60 emulator, so maybe I could run the screen reader in S60 mode until an S60 3rd edition version comes out? The emulator question would also hold for he fact that I want to be able to run some applications I used to run on my Nokia 6630 (Symbian S60) on my N91.
Thanks in advance for your help, and sorry for the long post and many questions. I guess I'm just so excited at finally having this new phone i want to make the most of it lol.

Hi and thanks for your reply. sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I am just doing this more for a hobby than as a 'proper' project, as I doubt I'd actually get anywhere- and if I did it'd probably be a fluke. I'm going to download all the SDK's so I can at least get the actual code of the program, as at the moment it's just in its .sis form. then maybe I can at least see where the changes are, and any transformation into an S60 3rd Edition (or is it S9.1?) is just good luck I guess.

    Hey Roberth,
Aside from the installed Golf software the phones are both the same. The Golf software will be available for other S60 3rd edition devices in the the near future according to the S60 podcast with the developer.

Same with an N73, so it's not just the N80 that is not compatible with the AD-41.
N73 is fully compatible, all you need to do to make the buttons work is plug the pop port without the 3.5 headphone jack connected to it. As soon as the phone recognize the headset, that is the time to plug in the 3.5 jack. Good luck!!!

What's the difference between Java SDK and the Enterprise Edition? Are they both free?

both r free but they are used in diffrent applications. sdk are used for simple apps that run on your computer while j2e (enterprise edition) are ment for large distributed computer systems that include servers and such. if you don't know the diffrence you probably wont need the the j2e, only the sdk.

  • Difference Between Enterprise and Personal Editions?

    Hi All,
I want to install Oracle 9i on Window XP Pro. I am wondering what is the difference between the Enterprise Edition and the Personal Edition? Do they both come with the Enterprise Manager clients that I am used to using?
    Any advice much appreciated.

    Hi Alex,
You can get the information from the "doc" directory in the "disk1". If case you do not have it, I had copy it here for you. Hope it can help you to know more about the differences before choosing which one to install. I too have the tough time deciding until I came across this information.
Enterprise Edition: If you select this type, Oracle Universal Installer installs a preconfigured seed database, networking services, licensable Oracle Options, database environment tools, the Oracle Enterprise Manager framework of management tools, including Console, Management Server, and Intelligent Agent, Oracle utilities, and online documentation. It also installs those products most commonly used in data warehousing and transaction processing environments.
Standard Edition: If you select this type, Oracle Universal Installer installs a preconfigured seed database, networking services, Oracle Enterprise Manager framework of management tools, including Console, Management Server, and Intelligent Agent, and Oracle utilities.
Personal Edition: If you select this type, Oracle Universal Installer installs the same software as the Enterprise Edition installation type, but supports only a single user development and deployment environment that requires full compatibility with Enterprise Edition and Standard Edition.

  • N93 and Active on O2 UK

Hi - is anybody using an N93 on O2 in the UK? I noticed that it isn't sold by O2 (now, although some other website suggested it was for a while?!). Anyway, I'm trying to use their WAP service O2 Active. Although all the settings seem correct I only get the basic, text version of the pages, rather than the all-singing-all-dancing, colour versions with other models (such as the N80). I presume that this is because O2 detect it's an N93 and it isn't supported. But has anybody got O2 Active working properly on an N93?
    Thanks

Having the same problem on my N93 O2 customer service had no Ideas as the N93 is not surported by them

  • HT2523 What is the difference between Pages and Text Edit? Pros and Cons?

I just purchased a Macbook Pro, and I am currently exploring its features. I see that it comes with Text Edit, which seems to be its form of Microsoft Word...but I also know that you can purchase "Pages" for the computer. What is the difference? Pros and cons of each? I will be a freshman in college in the fall, so I need something that I can do lots of writing and editing on.

TextEdit is a simple basic text editor. Far from what MS Word can do. This is Pages:

    Hi Nishant Arora,
Modify: It works in performing two actions.
    They are: Insert + Update.
For Example If a record that is exited in database, so you are modifying that record, it updates that particular record.
Similarly, If the is not existed in the database, you are modifying it, it inserts a new record.
Update: Update means just it updates the status, I mean it only updates the record. It doesn't inserts any new record if that particular record is not present in the database.
These are the cases you need to write these statements.
    Syntaxes: :

  • Can Oracle be forced to use the spatial index for sdo_filter in combination with an or clause? Difference between Enterprise and SE?

We’re seeing the following issue: sql - Can Oracle be forced to use the spatial index for sdo_filter in combination with an or clause? - Stack Overflow (posted by a colleague of mine) and are curious to know if this behaviour is due to a difference between standard and enterprise, or could we doing something else wrong in our DB config.?
We have also reproduced the issue on the following stacks:
Oracle SE One 11.2.0.3 (with Spatial enabled)
    Redhat Linux 2.6.32-358.6.2.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu May 16 20:59:36 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
11.2.0.3.0 Standard Edition and 11.2.0.4.0 Standard Edition (both with Spatial enabled)
Microsoft Windows Server 2003R2 Standard x64 Edition
However, the SQL works fine if we try it on Oracle 11.2.0.3.0 *Enterprise* Edition.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
    Kindest Regards,
    Kevin

In my experience sdo_filter ALWAYS uses the spatial index, so that's not the problem. Since you did not provide the explain plans, we can't say for sure but I think yhu is right: Standard Edition can't use the bitmap operations, and thus it'll take longer to combine the results of the two queries (because the optimizer will surely split this OR up in two parts, then combine them).
BTW: when asking questions about queries here, it would be nice if you posted the queries here as well, so that we do not have to check another website in order to see what you are doing. Plus it will probably get you more answers, because not everyone can be bothered to click on that link. It would also have been nice if you had posted your own answer on the other post here as well, because my recommendation would have been to use union all - but since you already found that out for yourself my recommendation would have been a little late.

  • What is the difference between #variable_name and :variable_name?

    Hi!
What is the difference between #variable_name and :variable_name?
I have found that if we use alphanumeric variable then :variable_name return value in quotes but #variable_name without quotes.
Why it does not work in the same way for variable default values when variable is used in filter? (It works in mapping)
I use variable in filter like T.OUT_DATE>convert(datetime,:LAST_UPDATE_DATE,121)
When I use my variable in package and do refresh it works fine. But when I try to execute the same interface with variable default value I get error. Seems that variable name has been not changed to the value. It does not work with default value in quotes neither without quotes.
Any ideas how to solve that?
    Thank you in advance!

Question is how to make it work with default value, when I execute interface standalone, not in package? And why it works in mapping but not in filter?
+ I have found that it works if source is Oracle. It doesn't work only for MS SQL source.
