Different Apple ID (incomplete) when updating.

I am signed into the App Store with the correct Apple ID. However, when I go to update my apps, I am presented with an incomplete Apple ID that is greyed out so I cannot change it. For example, [email protected] is the Apple ID when logged into the store. The ID that is presented (greyed out) for updating is just username. Any suggestions appreciated. Thank you.

This happened to me also. I'm sure it was after I updated to IOS 8. After much searching I finally just deleted the app that needed updating, then reinstalled it. Installing shows the correct ID and didn't have any issues. After that, updates on the re installed app worked fine.

That's the ID that was used for the purchase. ALL purchases are permanently associated with whatever Apple ID was used to originally obtain them. Apps can not be updated without knowledge of that ID and, more importantly, its password. Apple IDs can not be merged and purchases can not be transferred from one ID to another.

Content rented anywhere else other than on a computer can only be watched on the device it is rented from. If you want to watch a rental on multiple devices, rent it from the computer.

Apps are forever tied to the AppleID used to download them.
Either use the ID & passcode used to download the app when
updating the app, or delete the app and redownload using your
AppleID. If the app in question is not free, you will have to pay

Unfortunately you've discovered too late how important it is to maintain an up-to-date backup of your iTunes library (and all other data of value). You could, before wiping the drive, have considered making use of a commercial data recovery service that could (albeit at considerable cost) have extracted your library from the hard disk, even if virus infected.
In the absence of that option, you will need to restore the content of your library from its original sources:
Depending on your location, you may be able to re-download any iTunes Store purchases that are still available on the Store
Likewise, most digital purchases from Amazon (including auto-rip copies of purchased CDs) should be available from the Amazon Cloud and via the Amazon Music application - the same may be true of other commercial sources for digital downloads

The specific situation that you describe regarding the music imported from your friend's external HDD suggests that either the source is badly organized and/or originates from a source other than iTunes (other media players may use alternative tags for information like artist, title, album, etc. that are not wholly consistent with how iTunes handle these). Apps can be re-downloaded, and you won't be charged again for a purchsased app as long as you use the same iTunes account to re-download the app that was used to purchase the app originally.
All apps - all paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the iTunes account that was used to download the apps. Apps cannot be transferred to or combined with another iTunes account.

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your iPhone. Only if you back up your phone manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Do this to move your phone to another computer:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your phone without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in iTunes and transferred your purchases.

To get your content back, connect again to the old computer and restore from the latest backup, then try the process described above.

Wrong Apple ID: How do I change the Apple ID prompt when Updating All Apps?

How can I change the (wrong) Apple ID from the password prompting dialogue when I am already signed in Apple Store with my own ID?
More details of my problem:
When I try the Apps' Update-All option in my iPod 4, the password dialogue prompts me with my girlfriend's Apple ID; YET, I AM signed in the Apple Store with MY own Apple ID.
I have already verified my ID under Settings/Store. I have also signed out, signing back in with my Apple ID, just in case. No problems there, for I DO sign in with my own ID ok. The problem is just the prompt dialogue for password, when I try to use the 'Update All' feature it prompts me for password with her ID, not mine.
If I go back to Apps and choose the Categories (or Top25) menu, at the bottom of the page, it shows me signed in (my Apple ID). If I try to update one Apps it will do ok. But if I try to Update All it will prompt me for password using her ID, waiting for me to type in HER password. I cannot change the Apple ID on that dialogue (static). If I use my password, it will return the "wrong password" dialogue.
How can I change the prompt for the Update All? What is going on here that I AM signed in but my iPod prompts me with her ID. My iPod is registered under my Apple ID. I have already tried the Hard reset by pressing Home and Power buttons simultaneously, to no avail. I am also using my own network to go Online. I am also with the latest OS in my iPod and my Mac's iTunes.

I downloaded a paid app "Imray Marine Rules and Signals v1.5" in the USA with my original account (Account1) then moved countries and needed to create a new Apple account (Account2). If I get 'Info' for the app, it is registered to Account1.
A new version 1.6 of the Imray app has now been released.
I have set up only Account1 on the iphone (settings - App Store) and both Account1 and Account2 in iTunes on my computer. My iphone always tells me there is 1 app to update. However, when I try to update this app on my iphone, I get asked for the password for Account2, then the download fails as it says I do not have a paid earlier version to update.
When I am logged into my computer iTunes as Account1 and try to update it on the computer iTunes, it says there are no apps to update (although my version of the app is definitely the old version).
When I search for the app in iTune Store, it tells me I have already downloaded version 1.6 of the app and the download button is grayed out.
If I temporarily delete the app from my iTunes then try to re-download, I am asked to purchase it again.
If I log into iTunes as Account2 then try to download it, I am asked to purchase it.
Any ideas? I feel I have tried every option and no success.

Its cause that app got to your library from your son purchasing it. So when he was signed into the apple iTunes store, he bought it. Your phone synced it over, and now to update it, it needs to be authorized on your phone using his password hence why it brings up his aplpe ID email.

The account name that I used when setting up my ipad 1 is not the same apple id as my account when I goto update an app. Yet when i goto my itunes and scroll down to the bottom where it says account name etc it shows the correct name there. I want to know how to be able to get rid of this apple id that appears with the wrong name. Your help would be deeply appreciated. Also could you be so kind as in to give me directions in laymens terms as I am new to this and its the iPad1 .

Go to settings and then to Store.
An apple ID is listed here. If it's the wrong one, simply tap and edit it.

Apple ID problems when updating in App Store

I have recently changed my email address.
I canged my details in Setttings, iTunes and App Stores, Account, Apple ID Summary and I have verified verified my new email address.
My old email address has been removed from my account
However when I try to update in the App store the defaultID is my previous email. It also doesnt recognise the password I used to have for that email/ID. SO Im unable to update any apps.
Any suggestions?

If this is on an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch then try logging out of your account on it by tapping on the id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on it.

We have 2 iPhones that share the same iTunes but have 2 different Apple ID s when I backed up and restored to one of the phones 5s it has my apps with my Apple ID. I want to change it so the apps have the other Apple ID. How do I do this??

No. You need to buy it for your Apple ID and for the other. You will have problems with updates

Different apple id shows for updates on mac for iPhoto and iMovie

Hi, on my Mac there are two updates available for iPhoto and iMovie however the update requires me to use my old apple ID which I no longer use. I have checked iTunes, iCloud and the App store and my current apple ID is used for all of them. I don't understand why my old apple ID keeps showing up, I can't sign out of it because it doesn't give me that option.
I'm really confused, please help me out!!!

Those applications have the old Apple ID stored inside them. It can't be changed without deleting them and then redownloading them from the desired Apple ID; in the case of preloaded applications, you may also need to contact Apple. This can be done by going to the Mac App Store main page and clicking on Support under Quick Links.

This may be a stupid question but my iPhone asks me for a password for every App I update unless I click Update All then it will only request my apple id once.
