Different Apple ID, same itunes?

I want us to share an itunes account so we can share apps but i want different apple IDs so we can back-up our phones separately and we are not sharing every single thing like reminders. Apple says my I can use two different IDs for cloud vs purchasing but I'd really like some BTDT input.
We have the one ID and even though it works fine I don't like it with the cloud. I don't like that both of our reminders and photos are automatically on both of our phones -but I want them in the cloud for back-up.

Apple has instructions on how to set up two iCloud IDs on your iPhones.  So you can set up the one iTunes account in Settings > Store so you have all of your purchases linked between the phones (or accessible, as the sense would be).  Then in Settings > iCloud, set up the account you want to use for your backup and syncing (and email).  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4895

No. Everything on your devices would be deleted.

  • Can I sync 2 apple tvs on different networks with same itunes account?

I read that you can sync up to 5 tv's with the same itunes library, but do all tv's need to be on the same network?
I've been able to successfully sync both apple tvs from my itunes account that's on my laptop. The first one works fine but the 2nd one keeps restarting itself while playing.
I'm not sure if it's me or the apple tv.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Think I have it now. 2 tv's in different locations and on different networks, laptop connected to tv 1 over network 1 works fine, no go with tv 2 with laptop connected over network 2.
Yes this could be an tv fault, you do however have the opportunity to check this. Swap over the 2 tv's if the problem moves with the tv it could be the tv, if it stays with the same network it could be the network.
I'm not so sure it makes any difference but I assume you have named the two tv's differently in itunes.

  • HT1420 Possibility to use 1 Computer - configured with 2 user accounts - each account uses a different Apple-ID for iTunes authorization ?

I wonder if it is possible to use 1 Computer (Macbook Pro)
    - configured with 2 (ore even more) user accounts (i.e. me + my kid)
    - and each user account has a different Apple-ID (account) for iTunes purchases & iTunes authorization ?
I woud think that is fine in terms of the underlying license agreement refereing to re-download purchased movies, shows, apps, etc.
However, it seams that there is that miraculous 90 days restriction, which I don't understand, and which allows me only to "authorise" the Computer under one or the other account. The switch is unfortunatelly only possible every 90 days ?!?
    Thanks anybody for help
    Oliver

The 90 day association doesn't stop you authorising an account, it only stops you from using another account for iTunes Match or automatic downloads or redownloading its past purchases : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627
There are a few methods listed on this page for how you could do it e.g. multiple user acounts, same iTunes but you having separate playlists, separate iTunes libraries : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495

  • Paradox? Two different apple ID, same e-mail.

    Hi all,
just to add my experience with multiple apple IDs. Recently i've noticed that i'm unable to receive iCal shared calendar from other icloud users, no matter if they are using a full iCloud account or an apple ID based on a third party provider. So i started investigating and here is my situation. I've two apple IDs:
one is with login (names are just for example), "paradox" and have for primary e-mail "[email protected]" the second have login "[email protected]" and since this one was created for icloud have "[email protected]" as primary e-mail.
So that means that... when i sign up with "paradox" from my iOS devices, i can receive iMessages and all the rest, both on my phone number AND at "[email protected]". BUT... "[email protected]" is also ANOTHER DIFFERENT apple ID at the same time. So... when somebody send me an iMessage or a calendar event, what will do the apple server? Will it try to deliver the content to both the apple ID? I tryied also to change the primary e-mail of "paradox" to an alias created on the "[email protected]" icloud account, but using alias is not allowed.
For absurd, if i try to manage my apple ID "paradox" from the apple ID account page, it propose me to change my ID to an e-mail address and of course it propose me "[email protected]" (which is the second account...) but since that is impossible to do, if i click on the button, nothing happens. I have no error in return, no nothing. Of course i don't want to create a gmail account just for handling this mess, but i think that this kind of intricated situation should be handled with some option like merging or whatever... I have an appointment with the online support anyway to show them this... paradox.

I've done some test with the technician and what we figured out is that i can receive calendar events only on the e-mail address i registered when i've created my mac.com account. After the introduction of mobileme and the ability to sign up also with a me.com domain i though that both e-mails, despite you were using me.com or mac.com were the same. But they are not. If you originally signed as mac.com for that account, there you can receive calendar event, otherwise they will arrive as attachment if you use another domain introduced later. Well that's my case which i bet it will not the case for somebody else. It's like me.com is just an alias for my mac.com original address account.
As i told before there is another thing that make me think that behind all, icloud is a mess: the fact that i've two apple IDs and they have different options for the security page. One has three question (my first old iTunes one)
but the one i created when i subscribed .Mac has just one question.
So: are they running two different "versions" for handling the apple IDs accounts? isn't an account supposed to be upgraded when you add more security options? I find all this absurd!

  • Different Apple IDs for iTunes and iCloud

As a legacy from MobileMe,  I have one Apple ID for iTunes (around 10 years old) that has all of my purchases, and another for iCloud (created later as a requirement of MobileMe) that has all the email, syncing, etc.  Apparently now I can't use Family Sharing because I am signed into iTunes and iCloud with different Apple IDs.
This has caused other issues as well for years, and I would like to once and for all have one Apple ID for both iTunes and iCloud.  What will happen if I start signing into iCloud with my original iTunes Apple ID?  I'm assuming I will lose the following:
-- Any email in the cloud
    -- All calendar info
    -- All notes
    Am I correct?
    Anything else I would lose?
Any way to avoid losing all this?
Is there a better way to solve this issue?
Thanks in advance for any help or insight.

  • Question on using a different Apple ID for iTunes

I have an established iTunes account that I used to download music, and purchase apps. My question is this: I recently purchased MobileMe. So I now want to use my MobileMe account with iTunes. But what will happen to my current songs, apps, etc, that I have used under my older iTunes account? Do I simply just logout from the older account and then login using the new MobileMe ID? Do I have to delete my apps from my iPhone? I know its kinda general. But any ideas would help. Thanks.

I am having a similar problem. I recently upgraded from an iPhone 4 to a 5S. I set up my new phone with a different Apple ID than the one I used on the old phone. I originally bypassed setting up iCloud and everything worked fine until I upgraded to the 8.0.2 OS. Suddenly, I was being asked for a password to an Apple ID that I don't remember setting up. I am pretty sure that I set up an iCloud account with this ID but have forgotten the password. Also, whenever I go through the process of trying to change the password my birth date is not recognized which means according to this ID I don't exist. The Apple ID I set up for the new phone works for the Apple Store and I am able to download upgrades and apps. However, whenever I reboot my phone I am prompted for the password I don't recognize to sign into iCloud. Then, when I hit cancel a message appears saying that "photos for the iCloud account "iCloud" cannot be accessed. Review your account information in Settings."  When I press on Settings I receive the prompt again for the password. The ID I don't recognize is an @iCloud.com which suggests I must have tried to set up an iCloud account with a different ID and have forgotten the password.

  • Why do games sync across both iPads, we have same Apple id but different Apple ID for iTunes and iCloud?

I purchased two iPads, loaded both from backup off my computer, both hold my Apple ID, but my Partners has her own id on iTunes, iCloud (tend not to use this only back up via my computer) all works fine as before -- just changed from orginial iPad to ipad air2. But when playing any game, instead of enjoying how far we are progressing, each one tends to upt the others score? Thus both playing the same app. How can l stop this happening? It didn't happen with the old iPads. HELP

TThanks for quick response , have now changed all three into Partners id, now will try games and try to win one, which in turn will alter score!, then see if it alters both! One point, can you tell me, that by changing Partners id in iTunes, she will still get my added music etc.? Thanks again

  • Different Apple IDs for iTunes Store and iCloud

I am a MobileMe subscriber and need to switch to iCloud soon and I have a question about Music syncing, specifically about Purchased Music, not the Match subscription kind.
My Apple ID for the iTunes Store is not the same as my MobileMe / iCloud Apple ID.
Given the difference in IDs, will my Purchased from iTunes music successfully sync over all devices via iCloud? Or will iCloud not recognize my other (iTunes) ID?
    Thank you

Or am I missing an essential point which is that even on iOS devices a person can sign into iCloud and iTunes in the Cloud separately?
Yes: signing into the iTunes Store is a separate issue from signing into iCloud. I quote:
    iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:
When you first set up your iOS 5 device, enter the Apple ID you want to use with iCloud. If you skipped the setup assistant, sign in to Settings > iCloud and enter the Apple ID you’d like to use with iCloud.
In Settings > Store, sign in with the Apple ID you want to use for store purchases (including iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match). You may need to sign out first to change the Apple ID.
    Mac:
Enter the Apple ID you want to use for iCloud in Apple () menu > System Preferences > iCloud.
Enter the Apple ID you want to use for store purchases (including iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match) iniTunes > iTunes Store

  • Can I move my iTunes music to a device with a different Apple ID using iTunes library on desktop?

I'm going to be getting a new iPhone real soon and I'm going to create a new Apple ID. The one that I'm currently using now will be handed over to another with respected agreements. I was just wondering if I could still move the music purchases with this ID to my phone that will have a different one using iTunes library on desktop.
    Possible?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. No "yeah, I have this problem too" posts because that is completely unhelpful, thank you.

You can move the song files into a different iTunes library and sync them to a new device, but they will remain associated with the original Apple ID.

  • Having an iphone and 2 different ipods on same itunes, syncing iphone

Is there anyway that there can be 2 itunes programs on 1 computer? The reason i ask, is that its a pain to sync the iphone after syncing an ipod. To sync the ipod you just select everything in the library. With the iphone's lesser memory you have to select, basically, one song at a time. This is a huge pain to do with nearly 6000 songs. Having 2 itunes programs that maintain to seperate library lists but used only 1 library would make syning much more painless. If there is a current way of doing this could someone let me know. Thanks.

My first suggestion would be that you read the users guides for both iTunes and the iPhone and/or search help for "playlists". You can easily make custom playlists for each device that you synch to the same copy of iTunes. The online video tutorials on iPhone support will also show you how to do this.
When your iPod, or iPhone, are connected to the computer, click on that "device" in the left hand column and you can select what you want synched from the "options" at the bottom of the page, and from any of the "tabbed" categories noted at the top of the window.
My kids synch two iPods, and two iPhones, to iTunes on one computer. They each have separate playlists for their individual iPods, as well as their individual iPhones. Another benefit of this arrangement is that they freely "share" their music, videos, and podcasts with each other (of course...it's really MY music as I paid for all of it.)

  • How do i sync different ipods on same itunes/computer?

I have an ipod classic and shuffle. Shuffle was purchased afterwards.
I managed to create a separate library and added songfs into Shuffle's library. Now i'd like to sync, but forgot how
to bring up each account, but can't open that library. Little help>???? Thanks.

With iTunes, you can only run 1 library at a time. Libra allows you to create more than one library and switch between them. You will have to use something like Libra to import your other library, the one that you create for your shuffle and have libra switch to it. The problem that you will run into is that if you switch to your other library, when you plug in your ipod classic, iTunes will tell you that it was synced with another library and you will need to erase and sync. If you want to sync both ipods to the same library, 1 of the them will need to be erased and synced.

  • Different ipod with same itunes

i recently broke my ipod and my sister gave me her ipod mini to keep. I wanted to erase her songs and jus add my songs to her ipod by plugging it into my computer. Her ipod had been hookd up to a different computer. When i plugged it into my computer it said that computer does not recognize device and nothing else popped up. SUGESTIONS???

Start by uninstalling iTunes and the Ipod setup software and download and installing the latest versions. Try connecting again if it still doesn't see the iPod try resetting it and then put it into forced disk mode before connecting. You could also try posting to the right discussion - this one is for the older, regular iPods. You have a mini.

  • I already purchased a ringtone but it made me but it again on a different device but same iTunes accout

I bought two ringtones on my iPod 5 and wanted them to be on my iPhone 4S as well, but even when I looked at purchased things on the same account on my phone, there were none. I need help I really need these ringtones to be on my phone too

Unlike other iTunes content, ringtones are a ONE-TIME download...they cannot be re-downloaded for free. So, if you want them on your phone, you need to transfer them from your iPod to your iTunes library, on your computer, then sync them to your phone.
