Different Audio Conflicting

Hi,
On my HP Pavilion g series, I've been having trouble with my sound. Whenever I run the voice communication apps Skype or Mumble, they seem to "take over" my headset, and all of the other audio plays through my speakers (YouTube, web browser, games, etc.). The sound icon gives me two options- Headset and Speakers. On the Headset, it will only show Skype or Mumble. On the Speakers, it will show everything else. I've set the headset to default on audio settings, and tried a bunch of different things. I've seen a lot of posts about this, so I would really appreciate some feedback.
Here's a picture that might help with the problem:

Did this work correctly at one time, then messed up, or are you discovering that it has always been like this?  Perhaps, a system restore will help get it back like it should be.
Please let me know if this helps.
Good luck!

  • Multiple use of the same video time line for different audio tracks

    I have a 90 minute video timeline
I will be putting different audio tracks in multiple languages.
But as i was just editing i wondered if i could use only a segment (30 minutes ) of the timeline
along with a 30 minute audio.
    Example:
So the first thing on the menu will be the whole 90 minute video
with a 90 minute music track
Second thing might be the 90 minute video with a 90 minute commentary
Third thing might be the first 30 minutes of video with a different commentary
Forth thing on the menu might be the first 30 minutes of video and 30 minutes of
    a different language
    Etc.
I realize i will need to make space (mb)  for all the audio.....but if i could use the same video or pieces of it
    that would be fantastic.
If i can do this i am presuming i should use playlists and chapter playlists to get it done?
I have never done this before and would love some feedback on an over view or tips
that might save me some guess work
    Thanks for any help :-)

    Hey Stan!
Thanks for your help...i think i am really getting this. And have learned a lot.
I had to go back to my computer programming and flowcharting skills to figure out the flow :-)
And i still have 153mb to spare when i build it.
I ended up lining up all the different videos and audios exactly for each time line except for 1 timeline.
Question: I know if the audio is shorter it will be ok.... but if the audio is longer than the video on a timeline ( and its the audio i assigned it by specify link )
Will the DVD keep playing until the audio is done or end when the video is done playing?
2nd Question: I am previewing the playlists with the "Preview from Here" feature
I specify the link and chapter within that timeline ( it is the only timeline with more than one chaper....the one with the longer audio than video from the question above )
For most of the audios i only need video chapter 1.....the preview here plays it ok but if i hit the skip to next (in the preview button on theright of the play button)...it goes to the next chapter #2... instead of the next timeline chapter 1 like it is programed to do from the playlist.
I am wondering if this is just fluke in the preview feature...or will it do that on the actual DVD as well?
Lastly because i am using different timelines. I am wondering if there are delays between playlists? for example...i have a long audio that continues between three timelines...i have spliced it pretty fine so it picks up perfectly on the next timeline...but i am wondering if the DVD when playing in realtime will have a little black space inbetween timelines.
Thanks again for your help and time :-)

    Hiya Mark.
DVD-Video is video dominant, with the audio always following the visuals so if the audio ends berfore the video it will not (okay, should not) be a problem.
However, the other way around could go either way - if the actual video timeline has ended the audio may well truncate so I would personally add videoblack at the very least.
I am also not at all sure how you are going to work a single contiguous audio file across 3 separate playlists. This sounds flawed in concept to me (have I misunderstood your meaning?). In DVD-Video the format is graphically/visually dominant - the audio must always be tied to a visual asset be it a menu or a timeline - so there is no way to have one piece of audio playing across 3 timelines and having it play back glitch free whilst the timeline changes. You will not get a black space - it will simply stop. So unless I have misunderstood you in some way.........
As Stan says, preview is flaky - the only way to know for sure is to multiplex & burn.

  • Audio tracks playing different audio tracks - routing issue?

I'm having trouble with some routing issues I believe. Here's the deal:
Some audio tracks are playing different audio tracks, when that region is not even in it. For instance:
Track #2 is Soloed. Output is Output 1-2. I hear the audio file that is in Track #1, which is NOT Soloed and I shouldn't even hear. I don't hear anything from Track #2. The only way I can hear Track #2 is by playing it from the audio bin, which obviously isn't going to work out right.
If I drag the audio region of Track #2 to a brand new audio track, I still don't hear anything. Is it possible this audio file(s) got corrupted somehow?
    Please help!

Check the parameters, in the left side of the arrange page window.
To me, it sounds as if you have a bunch of arrange tracks, which are all playing back through audio track #1.

  • How do you choose different audio streams?

If you have an "audio options" menu, and you have the choice between Ac3 and DTS, how would you link the different audio tracks to the buttons in the sub menu. also, how do you link the tracks to the audio button on you dvd players controller?
    thanks in advance

    How is the menu done?
In the DVDSP4 Apple training book they show how to create a script to make sure the Audio Options menu shows the currently selected version. I do not find a tutorial on how to create an Audio Options or Languages with audio choices menu.
    Thanks,

  • Choose different audio tracks in PE10 full version possible?!

Oky, I have tested this with Adobe PE10, but WHERE do I choose which audio track I want to import/use in the timeline?! Where can I see if the clip has more than 1 stream in Adobe Premiere Elements 10? I have tried looking in settings etc., but no luck. I KNOW that my video got 4 different audio tracks in it, but when I add the media to Adobe PE10 (it's a .m2ts-format file), only 1 stream (the DEFAULT audio stream, which is the WRONG stream) is what I get. Where are the other 3 audio streams, and how can I use them? It's nothing special about the clip itself. I can play the audio and video in the timeline, it just got the wrong audio stream...
I am asking because I see many articles/posts that mention you can do this in PE10, but I don't understand where... So far I have yet to find ANY video editing software that supports this.
And converting the audio FROM the .m2ts-file using a 3rd-party program is out of the question as well. If it does not work with PE10, then I have to find another solution, I suppose.

You do not have the option of choosing between the main track and the dub track from a video clip in Premiere Elements, Goodie. You just get the main track. So if that's what you're talking about, you'll need to look elsewhere. Though I'm not sure where because I don't know ANY video software that does this. What makes you think it's even available?
The exception is when you're shooting in 5.1 audio in AVCHD. If you've set your project up for 5.1 audio, you can control the level of each of the five tracks independently.

OK, for limiting User Operations, one can Permit All, None, Custom. This explains this process. Note: the Operations vary by whether you apply these to a Timeline, or to a Menu:
To disable or edit user operations
Select a timeline or menu, or click the Disc tab.
Note: Disabling user operations at the Disc level disables that operation in DVD elements too. You can, however, enable a function at the disc level and then turn it off for specific menus, timelines. and other elements.
Click the Set button at the bottom of the Properties panel.
Select the desired options and then click OK.
All Enables viewers to execute any operation.
    None Disables all viewer operations.
Custom Lets you specify which operations are enabled. Deselect the user operations you want to disable:
Play Timeline Lets the viewer enter a number of a timeline to play.
Change Presentation Mode Lets the viewer set the playback mode to 4:3 or 16:9.
Play Chapter Lets the viewer play a specific chapter.
Note: Disabling Play Chapter also disables the Search For Chapter operation.
Search For Chapter Lets the viewer search for a specific chapter.
Play Timecode Lets the viewer enter a timecode to play or search for.
Stop Lets the viewer stop the DVD.
Pause Lets the viewer pause the DVD.
Previous/Next Chapter Lets the viewer move among chapters.
Title Remote Lets the viewer use the Title button on the remote control.
Menu Remote Lets the viewer use the Menu button on the remote control.
Change Audio Tracks Lets the viewer change audio tracks while content is playing.
Change Subtitle Tracks Lets the viewer change the subtitle track when content is playing.
Resume Lets the viewer resume play from where content was stopped.
Arrow And Enter Keys Lets the viewer use the arrow and enter keys on the remote control.
Personally, I would not want to lock the user out of too many controls, as they might become highly frustrated and think that the DVD has malfunctioned.
    Hope that this helps,

  • Different Audio Track for Tittle

Did some googling and searching on here and can't figure this out. I have my movie done and want to add a tittle page or series of tittle pages with a different audio track than the one on my movie, how would I go about doing this?
    Thanks
    Alex G.

    Hi,
You can add audio directly to each clip or of course you can add audio to the whole project. You can control where the background music starts and stops too. The link below is very informative and shows you just how to do this.
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/imovie_09stone.html#audio%20adjustments
Personally, I have found that if I export my finished movie to the media browser and select the 'mobile' size for speed, as you will have to republish after you add the new soundtrack anyway! I then open Garageband and select movie track. I then select the movie from the media browser within Garageband and drag it into the track. I am now able to have full audio editing control, I can use several different pieces of music, placing them where I want and at what volume I choose. When I have finished my audio track, I delete the movie track and the movie audio track and save my file. This leaves my new music track. I then export this track to iTunes. Next, I open iMovie and I locate my soundtrack and drag it into the movie as a background track. I have found this to be the method that gives me full control.
    Good luck!

  • Is it possible to add two different audio tracks to a clip which can be selected separately in the final clip?

I'm trying to edit a short clip with two different audio tracks (audio in two different languages). The tracks are not supposed to overlap but rather should be able to be selected individually in the final clip. Do I need special software or is iMovie actually able to accomplish that?

I seriously doubt that this is possible. I think when you get this kind of option on a DVD, the audio and video streams are encoded separately and you run the language of your choice by choosing it from a menu.

  • Adjusting different audio clips levels?

Working in FCP and have a project with a lot of small individual clips of people speaking and each clip is at a different audio level. What's the best and easiest way to adjust the audio on each individual clip without over doing it labor wise?
    Thanks
    RD

Open each clip in Soundtrack Pro and normalize them to -6db. That will give you a reliable baseline for all the clips, and put the peak levels right where you want them.
Then, either in STP or back in FCP, adjust the level of each clip so the average dialog level is around -12db. Do this both by ear and watching the audio meter.
I suppose in FCP you could do the avg level adj. by keyframing the audio level, too. That would stay with the clip before you put it in a timeline. To use the faders you need to have the clip already placed in the sequence timeline.
If you find you need to raise the level of the normalized clip to get the avg. level to -12db, then you better put a limiter on the clip to keep the peak below -6db.

  • Multiple closed captions with different audio

    Hi there,
I have several buttons on a slide that each play different audio when clicked.
Is there any way I can add closed captions for each of these separately?
    Thanks,
    Mandy

If your REAL requirement here is to allow the learner to play a number of different audio clips with accompanying text transcript of the voiceover then there's a far easier method to achieve that resul.
Just add rollover captions and add the audio clips to the caption part of the object.  Add the transcript of the audio clip as the text in the caption.  Then when the learner places their mouse over the rollover hit area, the caption will appear, the audio clip will play, and the learner can view the transcript in the caption.  As soon as they move their mouse off the hit area the clip will stop playing.

  • What is the best way to deal with different audio sample rates on the same timeline ?

what is the best way to deal with different audio sample rates on the same timeline ?

You don't have to do anything special. If possible, start your project with a clip that has the desired target frame rate and audio sample rate, and your project parameters will be set automatically. Other sample rates will be converted under the covers.
For example, if your video is shot at 48khz, you can add music files at 44.1khz with no problem.
If you are recording audio that you want to synch with video (multicam), you will get best results if everything is 48khz, but you can use 44.1 if that is all you have. Once I forgot to reset my Zoom to 48,000 and it still worked.

  • Different Audio Outputs Logic Studio 8

Hello. I was wondering if apple was able to do this, because that would save a lot of plugging and unplugging of cables and such. Is it possible to select different audio outputs for different programs that you are using on the imac? I run logic studio 8 with a m-audio firewire 410 external soundcard with a couple of monitor speakers. I also have a set of z-5500 connected to my imac via the digital output cable. Is there a way where when i use logic studio 8, the firewire soundcard is used. and for all other purposes, such as watching a movie or listening to music, the digital output is used? Is there a program that can control this? if this is possible. it would help me out A LOT! THANKS

    Hello ecstasurf
    That's a great question?
Go to: "Applications / Utilities" and open "Audio MIDI Setup" from there you maybe able to switch between the FireWire and the Digital/Analog outputs. I can't give you much more help with that, I don't have an audio FireWire setup so you'll have to play around with the Audio Output Source there.
Note: If you like, you can drag a copy of the Audio MIDI Setup to your dock for quick and easy access.

  • Same video, different audio?

2.83 quad core, 8gb RAM, 4850 series video card, CS4.
Working on a DVD of my feature, and I'm putting together the special features. I imported the video of my feature, which comes in at about 5.9GB. I have two audio files: one is the soundtrack to the film, the other is the audio commentary track. I had no problem setting up the feature. Made a timeline, added the video and audio, and was fine.
Now working in the Special Features menu, want to put together the audio commentary. So naturally, I thought the way to do this is to create a new timeline, put the video in, and put the audio commentary track in rather than the regular soundtrack. Checked the "build" tab and I'm somewhere in the 11GB range, far more than the standard dual layer dvd capacity. Have I done something wrong? Is there a better way to do this? Or am I really going to need to compress the feature's video that far down as to allow for space? Thanks for any and all help.

Many thanks! I think my problem was that I was trying to reassign the audio using the override option, rather that going directly into the assigned video and telling it to use a different audio. Either way, works like a charm. I appreciate it!

  • How do I 'unlink' different audio regions?

    Hi
I'm a FCE-user new to FCP. I'm finishing a project in FCP and need to adjust/process audio for different clips. When I make adjustments to the audio from one clip, it affects all the other clips too (presumably because they have the same source file?). It's driving me potty. How do I make the different audio regions independant of each other?
    Thanks

You do not mean the first and second channel of the same videoclip that lie above each other in the timeline, do you?
Because then we're talking about a stereopair and selecting both audio'clips' and hitting Option L (or Alt-L) Would solve your problem.
Or do you mean that they lie next to each other. (Later in time). Well. If they are still linked as stereopair. Still Option L can help you. Or at least COMMAND L to unlink it from the videotrack. Otherwise I don't get what's happening.
You need to be more specific on your workflow. You say in the viewer. Is that a videoclip you doubleclicked on the timeline, or a clip loaded from the browser. Do you adjust levels by using your mouse (or pen) or some (which) shortcut.
Are there in and outpoints in the timeline?
