Different Client Versions in OWB 9i and 10g

Hi,
Our client is using 9i OWB Client Software, and we are planning to use OWB10g Client Software on Windows Platform.
Will there be any compatability issues while moving from 9i OWB Client Software to 10g Client software.
And what are other parameters we need to consider, if possible please mention any documents links available.
Kindly let me know the pros/cons in this model .
Here my main question is will there be backward compatibility, i.e repository in 9i database need to connect by using the OWB 10g client?
With Regards,
Kranth...

Hi,
you cannot use different client versions on the same repository. If you want to use owb 10g, then you have to upgrade the repository to 10g. Then you can only use 10g clients, owb 9i clients cannot connect to that repository.

Carsten.

  • Cloning use the different gcc version between source system and target sys

    Hi All,
Our system is: Application tier and Database tier is split to two servers.
We should run a cloning, but I found the different gcc version on application tier on source system and target system.
The source application tier server is RedHat Linux ES3, gcc version is 3.2.3
The target application tier server is RedHat Linux ES3, gcc version is 2.9.6
There is the same gcc version on database tier on source system and target system, they are gcc 2.9.6.
My question: Can I use the different gcc version between source system and target system when I run an erp cloning?
    Thanks & Regards
    Owen

Not necessarily, you might get some errors if the version is higher and it is not supported by the OS. An example is Note: 392311.1 - usr/lib/gcc/i386-redhat-linux/3.4.5/libgcc_s.so: undefined reference to 'dl_iterate_phdr@GLIBC_2.2.4'
To be on the safe side, make sure you have the same version (unless you want to give it a try).

  • Which Client Version of OWB can be used for Oracle8i

    Hi All,
I have installed Oracle 8i in my system. Iam unable to install higher versions due to system configuration issue.
Which version of OWB client will support Oracle 8i? or Do I need to go for Oracle 9i to connect through OWB 10g client?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kumar

    Hi Kumar,
OWB10g R1 requires at least 8.1.7.4 Oracle Database,
    OWB10g R2 - 9.2.x Oracle Database
Look at these requirements in Installation guide
    [OWB10g R1 Installation guide - Database Requirements|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10926_01/doc/owb.101/b12150/reqs01.htm#CIHBCDIC]
    [OWB10g R2 Installation guide - Database Requirements|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31080_01/doc/install.102/b28224/reqs01.htm#BGEEGJAC]
    So your case - OWB10g R1.
This requirement only for database used as target or as database for design repository.
    Regards,
    Oleg
PS. Please note that Oracle doesn't support OWB10g R1

    Hi HMLunger,
Did you install the SQL Server instance successfully? If not, please help to post the summary and detail logs for analysis. By default, the logs can be found in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Setup Bootstrap\Log.
However, if you fail to start SQL Server Express service after successfully installing SQL Server,
you might have to change the paths of the files by running the following scripts from the command prompt. For more details, please review this similar
    thread.
    NET START MSSQL$SQLEXPRESS /f /T3608
    SQLCMD -S .\SQLEXPRESS
    ALTER DATABASE model MODIFY FILE (NAME = logical_name , FILENAME = 'new_path\os_file_name');
    ALTER DATABASE model MODIFY FILE (NAME = logical_name , FILENAME = 'new_path\os_file_name');
    go
    exit;
    ALTER DATABASE msdb MODIFY FILE (NAME = logical_name , FILENAME = 'new_path\os_file_name');
    ALTER DATABASE msdb MODIFY FILE (NAME = logical_name , FILENAME = 'new_path\os_file_name');
    NET STOP MSSQL$SQLEXPRESS
In addition, you can follow the steps in this KB article to uninstall SQL Server.

  • Connecting as sysdba different client versions

SqlPlus 8.1 connect successfully in both DBOra81 and DBOra90.
SqlPlus 9.0 can't connect any instance. ORA-01031: insufficient privileges again.
    * Oracle Primary Home Ora81: The same cases
    * Oracle Primary Home Ora90: The Same Cases.
Why I can't connect as sysdba with Oracle 9i client software ?

  • Oracle Client Version

    Hi,
We are on PT 8.46.04 and FSCM 8.8 and planning to upgrade the Batch NT server Hardware running on Windows Server 2000 SP4 to WIndows Server 2003.
We are also upgrading the Oracle database from 9.0.2.1.0 to 10g.
My question is, do we need to upgrade the Oracle Client on the APP and BATCH servers to match the Database Version or still keep the old Oracle client version which is 9.0.2.1.0?
can we have different database and client versions?
And also does Oracle support client 9.2.0.1.0 on Windows server 2003 .
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

can we have different database and client versions? The official and recommanded way by Peoplesoft is to meet the same version between client (what ever client machine, application server and batch server) and the database server.
And also does Oracle support client 9.2.0.1.0 on Windows server 2003 Yes, Oracle 9.2 is certified on Windows 2003 (however, 9.2.0.3 or higher patchset was required).
No, it is not supported because Oracle 9.2 is is not supported anymore.
    Nicolas.

  • Client version is different on the primary server and workstations

    Hi Guys,
    I have a quick question.
What is the impact if the client version on the workstations are higher than the primary site version?
In our environment, some of the machines client got updated to 5.00.7804.1300. But our primary site server version is 5.00.7804.1000.
    Thanks in advance.

Well, if the same major version, being SP1 or R2, then generally OK. However, between major versions, you are not supported having a higher client version (for example R2) reporting to a lower version (for example SP1).
Even within a site, with the same higher version, there should be no way to get clients installed at a higher CU than the site server. Of course, if the site server is a client, then it could be R2 CU1, and other clients being R2 CU2. But R2 CU2 would still
be installed on the site server, maybe just not the client on the site server.
And I believe as of CU2 of R2, they are not updating the Help About version to reflect CU release so that will help.

  • How to run different Oracle client versions on the same PC

I have developped an application (.Net 2.0, ODP v. 10). I must run it on PC where Oracle client version 8 is installed. The PC cannot be upgraded because of a client software running under this version.
I tried to install ODP v. 10 on this PC in different home, but the software using version 8 stops running.
Can Oracle Instant Client help ? But which version, 11 ? My application is based on ODP 10. Can ODP 10 access database via Instant Client 11 ?
    Thanks for your help

The problem on Windows is: The 10g installation changed the default ORACLE_HOME,now it points to 10g and makes the 8.0.5 application invalid, because it runs now in a much higher environment. What I did in a similar situation, I created a batch file, which sets temporarily the old environment (in my case PATH,ORACLE_SID,ORACLE_HOME) and then invokes the application.
I don't know whether such a solution will work for you (8.0.5 is very old, desupported since a long time), my old version was 8.1.7.4.

  • Install client for two different oracle versions

hello, right now I'm involved in two different projects, which work with Oracle 9i and 10g, and I need to access both databases from the same computer. My question is if it's possible to install the client software for both versions without problems.
    Thank you

The problem is that the client for 9i is already installed in that machine, and it can't be uninstalled. So I need to install 10g client software, but without uninstalling the other one, only if this operation doesn't generate any conflicts. Is there an official Oracle document or somethign similar about this topic?

  • OWB 10gR2 and 11gR2 integrate which with oracle database versions

I request a clear definite reply as I need to suggest the client to upgrade their production databases. I did try searching on the oracle sites, but did not get any sure answer.
    Question:
The client has databases on 8i, 9i & 10g. Will OWB 10gR2 support these data sources?
If not, either I will have to ask clients to upgrate 8i & 9i to oracle 10g or have them upgrade the same and also have them upgrade to OWB 11gR2.
So, please confirm support of database versions for both OWB 10gR2 & OWB 11gR2.
    Thanks much!

I already had the 'Release notes' link for both 10g and 11g which you provided.
The issue is when I launch the URL, I am taken to https://support.oracle.com/CSP/ui/flash.html.
Here I've to submit and register Sun Contract Number or Oracle Support Identifier. I don't have these details.
Isn't there a simple way to get the valid information on platform-specific requirements?
I mean this should be given easily on Oracle site.
    Thanks much!

  • SCCM 2012 R2 client version 1101 and 1104 queries

There are several samples of collection query code for SCCM 2012 R2 client version 5.00.7958.1000, which is the base R2 client version. Patches can change this to 5.00.7958.1101 and 5.00.7958.1104. But there is a problem. These two patches
display as 1101 and 1104 when you go to Control Panel\Configuration Manager\General tab but when you go to Programs and Features and look in there the DisplayVersion is 5.00.7958.1000--so all query code samples are unable to different between the base versions
and version 1101 and 1004. I have been unable to find out how to write a query that finds version s 1101 and 1104. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks.

Use ClientVersion from SMS_R_System within a console query or ClientVersion0 from V_R_system in a SQL query.
Even this can be deceptive though because the agent only reflects the highest version number of one of its subcomponets. This post, specific to 2007, describes the complexity: http://blog.configmgrftw.com/configmgr-client-hotfix-versioning/.
Specific to your question though, why do you care if either of these hotfixes are distributed to your clients? 2905002 is only necessary during WinPE (and if you are actually not using download on demand content during OSD) and 2910552 is only applicable
if you are rolling out Win 8.1 using a single TS to your XP systems using a refresh methodology.

  • How can I handle deploying multiple test systems on the same PC that have been developed using different versions of LabVIEW, TestStand, and/or Switch Executive?

The major issue here is that the test systems must be documented and validated before being released to the production floor. Given this if a test station has multiple test systems deployed on it that have been developed on various versions of LV, TS, and Switch exec how can I force the test system selected to use the correct versions of TS, LV, and Switch exec.? I understand that the solution would be to recomplie everything and bring them up to the latest version but that would then require re-validation according to the QA department. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
It would be nice if theTS deployment was more like an LV executable... meaning when a LV executable is launched it always knows what LV runtime engine to use when there are multiple engines installed on a PC.

    Hi,
Multiply versions of teststand can reside on the same system, but only one version can run at a time. They is a utility that has to be run to set the active version.
The SequenceFiles have a version number, and you will find an error will be generate if you try to Load the sequencefile in the wrong version of TestStand.
The labview VIs will only work providing the correct version of the RTE is also installed on your system, even a labview executabe requires the correct RTE to be installed, either as part of the executable installation or as a seperate installation, before the labview exe will work correctly.
I'm not fimilar with the Switch exec but I would expect that it will also require the correct lower level device drivers to be available for the version you are using.
Therefore, as you are indicating that some of your system are at  a older version, its difficult to image how you could achive this, considering if you say you have different versions of the software(s). For a start, you may have the problem that newer code/ sequencefiles using additional functionatily not available in the older versions.
I would think your only solution would  be to have different deployments covering the different versions you have, or at least bring all your test systems up to the same version of teststand.

I have been creating forms in InDesign and pulling into Acrobat XI Pro to do form fields. My client would like to fill in the PDF form using Reader, save under a different name locally on their device, and redistribute. The problem I have is that, sometimes, they want to redistribute the form as Read Only. I know how to flatten the form on a mobile device, but uncertain how they can do that with a PC or Mac using Adobe Reader. I looked at FormsCentral thinking there might be a solution going that route, but don't believe there is. Any advice?

FormsCentral won't help with flattening a form. You could set up the form in Acrobat so that the fields are set to read-only, using JavaScript. Not quite the same as flattening but it's the best Reader can do.
Note that when Reader is used to e-sign a document, it gets flattened, but this won't be possible if you need to Reader-enable the form and under certain other conditions.
