Different colors in Raw and Ps5

My tiff picture is scanned in Adobe RGB, but looks different in Cam Raw and Photoshop5 even though I set the color profile to Adobe RGB in both programmes. When I make corrections in Raw, the colors doen´t match when I open it as an object in Photoshop. I´m really puzzled and hope someone out there can help me

Problems like this are often borne from ill-formatted or faulty color profiles associated with the monitor.  The monitor profile (which is a complicated beast under the covers) may not be interpreted correctly by all the different parts of Photoshop.
Try changing the monitor profile temporarily to sRGB and see if the display is now consistent.  You do this through the OS dialogs.
If this helps, you may want to seek out a better profile for your monitor, or possibly get a calibration/profiling device to create one yourself.

  • Different colors in Photoshop and Lightroom

A fresh install of LR and PS CS2. I display an image in Lightroom (no adjustments at all) and open it in Photoshop (edit in ps CS2-->edit original). When I skip between LR and PS, I see different colors. The photos displayed in LR seem to be a little bit more saturated than in Photoshop.
What can I do match both photos. So far I am in a situation where I don't know how my photos are going to appear because both programs interpret them differently.

I am having the same problem as Michael... except I am calibrated (and no... I do NOT know the ins and outs of calibration... I do it b/c I am supposed to lol).
*MY* problem is similar to his.... it is ONLY when I have exported pics into PS (CS2 in my case) that I have a problem. LR-only edits are just fine. It is most notably apparent when I choose "export" photos once I am done with them... and once this is done it seems impossible (for me) to undo it!
Everything shifts reddish/magenta/orangey. I also seem to end up with hot spots/blown areas that were not there originally. It is NOT just a monitor issue, as these changes seem to become permanent. But I haven't noticed a desaturated appearance in CS2 (when moving from LR).
I shoot Raw+ Fine jpegs (I like having both for backup purposes) and do all my work on the Raws. I shoot with a Nikon D80, D300, Fuji S5... and have the same problem with all 3 cameras.
My normal workflow is to do a general color correction for all files in LR; choose my 5-10 faves to "showcase" and edit them in CS2 to make them shine more. I always choose "edit copy with LR adjustments" and export them as 8 bit tiffs. After doing my edits I choose Ctrl+S (so it pops back into LR) and then do a fast web copy (from CS2) for my blog. The web copies ALWAYS look great! Now that they are back in LR I don't always notice a problem (or should I say I didn't pay enough attention to them at that point to realize if there was/wasn't an issue) b/c by that time, I was "done" until the ordering process. All that was left was to make the web gallery (via LR).
I vividly remember when I first realized there was a problem... both were sessions where I'd ended up editing almost EVERY picture in CS2 for various reasons. Again, I can't remember if there was a problem once back in LR... but if so, it wasn't very noticeable...
But once I had done a final "export"- EVERYTHING was AWFUL!! And they stayed that way!!! In fact, the more I think about it the more certain I am that they were FINE when they first showed back into LR... b/c I remember seeing everything change and being heartbroken when I couldn't "revert" to the original looking CS2 edits. and they looked even WORSE in LR than online etc.
At first I thought I must have a preset upon export or something odd checked, but I've looked and have found no culprits. Perhaps it is a tiff issue? (I am doing my final exports as jpegs??) but I've seen others complain of the same thing...
all I know is that they look absolutely awful!!! Please give me some guidance!
Here is an example of one of the worst offending galleries of images:
    http://gypsyisle.com/denee&will
The CS2 edits were NOT blown out OR red (in fact, I keep that particular monitor a shade bright so that my clients, when viewing on THEIR non-calibrated monitors will not be upset with how light/bright/white everything is! So I don't see how I accidentally blew out so many of these pics and made them red/orange/mageta etc!)

  • Different colors in Aperture and Photoshop - trying everything

I'm having problems with color in PS CS2 looking a bit flat after doing "edit with" from Aperture. I shoot raw and do most processing in Aperture 2.0, where I have on-screen proofing turned off right now. I "edit with" PS, which exports to a 16-bit .psd file that opens in PS; I understand I have no control over the embedded color profile, which is always Adobe RGB, I believe.
On the Photoshop side, I have selected "preserve embedded profiles" and turned on notification of mismatch, just in case. I have selected Adobe RGB 1998 as the RGB color setting in PS. I have Proof Colors turned off. I have also deselected "Desaturate Monitor Colors" in PS Advanced Color Settings.
In Aperture, the adjusted raw and the managed psd file, sitting side by side, look identical in color. If I compare those two images to the same psd image I just opened in Photoshop, the one in the PS window is less saturated. I have the Aperture and PS windows open on the same Cinema monitor, so it's not a monitor difference.
I'm no expert in color management, for sure...what else can I try? I’m going crazy!

I'm no expert in color management
An expert in colour management engineeri can fail in configuring any two ICC-enabled applications for compatible assumptions. Understanding the architecture is one thing and understanding the current conditions for configuration are another.
In such situations as this, the best bet is to ask the Apple ColorSync Users List.

  • Different colors from RAW+JPEG mode of my camera

The same issue of always... color profile.
I shot my entire trip thru Europe using RAW + JPEG Basic mode of my Nikon D40 digital camera. Oddly, the JPEG files are looking MUCH MUCH better, because iPhoto assigned the correct color profile to the files, instead of signing all RAW files as Adobe RGB. (I have Adobe RGB option on my camera, but I shot as sRGB).
I tried installing Aperture trial to reprocess all RAW files and no success. Looking RAW and JPEG side by side makes me sad.
What should I do to make iPhoto recognize my RAW files as sRGB?
Sorry for posting this again... I read more than 20 threads about color issues and I didnt managed how to fix my problem.

    Hi Dave,
yes, thats generally what i want to do.
I have the PEF-Files out of my camera and i convert them with the Adobe DNG converter to the DNG format. The old Pentax K100D is using uncompressed PEF, thats why the pictures are twice the size than the converted DNG
If i import these files for further processing into Lightroom, they are looking similar to the originals viewed with another application (e.g. the pentax development tool) for a second, after that Lightroom is changing the preview to the settings of the Adobe Profile. Colors are much more colder and less colorful. If i try to change the profile in the developement tab, there are no visible changes to the picture.
I've downloaded the DNG Converter and Camera RAW. There are several profiles included, but i don't know how to use them with Lightroom or Photoshop CS4 (with installed ACR).
I've created a screenshot of the differencies so you know what i mean.
    Screenshot
On the left side you can see the developed JPEG via PEF out of the Pentax-Software (Silkypix), on the right is the developed JPEG out of the DNG via Lightroom. Both files are without any further changes to the development process.
The left picture corresponds to the original conditions.

  • Need to display different colors for Actuals and forecasting values in WAD

    Hi Gurus,
My requirement in the report is, I need to display different colors for particular values like Actuals(say value type 10) and for forecasting values(say value type 20) , and data will uploaded from flat file.
Scenario : If I upload the data for March Month, I receive actual values upto March(Jan to March month) and from April to Dec(Forecast values with value type 20),  Every month I will be getting file and similarly for subsequent months, i will get current month actual values and forwarding months forecasting values,
Now , my requirement is, When ever i execute the Report, Say if i execute for April Month, Upto April( Jan to April for actual values should be displayed in one color) and from May to Dec ( forecast values should be displayed in different color).
I had tried with following options like exceptions and could not display , as it runs based on key figure values where as my requiremnet is based on the CALMONTH , i need to show different colors for both actual and forecast values.
Kindly, help me out from this,
    Thanks

    Hi,
it is not necesseary that you need to do that in WAD , you can do the same in BEx platform, Since WAD is build above the bex reports. so automatially any changes done in Report will be replicated in WAD
Go for Exceptions in Bex. Give some range for Actuals and Forcasting at the creation of the exception.
if you do those changes in BEX automatically it will replicate in the WAD.

  • Leica D-Lux 6 RAW and PS5?

Hi, I have a new Leica D-Lux 6 and I made many photo in the Leica RAW format. Now I can't open the files under PS5.
Has somebody an idea what to do?
It makes no sense for me to have such a camera and can't use the RAW format because of the limitation of PS.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Is it possible to create a PDF with different colors for screen and printing?

I'm working on a document that features light colored text on a dark background. I'll be sending this document as a PDF to someone who will likely want to print it. Is it possible to set up the document such that it will display this way when viewed on screen, but will print as black text on a white background, without requiring any special action on the part of the recipient?
Printing a color separation of just the text color produces exactly the results I'm after, but I can't ask the recipient to do that. I need it to happen automatically any time it's printed.
I've tried setting up a duplicate text layer in black and placing it under the background layer, then setting the background layer and colored text to 'never print'. This works within Acrobat Pro, but not when I print the same document from Preview.
Is there an acrobat equivalent of a CSS print stylesheet?
    Thanks.

Create the document in layers with the background on a seperate layer than the text. Export the PDF with"Create Acrobat Layers" selected (it will need to be at least version 1.5).
Open the PDF in Acrobat, choose the background layer then Options>Properties>Initial State and under "print" choose "Never prints".

  • Different colors in preview and colorsync

    Hi,
I have a strange problem, probably related to colorsync:
If I open a JPEG picture in Colorsync, the picture has the correct colors, if I open it in Preview, colors are darker.
I thought Preview would be using Colorsync straight away, but it seems there is a difference.
My problem is, that I have been working on several thousands of pictures, which appear correctly in Nikon ViewNX, Nikon Capture NX, Colorsync, Photoshop, Firefox.
These pictures have an embedded Profile 'Nikon Adobe RGB 4.0.0.3001'.
But in Preview, Safari, Finder colors are too dark. I suppose, these apps are based on the same code, but I find no way to make them accept the correct profile.
(I have the same wrong colors in these apps when I convert the files to the IEC sRGB profile.)
Some details about my 'working space':
    iMac with Mac OS-X: 10.5.8
Calibrated monitor with Colormunki to 6500, gamma 2.2
Camera Nikon D200 set to Adobe RGB profile
Pictures taken in raw (NEF) format then converted to JPEG with the same Profile embedded, ( or later converted to sRGB).
(It's the jpg pictures which cause the problem - NEF pictures aren't shown correctly in Preview anyway.)
I really can't find an explanation for this effect, but it is annoying, because browsing files with Apple tools like Peview/Slideshow is the standard in MacOS-X.
    Thank you for any help,
    Fred

  • Different color for positive and negative chart

    Hi-
I have a spreadsheet that displays data as a 3D chart - I would like to make the Positive and Negative values different colours (i.e below zero is RED - is that possible?
    Thanks!
    Andy

    Hi Andy,
You can assign the negative values to one series and the positive values to another. Here's an example:
Column C in the Chart Data table contains the expression:
    =IF(B<0, B, "")
Column D in the Chart Data table contains the expression:
    =IF(B<0, "", B)
To create this chart, click on Column Label A, then Command-Click on Column Labels C and D. This sets you up to create a 2-series chart. Then Insert a 3-D Area Chart.
The 2 series are offset in the Z-axis, so some angles of view won't look so good, but you can experiment and find a view angle that works for you.

  • Combo chart - different colors for Bar/Line

    Hi,
In a combo chart is it possible to have different colors for bar and lines......................In our report- combo charts the intersection of bar/line is NOT visible beacuse of same color.

  • Different colors in Safari

    Thanx!

    Hi big.mike,
Are you creating a web site? If so, which editor? Depending on which editor, you should have an option for Web Safe Colors. That way they will all the same shade of green.

  • Why are filenames highlighted in different colors?

Just upgraded from 10.2 to 10.4 i believe and im noticing filenames ALL OVER the place with different colors to them and i cant figure out any system to it, what is that all about?

This means that the files have a label assigned to them; Mac OS X 10.2 will not display labels in the Finder but Mac OS 9.x, Mac OS X 10.3 and newer systems will. To turn off a label, control-click the file in the Finder and click the x furthest to the left under Color Label. The files may have color labels because they were set that way when they were placed onto the hard disk, or if the label has been changed after putting them on.

  • I have 4 diffrent color puzzle pieces and I want to put them together in one design how would I do it?

I have 4 different color puzzle pieces and I want to put them together in one design how would I do it?

    More info please.
Do you have the 4 puzzle pieces in 4 separate files? If that is the case...
    1. Create a blank canvas large enough to fit the completed puzzle.
    2. Open one of the piece files.
    3. Select just the piece (minus the background).
    4. Copy the selection to the clipboard (Edit > Copy).
    5. Activate the canvas and paste from the clipboard (Edit > Paste). The piece will be placed on a new layer with transparent background.
    6. Do the same with the other pieces.
    7. Now you can rotate/move the pieces as necessary to fit them together.
If the 4 pieces originally are in the same file you can do similar: select each piece and copy/paste, etc.
If this is not your scenario please clarify.
