Different colours - same settings!

Hi. I make my movie and I am doing this: (Sequence1 = S1) (Sequence2 = S2)
I export movie from S1 with after effects. I render it and exported via Compressor, settings HDV 1080 50i.. I named it tp08..
After I imported it to S2 and make only some little after-changes.. All is OK, but after I exported a final movie and the colours were brutal different in Quicktime as in FCP! And my question is - which are original? How to make them the same? Here is the screen shot (up is my editing version in FCP - darker and down is the SAME version, as in FCP, but opened in QT..) WHY!!!????

#49 - Quicktime movie lighter than what I see in FCP.
Shane's Stock Answer #49 - Why is the Quicktime Movie I made much lighter than what I see in my timeline in FCP?
Because it is designed to be bright enough to be seen on most monitors, some that might be too dark. But, if you want to see the same image you see in your FCP timeline, just open Quicktime, and in the Quicktime Player's preferences window under the General tab you can choose to Enable Final Cut Studio color compatibility.

  • Open the same raw file in PS5 with two different White Balance settings

    I'm trying to open the same Raw File in PS5 with two different White Balance settings.  One setting "as shot" the other in "daylight", then blend them.  The tutorial I'm watching says to "stack" the images.  The tutorial shows one White Balance setting as the "Background" layer and the other setting as "Layer 1".  I don't know how to do this and the tutorial is not specific.  Can anyone either point me to a step by step instruction or offer some assistance?

    Also look at the "Snapshots" feature of Camera Raw itself.  It allows you non-destructively to keep multiple sets of settings for a single raw file.
    Learning about it far exceeds the scope of what can be done in this particular forum.  I would recommend this book as essential reading:

  • Two very different results using the same settings (H.264 / Quicktime Pro)

    I’m a bit confused, I have used Quicktime Pro (v7.1) to encode DV into H.264 for iPod and this particular video is 18 minutes long and came out looking very good with the following settings;
    VIDEO: H.264 at 200kbps, Baseline Profile, 25fps, Auto Key Frames, 320x240 or 640x480, Multipass Best quality encoding.
    AUDIO: AAC Audio at 96kbps, 24kHz sampling freq, Stereo.
    However here is the twist…
    When I use the same exact settings to encode just the 30 second opener (from the 18 minute video) the encoded opener looks bad and blocky!
    Why? Same settings would make you assume that you should get a same or similar result, or am I wrong?
    The reason I have tried encoding this 30 second opener is that I am trying to work out which settings work best on the iPod (another issue) and I don’t want to spend hours test encoding the full 18 minute video, as you know H.264 is SLOW to encode!
    So can anyone help in regard to two very different results using the same settings?

    Alvin,
    Is it a commercially-released or home-burned CD?
    If it's commercially-released, try "encouraging" the recalcitrant computer by using the iTunes Advanced menu > Get CD Track Names command when it shows Audio CD.
    If it's home-burned, you will find that only the computer that actually burned the disc will know what's on it. The information won't be transferred to another computer.
    Let us know which, if either, of these situations applies to you.

  • HP 2511x same settings different picture quality...

    Hey guys. I have two 2511x's and when I have them on the same settings the pictures is noticeably different. One has deeper richer colors, the other seems brighter more washed out.
    One of the monitors is a year old and the other is brand new. Would this cause the difference I am seeing? Is there some type of break in period? Or did I simply get two montiors with different pictures.
    Just wondering because the difference in pictures kind of bugs me.
    Thanks.

    It could be the difference in age/use or it could be differences in suppliers/materials used. Just like yarn has different "dye lots" for  product runs, computer equipment can also change over different runs.

  • Different coloured text in the same crawl

    How can i have different coloured text in a crawl, whenever i use any of the text funciotons, if i change the colour it changes the coulour for all the text, can i not just simply highlight bits and make them different colours?
    cheers,
    Matt

    Use the Boris Title Crawl generator that came bundled with FCP. It will allow you to assign different attributes to individual characters. Alternatively you can do this in Photoshop or with the CHV text generators. http://www.chv-plugins.com/cms/Fx-Script/Text-collection/Text-collection.php?nav anchor=1010026

  • Why are my identically coloured opaque images printing different colours? Is it a transparency issue

    I have an object that is a plain white logo with a grey background - the file is a flattened psd file and has only the one layer.
    when i place the logo into InDesign (CS5) onto a plain grey (the same colour as in the logo) background and print this simple combination, the grey background on the logo is a funny colour compared to that on the document background. they have the exact same RGB reference! they only appear different colours when printed; on screen they look great.
    i thought that this was an issue with transparency and have tried playing around with having a transparent logo with no background and various transparancy flattener settings but nothings fixing the problem. the only thing that i managed to achieve was to make all of the grey one colour, but the funny coloured grey i was seeing just in the logo background!
    when i go to window-output and check the flattener preview, i can see that i have no transparent objects whatsoever in my document.
    any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated - its driving me MAD!
    thanks,
    becky

    More to the point on this, I think, is that both RGB and CMYK values listed for any spot color are "best approximations" (many, perhaps most, spot colors have no good CMYK equivalent, and that would be true as well for some subset using RGB) using Pantone's unknown color space. Even in that space the probability of getting an actual match between the simulation and the true spot ink is close to zero. Using some other space makes things worse, and since there is no way to know the sapce in use at Pantone, you're kind of up the creek.
    For CMYK converison you can do reasonably well by using the Ink manager to convert the spot to process and check the bok to Use Lab Values at the same time. For RGB, I have no idea how to come close, at all.

  • In iMessage do the different colours of message mean anything?

    In iMessage do the different colours of message mean anything?

    iMessages can be sent between Apple devices like iPhone, iPod, iPad, Macs. They are free of charge if connected to Wi-Fi and use your data plan if Wi-Fi is not available.
    If the other person does not have an Apple device, those messages are sent as text, depending on your contract you might have a certain number of free messages to send or your carrier will not charge you for sending.
    If an iMessage can't be sent, your iPhone will try to send it as "normal" text message, this setting can be changed in Settings/Messages on your phone.
    Messages lets you exchange text messages with other SMS and MMS devices using your cellular connection, and with other iOS devices using iMessage.
    iMessage is an Apple service that lets you send unlimited messages over Wi-Fi (or cellular connections) to others using iOS 5 or later, or OS X Mountain Lion or later. With iMessage, you can see when other people are typing, and let them know when you’ve read their messages. iMessages are displayed on all of your iOS devices logged in to the same account, so you can start a conversation on one of your devices and continue it on another device. For security, iMessages are encrypted before they’re sent.

  • Printing Colour Issues - colour management settings

    Hi there
    I've been having some serious printing problems recently when I print from InDesign CS5 and also from Acrobat when printing PDFs exported from InDesign.
    All of the print out colours a wrong (such as Blacks printing as pink)
    I have tried changing several settings, but nothing seems to be fixing it.
    I've replaced all my inks and I can print fine when printing in other programs such as word, so its not an ink issue.
    My printer is a Canon MP540
    I'm using a Mac, on OS X Lion.
    I think i'm using the default colour management settings, however could this possibly be the issue?- which settings might work?
    I would REALLY APPRECIATE any help with this issue!
    Many Thanks

    if I look at the same image in the default 'Preview' on Mac, the
    colours look different to what I see in PS
    First, that would clearly indicate your image does not have an embedded profile, or Ps is being told to ignore the embedded profile — Ps is applying a different profile (or it may have been dinked around with in its Edit> Color Settings> More Options> Advanced Controls).
    It is best for most people not to dink around with Color Settings> More Options...to get back a Default starting point, just select a preset like North American Prepress 2.
    I know there are a million posts and articles on this complex subject
    You only need one good article to grasp the basic issues.
    The short answer is you are either missing something in scenario One, or you are hitting a bug.
    When Photoshop setups a correct SourceSpace-to-PrintSpace Conversion the Epson will print your file faithfully if your Source Color is within print gamut and your Print Space reflects an accurate ICC profile to the specific printer-paper-ink you are printing to.
    I would recommend testing with a known good file like the download Photodisc PDI test image (so bad files don't confuse the process)...

  • FCE export quality worse than iMovie with same settings

    Hi, I'm having real problems exporting video from FCE. If I import an HD clip from my Panasonic sd200 into iMovie and export it as a .mov and do exactly the same in FCE using the same export settings, the quality of the exported movie from FCE is much worse than the same from iMovie. I have been struggling with this problem for months and cannot seem to get any sort of decent quality export from FCE (using H264) and spent hours trying different settings.
    Also, the colours in the exported videos from iMovie and FCE are less saturated and look really bland next to the same clip in FCE canvas.
    Please can anyone help? Even the guys in the Apple shop could not figure this one out.

    Sorry the camera is actually a Panasonic HS200.
    The native format is .MTS and films in 1920x1080 50i. Imported via iMovie as a .MOV which gives the same quality footage as if I imported via Log and Transfer.
    I will expand on the problem I am experiencing. When I export from FCE4 using "QuickTime conversion" I use the following settings:
    Codec: h.264 Key Frames: every 25
    Frame rate: 25fps Frame Reordering: on
    Data Rate Restricted to: 10mbps
    Optimised for: Download
    Quality: High Encoding: Best quality (multi-pass)
    Dimensions: 1920x1080
    Deinterlace Source Video: ticked
    When the deinterlacing is ticked, the final exported video appears ghosted, with two of the same images projected side by side rather than one on top of the other, creating a very bad image. However when deinterlacing is not ticked the final exported video ends up with horizontal lines across the entire image. This is seen even more clearly when not in full screen.
    When I export from iMovie 09, using Share>Export using QuickTime using the same settings as in FCE4 (deinterlacing ticked) the footage is very clear and there is no noticeable ghosting or horizontal lines.
    When I export footage from FCE the video also end up desaturated and washed out, with low contrast. The same happens when I export from iMovie, but to an even greater extent!
    My 'Easy Setup' for FCE4 is:
    Format: Apple intermediate Codec Rate: 25fps
    Use: AVCHD- Apple Intermediate Codec 1920x1080i50
    These are the problems I experience; described above.
    I do no know whether the problem is something to do with my export settings; settings in FCE; or whether FCE exaggerates the quality of my images (which i highly doubt); or if it is because FCE4 is now around 4 years old, and iMovie is from 2009, and therefore has more advanced settings for AVCHD?
    I am by no means a professional when it comes to talking video jargon.
    Any help is truly appreciated as i have completed over 150 test exports in FCE and the Final Cut experts at the Apple store spent almost 2 hours trying to work something about, but could not think of anything!
    Thanks in advance.

  • Can You Make Text Links Different Colours in DW Cs5?

    Hi everyone, in DW Cs5 how do you make text links on the same page different colours, I have some text links across the top of the page, these go with a certain colour scheme but some more on the page it's self these need to be a different colour.
    I have done this before by accident but unfortunately I have no longer got that file. Information for text in either html or css would be very helpful.
    Many thanks
    Gareth

    Change this:
    <style type="text/css">
    .def13grey4 {
         font-size: 14px;
         font-weight: bold;
         color: #333;
    .def14grey4 a {
         color: #333;
    </style>
    to this:
    <style type="text/css">
    .def14grey4 a:link{font-weight: bold; color: #333;}
    .def14grey4 a:visited{color: #999;}
    .def14grey4 a:hover,

    <p>Black Shirts #002</p>
    </td>
    To this:

  • Does anyone know why I get varying file sizes when I save a jpg (with same settings-None, 12, base "standard", preview checked) from PhotoshopCS5?

    I opened a .psd file (300 ppi, CMYK, .jpgs (1626px x 2130px), I saved it as a jpg (None, 12, base "standard", preview checked).
    I then closed the original .psd file.
    I repeated those steps on the same file and saved a series of 6 .jpgs.
    Of those 6 files, I received 2 large files (6.2MB) and 4 smaller (3.2MB) files.
    My coworkers who were having trouble opening some of my jpg images in Windows Photo Gallery on Vista OS were able to open the smaller files but not the larger ones.
    Do you have any idea why the same settings would give me different file sizes from CS5?
    Is there a way I can make it consistently keep the smaller more compatible version?

    How well a image data compresses depends on image content.   Image with High detail do not compress well image will little detail will compress well and the file size will be small. Compare a image of a blank white wall to a wall with a black and white checker board wall paper.  One is all white it white no other detail  to detail the other has squares that vary in size because of perspective angle and distance a lot of detail must be recorded.
    I do not know why they can not open some of your images. File size should not be an issue.   All your image decoded are the same size  Width number of Pixels Height numbers of pixels background layer only for these are jpeg files.

  • Quarter of upper part screen is different colour

    hi everyone-
    just wonder if any one else have the same problem- my top part of macbook screen where the apple logo is present has different colour to about the quarter of the length till the "GO" - this has happened after i have upgraded to leopard- no other visual problems noticed-- also i think the mac book have slowed down dramatically
    any suggestions will be appreciated

    I wouldn't know about the screen, as for the computer's speed, try doing a parameter RAM reset by rebooting, and before the computer starts up again, hold down Cmd-Opt-P-R and release AFTER you hear the startup chime for the THIRD time.

  • Can I use different colours for the different user accounts in my iCal?

    I have my own iCal and one for my boss. I need our appointments to show up in different colours so that I can tell at a glance which are mine and which are his. Currently our appointments show up on the same calendar, on top of each other, and both are coloured red.
    Can I change the colour of one of us?

    Thanks. If there are other people invited to the appointment it comes up with this
    So I don't want to 'move' it or cancel the original appointment. is there another way I can, for example, have my boss's appointments all come up green and mine all come up blue......

  • Iweb auto adjust for different computer monitor settings

    Nobody has the same display settings on their monitor, so how can I get iweb to auto adjust to different computer monitor settings?

    Are you referring to screen size? If so many prefer to have their browser window set to the size they want unlike PCs in which the browsers usually always fill the screen blocking out the desktop.
    Why not set your site width to a size that can be utilized by all, desktops, laptops and mobile devices. Apple recommends 980 pixel width for that.
    There was a post about this some time ago with, if I recall correctly, some code to do that. I think Cyclosaurus posted it but am not sure.
    I know its a personal preference but when I land on a site that forces my browser to fill the screen I leave and don't go back.
