Different colours shown in Lightroom.

Hi everyone,
Have been struggling with lightroom colours since i downloaded the trial version.
Technical Info:
All images used are Jpeg and nothing to do with RAW
Monitor: DELL 2209WA
Original profile: SRGB
Calibrated profile named Spyder pro 3
Calibrated by: Spyder pro 3
Lightroom version 3
Photoshop cs 5
SRGB in camera settings
Have been researching online for weeks since i have the colour problem and tried all sort of methods mentioned in forum and several website.
The jpeg colour straight out of camera shown on the monitor using firefox, photoshop and picasa photo viewer seem different from the version in Lightroom.
The jpeg imported in lightroom shown is more yellowish in colour, extra effort have been taken to make sure nothing has been changed during the importing process, all presets unchecked etc.
To ensure the colour in lightroom is a permanent colour view and not a temporary view. Exported it using SRGB and Calibrated profile.
If exported using SRGB, the colours will go back to the original colours shown in monitor. If exported using calibrated profile (Spyderpro 3) The colours of the jpeg (yellowish) in lightroom stays. (Viewed in firefox and picasa viewer)
However if viewed in photoshop, choosing embedded profile or convert to working space shows lightroom colours and if discard embedded profile is choose, the default colours shown in monitor is shown.
The colour profile used in photoshop is Spyper pro 3, and embedded profile in photo is SRGB
Calibration is done by adjusting brightness and RGB sliders to adjust white balance and kelvin as close to 6500k and luminance of 120.
After calibration, i will change the
device profiles in advanced to spyder pro 3
and viewing conditions profile to WCS profile for SRGB conditions
Default ICC profile is Spyder pro 3 afer calibration.
Conclusion, the initial colours shown in different program, esp lightroom vs the rest make me hesitant on which colours to trust and which to do editing on. I have no issues with the exported Jpeg, which i can get them to the colours i want.
Resetting all profiles to default(SRGB) solved this inconsistent colours issue between lightroom, photoshop and other programs, but now they are all consistently incorrect.
One problem solved in lightroom colours creates another problem, and this is already the third biggest problem i have.
I was having the export problem with colours, and after researching, found out that a matrix profile over LUT profile will solved the exported colours issues, but now with the matrix profile, i am getting inconsistency with the initial colours.
Many thanks in Advanced
YH

Do you have screenshots illustrating this?
Also, you have to be more specific about what you're comparing Lightroom with. Browsers are all over the map with regards to color management - IE, for instance, will not use the monitor profile, but substitute sRGB. XnView I know nothing about, but again, many applications claim to have color management when in reality they miss at least half of it.
And since you say you have the "same problem" as the previous posters, there are a lot of confused ideas there about what color management means - one of them even embeds the monitor profile in the exported file, which defeats the whole purpose and actually turns all resemblance of color management off.
So just to have it established: A fully color managed application, like Lightroom, converts from the source/document color profile to the monitor profile, on the fly, and that's what goes to the display. Of the web browsers, only Firefox and Safari will do that, and even then it requires that the document profile is embedded and doesn't get stripped somewhere (which can happen).
All that said, it is of course possible that the Spyder is making bad profiles. It could be that the sensor is malfunctioning. First of all I would check for software updates from Datacolor.
Another thing - what is your monitor model?
EDIT: Windows Picture Viewer (not to be confused with Windows Explorer) is fully color managed and should display identically to Lightroom. How does it look there?

  • Colours differ from Lightroom to Photoshop

    Hello,
Can someone tell me how it is possible that when I edit an image in Lightroom, it is much brighter and more saturated in Photoshop, than in Lightroom? Is it because you chose a colourspace? Is there a different colour-engine-source?
Is it Windows Vista that handles colours different? Because it seems to me that the Windows photogalery has more or less the same colours than lightroom. When I put one of them as a wallpaper on my desktop, they seem to have more distinct colours.

  • Colour Problems with Lightroom 5 Export

Apologies if this has been covered before folks.
I recently upgraded my laptop to a 64bit Windows 8 Asus with an IPS screen.
At the same time, I upgraded from Lightroom 2 to Lightroom 5, and have upgraded to 5.2.
When I export a jpeg from Lightroom, and then view that jpeg in anything (browsers, picasa, quicktime, windows bundled viewers etc) other than an Adobe product, I get a totally different colour scape: it's desaturated, the lights and darks are changed etc.
    I'm exporting in ProPhoto RGB
When I used Lightroom 2, I never had this problem.
Can anyone help? Apologies if I'm doing something stupid!
See the attached screengrabs to illustrate what I mean. The one showing the Lightroom interface is what I want to achieve, and the other one shows the results I get.

There was a strange ASUS profile there for some reason.
And that reason is probably called Windows Update. Considering the percentage of these profiles that turns out to be bad/wrong/out-of-spec/outright useless, it's a mystery that Microsoft still agrees to push them.
According to those who know, a monitor profile is a complex beast. But functionally it's very simple - it should be an accurate description of the display in question. If it isn't, it looks wrong in those applications that actually use it, like Lightroom.
But all of this assumes that the Lightroom version was actually the wrong one. That's the way it works with a bad profile.

  • How do I create a logotype with the letters in 2 different colours

I need help with a logo. I'm trying to create a logo were it's as though a lamp is shining on the type so part of the letters are in 2 different colours.

Set the type using the point text tool (meaning click then type, not click-drag-release then type). Use two type objects, one for each line.
Draw the path for the light with the pen tool, fill it with yellow, and move it to the back (Object > Arrange > Send to Back).
Select the top line of text and the spotlight and go to Object > Clipping Mask > Make.
Now select just the type objects with the Direct Select tool (white arrow) and fill them with blue.

How can i have different coloured text in a crawl, whenever i use any of the text funciotons, if i change the colour it changes the coulour for all the text, can i not just simply highlight bits and make them different colours?

Use the Boris Title Crawl generator that came bundled with FCP. It will allow you to assign different attributes to individual characters. Alternatively you can do this in Photoshop or with the CHV text generators. http://www.chv-plugins.com/cms/Fx-Script/Text-collection/Text-collection.php?nav anchor=1010026

  • Is there a way to make an anchor link display a different colour when selected? (active state)

I have a vertically scrolling site I am trying to set up, and it's all going well. Only problem is when you use the menu (widget or non-widget) to move to an anchor link, thus bringing in the next section, I can't get the link to diplay as a different colour.
This would be good for letting the user know what section is infront of them.
Is there a way to do this?
One other question: Is there a way to get an anchor link to display centrally in the middle of the page up and down. I can arrange it so it looks good in one browser window, but as soon as the user has more vertical space it seems to diplay a set distance from the top. I guess what I'm asking is can the anchor link define the center point instead of the top point?
    Many thanks!

    Hello,
Could you please elaborate what exactly you are referring to with "I can't get the link to diplay as a different colour"?
Regarding your second query, I am afraid it is not possible using Adobe Muse. However it can be a very nice feature request.
I would suggest you to post this as a feature request on our "Ideas for features in Adobe Muse" section of the forums : http://forums.adobe.com/community/muse/ideas

  • Multiple plots (different colours) on a single histogram?

I have a 2D array of data, and I would like to plot a histogram.
each row(with 8 elements) would be plotted in pairs, in 2 different colours.
My chart would  have to look something like the attached image.
My vi is also attached. Right now it displays the plot (one row for now),but I have a few problems:
    1) How to change the colour of each bar (to be like the excel graph)
    2) how to change the bar plot label ( so instead numeric values 1,2,3,...I would like to have a,b,c,... under each bar)
3)and how to remove the (0,0) point on  the graph, so you could see the first bar entirelyy, instead of partially.
I tried bundling the data , dynamic data, and a a bunch of other things  but couldnt get it to work.
    Thanks!!

You can create a histogram of each row by connecting the output of the General Histogram or Histogram VI's (in the Statistics Palette) to a Build Array. Connect the output of Build Array to a Histogram Graph. You can create a Histogram Graph by right clicking on the General Histogram or Histogram VI's Histogram Graph output terminal( Create>>Indicator). That should show you both histograms with different colors in one graph(they may be overlapping though, use the Bar Plots options to see what view is best). Unfortunately, I don't see how you could display it like the graph you posted, but you may create a button that controls a Histogram Graph by using Property Nodes. Right click on the Histogram Graph indicator in the Block Diagram(Create>>Property Node>>Plot>>Visible). If you connect a Boolean control to this property node and place that piece of code inside a while loop, you could turn your plots on and off. You can also create an Invoke Node(Right Click>>Create>>Invoke Node>>Export data to Excel) to Export data to Excel. Make sure you expand the Plot Legend on the upper right corner so you can see the second plot options.

You could choose None in Preferences > General > New Mail Sound and set up a rule for each account in Preferences > Rules as follows:

    Perform the following actions:

  • My iphone 4s screen turned freaked out before my eyes, changing all different colours, now it is blue and black along the right side with horizontal lines, and is flickering. I DIDN'T DROP IT.

I was just sitting on the couch scrolling through facebook, I closed out of that and went to open safari, when it spazzed out, for a few mintutes it looked like LSD vision, it was all different colours and flickering the whole time. I turned it off and on again, and plugged it into my computer and now the right side is nearly completely blue, and bleeds to the left side with horizontal lines, and it is still flickering. I just finished paying the **** thing off. I thought I'd get another year out of it. I have taken exemplary care of it and it hasn't left the case since the day I bought it. I haven't dropped it, there was no warning for the screen to start doing this. So my question is, is there an easy fix (I am about to restore and update it, and I already played around with the screen brightness), and if not, am I going to have to pay for the screen to be replaced, because I don't have that kind money.

Probably sounded funnier in your head.

  • Why are my identically coloured opaque images printing different colours? Is it a transparency issue

I have an object that is a plain white logo with a grey background - the file is a flattened psd file and has only the one layer.
when i place the logo into InDesign (CS5) onto a plain grey (the same colour as in the logo) background and print this simple combination, the grey background on the logo is a funny colour compared to that on the document background. they have the exact same RGB reference! they only appear different colours when printed; on screen they look great.
i thought that this was an issue with transparency and have tried playing around with having a transparent logo with no background and various transparancy flattener settings but nothings fixing the problem. the only thing that i managed to achieve was to make all of the grey one colour, but the funny coloured grey i was seeing just in the logo background!
when i go to window-output and check the flattener preview, i can see that i have no transparent objects whatsoever in my document.
any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated - its driving me MAD!
    thanks,
    becky

More to the point on this, I think, is that both RGB and CMYK values listed for any spot color are "best approximations" (many, perhaps most, spot colors have no good CMYK equivalent, and that would be true as well for some subset using RGB) using Pantone's unknown color space. Even in that space the probability of getting an actual match between the simulation and the true spot ink is close to zero. Using some other space makes things worse, and since there is no way to know the sapce in use at Pantone, you're kind of up the creek.
For CMYK converison you can do reasonably well by using the Ink manager to convert the spot to process and check the bok to Use Lab Values at the same time. For RGB, I have no idea how to come close, at all.
