Different Contact info on Same Apple ID for Itouch?

Is there a way to set up two different contacts on one Apple ID?  My young kids both have Itouches and can do facetime and messaging but they want seperate accounts because both devices ring when ever someone contacts them. I would prefer not to set up an email account.

Have a look here...

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Deleting an account from a device will not delete the information from the account, if that is what you are asking.

  • HT204053 i used the same apple id for my iphone and my husbands now all our contacts and such are on both phones how do i fix this.  I dont need his contacts on my phone and the other way also.  Should i create a different icloud account for his phone?

I used the same apple id for my iphone and my husbands now all our contacts and such are together.  How do I undo this?  Do i create him a different icloud account?

Yes, start with deleting your account on his device:
(Settings > iCloud or Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Your Account)
In the next step, create a new account on his device:
(Settings > iCloud or Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Your Account)

  • Family account for contacts but with same apple ID - iCloud use

Hi, I am writing to ask what the best way to setup a multiple contacts account using the same apple ID for iCloud.  My wife and I both use the same apple ID for our iPhones as well as our iMac and iPad.  I would like to be able to have my contacts on my iPhone and iPad and have my wife's contacts on her iPhone (and obviously having both our contacts on our iMac for backup and reference).  I have read some forums suggesting creating a "family" apple ID accout for some iCloud stuff where I could have my contacts linked to and then having our existing apple ID for her to use.  We share calenders, downloaded apps/purchases and some Documents and Data (Money app) - all of which I would like to keep the way I have described.  I would just like to be able to have my contacts and her contacts separate for iCloud purposes.  I read something about the primary and second account settings in the Mail/Contacts/Calenders but it isn't very clear.  I seem to
I have yet to venture creating such another apple ID account as I don't really know how to go about doing it.
    Thanking you in advance,
    Bill Cooley

Much easier to manage if you each have your own AppleIDs and computer logins.
You can easily share contacts and calendars through iCloud while still keeping them separate.
    You keep this AppleID.
She creates a new one and adds it on her iPhone in Setttings > Mail, Contacts & Calendars
These are your primary iCloud accounts
Now each of you go to Setttings > Mail, Contacts & Calendars and add an iCloud account.
Add the other's account (as a secondary iCloud account). You can select to use Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Bookmarks, Notes, Find My iPhone.
I have my daughter's iCloud account this way and I use Contacts, Calendars, Reminders. This way I can view or update her info from my iPhone/computer.

  • Same Apple ID for iTunes, but different Windows accounts...

My wife and I use the same Apple ID for iTunes, but we have different Windows 7 accounts on the same computer. I've uploaded a pile of CDs. ITunes Match seems to match them ok, but she can't see them from iTunes on her account. We could upload the CDs twice, once for each account, but that's a wicked waste of time. Is there a workaround for this?

iTunes Match is associated with only one Apple ID and cannot be shared across Apple IDs. For your wife to make use of iTunes Match and see the music in the cloud she must login to your Apple ID on the iTunes Store and she will have to stay logged in. This may cause difficulty when updating apps purchased with her Apple ID.
Also keep in mind that a computer can only be associated with one Apple ID for iTunes Match, automatic downloads and re-downloading of content once every 90 days: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627.

  • Same Apple ID for Itunes but different for Icloud?

Hi! Currently a Mac user with Android Phones and Google/Gmail accounts, contacts, cal, etc.
If the new Iphone and ICloud Drive fulfill expectations, my partner and I will be switching to the iphone and I will probably add an ipad to the mix as well.
I was originally planning to have us both share apple ID and backup to itunes v. cloud. But now I am rethinking that.  My question is: Can we share the same apple ID for itunes and have separate cloud ID's?  How does that work? And how do you set it up?
I know our current icloud ID is the same as our Apple ID which doesn't make sense if you can keep them separate?
    Thanks for helping a newbie!

If you are asking can you have an Apple ID and an iCloud account then the answer is, yes. With iCloud it will  sync all your devices and computers. I'm not going to get into discussing rumours as that's frowned upon. Here's what Apple has published about iCloud Drive: https://www.apple.com/ca/ios/ios8/icloud-drive/

I have two iphones, different telcos, i am using the same apple id for both - how can i use the 10GB icloud free memory of my new iphone 5?

    Thank you KiltedTim!
YES, that is the free 5GB icloud memory for each apple ID. Can I not add the free 5Gb of my second Iphone to my original apple ID (5GB also) as I want to use one Apple ID name on both 2 Iphones? Is it necessary to have a different apple ID for the second Iphone to avail the free 5GB it carries with it?

  • Hi i have the same apple id for my iPad and my mac. my iPhone has a different one. My i cloud on my mac seems to be the iCloud on my iPad, if that makes sense so its not sending my photos from my mac to the cloud. how do i change it to upload mac?

Did you go into Settings > Store and then tap your old ID, sign out and then enter your new ID?

  • HT204053 Can I use the same Apple ID for iMessage and FaceTime services from two different devices - iPhone and iPad?

Can I use the same Apple ID for iMessage and FaceTime services simultaneously on two different devices - iPhone and iPad? It seems those are competing to each other, and the services work on one of them only (iPhone).

Many thanks, Sir! Both are mine and it's good to know that imessage can work on both with the same Apple ID. Will now have to find out why imessage stopped working on iPad when it started on iPhone (new). After exploring the forum I understand  that there may be plenty of reasons why imessage does not work, even though it worked previously on the same device with the same ID.

  • Using the same apple ID for syncing, my devices are confused...

I have my daughter's, and my wife's iphones and ipads, signed into the same icloud account, so that we can all share our calendars, and contacts. However the problem is when I send a SMS or MMS to someone, it thinks that it is coming from my daughter's iphone. I've checked the settings, and the "my info" is clearly my contact info. Even Siri is confused when I ask her a questions, she answers back thinking I'm my daughter, and uses her name.
    Where is getting confused?
Thanks for any insights, as this has been driving me crazy.
    Greenerimpact

That's being caused by sharing the same Apple ID for iMessage.  To fix this you have two choices:
Configure each person's device(s) so they are using a different Apple ID for iMessage by going to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID.  Note: you can still share the same ID for purchasing in Settings>iTunes & App Stores; or
On all your devices go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at".  Also uncheck anyone else's phone number, if present.

  • HT4759 can you use the same apple id for two phones on the cloud?

can you use the same apple id for two phones on the same verizon account and if so can you keep there contacts etc. separate?

If you want to keep your contacts and other data you sync with iCloud separate, you'll have to create separate iCloud accounts, which will require different IDs.  If you share the same iCloud account/ID on multiple devices, the synced data will be merged and will appear on all devices syncing with the shared account.
You can still share the same ID for iTunes; it doesn't have to be the same as the one used for iCloud.

  • How do I use the same apple id for 2 iPads, but not share email, phone #, etc.?

I have had 2 iPads for a couple years, both using the same apple id. One is used primarily by my husband. Today I got notifications that my husband's ipad is now using all the same email addresses and phone number associated with mine. How do I change this?

You can set the same Apple ID for iTunes and App Stores, but have different Apple ID's for Messages, iCloud and Facetime.
    Settings->iCloud->Apple ID->Sign Out
    Settings->Facetime->Apple ID->Sign Out
    Settings->Messages->Send & Receive->Apple ID->Sign Out
Just go into Settings, and make sure the Apple ID set for those services is different for both iPads.

  • I am trying to import songs to my new macbook pro from my old computer using home sharing. Both computers say that home sharing is now on but neither show up in each other's library menu. I am logged on with the same apple id for both computers.

I am trying to import songs to my new macbook pro from my old computer using home sharing. Both computers say that home sharing is now on but neither show up in each other's library menu. I am logged on with the same apple id for both computers. and both are on a stable wireless connection

Logging into itunes store on each machine wth different Apple IDs is OK Autorising each others machines with the other Apple ID is OK. This is completley separate from Home Sharing
For Home Sharing to work you need to
File > Home Sharing > Create Home Share.
You need to select one of the two Apple IDs you are using and ENTER THIS ON BOTH MACHINES WHEN CREATING THE HOME SHARE.
    Home sharing will then work

  • We had one family apple id. I want to keep all devices on the same apple id for itunes but separate ones for everything else.  How do I change the others now.  We have 3 iphones and an ipad.

We had one family apple id.  I want to keep all devices on the same apple id for itunes but separate for everything else on the cloud. How can I change the other apple ids now? We have 3 iphones and an ipad.

Hi, thank you for this post.  I hope you might be able to help me too?
I am relatively new to apple (have an iPad) and having been a PC user for years I was pleasantly surprised with the apple experience and am now trying to work out the best set up for me, my husband and young son as I am buying them both of them apple products this Christmas.  New Mac laptop/ ipad for hubby and then an ipod touch for my son oh and a new mac laptop for me. We are also thinking of moving from Blackberries to iPhones. Yes we seem to be hooked! but i am unsure about the home family set up and how to replace my PC network that I run off an 8TB server.
In reading the forums I keep seeing people talk about problems they have with two apple IDs and trying to merge them. I have also heard about a family ID allowing us to share apps legally.  I am really nervous of setting us up wrong and then having problems later and hence i am now looking for some advice on how to share as much as we can legally but also make usage practical and not invading each others privacy. thoughts so far:
Music - I think we are happy to share the same music and access using one ID (we currently don't buy much music from apple but have lots of CDs we share).
Photos - It would be nice to share photos - as long as my son or husband cannot accidentally delete photos of mine (which is my biggest concern). I currently load all camera photos onto my 8TB storage box as the network owner and my husband has full access to copy any photo to his laptop but can never delete the original copies by accident.
Apps - If possible i would like us to share these but they are cheap enough these days to separate if really needed. Would be good to share licence for pages etc though
cloud, contacts, facetime, email -  this is what is making me consider separate IDs or learning how to have multiple users in one apple ID - I do not want to have to share synced contacts with my husband. I have near 300 contacts now through work etc and he will not want them plus i will not want his or him being able to delete mine by mistake. and then for email and facetime, well I want to give him his privacy so I do not receive his messages etc. especially now that we are considering switching to iPhones
Then last but not least, i don't know the best solution for my son. he is only 7 years old so even though I don't want to pay for things again I don't want him being able to download "just any" app from the purchased icon in Appstore. Also, is there a child friendly setting to prevent him from viewing inappropriate content on the internet?
Appreciate I have asked a lot of questions here but I am looking for any genuine advice out there. Thank you or other potential advisers in advance.

  • My wife and I got Iphone 4S same day 2 years ago. I used the same Apple ID for both. We do not use iCloud, but today after I updated my phone to IOS7 I keep getting her texts on my phone ans vice versa.

My wife and I got Iphone 4S same day 2 years ago. I used the same Apple ID for both. We do not use iCloud, but today after I updated my phone to IOS7 I keep getting her texts on my phone ans vice versa. I turned off imessage in message settings. Seems to have stopped now? Never did this before IOS7. Will I have more troubble when her phone updates to IOS7? Is icloud going to be forced on me then?

This is being caused by using the same Apple ID for iMessage on both phones.  To separate your messages, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and do one of the following:
Either uncheck the email address shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at" on both phones; or
If you want to continue to receive iMessages at this email address, on one of the two phones, tap the Apple ID at the top, sign out, then sign back in using a different Apple ID.
