Different countries, different caller IDs

I live in Japan and have UK, Malta and Japan Skype numbers.
I want my:
UK number to appear as caller ID in the UK (which works as UK is my default number)
Malta number to appear as caller ID when I call Malta (UK number appears)
Japan number to appear as caller ID when I call Japan (UK number appears)
... other countries, I don't care.
All three countries support caller ID, as per the Skype list in the sticky post.
Thanks!
Mike.

Yes, this gets asked a lot, usually in the itunes store forum. Here is the latest on that:

  • Different Caller IDs are desired to be displayed on each different call???

    Hi all,
My customer has just transitioned to SIP Trunk (to an ITSP). They use CUCM 10.5 and CUBE (2901 ISR G2). CUBE is used to communicate with the ITSP. Everything is working. Yesterday they gave me a call asking whether it is possible to show different caller id on each outbound calls without user intervention. Making it simple, assume that there is an extension 7575. The staff using this extension is responsible for making outbound calls to deal with customers who have outstanding accounts or unpaid bills. This staff realized that caller id displayed on called person's mobile phone had been blocked and thus the calls received from this company are rejected. That is why my customer desires to show different caller ids on each call to let his calls answered. ITSP has already allowed 10 PSTN number to be shown. But how would it be possible to change caller id in a round-robin fashion on every call? As the customer is using 3905 there is only one line and unfortunately the customer does not want to dial an additional prefix for this purpose.
Your advices are appreciated. Solutions based on CUBE shall be preferred...
    Regards,

    Dear Anas,
    Thank you for the response.
Believe me we have considered to deploy those technique. However all of three methods are not applicable. Because the customer does not allow grouping of users. Majority of aforementioned outbound calls are placed to mobile numbers. Translation rules are already used to display a specific caller id and to the best of my knowledge i cannot create a caller id pool by means of translation rules. In summary my customer desires to change caller id on each outbound call regardless of which group they belongs or to which destination they place call. Is it possible to achieve displaying different caller ids on every different outbound call?
    Thank you...

  • Different caller ID for different countries

    Hi,
Is it possible to use a different caller ID depending on the country called? I have a UK and a German Skype Number, and I'd like to use the UK number as default caller ID and the German one only for calls to Germany.
    Cheers,
    Tobias

I don't have the answer but would love to know this as well. I don't see the option in the UI anywhere and the help page to set it up shows an area of the screen that is blank when I login.
What are our options to get this enabled? I'm always getting questions from people when I call them about the number it's coming from.
    Thanks.

The recommended solution for most families is to share the same Apple ID for iTunes and App Store purchases, so you can share your purchases, but us different IDs for iMessage, FaceTime and iCloud.  With this arrangement, each person can automatically download purchases made on the shared ID (by turning this feature on in Settings>iTunes & App Stores), while keeping their FaceTime calls, text messages and iCloud data (including photo stream) separated.  There is no requirement that the ID you use for purchasing be the same as the ID you use for these other services.

Since I updated to iOS5, I now have two (2) different Apple IDs. The first is my original Apple ID (iMac); the second is my primary email address (iPad & iPod). How can I standardize on just one ID?

    No.
I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

  • Should I have different Apple IDs for different family members or one?

We are four members in a family, sharing the same iMac computer but each having a separate device (such as an iPod, iPad and iPhone). I'm wondering if it would be best to have separate Apple IDs for each family member to manage things like iMessage, iTunes purchases and so on. I'd appreciate any advice you can provide. Cheers!

The ideal would be to have different Apple IDs for each member. This will allow them to set up their accounts as they like and be able to use iCloud without worrying about the possibility that other members can see their personal data. However, if you want to purchase an app for all the members, you will have to purchase it for each account

  • I am trying to store music for two different iPods on the same computer, against two different Apple IDs. When I try and download content from the Cloud I get an error message?

I am trying to store music for two different iPods on the same Windows 8 computer, and when I try and download content from the Cloud I get an error message. Is it possible to have two different Apple IDs on the same computer?

Unfortunately you've discovered too late how important it is to maintain an up-to-date backup of your iTunes library (and all other data of value).  You could, before wiping the drive, have considered making use of a commercial data recovery service that could (albeit at considerable cost) have extracted your library from the hard disk, even if virus infected.
In the absence of that option, you will need to restore the content of your library from its original sources:
Depending on your location, you may be able to re-download any iTunes Store purchases that are still available on the Store
Likewise, most digital purchases from Amazon (including auto-rip copies of purchased CDs) should be available from the Amazon Cloud and via the Amazon Music application - the same may be true of other commercial sources for digital downloads
Content imported from your CDs will have to imported again
The specific situation that you describe regarding the music imported from your friend's external HDD suggests that either the source is badly organized and/or originates from a source other than iTunes (other media players may use alternative tags for information like artist, title, album, etc. that are not wholly consistent with how iTunes handle these).  Without details of the issues you're seeing it is difficult to suggest a remedy other than going through the media album-by-album, track-by-track, and correcting the inconsistencies.
In the absence of a backup or access to the original library data there is no option other than painstakingly recreating your library as described above.  As you do so, you'll now realize how important creating and maintaining backups are - in my case I have at all times three separate duplicates of my library, in two different locations, where none is ever more than a week old compared to the content of my master library.

  • Different Apple IDs for iTunes and iCloud

As a legacy from MobileMe,  I have one Apple ID for iTunes (around 10 years old) that has all of my purchases, and another for iCloud (created later as a requirement of MobileMe) that has all the email, syncing, etc.  Apparently now I can't use Family Sharing because I am signed into iTunes and iCloud with different Apple IDs.
This has caused other issues as well for years, and I would like to once and for all have one Apple ID for both iTunes and iCloud.  What will happen if I start signing into iCloud with my original iTunes Apple ID?  I'm assuming I will lose the following:
-- Any email in the cloud
    -- All calendar info
    -- All notes
    Am I correct?
    Anything else I would lose?
Any way to avoid losing all this?
Is there a better way to solve this issue?
Thanks in advance for any help or insight.

I subscribed to iTunes Match and would like to sync my music on multiples devices that have different Apple IDs within the same iCloud family.
Can someone indicate the way to proceed?

    Hi,
You can't use family sharing or multiple Apple IDs with iTunes match.
ITunes match is only attached to Apple id that you used to subscribe.

I have 2 iphones 4s's, ones my wife and one is mine. we have different apple IDs, can we share one itunes account?? if so, how??

If you haven't set up your own Apple ID already don't.  I suggest you use the same apple ID as your wife's.  The alternative is to do this http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1848.  It's not efficient as you have to swap apple id's to update apps under both IDs.  20/20 being hindsight, I would have never created a 2nd apple ID for my wife.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT204053 I have different iCloud IDs for my iPhone &Mac and I have 5GB on each, if I decide to use only 1 ID for both, can I have 10GB or will I be limited to 5 since it's 1 iCloud ID.

I have different iCloud IDs for my iPhone &Mac and I have 5GB on each, if I decide to use only 1 ID for both, can I have 10GB or will I be limited to 5 since it's 1 iCloud ID. I am afraid that if I I use only 1 iCloud ID for both of them I will be limited to only 5GB which is small a nd I don't have money to be paying annually for extra GB. Thanks and waiting for your replies.

The free 5GB allowance is per account, not per device.
If you back up to iTunes, 5 GB should be more than enough for the average user.

  • Wife & I have different Apple IDs & can't link as Family?

Why can't my wife and I have different Apple IDs, join as "family" and use the same iCloud storage?  When Apple showed the iOS 8, the idea of building a family would allow all users, (ours have iPhone each, an iPad each, and one iMac that supports iCloud) to use the same iCloud storage.  That is what "family" ment to me.  Is there any way to fix this unfriendly family setting to work better, or must I buy more storage?

Family sharing doesn't include sharing the same storage plan, at least not at the present time.  Storage cannot be shared between two iCloud accounts/IDs.

It is best to stop making all new apple IDs, as software is permanently tied to them, and you can't converge them. Make differnt ones if you plan to get divorced though....
