Different Fonts/Bolding on publish?

I recently upgraded to iLife 08 and I found that when I publish my website, some of the fonts are bolded or are entirely different for no reason what-so-ever. Anyone else had this problem and how would I fix it? Just to let you know, I'm viewing this on the latest version of Safari.

This is what Apple has to say about it....
New features in iWeb may cause some photos, text, and objects on your existing webpages to align differently after you upgrade to iWeb 2.0.
To correct page layouts after upgrading:
Make manual adjustments to pages as necessary.
Photos and blog summary pages may need more attention than other types of pages.
Choose File > “Publish All to .Mac.”
And that's what you have to do!

  • Fonts bolded on publish?

    Hey
Does anyone know why my iWeb pages have normal text when viewed in iWeb but most of the text suddenly appears to be bolded when I view the pages in any of the web browsers I have (Safari, Firefox, Omniweb...). I've tried trashing the preferences, logging into a new account, trashing the webpage and starting from scratch, but nothing seems to work. Most of the text does this but I have had a couple of text boxes that do appear normal.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

I don't have a server currently so I can't post it for inspection.
I'd have to e-mail a copy of the page.
But the problem is as I said above. When I publish and then check in the browsers Arial Regular is thickened so that it looks like Arial Bold, Verdana Regular looks like Verdana Bold. The thickening is just slightly less than the actual bold for that text but it's very close to full bold size. The same thing happens with the actual bolded versions of all the fonts I have. They are all thicker than they appear in iWeb or any of my word processors. The extra size is throwing off my paragraph formatting forcing words onto the next line. It's bizarre.
I'm checking the html code but I can't seem to find what's causing it.
    Thanks for asking.

  • Is it possible to create different font styles within the same text field?

The form I am creating is getting really complex because when different fields require different font treatments (bold, italic, different font size, different font) I have to create a seperate text box and get it to align with the others. This wouldn't be an issue in most cases but this form is really detailed and has many text boxes. Before I stuggle too much longer on it, I thought I would check and see if there is a way to make them all in the same text field. If not, perhaps I am trying to use Acrobat for something it is not meant for. Any recommendations on other programs I could use? Thanks

Thank you try76. I'm not sure if I did it correctly. As soon as I tick the Rich Text Formatting box it automatically changes the appearance of the text in the field (Helvetica Light to something like Helvetica Heavy) I can't seem to get the font back to Helvetica light or change the font size while the Rich Text Formatting box is ticked.

    Hi ,
    Thanks for reply.
Using IAttributestrand::GetLocalOverrides I am able to get the range of characters with same font attribute, But I am retriving font name and font style as null.

  • Keyboard shortcuts for making font bold, italics & underlined

When I'm editing pages using Chrome I can use CTRL+B to make font bold, CTRL+U to underline and CTRL+I for italics.
Is there's any hotkeys to do this in Firefox.

Does that editor have a toolbar with icons to perform these actions?
It is possible that these buttons have a shortcut and you may have to use a different status key like Alt + Shift.

  • Can't make font bold, shortcut stopped working

In the last week or so a few of our users have no longer been able to use the keyboard shortcut to make some fonts bold even though you can go select the bold from the type menu so obviously the bold version is installed and active. After talking with others in our group, some of them have had this happen in the past and then things resolved on their own.  I researched this and found the thread here
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2653026#2653026
which mentioned that some fonts don't contain the data to indicate that they contain a bold version, but that theory doesn't seem to apply in our situation. We use a set of corporate fonts that have not changed and the same version of the fonts are installed on all our computers, which are all cloned off a single image so set up is identical. Some users can make the fonts bold using shortcuts and others cannot, so I don't think it has anything to do with the font itself not containing the proper data or it wouldn't work on any of the computers. Also, if I switch to a different user on the same computer I am able to use the shortcut keys so again. Could there be any other reason why the shortcut keys would simply stop working? I've tried replacing InDesign's preference files and that does not work either. We are running CS4 on OS X 10.5.8.

Just wanted to follow-up. I have been in contact with Extensis regarding this issue and they were able to replicate it with several of our fonts. The very nice representative I've been working with said that the issue would be passed on to their product managers to review for a possible fix in a future release. Until then if you add your fonts in place rather than into the fontvault, your shortcuts keys in InDesign should work fine.
I'm having this issue on the latest version of InDesign. At first I thought it was related to Suitcase, but after updating Suitcase to the latest version, trashing all my prefs and FontVault, re-adding all my fonts, and clearing all my system's font caches, the problem still happens.
Then I realized it's not related to Suitcase at all, but to certain font families. I'm not sure what causes it, maybe it's because these families have a Roman, Regular, Bold, Extra Bold, Black, Condensed, Bold Condensed, etc. and it just doesn't know which one to pick, so it does nothing? It should at least toggle between Roman and Bold, though!
This is a very frustrating problem. Anyone know how to fix it? I even tried making a character style called "Bold" and setting a shortcut for it, but any keys I press to set the shortcut, it just beeps at me and nothing happens! Argh!

  • Indentifying different fonts in Excel programatically

I have text data with different font in Excel sheet now I want that  program should identify that font and apply automatically to that data. any one help plz ......
    thanks

    You can use the
Font property of the Range class, for example:
    Sub CheckFont()
    Range("A1").Select
' Determine if the font name for selected cell is Arial.
    If Range("A1").Font.Name = "Arial" Then
MsgBox "The font name for this cell is 'Arial'"
    Else
MsgBox "The font name for this cell is not 'Arial'"
    End If
    End Sub
    Also you may find the
Font property of the Characters class helpful, for example:
    With Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("B1")
    .Value = "New Title"
    .Characters(5, 5).Font.Bold = True
    End With

  • Character styles that accommodate different fonts?

I suspect this is hopeless, but I thought I'd ask in case anyone has a great idea I can't think of.
I use a basic formatting script that runs through a newly placed text file and makes a series of typographical corrections -- getting rid of double spaces, etc. One of the things it does is to apply a character style "Italic" to certain phrases, like i.e., et al., and so forth.
Then I go through and apply the correct paragraph to the text elements. The problem is that certain text elements are in different fonts, for instance, the figure captions are in Univers. When I apply the paragraph style, the items tagged as "Italic" become undefined, because in Univers the italic is called "57 Oblique."
Can anyone think of a way to apply italics to a phrase in such a way that when you change the font, it doesn't become undefined?
    Thanks...

Alas -- no. It's this way, or No way.
When I have to use a font combo that doesn't allow a single Italics style, I generally go with 'standard' italics for the main text. If ID complains about a "[Univers Italic]" because that seems to be used in a Univers heading or caption, I create a new style "univers italic" (no use in beating around the bush!) and search for the font "[Univers Italic]", replacing it with the new style -- ID allows searching for non-existent fonts.
You might think, "but you use the Ctrl+Shf+I shortcut for both fonts to get the italic style", and you might be right. Then again, if Adobe implemented something like that by putting an "I" checkbox (and "B" for bold!) in the Styles panel, it'd get harder to defend their 'no-faux fonts' policy -- and I, for one, am certainly not suggesting they should.

Sets or modifies the valid output format for list output statements (WRITE, ULINE).
The formats set by FORMAT are effective from the next output operation to the list, i.e. from the next WRITE command or from the next new line.
The addition ON for switching on the relevant output format is optional.
You can also set the static additions ON, OFF and n (for COLOR) dynamically with = var (for further information, see end of this documentation).

  • Completely frustrated with wysiwyg and font changes in published page

    H, Everyone--
Can anyone help me? When I work in editing mode, I have
selected font (and link) sizes and colors in the format - page
properties menu. They are arial font, size 10, white. But when the
page is published, the text is in a different font, and the links
    are blue.
There is something overriding my choices, and I can't find
what it is. I wonder if the previous web designer in our office set
    up something for the site.
Advice greatly appreciated! I can't seem to find the answer
    to this question.

    Todd,
That field is the font style field, not a "Paragraph" field. It just happens to be next to the button that changes the control panel to paragraph mode.
Is the file you posted the same one you made the jpeg from, or the one where you changed that field to "regular"? I'm thinking the latter, because the paragraph shows regular when I highlight it. Also, I don't think the font in the jpeg has changed, just it is printing gibberish on that last line.
Try this: File > Export and for type choose Interchange format (.inx). Open that file in InDesign and save again as an InDesign document. See if that prints.
If not, I'd say it's almost certainly the driver.

  • Different fonts in the same field

Is it possible to format a single field with two different fonts. I have concatenated two database columns to get this field. But I want different fonts for the two columns. I could achieve this by using a format trigger and placing some html tags. But this solution only works if the output is in HTML style sheets. It does not work if I want the output to be in PDF. Does anybody know how to achieve it in PDF? Is it possible at all (from what I have seen it isn't). I will be grateful for any help in this direction.
    Thanks
    Janaki

    Hi!
    Try this:
Let say you have scott/tiger and emp-table and want to concatenate and print ename and job in the same field but with different fonts.
    1. In the Database model you have the columns seperate as usual.
    2. Create a boileplate text field and put &ENAME &JOB in this field.
    3. Select &ENAME and set the right font to it, set another font for &JOB.
    4. Run and test. This should work...

  • While editing a scanned pdf, Acrobat will not recognize the current font & change to very different font. How can I choose the font I want to match the current document?

While editing a scanned pdf, Acrobat will not recognize the current font & change to very different font. How can I choose the font I want to match the current document?

Thanks for answering. The version is XI.0.10. I just did the update yesterday hoping that I could now properly edit a scanned pdf document. Yes, it's happening on most all scanned documents. I followed your steps & found the list of fonts used in the document & then attempted to edit. The same occurs. When I type in a correction, I get an error alert... "the original font (in this case Fd 5805) is not available or can't be used in editing. Acrobat is using the font Minion Pro in its place."
When I select the text & right click as you suggested, my only choices are cut, copy, delete or select all, no "edit text".
I have no other options to choose another font. Thanks for any help you can direct my way.

  • How to be able to print on reply in color and different font

I want to be able to send e mail relpys in color or a different font.

Do you currently use HTML formatting?
    Don't know or unsure?
'Tools' > 'Account Settings' > 'Composition & Addressing' for the mail account
    or
'Menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Account Settings' > 'Composition & Addressing'
Select 'Compose messages in HTML format'
    click on 'OK'
See second image below as an aid.
If yes, then you should see the 'Formatting bar' in a 'Write' window.
If you cannot see it, maybe it needs to be enabled:
View > Toolbars > Select 'Formatting Bar'
    see first image below.
Anything set via the Formatting Bar will only be used in that email.
For helpful info at this link:
    * http://en.flossmanuals.net/thunderbird/composing-messages/
There is also an addon which can be used to auto quote colours in eg: Replies.
    * https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/quote-colors/
download to desktop or downloads folder.
    How to install:
    In Thunderbird
    Tools > Addons
    or
    Menu icon > addons
click on gear wheel icon and select 'Install addon from file'
    see third image below.
Locate the file you just downloaded and click on 'Open'.
You may need to restart Thunderbird.
