Different image behavior within same document

Hello,
I'm making a catalog for which I got photos  from various sources but mainly white background JPGs. I noticed that  when I place them in InDesign document some of them have transparent  background and some not. I checked in photoshop and background value is  the same for all of them but they behave differently. For example, when I  click on an element in a picture with a transparent background InDesign  automatically recognizes border of an element in the picture which can be quite useful   if you want to change background color inside InDesign but I don't know how to  achieve that intentionally. Here is one pic so you can see how it looks like.
http://picpaste.com/pics/scrshot-yowfgk4r.1296572291.jpg
Thanks for helping me with this!

JPGs cannot be transparent. JPGs cannot have Clipping Paths.
You need to create a Clipping Path in Photoshop and aply the Path and save the image as a PSD or a TIFF
http://www.graphic-design-employment.com/photoshop-clipping-paths.html
Alternatively you can remove the background and save as a PSD or TIFF (select to save transparency in the options)
http://www.google.ie/search?q=photoshop+remove+background&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.m ozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
You can of course use within InDesign the Object>Clipping Path>Options and Detect Edges
Alter the Tollerance and Threshold to get desired result but it probably won't be as accurate as the above methods.

  • How do I apply different margins to different section in the same document?

In Pages 5, how do I apply different margins to different section in the same document? there are is no layout break like in Pages 4.

Use the Text Format Pane, Layout Tab, Indents.
You could do the same thing by dragging the margin stops on the Ruler.

  • Different Footnote Styles within one document

I work in InDesign 5.5. Currently I'm working on a project that requires different footnote styles within one document (1, 2, 3, . . . and a, b, c, . . .). How can I set them up as different styles? If I make a change in the Document Footnote Style section, all the footnotes are changing, but I need them different for different sections. How do I do that? Your help is appreciated. Thank you.

I'm working on a book interior. The book interior has two sections, a intro section and a regular text section. For the intro section footnotes should be styled as a., b., c., etc. and for regular text the footnotes should be styled as 1., 2., 3., etc. It seems though that I can only select one style in the Document Footnote Style section, but I need two different styles.

  • Difference in color within same document

    Hi,
I am running into a peculiar problem within Illustrator CS4.
I designed a logo and made another copy to change the shape a little bit.
I like the color of the first logo more, but prefer the reshaped second logo.
    Here is the problem:
The first logo has a color of 70% K. When I take the Hex (which is different, despite both having the same CMYK value) and paste into the revised logo, the color comes out different.
I attached a picture that hopefully describes what I am running into.
    Any input?

    Hi Monika,
I tried using the eyedropper. Same result.
The problem still remains. Still CMYK (70% K only), but different shade of gray as well as different HEX#. Both shapes are in the same document (and should thusly carry the same color profile, right?).
I took another picture and left the appearance pane as well as the transparency pane open.
Here is another picture. I chose the eyedropper and picked the gray from the top logo and applied it into the box, then opened the color picker box to look at the values. This is the top red circle, going along with the top logo.
I did the same with the bottom logo. Used the eyedropper to get the color our of the bottom logo to the gray box. Opened the color picker again and got a different HEX and different color of gray once I transfered the color.
    Is this making sense?
Simplified--the same documents is giving me two different color outputs despite the same color value.
SOMEONE NEEDS TO HAVE AN ANSWER!! ahhhh *head spinning*
    Thank you!!

  • Ctrl+Shift Pasting within Same Document

So I dont know if this is possible, if its not, I'd like to request it be added to future releases
I have an animation which requires all frames be on the same document, for example, if the animation was 50x50 pixels, and there were 10 frames, my document would be 500hx50w
actually 501 pixels high, as the first pixel row is the animation data
Now, I've created control boxes for each animation, which are 50x50, of alternating colors, so that each animated frame can be easily selected
Now, lets say i want to change one part of the frame 1 animation a bit for frame 2.. Here is how I proceed:
I select the first colored control box, to get the marching ants around the first 50x50 square frame
I select my element within that area on the layer for the item I want in my next frame, then Ctrl+C it
I deselect the Control Box, then select the second control box for frame 2, to get the marching ants around that colored box
I Create a new layer and hit Ctrl+V (or just paste to new layer, result is the same) and it just pastes it in the middle of the box, not aligned with where I need it to be
Hitting Ctrl+Shift+V seems to do nothing at all, whereas one would fully expect it to paste the object int eh exact position within the box that it was copied from
Can anyone help figure out how to paste in place within selections in the same document in Photoshop?
I'm not seeing a solution to this

I also tried Marching ants around the first box, selecting the element I wanted, Hiding other layers as well as the control box, copying merged and pasting over the second control box when it had the marching ants.. that didnt work
tried the same thing but pasting into a new document, it pasted in place to the new document fine, but wouldnt copy / copy merged & paste into my selection properly, it just pasted in the middle
Pasting in the middle is the default action, and it works great and is very useful.. but paste in place seems to have no function here whatsoever.. its like its been forgotten about.. and theres no reason it shouldn't work..

  • Paste loses all formatting within same document

In all three of my iWork '09 applications, Cut and Paste loses all the formatting of the object I'm trying to copy within the same document.
In some cases I can copy the object, then copy the style, then paste the object, then paste the style, which works albeit in a very cumbersome way.
But to move a table around (within the same document!) this doesn't work at all and I'm reduced to dragging the object, which often doesn't work properly.
Any ideas on what's gone wrong? I'm on Lion now running on a 2006 Mac Book Pro 3Gb, but the same behaviour was evident in Snow Leopard.
    Cheers,
    i

Would be useful to select a table (so that it has its eight handles then Copy and paste in the other location.

You can create different out put types for the same PO, in case you need different layouts that is different forms like MEDRUCK. Please refer below link to create out types . If you want that PO as fax or e-mail can use same out put type .Thanking you.

  • Number range based on different business area for same document type

    Hi All,
The scenario is my client wants to give the different number range for a particular document type based on different business area.
Is there any user exit by which I can restrict the same.
    Regards,
    Meenakshi

    Hello,
Document number ranges are created per company code and fiscal year. You cannot create / restrict the document number ranges per business area.
Business areas a independent of all organizational values, they cut across all company codes.

This is the result of a preference setting. In the General section of the prefs set the radio button for "When Scaling:" to "Apply to Content" instead of "Adjust Scaling Percentage" and the values will reflect their true dimensions. In tyhe meantime you can select the object and open the menu on the end of the Control panel and choose Reset Scaling to 100% to reflect the actual weights.

  • Different margins in the same document

So if I understand this right, the only way to have different margins in different parts of a document is to (a) set the document margins to the smallest ones needed, and then (b) break the document into sections and set the layout for each section to increase the margins to the desired point for that particular section. Right?

    Partially.
There are two types of margin. The margin you set with the Document Inspector is global for the whole document. The Layout Margin that you set with the Layout Inspector is relative to that but can't be negative i.e. you can't make it smaller than the document margin as you said.
The bit where you were slightly incorrect is that you can adjust the layout either after a Section Break or after a Layout Break. Layout Breaks don't start on new page like Section Breaks so can be useful sometimes.
    I hope that helps.

  • Differing image sizes from same stock

PPCS4 project using imported DVD footage (1440 x 1080). Processed clips - eg nested/freezeframe/effect are approx 1/4 the size of unprocessed clips, when viewed in program window and when encoded. Strangly video options > scale to frame size, corrected some to full size but not others. If scale to frame size unchked on all clips and program screen set to 75% only two freeze frames noticably smaller, when played in PP. No idea why only two but cud have lived with that. However when encode (264 HDTV 1440 x 1080 or 1280 v 720) again with export settings screen set at 75% and centered, once encoder window opens the visual area is approx 1/4 of the encoder screen and once encoded same with the player - ie large black surround
Cropping gives a sort of a soltn but the quality is down.
    All suggestions welcome

Man I just didn't understand any of that question.

  • Calling two different data sources within same transaction

    Hi,
I have a method (in an Entity Bean), which I need to use two data sources.
But the system give this error when I try to do it.
An illegal attempt to use multiple resources that have only one-phase capability has occurred within a global transaction.
Please help me to solve this problem.
    Best Regards,
    Chamal.

I hope you need to use XA Drivers (while create the connection pool it self you need to choose the XA Drivers) for this. else you need to use the userTranscations instead of containers.
Because other database drivers won't support this feature.
Please try any of this. Using XA drivers is costly interms of performace.

  • Multiple views of same document

Is it possible in Pages to look at two different views of the same document? In Microsoft Word there is Split Screen which allows this. It is very useful for copying and pasting within a long document. I have not been able to find a way to do this with Pages which means when I copy and paste within a long document I have to copy, then move all the way through the document to the spot to paste. It would be much easier to see both where I copy and where I paste on the same screen.

Thanks, so this is the download button!
It's the default GUI in the iDisk.
I try to write useful scripts but refuse to waste time upon GUI details.
Install the script in the Script Menu as described in the intro.
When you want to open a document with two windows, don't do that from the Open menu but from the "Open twice" one which will be available in the Scripts menu.
You will be asked to navigate to the document.
When it will be selected, the script will store a replicate of the file in the system's temporary items folder and will open this replicate (as read only) and the standard document so you will have two windows with the same document which is, if I understood well, what you need.
This screenshot shows the way the script is stored.
This one shows my own Scripts menu.
this late one shows the two windows on the screen (note that the one on the right claims that it is 'locked' "verrouillé" in French).
    CAUTION
I discovered that the version installed in the idisk is not the late one.
Download the late one to get a correct behavior.

  • How do I remove or delete files within a document folder? I have tried dragging the files to the trash and it does not work

How do I remove or delete files and image files within a document foler?  I have tried dragging the files to the trash, but that is not working.

Right-click (or ctrl-click) on a file. If the "move to Trash" option is greyed out, select "get info" and read the permissions at the bottom of the info window.
    Wat are they?
Do the same for the enclosing folder - what permissions does that have?

  • Greek and latin fonts in the same document?

    Hello
May be this is not the right forum for such question, however.
For the moment I'm a student of Greek,( the language), and I just  would love to put down words  using different alphabets in the same document.
Using the  Character Map could be one tedious  option.
Two keyboards  used intermittently may be one.
The ideal solution would be a keyboard where the individual keys could change function.
I wonder what people in countries having such alphabets (Greek, Kyrrilic etc.) do when they do business with the English-speaking.
    Any ideas would be welcome.
    T.

In the Windows Control Panel, look in Regional and Language Options > Keyboards and Languges. Click on 'Change Keyboards', which brings up the 'Text Services and Input Languages' dialog.
In the 'General' tab, click on 'Add', to add the language of your choice. The Language Bar is a small control panel that appears on the desktop (you can also dock it in the Windows Taskbar), which allows you to easily switch keyboard layouts. Note, though, that the keyboard shortcuts  for the language Bar will steal the ALT key from Photoshop, so it's best not to use them.
