Different in/out audio sources possible?

Is it possible to use one audio source for input and another one for output in Logic Pro 7.1 on MacOS 10.4.2?
This is what I'm trying to do:
- Audio in: Logitech USB Headset (mic and headphones)
- Audio out: Emagic A62m (external USB sound card)
The problem is, I can only select one audio driver in Logic. If I select the USB headset, I can record with the headset mic, but then all outgoing sound from Logic is played through the headset only. If I instead select the Emagic A62m audio driver, the sound is played through the sound card but I can't use the headset mic to record.
The system sound and sound from all apps except for Logic is played through the Emagic soundcard, which is set up as default sound out in system prefs. The headset is set as the default input source.
The Emagic sound card doesn't have any mic-in port, neither has my Powermac G5. I can't afford a soundcard with a mic input PLUS a good quality mic. This is why I plan to buy a good quality USB mic like
-Blue Snowball (http://www.macobserver.com/columns/rantsandraves/2005/20050722.shtml) or
-Samson C01U (http://www.samsontech.com/products/productpage.cfm?prodID=1810&brandID=2)
But unless I find out a good way to use the mic as a mic and loudspeaker at the same time :-D it seems that it will be pretty impossible to use a USB mic with Logic?
Even in such a simple app as Garageband it is possible to select a different source for sound in and sound. How can I setup Logic the way I need?

since apple took over logic, and the development into OSX.. the way audio, midi and logic work are all tied in at an operating system level. so it's just how you look at it: from tiger onwards, logic does have this feature built in.
for them to go and add separate audio features to logic now would be a complete reversal of everything that was intended with OSX and core audio.

  • Capture from different video and audio sources ?

Hey guys, I'm running Adobe CS4 Master Collection.
In the past I've used Premiere to record the video and Soundbooth to record the audio. Then I would import the recorded audio into premiere.
Thinking about the workflow this seems kind of long winded, really what I should be able to do is record the audio from my video camera and the audio from my microphone (not video cam audio), at the same time within premiere.
Just wondering if anyone has a way of doing this ?
In the capture screen options it only allows selection of the video source with the audio automatically coming from the video camera - not what I want.
Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

    Jason,
    Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, this was posted to the Premiere (not Pro) forum, and belongs in the Premiere Pro forum, as you have CS4. The best reason for that is that there is much more traffic out in the PrPro forum, so you'll get more responses.
Now, to address your question: I see your normal workflow as being the best one. You are talking about the Video from your camera and then narration. Doing them as separate operations will be the easiest and the best, as they are, well separate operations.
One possibility would be to hook your mic to an XLR input on your camera, preview the footage and record your additional Audio Track to the tape, or card. However, you are then faced with having more than the 2 origianl channels of Audio. You would need to use SceneAlyzer Live (for SD material), or HDVSplit (for HD material), to Capture those additional channels of Audio for use in PrPro, as it will NOT Capture them.
I'd guess that the time to do that sort of workflow would be as long, as doing it your way. Also with your way, you can redo botched narration much more quickly.
Maybe someone has another method, to run both Soundbooth and PrPro at the same time, other than on side-by-side computer, but you'll still have the issue of bothched narration - gotta' get it 100% the first time, or you'll be really playing "catch up."
    Good luck,

  • Cutting with a different audio source

    Hi,
my main purpose working with FCE is to cut Videos from my seminars and lectures. The camera (with built in microphone) is usually stationary and I have a head-set microphone which is amplified in the (big) room and recorded on a MP3-Recorder.
For cutting I would like to use the audio source from the mp3-recorder, it is much clearer, does not have any disturbances from the audience etc...
The problem is, that the timing does not really match between the two machines. For example I have a lecture with 1:08:20 video but the recorded audio on the mp3 recorder is (for whatever reason I do not understand) 1:08:28 long.
I have not yet found a solution for this. Is it possible to put markers on the two files (video and audio) in the timeline at exactly the same point and then say "stretch video to match audio markers"?
    Any help much appreciated. THX

Convert the MP3 file to an AIFF file with the settings that match your FCE Sequence. Typically that would be AIFF at 48khz, 16 bit.

  • Trouble syncing two different audio sources

I have a JVC miniDV camcorder that does not have an external mic jack, but it does record sound in stereo from the internal microphone. I have rigged up my video ipod to record with a stereo lavalliere microphone on the person I am interviewing, then it's transfered to itunes. It records wonderfully, however when I try to mix the two audio sources in imove 06 or in Garageband, the recordings become out of sync in a few seconds. Any suggestions?

I think I resolved the issue. Here's the scoop. Apparently, the setting on my JVC camcorder (GR-D370U) was set to 12 bit.
Also, the MicroMemo XtreameMac ipod recorder has two quality settings to record on Low- 22.05 kHz and High-44.1 kHz.
the files are then saved in WAV format.
I did a one minute test run with the camcorder set at 16 bit and the ipod recorder set at "high." I put them both on imovie 06 and YES it worked! It never went out of sync!
I am not sure I totally understand why the two now match up, because I thought that the camcorder audio records at 48 kHz, but I'm not complaining! Anyway, thanks for everyone's comments. When I can afford to upgrade to a new camcorder with mic jacks, I will. But in the meantime, this will do!

  • Why does Premiere Pro CS5 process audio source before exporting clip in AME CS5?

Hello everyone, my first post here. I am currently trying out the trial CS5 Master Collection on my MacBook Pro. I've been using Premiere Pro CS5 to put together family videos. I select a certain portion of a sequence and queue it for export in Media Encoder CS5 in the format H.264 for iPod with video and audio.
Now in AME I have a queue list of about 5 clips from the sequence. But when I hit the Start Queue button, the bottom left of the progress bar states "Adobe Premiere Pro processing audio source from [then file name]"  for all 5 clips from the sequence then creates the first output file.
Then it moves to encode the second and again states "Adobe Premiere Pro processing audio source from [then file name]"  for all 5 clips of mt sequence then spits out only the second output file.
This continues for the remaining 3 output files. The total sequence length is ~32 minutes with transitions and it takes about 35 minutes to export which is all consumed by the process audio source of the 5 clips in my sequence for 5 separate times.
Is there a certain reason why Media Encoder or Premiere Pro does this process of audio source? Is this process necessary or needed? I experimented with choosing different output formats but the results are the same. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Now that's pretty good follow-up to your first post, and quickly too! Nice detective work.
As you have found, there is basically a Render/Replace operation going on in PrPro, to get the material in the correct form for AME.
Thank you for reporting, as it saved me, and others, from basically saying what you said.
Good luck, and sorry that you beat us to the punch.

  • Only Audio source CD PLAYER and not change to LINE IN

    Hi....
i have  msi 915G Combo mainboard  audio (cmi 9880l) and Tv Anywhere Master . i have problem with audio source for change to LINE IN
updated all drivers ( sound & tv anywhere ) please help about this...
    Thanks

    Hi all,
thanks for the replies. I'll try to explain better my scenario:
Pretend that a WM-Transfer Request was already created for a series of material linked to a certain Production Order --> 4 items in that case
I've got a Production Order BOM with 4 components. So the system creates a WM-TR with 4 different items:
    Material A123
    Material B321
    Material C143
    Material D312
Maybe no one will process this TR due to the fact that the Picking Date is far from today.
So the Warehouse Supervisor didn't convert it into a TO.
Maybe the day after, the Warehouse operator recognize that the stock of the material B321, is not correct. SAP is misaligned with the reality.
So, using MM-562 movement type and related TO, he set to 0 the quantities.
After this changes, the Warehouse Supervisor try to convert this TR into a TO using "TO IN BACKGROUND" button:
Material A123 - stock at system level
Material B321 - NO stock at system level
Material C143 - stock at system level
Material D312 - stock at system level
This error message appear and NO TO were created.
There's any way to modify this behavior?
Is possible (like VL06P) to set up a customizing or user exit that can skip only the item that are not pickable??
My expectation is to have a TO with only the 3 item that I can pick.
In our system we didn't accept negative quantity, as for Client requirement.
    Thanks a lot
    Marco

  • Get Sequence's Enabled Audio Sources From Player Plugin

Hi, I'm a video editor with some limited programming experience and I've been exploring the possibility of expanding on Premiere Pro's feature set. Nothing fancy or 3D just adding functionality. Specifically I'm looking to add the ability to playback a clip in the Source monitor and preview the audio sources selected on the current sequence. Meaning whichever audio sources are enabled in the sequence would playback along with the video in the source monitor. (Avid has this feature). I've not yet found anything in the documentation that suggests that the current sdk can allow this. I can't find any way to get "enabled or disabled" info from the sequence. In fact I haven't found anything on getting any settings or values from the sequence.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
I also would love to be able to add several other similar enhancements to Premiere Pro. I'm not much of a programmer. It will probably take me ages to do something an actual programmer would take just a few days to do, so I'm more than open to anyone willing to help. I do know Premiere Pro inside out from a user's point of view and would be willing to contribute to any effort in this particular direction.

Yeah... I feared as much. It's too bad really. I have in fact sent a feature request for this several times. (Ever since cs4 rolled along) I just figured it wasn't something adobe was interested in. Or just not really a priority. Which is why I was looking to build it myself.
Oh well... I guess I can try the feature request again.

  • What are the different types of analytic techniques possible in SAP HANA with the examples?

    Hello Gurus,

    Hi Sushma,
You can download the user guide here:

It has a list of the algorithms, which are pretty disappointing, I must say. No Random Forests? No ensembling methods? Given that it's using R algorithms, I must say this is a missed opportunity to beat products like SPSS and SAS at their own game. If SAP were to include this functionality, they would be the only BI vendor capable of having a serious predictive tool integrated with the rest of the platform.... but this looks pretty weak.
I can only hope a later release will remedy this - or maybe the SDK will allow me to create what I need.
As things stand, I could built a random forest using this tool, but I would have to use a lot of hardcoded SQL to make it happen. And if I wanted to go down that road, I could use the algorithms that come with the Microsoft/Oracle software.
    Please let me be wrong........

  • How do I record an audio source outside of Logic while in Logic?

Hi everyone, I have a question I would like to address to the forum.
How do I record an audio source outside of Logic while in Logic? For example, I would like to record the audio off a youtube video or dvd to be then used in Logic. I am using a Dididesign M-Box Mini for both my audio input and audio output i.e. all sound is coming in and out of the M-Box. I hope this is an easy question to answer (I am a new Mac user). Thanks in advance.
Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Use the 3.5mm audio out jack on the back of your computer. Connect it to your audio interface, and record like normal. You need an adapter cable. ( 3.5mm stereo to two 1/4 inch mono) see link.

My bluetooth seems to have stopped working in my car. Both phone and car audio says it is connected but nothing comes through car speaker.  I no longer have screen on iphone that says to choose audio source.  How do I get that screen back?

Thanks, this was the clue I needed to figure it out.
From Settings you can pull up Control Center.
In Control Center you can enable "Access from within Apps" (also "Access from Lockscreen")
Now when I'm playing music, I can swipe up from the bottom and a little control center window slides up. Neat - this is new since my old iPod. On this window, the name of the current Bluetooth connection appears. Tap on that, and a list of connected Bluetooth items appears. I just tap on the one I want to connect to and I am now playing through the speakers I want.

  • USB Audio source not getting to the speakers

I have a turntable audio source connected to my MacBook Pro with Mavericks OS. The device shows up on the Sound pane in System Preferences in the input screen as USB Audio CODEC and the input level bar graph moves when I try to play a record on it. The output screen is set to Internal Speakers, volume is turned up and the mute is off. In other words all the obvious stuff is done.
The problem is that there is no audio coming out of the speakers.
I have iTunes and can play audio files through the speakers just fine. I have a Bluetooth speaker and it also works just fine. The Bluetooth device also shows up in the output screen of the Sound pane of System Preferences.
Any ideas about why the sound from the USB device seems to play on the MBP but does not come out of the speakers or a set of headphones.
    Thanks,
    Ted

I found the solution in another discussion. The audio program Audacity did the trick.
One needs to have a client like this to process the USB input.
    Works great.
    Thanks for looking.

  • Music app does not have the function to change the audio source.

I use to change my audio source in my music app with the icon that looks like a triangle going into a rectangle i think it is call airplay, but it not there any more and what it is weir is that others app does have it so if i change my audio source in a video online it will change it in my music too..... Well i hope i could explain my self clear enough. Just put the airplay icon back in the music app. Thanks for your attention.
    Best regards

iTunes Radio is currently only available in the US - if you are in the US then try logging out and back into your account via Settings > iTunes & App Store, and if that doesn't fix it then try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Multiple audio sources for quicktime movie recording

I want to record a Quicktime movie using iSight as the video input, external audio (guitar) via a Focusrite Saffire LE (1874) audio interface and internal audio (a backing track) from either iTunes, Logic 9 or MainStage 2 (I don't care which), so I can record myself playing and then send the video to another guitarist via Dropbox or similar.  Is this possible and if so how do I set it up on my iMac?
    Thanks.

QuickTime Player Pro, QuickTime X (Snow Leopard) and QuickTime 10.1 (Lion) all include a "New Movie Recording" feature. The camera can be the internal iSight or an externaly connected one and the audio can be internal or line in.
But you can only have one video and one audio source.
QuickTime Player Pro can be used to add additional "tracks" and the .mov container can have up to 99 of them. GarageBand can help you edit the track timing. It also includes other "instuments" and can play your video while you build additional tracks.
I would record via iSight but not include any audio. Then use GarageBand to add the additional audio tracks.

  • Data in PSA content is different than the data source

    Dear Experts,
I am using Process chain to update info cube from data source of a z table.  In the process chain, the PSA request request step is having the PSA table number of the correct data source. The info package and the DTP also have the correct data source.
But after executing the process chain, the info cube is not updated with the required data source. It is updated with data from some other data source which is belonging to a different custom table.
I have checked the Extraction of the data source in RSA3. This is extracting from correct data source. But when I check PSA contents through process monitor in process chain log for DTP, I found the  PSA content data is different from the data source.
I am totally confused, how this is possible. Can anybody advise me to troubleshoot and fix this issue.
    Thanks and regards
    Murugesan

    Dear Igor,
The PSA request is being deleted in a previous step prior to loading the info package.  I can see every time when I run the process  chain, the old request number is deleted and a new request number is created.
Still the same issue is persisting.
I also observed one more thing that the second time when we repeat the same process chain, the correct data source data is loaded in the info cube and PSA table. Only during the first time, the PSA table and Info cube  it is not updating with the right data.
    thanks and regards

  • Parenting textframes over different lay-outs

It would save a lot of time as well as comfort and ease of mind if it was possible to link textframes over different lay-outs.
Now I have to edit text in all lay-outs (computer, tablet, phone). It should be possible to link frames so you only have to edit text in one lay-out. When uploading or editing lay-out in different lay-outs muse could ask if text should be adapted to the parent lay-out and if you want to check what changed. A bit like if you do online editing and open the site in muse.
When making alternative lay-outs in Indesign this feature is allready present.

Hi these are my hub stats...The downstream speed is vastly up since I called 151...hmmm!  I called 151 as you recommended and told the girl (Sarah) exactly what I've told you here and that you'd recommended the course of action. She is sending an engineer out tomorrow a.m. as she told me to unplug everything but the corded phone and redo the test...I got a series of faint clicks on the line 3 groups of 3 followed by one single click then it went silent....told her this and she said it sounds as though there is still something going on even though she got nothing (she called me back twice btw after doing something her end) This is as much for assisting my memory as anything else btw as she said that there could be a callout charge of £130 if nothing found wrong with BT gear....praying hard right now!!
Anyhows....loss of framing seems to be when I'm getting these problems...nothing in loss of framing....no problem...anything at all in loss of framing ...I get problems.  I still cannot get a speedtest done, been getting this error message since I started trying to figure this out last night!
