    Hi
Ord Dep Start is determined by the Period Control in your dep key...However, if you want to overwrite it manualy, ignore the Warning message

  • Dep start date need to be changed it is grayed out ,went to screen layout.

    Hi
I wanted to change the dep start date in asset master data, but in DEp area tab the dep start date is grayed out.
I went to screen layout of asset master dep area..but where is the setting to change it to change mode.It has only the Req opt etc field.

    Hi
First you see the screen layout assigned to the asset. use AS02 goto Environment -Screen Layout-Select Master Data. See what screen layout is using.Go to the screen layout and check whether this filed is optional or supprsed, if it is supprsed than make it optional.

  • Setting the Asset Value date as the dep start date

    Hi,
I need to pick depreciation from the asset value date and NOT the dep start date in the asset master record. Is this possible? IF it is, then what config changes needs to be done.
    Thanks

    Hi
You can define that in the multi level method assigned to your depreciation key.
Assign points if the information is  useful to you

  • Mass updation of Dep start date in Asset

    Hi All,
Please note that I have created a new depreciation area for client for tax reporting purpose(areas do not post). The client wants to update the depreciation start date in all the assets with this new dep area. This can be done through customizing settings( transfer of dep terms) but then the useful life will also be identical to reference area(01) which client wants to change as per requirement and should not be same as reference area.
The other options are LSMW & BDC upload where i can do a mass upload for depreciation start date for all the assets. However I have not used this feature.
I would really appreciate if someone can help me with the steps.
    Regards
    Pranay

    Hi,
To do the mass changes to the assets create a substitution in Asset Accounting in GGB1.
Asset Accounting - AM Master data mass change.
Create a step under the substitution with the required changes(take Deparea and Asset Classes in Prerequisite)
You would require multiple substitutions. Precisely one substitution for all the asset classes with the same set of Deprecation start date and Useful life.
In OA02 create new entry for the compny code.
In AR01select the assets for which the mass change needs to be done.
select the Create work list icon on appln tool bar. Name the work list. select Change asset w/o dialog (bulk change). Give the substition name that is created.
In AR31 give the worklist details
Select the Release Work List icon on the appln tool Bar.
the changes will be effective for the existing selected assets.
Try first in IDES before you do the actual changes. This will work.
    Thanks,
    Raja.

  • System does not reset asset retirement date for Depreciation Area specific transaction after area has been deleted

    Good day,
I needed to create a new depreciation area in a live system. The depreciation area would not post to the GL, but would be used for tax purposes in a currency other than the local currency. When creating this area the asset values were translated at the system exchange rate which did not agree with the values of the manually maintained tax register. I proceeded by creating new transaction types that would only post to the new area, one of which was an asset disposal transaction, which would be used for downward adjustment of the APC value. I made my adjustments at the end of the previous financial year, but had to start over and proceeded to delete the depreciation area to allow me to start over.
After reinstating the depreciation area, my original adjustments were removed, however the assets which APC values needed to be adjusted downward using the disposal transaction, was giving me the AA 478 Posting transaction is not possible (value date not allowed) error.
I've reviewed the asset postings and there is no record of my original adjustment documents. The problem seems to be that field ANLA-ABGDT (Last Retirement Date), is still indicating the date of my previous adjustments and that this was not updated when the Depreciation Area was deleted and reinstated.
Again, I do not have any documents which I can access or reverse to update this table. Is there any way to clear this field without reversing the disposal document?
I'm also looking at implementing SAP note 1618286, to make error message AA478 a warning. I could not implement SAP note 533378 since it only supports component version 46c and we are currently running component verson 605.
I would appreciate your consideration of my problem.
    Regards
    Marius

If you are in Test System, you can use function module AA_AFABER_DELETE to totally delete the depreciation area (tcode SE37, specify chart of depreciation and depreciation area), After that recreate your depreciation area and run AFBN. But before you do that, have you created a retirement transaction type that limits the posting on your new depreciation area? If not create one.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks!

  • Different Asset value dates for different depreciation areas

    Hi All
I have a requirement for different capitalization dates in different depreciation areas for some LATAM countries .How can this be achieved?

    Hi
Hope you can achive this requirement by entering Depreciation calculation start date in depreciation area tab of asset master against each depreciation area
    Depreciation calculation start date
'As a general rule, the system determines the depreciation start date from the asset value date of the first acquisition posting. However, you can also manually enter a calendar date in the asset master record for the start of depreciation. In that case, the system ignores the asset value date of the acquisition posting.'

  • Issue with Ord Start Date

    Hi,
I am having issue with Ord Start Date.
When i create XYZ Asset now when i do the acquasation for that new asset. Example: Using FB01 i enter todays date and i do the posting.
Now when i go to DEP Area TAB for the DEP Key (M200) - The Ord Dep Start Date is 15 Dec 2010.
For this DEP Key Period Control Methods (T code - AFAMP) - Acquisation Entered is ( 6 that is - at the start of year) and the Period Control is ( T code - OAVS) (4 that is - First year convention at half year start date).
Our client is using the fiscal year as 1 June 2010 to 31 May 2011.
So when i do acquistion for the asset as per the period contol the Ord Dep Start Date should be 1 Dec 2010, but here it is talking 15 Dec 2010.
Why is system talking 15 days more.
    Regards.

    Hi
Which Fiscal year variant are you using??
Did you maintain it in OAVH? Copy the existing entry in OAVH for K4 to your Fisc Yr var and try again
And also, 04 does not figure for Acquisitions in AFAMP under 0004.... Whatever you specify in OAVH must also be a part of AFAMP

  • Change in start date of tax depreciation not for posting in mid of year

    Hi Experts,
Tax depreciation area is not for posting. The fiscal year is from Jan to Dec. I want to calculate tax depreciation from May 2011 based on Net Book Value of tax depreciation as on 30.04.2011. But once I change the start date of tax depreciation in asset master to 01.05.2011, the system ignores the previous depreciation so I am not getting the NBV of tax depreciation of 30.04.2011.
Is any setting is required to get this. I can not do changes in posting rules since this tax depreciation is not for posting any thing.
The fiscal year 2010 is closed and NBV of tax depreciation as on 31.12.2010 of one asset is 80000, If I change the start date of tax depreciation from 1.1.2011 then system correcly take NBV of 31.12.2010 for further depreciation calculation. But if i change the start date of depreciation in between of year the system is calculating depreciation based on NBV of 31.12.2010 but ignores the tax depreciation from 1.1.2011 to 30.04.2011, which I previously run using AFAB.
Need your assistance to know is it feasible to do this.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Harshad

    Hi Harshad
The behaviour of the system is very much correct, it is designed to behave that way...
One, you should not have changed the dep start date....
two, NBV in SAP is always taken to be NBV @ the start of the year....
The best wayout I can suggest here is, if you are on EhP4 and EA-FIN active
    a. Change the Dep Key in the asset... You can maintain Time Dependant Dep Terms in asset master i.e. Dep Key X from Jan-Apr and Dep Key Y from MAy onwards
    b. This will however, calculate dep based on NBV at the start of the year, but based on new useful life
    c. Considering your eg: The system is posting more depreciation i.e. 5333 instead of 5155.... So, calculate this amount outside the system and post a Manual Write up ABZU inorder to reduce the Dep and increase the NBV
Even if you are on not on EhP4, you can follow the same approach as above.... i.e.
    a. Change the Dep Key in asset master.... This will throw up new dep figure, on the basis of New Useful life and NBV at the start of the year
    b. Post a write up from ABZU....
No need to do Asset to asset transfer in my opinion
Only diff between EhP4 and Non EhP4 is that the differential depreciation would be lesser if you are on EhP4... i.e. instead of 5333 now, system may throw up depreciation amount of 5666.. So, you may need to post write up of 5666-5155

  • Issue on Ordinary Depreciation Start Date and Disposal of Asset

    Hi All.
I am facing the following the issues.
Fiscal Year is from July - June
First Problem: Company acquired the asset Vehicle on 26.Dec.2008. System proposes Ordinary Depreciation Start Date as 01.Jan.2009 rather then proposing Ordinary Depreciation Start Date as 01.Dec.2008.
Since depreciation for previous year has been posted the client later found out that instead of calculating depreciation for 7 months depreciation was only calculated for 6 months. I tried to manually change the dep. start date but the system doesnot update the previous years values, it's still calculating depreciation for 6 months and not 7 months. Is there anyway in updating the previous fiscal years depreciation values.
2nd Problem: I created a test case scenario today i.e. 16.09.2009 by creating and capitalizing an asset vehicle. Once I capitalized the asset the system automatically proposed the start date as 01.10.2009 and not 01.09.2009 which is what i require. What setting do i need to check or maintain in order to solve this issue because the user does not want to manually change the date each time an asset is created.
3rd Problem: Similar to this now when client disposes of an asset suppose on 10.Feb.2009 (FY2009). The system calculates depreciation till the month in which disposal takes place (February), the client does not want this, their requirement is that depreciation should be calculated one month before disposal takes place i.e. in this case Dep should be calculated till Month of January.
Your assistance will be highly appreciated.
    Mohammed Ali Khan.

    Hello Khan,
The depreciation start date will get determined based on the period control method assigned to depreciation key,
Period control methods are defined in transaction code : OAVH
In period control method we will mention the depreciation start date for acquisition, additions and also depreciation end date for disposals, retirements.
SAP has given some default period control keys. If any of these are not suitable to your requirement you can create on your own period control methods.
    THanks

  • Use of Different Fiscal Year Variant-Statistical Depreciation Area Postings

An existing Company Code in SAP is going to have Fixed Assets implemented.  This Company Code is setup just like the others in our SAP instance: Same Chart of Accounts, Same Fiscal Year Variant, Fixed Asset procedures, etc.  For purposes of this question our company's Fiscal Year is from August 1st to July 31st.  In addition, this Company Code will post Fixed Assets just like the other SAP enabled Company Codes into Book Depreciation Area 01.  The company I work with is on ECC 6 but we use the Classic Ledger for Financials, and the Special Ledger is posted to but not really utilized.
For the Country Specific/Tax Reporting purposes within Fixed Asset Accounting we have created a Statistical Depreciation Area 03 (I will call it Tax) with its own Life and Depreciation Key assignments with a setting of 0 in OADB-No Posting in GL for this Fixed Asset go-live, so I think we are set there.  The tricky part comes in the reporting.  The country in question requires information to be generated on a Calendar Year basis, which is obviously different than the Fiscal Year outlined above.  To my knowledge we would have to assign Tax Depreciation Area 03 to the Calendar Fiscal Year Variant: Financial Accounting>>Asset Accounting>>Valuation>>Fiscal Year>>Fiscal Year Variants>>Specify Other Versions on Depreciation Area Level.
The other piece of this is to get the Fixed Asset Reporting for Tax Depreciation Area 03 to work on a Calendar Year basis for the Company Code in question.  When I did some research I stumbled upon the link below.  In summary it says that you have to manipulate the standard Fixed Assets reports in Excel for Asset Acquisitions and Depreciation, and setup a new Retirement routine/transaction for posting into the Special Depreciation Area.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/05/bc0bf3d8f811d1953e0000e82debf7/content.htm
    My questions are:
    1) Besides assigning a different Fiscal Year Variant for Tax Depreciation Area 03, is there anything else I need to worry about on the setup end?
    2) Is the article I posted accurate when it comes to how the reporting works and the need for setting up a Calendar Year specific Asset Retirement Routine?  If so, what are the configuration steps for setting up a Calendar Year specific Asset Retirement Routine?
    3) Is there anything else that I need to consider for enabling Fixed Assets at an existing Company Code with different Reporting requirements for Book/Tax purposes?
Thanks in advance for all responses.  I am willing to answer any other questions on this subject if needed.
    Roman

Hello Rio.  In our scenario, we still had to load assets in the legal entity with this issue.  When we loaded the fixed asset data into SAP we did with data accurate as of December 31, 2011; which for book purposes is 5 months into our company's fiscal year, and for tax purposes is the end of the 2011 calendar year.  The calendarized reporting for the tax depreciation will need to be pieced together manually using the SAP recommended methodology of combining report values, which I have pasted below.
Since this is the only SAP-enabled entity that has this scenario right now we are in wait and see mode to see if this sufficient.  In the end the SAP path for Dual Calendar was too much of a risk.
    I hope this helps.

  • Depreciation areas in ANLP

    Hi All,
In the table, ANLP, I can not see some specified depreciation areas and their values even though I see the data for all specified depreciation areas in AS03.
For example, 40 and 60 depreciation areas are specified in OABN. However, in table ANLP, I just obtain results for depreciation area 60 and I can not see the depreciation area 40. For this problem, how can I get the data for depreciation area 40 and depreciation area itself in ANLP?
In general, how can I see all specified depreciation areas and see data for those depreciation areas in ANLP?
    Points will be rewarded!!
    Cheers!

    Thank you Nathan!
I have changed the posting status for depreciation area 40 but I still can not see it in ANLP. At that point even though some depreciation areas has posting status 0 (means no posting), they have data in ANLP. For example, depreciation area 25 and 40 have posting status 0 but I can see data for depreciation area 25 in ANLP but I cannot see for 40. How can I obtain data for depreciation area 40 in ANLP? What else can I do to obtain?
