Different page formats in the same document

Is it at all possible to create an InDesign-document with different page formats? Example: Page 1: 210x297 mm, page 2: 190x297 mm.

  • How can I use two different page orientations in the same document?

    I am trying to have both portrait and landscape page orientations in the same document.  Pages doesn't seem to like this.  Is there a way?

    I tried to comment on another thread about this same issue, but the thread was closed.
    In the other thread; however, some asked why rotating one pages was necessary, and if they knew then maybe there would be reason to create the function.
    Well, I don't know about why anyone else needs it, but for me it's for the papers I have to write for my masters program. The professors like to have the rubric attached to the bottome of the document so they easily grade and keep things organized. They of course give directions on how to easily change the orientation of the last page in Word, but not all of use Word, or even want to use Word. Maybe I need to ditch Pages and go to Word? I'd really hate to do that!
    So, come on Apple, let's get this feature added, stat!

  • It´s possible to make different page sizes in the same document?

    hi there familiy,
    I´m just learning InDesign (wich it´s fantastic) on line, and i ´d like to know how is possible to change 1 or few pages inside one document o make a flap (for example)? . But I want them to continue facing, to control de design. I know i could do it in different documents, and then mounted in pdf o whatever, but i supossed it´s possible...
    Any help?, thanks in advance, sorry for my english, i´m learnig also!,
    cheers,
    nando

    If the goal is to make a flap, then you can do this in InDesign. A spread can be any contiguous number of pages, so if your document is generally speaking double-page spreads, you can have a single spread that is composed of three contiguous pages.
    To do this, in the Pages palette, select a double-page spread you want to expand. Go to the flyout menu and deselect "Allow selected spread to shuffle." Then drag new page to the left of the left page or to the right of the right page (depending on where your flap is).
    Then you're all set.
    Here's a screenshot of the Pages panel:
    In this case, I've created a flap to the right of page 3 (numbered page a) and its reverse to the left of page 4 (numbered page b).

  • Different Page Sizes within the same document - Printing

    I am having trouble printing a document which contains pages of different sizes (using Adobe Professional 7.0):
    i.e. The first 10 pages are 8.5" x 11", the next few pages are 11" x 17" and the last few pages are 8.5" x 11"
    The printer only spits everything out as 8.5" x 11" and the larger sheets are just cut off.
    In the "Print" menu that comes up when you hit FILE->PRINT it suggests that everything is alright... I can scroll through the small "page preview" and it shows some pages 8.5x11 and some pages 11x17... but when it actually prints, it doesn't do that. Is it the printer that is the problem perhaps?
    (The printer is a Lexmark x945e)
    Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

  • How do you apply 2 different types of page numbers in the same document?

    How do one apply 2 different types of page numbers in the same document??? I do not want a number on the first page!

    Click in the second section text:
    Inspector > Layout > Section > Configuration > uncheck Use previous headers and footers
    Then go back and simply delete what's in the header/footer of the first section.

  • Problem with SQL*Loader and different date formats in the same file

    DB: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
    System: AIX 5.3.0.0
    Hello,
    I'm using SQL*Loader to import semi-colon separated values into a table. The files are delivered to us by a data provider who concatenates data from different sources and this results in us having different date formats within the same file. For example:
    ...;2010-12-31;22/11/1932;...
    I load this data using the following lines in the control file:
    EXECUTIONDATE1     TIMESTAMP     NULLIF EXECUTIONDATE1=BLANKS     "TO_DATE(:EXECUTIONDATE1, 'YYYY-MM-DD')",
    DELDOB          TIMESTAMP     NULLIF DELDOB=BLANKS          "TO_DATE(:DELDOB, 'DD/MM/YYYY')",
    The relevant NLS parameters:
    NLS_LANGUAGE=FRENCH
    NLS_DATE_FORMAT=DD/MM/RR
    NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE=FRENCH
    If I load this file as is the values loaded into the table are 31 dec 2010 and 22 nov *2032*, aven though the years are on 4 digits. If I change the NLS_DATE_FORMAT to DD/MM/YYYY then the second date value will be loaded correctly, but the first value will be loaded as 31 dec *2020* !!
    How can I get both date values to load correctly?
    Thanks!
    Sylvain

    This is very strange, after running a few tests I realized that if the year is 19XX then it will get loaded as 2019, and if it is 20XX then it will be 2020. I'm guessing it may have something to do with certain env variables that aren't set up properly because I'm fairly sure my SQL*Loader control file is correct... I'll run more tests :-(

  • Different Page sizes in the same Framemaker Document

    Is there any way in Framemaker to create different page sizes ( say A4 & A3) simultaneously, either as body pages or master pages, in a long, multi-page document ? The long pages (A3 size) will be folded and tucked inside to fit the width of the A4 size page. Is there something obvious that I am missing ?
    -appu g

    Ian,
    Whether the printer adjusts to different page sizes automatically is a function of the printer, not Frame. A number of printers that have feeds for different size sheets will automatically adjust for you, provided you select "automatic" for your page size preference.
    If the PDF is for print, then I wouldn't worry about it either -- set the file up to print with crop marks and print it on your larger sheet size.
    If the PDF is for online customer viewing, I'd probably do the same thing but without crop marks and either:
    * Use Acrobat to crop the small pages out of the larger page size. Although you can add different size pages here and there as required, that's more fiddly and time consuming than cropping sets of pages in batch mode.
    or
    * let the reader use their copy of Acrobat Reader to set the magnification setting -- the default setting is "automatic."

  • Different style of page numbering in the same document

    I've searched but can't find a mention of this problem.
    My document has three introductory pages which I want to number as i, ii, iii, and then start the actual story as 1, 2, 3 but every time I try to do this it changes it for the whole document even though it's set up with different sections.
    Thanks for any help.

  • I cant text flow using 3 different text files on the same document?????

    Im starting out with 3 different files of text saved as "tab delimited text" from excel, I open a document in ID with 107 pages and create 3 boxes in the master on top of a pdf. I then override all 107 pages so that the text I insert will flow to the next page and so on, once I paste the 2nd text file into the next text frame it skips the original 107 files and starts flowing into new pages. Im ready to pull my hair out, I have been trying to figure this out for 2 hours. I dont know what to do at this point. I think Im getting a migraine.
    I would have done a data merge on 2 of the files but the third HAS to be text flow (which gives me the same problem above) because it has to be physically changed to fit each page.

    Are you Placing the text from an external file, or pasting it from the clipboard?
    If Placing, move the loaded cursor inside one of the master frames on the first page, hold down the Shift key and click, being sure the cursor is not on any sort of guide. The entire text file will flow using the master text frames, and ID will add all the require pages to place all the text.
    If pasting, you can either override the frame on the first page only, or make a temporary first frame on the pasteboard. Paste into this frame, which will result in a red plus sign in the bottom right corner of the text frame indicating overset text. Switch to the Selection tool (black arrow) and click on the plus sign to pick up the overset text. Hover the new loaded cursor over the frame on the second page, or over the first page as above if you used a temporary frame, hodl the Shift key and click. Delete the temporary frame, if you used one, and the text will reflow to start in the first real frame, but you may have to pick up overset again in the last frame due to the reflow.

  • Different Date Formats in the same "From"

    Hello
    We used different date formats depending on the users language.
    In a report this is simple to implement ... read the date field twice (in different formats dd/mm/yyyy and mm/dd/yyyy) and display only one based on the language.
    I want to be able to do the same in a "form" which updates a date. In this case the about is not allowed.
    Has anyone have solution for this using "APEX" forms or do a need to write a process to achieve this?
    Thanks
    Pete

    Pete,
    You don't specify what version of Application Express you're using, so I'll assume APEX 3.1 or later.
    Are you setting the date format yourself, based upon the user's language?
    1) You could have the application's language derived from Browser, and then APEX would automatically set the NLS_LANGUAGE and NLS_TERRITORY settings accordingly. Then, I would simply use 'DS' as the Application Date Format. For Date Pickers on a form, I would use item type 'Date Picker (use Application Date Format)'.
    2) If you're already determining the date format yourself and you don't want APEX to do it for you, ensure that you are setting this value in an application item (e.g., PETE_DATE_FORMAT). Then, you could still use Application Date Format with a value of &PETE_DATE_FORMAT. (inclusive of the trailing period).
    When you use Application Date Format, the conversion should happen automatically for you so that you don't have to code this yourself on the Form.
    I hope this helps.

  • URGENT: XML-SQL: Error parsing different date formats in the same XML file.

    Hi Everyone,
    I have a big problem while using the XML-SQL utility. I have a XML file with different date formats. I get exception like the one below.
    "oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: 'java.text.ParseException: Unparseable date:"
    And the XML file is :
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
    <Info Key="ID">
         <Insert>
              <ID>1</ID>
              <BookingDate>10.12.2001</BookingDate>
              <OpeningTime>19:16</OpeningTime>
         </Insert>
    </Info>
    I have tried using different setDateFormat which is contrary.
    sav.setDateFormat("d.M.y");
    sav.setDateFormat("H:m:s");
    Can someone help me on the same.
    Thanks in advance.
    Subramanian.

    You might have to describe the columns as varchar then modify the table to the right format.

  • Use 2 page layouts in the same document?

    I would like to have one page of my current document in portrait layout, while the rest is in Landscape. I've added a page break, but can't get the single page I want, to turn vertical, without turning all the others. Is there a way to do this?

    PeterBreis is right. Do like this (tested several times when need was):
    1. Create the whole document, and let that special page blank
    2. Based on the same template, create that unique page according to your wish
    Now, if you need a printed stuff, insert the specific page when need be. If you need a PDF, export the PDFs (there are 2), import the large file into a good, realiable and free app like Combine PDFs or iCombiner (do not know which one is best, both seem to work fine), delete the blank page in the big file, insert the isolated page in the same place, re-save with a new name, and you are done.
    It is not, I admit, very smooth and clean, but it works fine. Named apps may be beautifully used to cut, merge, combine any PDFs, including by combining various sizes and orientations. As long as Pages (and other similar apps) does/do not have this feature, use the additional 3rd party apps, they work fine.

  • Two different page numbers on the same page

    Hi guys, I have this problem, in my documents I have a main numbering like this <$chapnum>-<$curpagenum> and a second composing a lot of file-cards, in this file there's a double numbering, the main flow global numbering, and the local numbering <$cupagenum>/<$lastpagenum>.
    I don't know how differentiate this numbering, I would like in the same pages something like : 1-329, 1-330, 1-331 and 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4.
    thank you!

    Ok thank you, I try. I have a techincal manual of 400 pages,
    at the end I have a Appendix with 100 technical file-cards,
    so the numbering is: from page 1 to 400 for the entire manual,
    from 300 to 400 for the file-cards.
    Every file-card is composed by about 10 pages
    and have its own numbering, each page is numbered
    like (1 of 10, 2 of 10 , CurrentPageOfThisCard of TotalPageOfThisCard)
    and this numbering is in a little text frame on the page.
    The first file-card is inserted after the page 299,
    the second file-card start at page 310, the third at 320, etc..
    So, for example, looking the second file-card, the first page of the card
    Is at page 310 of the manual, the second page at 311 and so on.
    The relation is only the position of the file-card in the manual.
    I need to autonumber these two levels of pages.

  • Different HD formats on the same timeline

    Hi
    I am currently editing a 6 camera HD project in FC Studio 2, I have footage that is 5D 1920x1080i H264, other footage is 1920x1080p prores, and then I have some footage that is 1920x1080i and the compression is 1440x1080 frame rates are 30frms some are 15frms.
    My question: is there any way to edit the timeline with out needs only render. I have to synch clips by sound du to the fact that I have no matching TC so option p really wouldn't work. example some 10sec clips need 20 minutes to render, was just wondering if there was anyway to disable needs render until I finish the edit.
    I hope that I explained this easily enough, I have a feeling that I'm just going to have to suffer through it.
    Best,
    S

    You should probably convert all your media to a single format, like ProRes422,
    with all the same frame rate. Create a new FCP project with the converted media
    nicely imported and well-named.
    Then use Media Manager to make lower-resolution proxies for editing
    (FCP Manual IV-114). Start your mulitclip editing process by getting your
    sync perfect. Take some extra time to verify that you've got it figured out.
    As you edit using a multiclip, don't render the timeline. That disables
    the multiclip editing function. If you need to render to check out your
    work in detail, be sure to trash the render file before continuing to edit.
    When you're done with the edit, use Media Manger to reconnect your
    clips to the full-resolution version.
