Different page size between Chrome and Safari

Hi,
as you can see in the following images, Google Chrome shows web pages bigger than Safari (5.1.1) and there is more white space in Safari page margins.
is there any way to change Safari settings to show web pages bigger so I don't have to zoom every time I want to read a page?
thanks for your answers

Your first screenshot isn't showing, but you can set a minimum font size: Safari > Preferences > Advanced > Never use font sizes smaller than...

  • Different font sizes in Explorer and Safari

    Hi there, before I go completely nuts can someone give me a
    hand with figuring out how I can get my plain old body text to
    display at the same size in both Explorer and Safari.
    I am using a Mac myself, but when entering text at size 1, it
    is displaying larger in Explorer (at about the size I want) and
    very small in Safari (too small to be easily readable). I have done
    some research and thought cascading style sheets might be the way
    to go but I have also read that the some text problems occur when
    using cascading style sheets.
    I haven't bothered with them previously as there hasn't been
    that much text to bother with them.
    Has anyone got any tips, or has used CSS to fix this problem?
    Regards,
    Elle V
    p.s. if you are using a mac, you can check out what I mean by
    viewing www.homestylefinance.com.au/company.html in both browsers.
    I would be interested in hearing from a PC user to see if they are
    seeing the same thing.

    You can define your text sizes in many different ways:
    points, pixels, em,
    percentages, etc.
    I personally use a percentage to define my base font-size in
    my style sheet,
    and then declare different text sizes in em's for different
    selectors. I'd
    stay away from points (which it sounds like you're using them
    - due to the
    fact that cross-browser display varies). I'd also stay away
    from pixels,
    because IE users can not resize their browser text size.
    My personal suggestion would be to use em's to declare your
    font sizes. Here
    is an example of something you could put in your CSS document
    (which you'll
    want to start using):
    body { font-size: 100%; }
    .text1 { font-size: .75em }
    HTH, take care.

  • Anybody care to explain the pros and cons between chrome and safari?

    Interested in knowing whether I need to put forth the effort to learn Chrome or just stay with Safari.

    When I say taking it to the store I guess I need to share the entire story.  When I bought this new system I transferred everything from my old computer to the new one but now I cannot bring up Adobe.  Whenever something requires Adobe or Acrobat it says I must read and sign the user agreement.  I contacted Apple Care and we worked the issed for quite some time and then as a last resort he said to download Chrome and we did and the Adobe came right up using this Chrome.  Now whenever I'm working on something Chrome is trying to take over.  Wile I don't do a lot of work in Adobe if I delete Chrome I won't be able to do any.  That is why I am saying I guess I need to go to the store.  Maybe they can correst my problem with the Adobe and get rid of Chrome.  Like everbody seems to indicate it is best to be an Apple purest.

  • Can I print to different paper sizes with AirPrint and Safari?

    I am the organizer of a trade show coming up.
    We are using a web based registration system for attendees.
    To print the attendee badges, we simply log in to the site through the net, and print them.  I have an HP CP1525nw loaded with 3x5 index cards that will slide into the badge holders.
    When printing from the Mac, I simply go to Page Setup, set the paper size and orientation and print.   It works great.
    However, we would love to use iPads for our registration staff.  Not only are they less expensive, but they are portable, and totally wireless.   We can access the site just fine, and the badges show great on the screen.   The website generates the badges as a .pdf file and they load into the browser.
    When printing from the iPad, the badges print HUGE, filling an entire 8.5x11 size page.   With the 3x5 card stock loaded in the paper tray, they still print huge, only showing the portion of the badge on the 3x5 card in the location it would be had there been letter size paper in the tray.
    Any ideas?
    I've considered formatting another badge for letter size, and having it print only where the 3x5 card would fall... but that is a huge tweak that I think should be unnecessary.
    How do I print to different size paper from my iPad?
    Thanks for the help in advance.
    --Brian

    Thanks for the info.
    It will let me send the PDF to eprint....  and there are paper size choices.
    However, they only offer Letter, Legal and A4.
    My printer DOES support 3x5 index cards.  But, the option is not listed.
    Any other ideas?

  • Different file size between Photoshop, and finder/explorer?

    I posted this discussion last week  http://forums.adobe.com/message/5820325#5820325   and have now determined that some part (still don't understand how/why)  of my scanning/saving workflow- is creating a new layer "Layer 0" to replace the locked Background layer. This is causing the image to double, or triple in size. However, upon opening the image in Photoshop, the size of the image doesn't match the size viewed in finder, or Bridge....Does anyone know why?
    23mb in Photoshop.
    44.81mb in Bridge.
    44.81mb in Finder
    EDIT: There is only one later in this image. No image edits, except for cropping. You can see in the last image, how using an identical workflow, some images are saving correctly (20ish mb) and some are double.

    Assuming you are deleting the spurious Layer 0, have you also then flattened the image before saving to see if that makes a difference?

    I can't get rid of the annoying and time wasting pop ups and ad pages that jump in front of the page I click on. I have blocked popups in Chrome and Safari as well as system preferences

    You most likely installed adware along with something else you recently installed.
    You can either follow Apple's manual instructions for removing it, or the free automated tool, AdwareMedic.

  • Isdefined not working on chrome and safari

    Hello all,
    I have a simple coldfusion form which consisits of 2 pages
    The first page contains a form with a button inside:
    <cfform name="inputform" method="post" action="savetrap.cfm">
         <input type="submit" name="newrec" id="newrec" title="Start a new application" value="Start a new application" />
    </cfform>
    The second page, checks to see if the user clicked the button:
    <cfif (isDefined("form.newrec") AND form.newrec eq "Start a new application")>
          I have been clicked!
    </cfif>
    Now this seems to work on my internet explorer, OPera and Mozilla browsers but fails to work on Chrome and Safari.  Can anybody help me in fixing this issue ?
    Many Thanks,
    G

    You don't say what's actually happening different between what you consider to be "working" and what you consider to be "not working".  So it's difficult to say too mucht hat's sensible about this.
    One sensible thing to say si that CF code runs on the CF server, and has no interaction with the browser at all, so IE, Opera, Chrome etc have no idea about CF.  So whatever is going wrong, it's not what you think it is.
    Give an adequate amount of detail, then we might be able to help you.

  • Creation of PDF with different page sizes

    I am generating PDF using Acrobat Distiller from my application from the .ps file. From one machine, the PDF is generated with different page sizes.one page with 8.5*12.99 and other pages with 8.5*11 in the same PDF. However the PDF is created with correct page sizes for all the pages in another machine. The only difference between the machines is the Internet Explorer version. I am using Internet explorere 11.0 and the other machine have a version of 8.0 installed.
    Why the difference in page size occured? Is there any dependency on the Internet explorer used while creating the PDF using Distiller? Any help for the issue with the discrepancy in the page sizes is really appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Acrobat Distiller uses the page size in the PS file. May be a problem of your application which create the PS file.

  • Edge Animate code output image location (X,Y) changes in Chrome and Safari

    Hi there,
    I'm working on my first project in Adobe Edge Animate, and so far it has been a miserable failure! Yay! Anyone out there interested in helping me out?
    Here is a sample of the project so far:  http://research.cs.queensu.ca/home/parker
    My problem is that the green square's location appears incorrectly in Chrome and Safari browsers, but correctly in Firefox. I'm using a Mac Mountain Lion OS.
    Why would an element have a different position when seen in a different browser? Note that all the other elements are displaying properly in all the browsers?
    Thanks for your help,
    -David

  • Webhelp RH6 in Chrome and Safari 4

    I am currently working on a webhelp system in RH 6 that needs to work in different browsers, and also chrome and safari 4. I have already looked for answers on the web but could not find anything that actually helped me out.
    so:
    *is it possible to let the webhelp of RH6 be viewed in chrome/safari 4? How?
    *or is it necessary to upgrade to RH8? Can I then be sure my problem will be solved?

    RH supports IE, Firefox and Safari, not Opera or Chrome. That does not necessarily mean the help will not work in Opera or Chrome, just that TechSupport will not assist you if it does not.
    An output from RH8 is going to have fewer issues but no one can guarantee your work will display correctly, even if you use the supported browsers. You could import something with "errors" that may look OK in the Design Editor but do not work in a browser.
    I am not sure what you are getting at when you ask how the help can be displayed. In IE and FF you can use File > Open and browse to the start page. Maybe you mean open them from an application? That's for your developers but see Calling WebHelp on my site.

    There is no need to download anything to solve this problem. You may have installed a variant of the "VSearch" ad-injection malware. Follow Apple Support's instructions to remove it.
    If you have trouble following those instructions, see below.
    Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. This procedure works as of now, as far as I know. It may not work in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for a more recent discussion, or start a new one.
    The VSearch malware tries to hide itself by varying the names of the files it installs. To remove it, you must first identify the naming pattern.
    Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
    from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    A folder named "LaunchDaemons" may open. Look inside it for two files with names of the form
              com.something.daemon.plist
    and
               com.something.helper.plist
    Here something is a variable string of characters, which can be different in each case. So far it has always been a string of letters without punctuation, such as "cloud," "dot," "highway," "submarine," or "trusteddownloads." Sometimes it's a meaningless string such as "e8dec5ae7fc75c28" rather than a word. Sometimes the string is "apple," and then you must be especially careful not to delete the wrong files, because many built-in OS X files have similar names.
    If you find these files, leave the LaunchDaemons folder open, and open the following folder in the same way:
    /Library/LaunchAgents
    In this folder, there may be a file named
              com.something.agent.plist
    where the string something is the same as before.
    If you feel confident that you've identified the above files, back up all data, then drag just those three files—nothing else—to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Close the Finder windows and restart the computer.
    Don't delete the "LaunchAgents" or "LaunchDaemons" folder or anything else inside either one.
    The malware is now permanently inactivated, as long as you never reinstall it. You can stop here if you like, or you can remove two remaining components for the sake of completeness.
    Open this folder:
    /Library/Application Support
    If it has a subfolder named just
               something
    where something is the same string you saw before, drag that subfolder to the Trash and close the window.
    Don't delete the "Application Support" folder or anything else inside it.
    Finally, in this folder:
    /System/Library/Frameworks
    there may an item named exactly
                v.framework
    It's actually a folder, though it has a different icon than usual. This item always has the above name; it doesn't vary. Drag it to the Trash and close the window.
    Don't delete the "Frameworks" folder or anything else inside it.
    If you didn't find the files or you're not sure about the identification, post what you found.
    If in doubt, or if you have no backups, change nothing at all.
    The trouble may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
    This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
    In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
    Then, still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
              Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
              Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • Why are my movies upside down and backwards? Mobile Me shows them right, Chrome and Safari shows them right, it is only Firefox that does this.

    This is new to Firefox 4+ I believe because it never happened before. I am on a macintosh, Snow leapord OS, and the movies are stored on Mobile Me for apple. When I set them up they showed fine on Firefox, but now I can only watch them on Chrome and Safari. Please fix this.

    I knew thats what the response was going to be...
    I said in my original post that I used another gif maker to upload the same frames I'm using and the image it generates is able to play a lot faster than when I try with Photoshop so it's not an issue about different browsers.
    I dont see what posting my settings will do since the site that generated the gif that plays faster is the same file size as the one saved by Photoshop... and as far as I know the only setting relevant to the animation speed is the Delay which I have set to 0, 0.1, and 0.1 which are the fastest speeds yet photoshop saves them more delayed than its suppoed to.

  • How to create a report with different page sizes

    Hi,
    I would like to create a report with different page sizes, it's possible to do it with diadem?
    When I change the layout parameters, changes afect to all sheets...
    Is there a way to change page size individually for each sheet?
    Thanks in advance.
    Marc

    Hi Marc,
    You can use the DocStart and DocEnd commands along with the PicPrint command to spool multiple print commands to the same output PDF file using the direct printer approach.  This should enable you to programmatically specify the page size differently for each sheet that you add to the print job.
    ' Print PDF Page by Page.VBS
    OPTION EXPLICIT
    Dim i, Path, OldPrintName
    Path = AutoActPath & "2D Stacked"
    Call DataDelAll
    Call DataFileLoad(Path & ".TDM")
    PDFFileName = Path & " Page by Page.pdf"
    IF FileExist(PDFFileName) THEN Call FileDelete(PDFFileName)
    OldPrintName = PrintName
    PrintName = "winspool,DIAdem PDF Export,LPT1:" ' Set to PDF printer
    PDFResolution = "72 DPI" ' "2400 DPI" , "default"
    PDFOptimization = TRUE
    PDFFontsEmbedded = FALSE
    PDFJPGCompressed = "high"
    PrintOrient = "landscape" ' orient paper
    Call PrintMaxScale("GRAPH") ' auto-max, see alternative margin setting variables below
    PrintLeftMarg = 0.181
    PrintTopMarg = 0.181
    PrintWidth = 10.67
    'PrintHeigth = 7 (read-only)
    Call WndShow("REPORT")
    Call DocStart ' Begin multi-page document/print job
    FOR i = 1 TO 4
    Call PicLoad(Path & ".TDR")
    Call GraphSheetNGet(1)
    Call GraphSheetRename(GraphSheetName, "Page " & i)
    Call PicUpdate
    Call PicPrint("WinPrint") ' Add a page to be printed
    NEXT ' i
    Call DocEnd ' End multi-page document/print job
    PrintName = OldPrintName
    Call ExtProgram(PDFFileName)
