I want to use QuickBooks for my very small bussiness, the recommendation from my accountant was QuickBooks (Windows). I just do not understand enough to decide whether to buy QuickBooks for Apple or Windows and use it in the Parallels world?

QuickBooks for Mac has been available again since at least 2004 (Intuit before that had done nothing with it for years). The current version is QB for Mac 2014. It's pretty much the same price no matter where you look.
The Mac version data is not directly compatible with the Windows version. Sending your data out to your business tax accountant and getting it back in is not at all easy. It's such a pain, our accountant comes here to finalize the books at year end.
There is still also a lot of Windows features for QB Pro which have never been added to the Mac version. They're all on the higher end side that larger businesses would need. I've never run into anything with the Mac version I couldn't do.
If your accountant wants ease of data transfer, then you'd be better off purchasing Snow Leopard Server and run that in Parallels. Then run the Windows version of QB in that.

  • Programming for College with Windows Apps on bootcamp HELP?

Hello everyone I come to you for help after a long search for the perfect laptop.
Right now I am using a macbook late 2009 with multitouch. I love the features but after signing up for some programming classes for college I had to revise what laptop I should own.
My question is if I'll be able to program on bootcamp with Windows 7 with windows applications like Dev C++, Microsoft Visual Studio, Eclipse, an assembler and the like with 100% compatibility?
I am on a very low income but I think that Apple really gets it when it comes to mobile laptops. I haven't found anything comparable to a Macbook anywhere. I've seen some imitations like the HP Envy but when you look closely they do not come close.
Laptop PC makers just don't get it with their 2 hour battery life, "Desktop replacements" and heavy laptops. What is the point of all that if it's not mobile.
I can only own one laptop and I will upgrade to a 15 inch because I need the screen real state. I'm hoping that the answer will be YES to compatibility with programming applications on Windows 7.
One last thing, I've heard of Xcode but college teaches on Windows Applications, there is no way around it. I need to use what everyone else is using right now.
    Thank you all.

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
running Windows with BootCamp on a Mac is like running Windows on any other given computer.
Those programs you mentioned shouldn't give you any kind of problems.
Only very low-level BIOS and/or hardware programming (in assembler) can arise problems due to some differences between Macs and 'other' PCs (like the lack of a full BIOS support).
Other than that you're good to go.
    Have Fun
    Stefan

  • What are good suggestions regarding Password Protection programs for Apple?

I'm looking to implement a Password Protection file/system throughout my Apple world (iMac, iPhone, iPad) and was wondering what is the strongest/user friendly programs available for Apple stuff.
    GR

I've been very happy with 1Password, which has apps for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android. You can share a single password file via Dropbox, making it easy to manage all your passwords as well as secure notes, credit card information, and other such private info. There are other similar utilities that others may recommend, but I've found no reason to switch.
    Regards.

  • How can I install word program for apple onto a MacAir

Mac Air has no CD point, have Microsoft office for Apple computers and I want to install programs on an Apple Mac Air computer....

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
In order to install applications from discs on the MacBook Air, you have two possibilities:
    1. Buy an external optical drive, connect it to the MacBook and use it to install your applications.
    2. If you have another PC or Mac, use Remote Disc > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5287
Also, if you want to install Office 2011, another option is to download Microsoft Office from the Microsoft website > http://www.microsoft.com/mac Then, install Office 2011 and activate it with your product key

  • Adding a credit card on 2 different iPhones for Apple Pay

Can I add add my credit card (for Apple Pay) to my sons iPhone 6 even if the card is already on my phone.  I would like my son to be able to use my card for Apple Pay also.

Yse, you absolutely can. You can add the same card to multiple devices, however depending on bank's risk management rules, if name on tha card doesn't match name on iTunes account, there might be a need for additional authentication ( like s call to customer care). Apple Pay supports up to 99 tokens on the same account and no differentiation whether the token used on the same devbice multiple times or on multiple devices.

  • Different behavior for mts on windows 2000

    1) I've installed oracle service for MTS on "windows 2000 professional" and started an application written in VB in REQUIER mode, successfully (it worked with MS provider for oracle MSDAORA).
    2) Then I installed the oracle service for MTS on "windows 2000 advanced server" tried the same application with the above provider and MTS in REQUIRE mode but the application fail.
The next step was to change the provider to oracle provider (I cannot remember its name, I found it in an article at metalink) and the application run.
    My questions are:
    a. Do you know about problem like this?
    b. What to fix in order to work on "windows 2000 advanced server" the MTS in require mode and using the Microsoft provider for oracle (MSDAORA)?
    Thanks,
    Ronen.
    null

Ronen, Your best bet is to talk to Microsoft support about this. The MSDAORA provider doesn't have anything to do with Oracle Services For MTS. However check the following registry values under the following registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSDTC\MTxOCI:
    a) OracleOCILib
    b) OracleSQLLib
    c) OracleXALib
These must point to dlls located under the bin subdirectory of your ORACLE_HOME directory.

  • Transfer of e-mail (email) from Outlook Express for Apple to Windows XP?

This is a repeat of a thread which was removed from the forum because of a mistake on my part.
This was my original query:- In OS 9.2.2 OE stores messages in a format which OE for Windows XP does not recognise. Forwarding them to myself changes the sender and the date. Any suggestions?
I then received two responses which were both very helpful. The first was from "Simon Teale", who first suggested the need to find an intermediate host for my e-mail. In his next message he said in part:
Otherwise Eudora Light or Netscape sound promising. But before we even need to try that, can you drag individual messages from the OE on Mac to the desktop ? Then transfer them to the Windows PC, then drag them into the Inbox in OE for Windows. Just try two or three to begin with, one sent (if you keep copies of your sent email), one received and one with attachment. They may be imported and marked as unread.
I have now tried this but have not found that I could transfer messages to OE for Windows by dragging them.
The second response was from "eww" who wrote:
You may want to download and experiment with EmailChemy. I think you'll find that it can painlessly convert your OE for Mac files to a format that OE for Windoze can read or import directly.
I have now downloaded this program and am working with the demo version. I have not yet succeded but it claims to do what I need and I think it will once I have mastered its procedure.
    A further update will follow.

    Lynite,
I was really hoping that the 'drag' method would do the trick, it's certainly worked for me in the past, but I can't remember where I was exporting from. I do remember I was importing into OE for Mac OS9. Were you able to drag individual mail messages out onto the Mac desktop (or other folder) ? And then transfer them to the PC ? Was it just the dragging into the OE for Windows message window that didn't work. If I remember, I could only drag one message at a time.
In your original post, you listed the format that OE for Windows can import from. It was quite a long list, most of them being MS products. Could you put that list up again ?
Don't worry too much about the issue with the Apple discussions, it was having "issues" at the start of the week, I replied to a post which took 10 minutes to come back, at the end of which it has posted 7 copies of my reply.
Unfortunately, I don't have access to XP under Parallels emulation on my Mac Pro (2000 Pro, 98 SE and 95 I do have - setting those up from my Virtual PC disks was a horror story in itself), so I'm unable to dabble with the version of OE on Windows that you're running.

  • ActiveSync not working for Apple Devices - Windows and android devices not having issue

Recently we have had reports of users not being able to send or sync emails to / from Apple iOS devices. When we look at the ActiveSync logs, we see the affected people getting HTTP 503 errors. Yet if this person works on a Windows Mobile device or an android
Mobile device - they do not have the problem. Similarly, if the person uses the new "Outlook" app on an Apple iOS device, they don't have the problem. It only occurs with the native mail app on iOS devices.
    We have Exchange 2013 CU5 - 4 x CAS Servers on Windows 2012, and 6 x Mailbox servers on Windows Server 2008 R2 (hardware doesn't support WS2012).
We have logged a call with MS Support and they are looking into it, but was just wondering whether anyone else has seen this issue.
PS - Before anyone suggests it - we have new servers on the way for the mailbox servers, and will install WS2012R2 and CU8 on it when they arrive.  But because our executive is being affected now, we need to look at this now.

I did inital think it might be a widows phone issue but there are no other settings for me to use.  I have also tested using a windows 8 surface and I get the same issue.
I have raised the event log level on the exchange server to expert and I have seen 2 messages when I try to connect.
I get Event ID 1100:  Exhcnage ActiveSync device requests for your uses are being blocked.  This problme frequently occurs when HTTP OPTIONS method is not allowed.
I know it is allowed as the test exchange connectivity worked and passed that test.
The other error Event ID 1309 ASP.NET warning.  Part of the exception messge is DeviceTypeMissingOrInvalid
I have come across a comment that says for certificates to work you need to use windows intune or SCCM which we don't have.  Do we know if this is true?

  • How can you get apple updates for apple like windows updates?

where does apple gets its updates

By default, Software Update will automatically check for updates on a regular basis.
You can adjust what those settings are. To do that, choose System Preferences in the Apple menu; in the new window, click the icon for Software Update. The window will change to reflect the current settings for Software Update -
You can change those settings if you wish.
Note the selection button for "Installed Software" near the top of that window - if you click that, it will display a list of all software updates that have been installed.

  • Different programs for ripping and transfering so

    or
if any one is willing to send me a copy of the installation cd i would love them forever!

What player do you have? Just select it under?Nomadworld.com downloads. Depending on the player MediaSource should be listed there, but if you select the Zen Xtra it definitely will be.
Creative will send you the install CD, but you will most likely have to pay. For all players other than the newest you can get all the software from Nomadworld.com downloads.

  • Programming for the mac without using xcode

    Hi
I'm very new to programming for Apple platform. I wanted to clear some doubts which is currently standing as a barrier in getting started.
Can I use a text editor (preferably TextMate), Interface Builder, and the Terminal (without using xcode to write & compile) to develop software for the Mac. I have installed the xcode package (~900 mb image).
Can you point me to some resources on terminal commands for compile, debug codes for the mac. (Obj-C, Cocoa api)
    Thank You.

You can use anything you want to develop software for the Mac. In fact, I always encourage people to start out with tutorials and examples using standard UNIX command line tools like vi and gcc. There are plenty of such getting started tutorials for UNIX and Linux.
At some point, however, the command line is going to get cumbersome. You may want go start writing true Mac applications instead if command line tools. Then it will be time to start with Xcode.

  • Looking for a Mapping/Route Planning program for my Macbook Pro...

I use to use "Streets & Trips" on my PC.  I am at a loss what is a good program for Apple.
    Would appreciate any guidance.  Thanks.

GPS device?  You might be able to guess that I am not the sharpest (computer) tool in the shed...
Previously, my Streets & Trips program came with a GPS antenna that I plugged in to my old laptop.  I could then use my laptop as a supersized GPS, like a TomTom or Garmin.
Right. I am not familiar with Streets and Trips and the GPS device that came with it but I think that is specific to Microsoft. You can get a similar device that plugs into your Mac the same as the Streets and Trips Device plugged into your PC. The navigation software comes with it or you can download the software.
Use Google to find Mac compatible devices. I think CoPilot Live, TomTom, and Garmin have compatible devices. But I use my phone for navigation so am not 100% sure that each of those companies have Mac compatible navigation packages that are similar to Streets and Trips.

  • CAD/CAM (mechanical) software for Apple

My grandson wants to do mechanical design on his IMac. Since he's an Apple man he doesn't want to switch to PC to get capability. Are there any inexpensive Cad/Cam (mechanical design) software programs for Apple?

Another software which has educational pricing is Form-Z which is a 3-D/2-D modeling and drafting software. None of these first few programs are that easy to use, but with some diligents and reading through tutorials or guide books almost anyone can do it.
Here is the list as I know them...
    a) VectorWorks (previously mentioned by Geroge)
    --> http://www.nemetschek.net/
    b) Form-Z - I have used this for many years in a professional architecture office (I know they have educational pricing)
    --> http://www.formz.com/
    c) ArchiCAD by Graphisoft (know friends that have used this in professional office)
    --> http://www.graphisoft.com/
    d) TurboCAD (http://www.macworld.com/news/2005/06/07/turbocad/index.php)
    --> http://www.turbocad.com/
    e) PowerCADD
    --> http://www.engsw.com/webpage_content.html
    f) Maya for OS X by Alias (very powerful but mostly used for animation/vsual effects)
    --> http://www.alias.com/eng/products-services/maya/new/index.shtml
and here are some other searches that I have done that are very good...
