Different program's sound sent to different jack ports with Pulseaudio

Hello,
I just installed Pulseaudio so I could send the output of different programs to different jacks on my computer, both the jacks on my computer are provided by the same motherboard sound card, one on the front for my headphone and one on the back. So far I haven't been able to see them in pavucontrol I only see a single output.
Here's the output of "pacmd list"

Did you ever figure this out?  I am in the same situation and cannot figure out how to refer to specific ports on the same motherboard.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pu … ont.2Frear looks promising.  However I forget whether one of my cords is plugged in to the rear jack or the center jack, and moving my desktop to look is a little involved.  Oh well, next time the need arises I will experiment further.

A very confusing Situation has arisen for me with my new(ish) x61 Thinkpad. When I connect power to the device Audio stops coming through my external speakers plugged into the microphone jack, And instead plays on the onboard speakers. It will remain like this until I disconnect power.
I have no idea what has caused this and sofar all my Google searching hasn't Given me any relevant information, So any idea's or solutions you may have are greatly welcome and appreciated.

To check if you have a virus, you can download ClamXav
also, go to Applications>Utilities>Activity Monitor and see if there's anything that you don't recognize, and check your sent email to see if you've been sending emails without your knowledge.

Make sure the pdf has the '.pdf' extension on the file name. I've seen this a few times and adding the extension usually solves the problem.

My computer runs on Windows 7, and I've installed and updated the latest versions of itunes etc, but still to no avail! I've tried different usb ports, troubleshooting, etc... But it still says "One of the USB decuces arrached to this omputer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it".
The iPod is brand new, sent to me by Apple as part of the 1st gen replacement programme. I've been using the cable that came with the 1st gen iPod (I bought the first gen second hand) It always worked on my computer with the 1st gen iPod. So I was wondering, do you think I need to replace my cable in order for my PC to recognize my iPod or is it something else?
    Thanks

Try a different cable. And are you connecting directly to your computer or through a USB hub?

  • How can I use different calendars associated with different emails to see appointments separately?

I have 3 emails accounts on my Blackberry curve. I want to use different calendars for different type of reminders/appointments. How can I do that? In calendar I pressed menu key and then clicked on select calendar, choose one email address (email 1) then entered an alarm but now if I go to a different calendar associated with different email ( email 2), it also shows me that alarm which I entered in email 1 calendar. Thanks for help

Don't have LV handy to open the old code, but I did read through the thread you referenced.  It sounds like the example configured 2 counters to create the variable-freq finite pulse train and configured a 3rd counter to count the # steps generated as verification.   That 3rd counter would be a problem for you as there is no internal timing signal connection between your 2 USB devices.  You would need to run a physical wire connection and change some of the config code to match.  Alternately, you could just delete all the code associated with the 3rd counter for now because it isn't strictly necessary.
Further advice/questions:  Are you planning on a pure sine wave of frequency such that you oscillate with both positive and negative velocity (example: varying from -1000 to +1000 Hz clockwise)?  Or is there a nominal average frequency with a small sine wave superimposed (example: nominal of 1000 Hz clockwise, variation of +/- 50 Hz)?
I *think* you may be dealing with more of a continuous pulsetrain situation, which is actually much simpler.  You would only need 1 counter/timer, though you would still perform the freq changes in a timed loop which uses the pulsetrain as its timing source.  You'd just need to keep track of your total elapsed time so you could figure out the right sinusoidal freq value at the moment you're ready to update it.
Another subtlety to watch out for if you're oscillating about 0 velocity  -- don't try to create a frequency that is lower than the rate at which you need to update.  Also, with steppers you may have mechanical stability issues at low freqs like 10's to low 100's of Hz.    These kinds of things may need to be managed as special cases which force you to deviate from a "pure" sine wave.

  • How do I set up different network locations with different wifi?

I am having an issue setting up different network locations with different wifi profiles on each. I want to do this to enable fast switching of wireless networks. In my house I have two wireless networks, my own personal one and one that is created by using a wifi modem supplied by my company. If I use the company wifi network then I can get into all my work applications without having to enable VPN access separately. It is also faster. However, they also block many applications including sending email from my personal email account, dropbox, etc. So throughout the day I need to switch wireless networks back and forth.
I was looking for a faster way to switch and thought I would try network locations. Was able to set up a new network location without issue. However it seems that whatever wireless preferences, changes, or wifi network order I put into my "Work" location it carries over to my other location which is the standard "Automatic".
What I would like it to have my "Work" location only to be able to connect to my work wifi and my other network (Automatic) to just connect to my home wifi only. That way I can enable faster wifi switching and can even use my launcher program (Alfred) to provide shortcuts.
    Anyway to do this?
Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Just thought I would bump this up in the conversation. Doing a further search I came across this discussion which is similar: Connecting to a wireless network via applescript?
However, I tried to build the Automator application as discussed and cannot get it to work. Very much a novice at Applescript and Shell Script but have created customized Automator services before. All I get now is "Shell Script command encountered an error". No more detail. I copied and pasted the script as shown in the email thread. Is there any other line or command I need to place in front of it?
    Thanks again for any help

  • Equium L40 - Lost sound in the headphone jack

    Hi, Hoping someone can help.
My current sound driver is Soundmax Integrated Digital HD Audio. And from what I remember has always been. I've downloaded it a few times from the Toshiba site for my computer and it always comes back to this driver.
The problem I have is that somewhere along the line it has lost sound in the headphone jack. I can no longer tell if i have a hardware problem or if the jack is broken. I now have Windows 7 installed but the problem was there when I had the original Vista program installed.
A few things my system tells me(Don't know if it helps)
Location 0 (Internal High Definition Audio Bus)
    C:\Windows\system32\drivers\ADIHdAud.sys
    C:\Windows\system32\drivers\drmk.sys
    C:\Windows\system32\drivers\portcls.sys
If i can't fix this because it is the jack can anyone tell me of another line for sound out I could use please? possibly USB.
    Thanks for reading.

    Hi buddy,
Can you hear sound via internal speakers?
That means the problem only is the headphone jacket?!
I think if the internal speakers work but no external speakers or headphone it seems to be a hardware issue. Have you also checked the Windows sound settings for audio output port?

  • Printing different/selective files with different copies

    Hi everyone,
I've been working on finding a solution, on how to print different pdf files with different copies, without opening the pdf-files.
    Task:
I have a folder, with 25 pdf files
I want to make a php overview, of the folder
At the end of each line/file - i would like to add a number for the copies
In the end, I would like to simply press print - and every document ive added a number/copies to - are being printet...
I guess I need to use PrintPDF - but does anyone know any pre-made program/function - that could handle the "copies" part...?
I hope someone can help me out,
    Thanks
    Jan

Well, i had hoped that the acrobat could open silent - eventhough they've removed that feature in the newer versions.
Even though the program would open - if the amount of copies was added - and i just hat to press print - it would ease the job alot.

  • Creating appointments in a different time zone with accuracy

I have my computer setup to set the date and time automatically. I also have iCal set to my current time zone. How do you create appointments for times in a different time zone with accuracy while you are in your current time zone?
For example, when I prepare for a business trip, I set my agenda in iCal while I'm at home. All of these appointments show up in my current time zone. When I get to my destination the times for my appointments are incorrect. I live in New York, but have a meeting in LA. The meeting is at 8:00 am PST. When I'm home, I set the appointment for 8:00 am, but by default, it is EST. When I get to LA, even if u change the time zone settings, the appointment shows up as 5:00 am PST. Do I need to set the appointment for 5:00 am while I'm at home in New York to take into account the time difference? Seems confusing and difficult to manage on a continual basis.
    Any suggestions?
    Mac

To elaborate further - what the current iOS manual says about times zones is:
_*When Time Zone Support is on, Calendar displays event dates and times in the time zone of the city you selected. When Time Zone Support is off, Calendar displays events in the time zone of your current location as determined by the network time.*_
Does that mean with time zone support off that when you move from one time zone to another and your phone readjusts its time setting that the appointment times are changed also or does it mean that the assumption is made that the event time is to be left as is. I believe it is the latter, but the description makes it sound to me like the opposite.
I do know that if one has time zone support enabled and you are in FL with an appointment with a California time zone enabled the time shown for the event will be 3 hours later. The description seems to say the opposite, but that was my experience in the past. In addition if time zone support is enabled and you change time zones, the time shown for the appointment will be changed.
For me at least a much clearer descrpition of what time zone support does is needed.
+*We need a checkbox that says adjust appointment time to correspond with time zone you are in in comparison to zone of event, and a checkbox that says:absolutely don't change the times I enter for events.*+

  • Question about different query results with wildcard

Hi, I'm working with a third party app on SQL Server 2000, and from what I can gather, programmed in C# & VisualFoxPro.
    When we search with
        Note contains 94949
we get 571 results, when we search with
        Note contains 94949*
    we get 575 results.
There should be at least a hundred different entries that start with "94949-1" so I expected the query with the wildcard to return something like 680 results, not an additional four rows.
    Searching with
        Note contains 94949-1*
    got 483 results
        Note contains 94949-10*
    got 0 results
Could someone explain or point me to more documentation on the difference results we get?
    Thanks

Hi Arnie, thanks for your response.
My situation is more basic than what appears in your example. Unfortunately, I am working solely through this application so I do not have access to the SQL to test out what you supplied, so my question is more of a need for an explanation of the search results. I do find lots of references to LIKE, Wildcards and pattern matching, but I don't find a way to explain to the users the best and most complete way to search. They mostly need a "this will always get us the results without missing anything" search technique and then to be able to select from a smaller group. I guess I need a basic course in understanding search results: how to get different ones and what they mean.
    Using
            Note contains 94949-'%'
returned one more result than when using an asterisk. I don't understand this difference.
            Note contains 94949-'%1'   or
            Note contains 94949-'1%'
brings nothing nor does not using quotes. But there are hundreds of records which have the string starting with 94949-1 and a varying number of characters after that.
?Does the dash read not as a character in the string but as an expression?
When I use WITHIN 3 characters, I get too few results (eight). If I use AND, I get text unrelated to the account number I am looking for.
Again when I tried to narrow the search by adding one digit to the string to be matched, I did not get any results, but 500 results from the more general search is too much to scan by opening individual records.
Thanks for pondering this with me.

  • What's the different about sa38 with or without variant?

    dear all,
What's the different about sa38 with or without variant?
    I don't have the idea.
    Best Regard!

    Hi
Variants allow you to save sets of input values for programs that you often start with the same selections. You can use them for any programs except subroutine pools. Whenever you start a program in which selection screens are defined, the system displays a set of input fields for database-specific and program-specific selections. To select a certain set of data, you enter an appropriate range of values. You can also use variants to change the appearance of the selection screen by hiding selection criteria. This is particularly useful when you are working with large selection screens on which not all of the fields are relevant.
So basically variants are use to ease your work directly or indirectly. Otherwise every time you need to give input to those values. To avoid doing the same steps again and again for selection screens you can create variants.
    Hope this helps!!
    Thanks and Regards

  • I've can't sync my ipad and Imac because I've registered different email addresses with each. What should I do?

    Hi,
I've recently bought an Ipad2 and wanted to use Pages on it - which I bought when I got my Imac a year before. However, because I've registered different email addresses with each device, I can't get these devices to recognise that I own them both. What should I do?
    Thanks,

I highly recommend having a single account.  Choose one or the other and make all future purchases on that.  With one account you can share apps between a certain number of devices, but with separate accounts you have to buy multiple copies of what you want.
Also, Pages for the computer and Pages for iOS are different programs.
