DIFFERENT SIM DETECTED CONNECT TO ITUNES

Hey
i just bought an iphone...well went onto a plan. And i need to be able to use my pre paid sim in it aswell! At the apple store they knew what i was goign to do and they never said it wouldn't work, yet i put it in and i get this. I am on optus, and using another optus sim so what can I do??
Thanks

I've bought my iPhone from Telstra and had it unlocked (by the way they charge 150AUD!!) and put my Vodafone SIM in.
Everything's great until I switch the iPhone off. Then it won't start and comes up with the same message "Different SIM detected. Please connect to iTunes"
If I do, it takes a couple of retries and then it gets back to normal.
The problem is, what happens if I have to turn the phone off (eg: because it freezes while using Safari, as it's happened a few times before) and I'm nowhere near a computer???
Pretty ****** off...

    hi
what to do when my ipone displays diferrent sim detected ,connect to itunes thanks for your reply in advance

When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • 'Different SIM Detected' Issue on outright iphone

    Hi,
I've bought my iphone outright many months back. Currently I'm on a overseas trip at a place with very limited internet. When I try to insert a local SIM, iphone says different SIM detected, and asks to connect to itunes. However, when I connect it to itunes, it tries to log on to apple store, and since there is no internet, it fails and thus stops verification. I think verification is unnecessary as I bought the phone outright, and it should work with any SIM anywhere in the world out of the box!
So, I've found my $800 iphone useless if i take it out of the country of purchase. Do you guys have any idea how to resolve this issue? With limited time on hand, and since I'm in a new country, I wouldn't be able to visit an apple store or a apple reseller. I do understand that all will be fine once I'm back from my trip, but I find this so annoying. I will appreciate any help.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

It is a serious reply, that's what it took to fix it.
If you run a backup of your phone before you restore it you won't loose anything.
You'll just have to wait while iTunes re-syncs all your Music / Photos / Movies / Apps which can take some time depending on how many you have.
You'll still have all your SMS messages and Contacts though just fine.
Restore was the only option for me. Once the Official carrier unlock (from O2) came through from Apple on iTunes the phone was asking for iTunes when it changed SIM or restarted without exception. I couldn't suffer my phone doing that and I tried everything to fix it. Restoring was the only way to get it working properly. Now it's works perfectly and you can put in any SIM without any complaints.
Reply if you want any more info.

  • Different SIM Detected - Please connect to iTunes

    Hello,
I have had my iPhone 3G contract on O2 for just over a year. In the beginning I wanted to keep my previous O2 number, so was told to use my previous simcard and they would update the account information. This was fine.
After a while I realised I wasnt getting 3G signal, and never had. I assumed it was the handset so I went to apple store about 6 month ago, they got me a new one. The same problem, I couldnt get 3G but being vey busy I couldnt go back to apple for another 6 months. They got me a new one again, and when the problem persisted we realised it must be the sim card.
After a few days I went to O2 and they supplied me with a new simcard, after a day waiting for the account to transfer, I installed the sim and it got 3G signal at last.
But the problem now, is that every time the phone boots up, it says Please connect to iTunes. The only alternative is an emergency call. You can imagine my frustration when I went abroad to copenhagen with all my contact details and phone numbers on the phone, and no way to access it.
I have spoken to the O2 iOPhone support team, who tried to help by talking me through the 'Reset all settings' option. But the problem persists.
Please help! This is very frustrating.
    Kind regards,
    Stuart

    Hello,
Thank you all for your contributions, eventually after 2 long conversations on the phone with the Network and with Apple themselves, I booked in to the Genius Bar of my nearest apple store.
They were too busy to even listen to my problem or think it through, but just ended up replacing my handset. This seems to have worked, but I will avoid rebooting from my previous phone back up... as it seems like it must be a software conflict somewhere between the SIM, IPhone, ITunes and the online registry.
I really hope the rest of you can solve your problems... The three previous times I have been to the genius bar they had time and were very helpful, so I think a visit to apple is the best bet.
    All the best,
    Stuart

  • Official iPhone unlocked problem - new SIM detected -

    Hi
I have an original iPhone that has been officially unlocked by O2 here in the UK. This phone has been unlocked so it is now running on the Orange network.
    The Issue:
Every time this iPhone is either powered off or put into airplane mode and then switched back on it doesn't remember it is unlocked. It is a real issue trying to get it to recognise the Orange SIM that is now inserted. This phone is now my work phone and the problem is that this happened when I was away from home. I switched it off during a long (and boring) meeting and could not get it working again after. Emergency calls only.
Why does this phone continually not remember that it is unlocked. This is a real issue if you don't have your computer near by and if the phone has powered down for some reason. Not only that I have to put in an O2 sim, connect to iTunes, hit sync and quickly unplug the phone, re insert the Orange SIM, re connect to iTunes "New SIM detected", hit continue, hit sync and quickly un plug the phone just to get it working. This can't be right.
What is going on and can anyone help.

No I haven't experienced this problem, but swapping SIM cards has helped some people with various issues. It may just be that you were unlucky, though 3 times seems very odd. You say that all is well now?

  • Iphone stuck on "Connect to iTunes screen", iTunes won't detect it

I have an iPhone 5. I tried to install the IOS 8 update via iTunes today, but after about 15-20 minutes, my phone went to the "connect to iTunes" screen and would not complete the update. I don't recall if an error number popped up, but at any rate I can't find out what it was or even if there was one now.
Since attempting to update the iPhone, I cannot get past the "connect to iTunes" screen. My computer detects that there is an apple device, but that's about it. When I plug my iPhone into the computer, iTunes runs in the background but does not pop up like it usually does. Additionally, now if I bring up the task manager and end iTunes, then iTunes still will not pop up if I attempt to run it again with the iPhone still plugged in. iTunes will only pop up if I unplug the iPhone and then run iTunes. iTunes used to pop up automatically once the iPhone was plugged in. As for trying to unbrick my iPhone:
I have tried turning the iPhone off and on again. It goes to a black screen when off, as usual. It goes to the Apple logo, and then right back to the "connect to iTunes" screen once turned on.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes after unplugging the iPhone, and then plugging the iPhone back in once iTunes was reinstalled.
I have verified that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
I have verified that the Apple Mobile USB Driver is installed
I have tried switching USB ports on my computer
I have tried putting my phone into recovery mode by unplugging it, holding the home and power buttons and then plugging it into the computer while still holding the home button, but there is no effect.
I have tried updating the phone by going to device manager, then to the update driver screen for the Apple device, and then manually selecting the update from Common Files>Apple>Mobile Device Support>Drivers, but there is no effect.
I have tried removing the SIM card, but even without the SIM card it still goes to the connect to iTunes screen once turned on again.
I have tried putting back in the SIM card, but no effect.
My iPhone has previously had trouble with the last update too, but I was able to get it working again somehow. I've since forgotten how, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't this difficult. I do not know if the last update was ever installed at all after I fixed the iPhone, so I do not know my iPhone's current iOS version. I think it is iOS 7.1.2, but I do not know how to check.
I would really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

Nevermind, I was able to fix it. I had to put my iPhone into recovery mode, and then plug it into someone else's computer with iTunes. That got it back to normal. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this is? I'm hoping I won't have to keep repeating this process every update...

  • After I tried to update my Ipad mini, it kept saying hello in different languages on my lock screen and then when I slide across, it says connected to itunes but it's not doing anything!! Please help!!! And by the way it's plugged into the laptop to itune

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup

As kb1951 states, unless this phone was purchased directly from Apple, it is not officially unlocked. In the US, only Apple sells officially unlocked iPhones. The message you got generally means your phone was hacked to unlock it...jailbroken...Apple's servers have detected such & are preventing your phone from activating...there's nothing wrong with the activation servers.
You'll need a sim card from the carrier your phone is locked to in order to activate it. If you don't know what carrier, you'll have to call AppleCare in the US to determine this info. Be aware, US carriers will not authorize official unlocking unless you are a customer that used the phone on their network. Thus, there is most likely no way for you to get this phone officially unlocked.
    Good luck.

  • IPhone 3G says connect to iTunes, once connected iTunes says: The sim card inserted in this phone does not appear to be connected. (even though sim is out of iPhone 4)

I Updated my 3g yesterday to ios 4, and now it says exactly what is in the title.
i have tried 3 sim cards all different networks, and one from an Iphone 4. none of them work.
is there anyway i can get this phone working again, i want to give it to my daughter.

I got it from work. They said it was O2. The last one was and worked fine
It was a phone that had a cracked screen that I replaced and won't allow me to do anything until I connect to iTunes but now saying the above.
When you say it maybe locked is this the phone being locked to work at all or locked to a network? Can I resolve this myself?
    Thanks

  • HT1414 new iphone 3, had trouble setting up, took about 5 hours and call to Texas, finally sorted by following morning. Now  after 5 weeks No Service suddenly appears and no closing down etc makes any difference. Connect to itunes and SIM not recognised!

what do you do when new iphone 3 will not accept SIM card which it has been doing since I bought it 6 weeks ago but now suddenly No Service and will not recognise SIM. Had this trouble on initial start up, took a 3 hour conversation with Apple USA to get it going. Can't connect to itunes because it won't recognise the SIM. Cannot remember what we did to get it going last time as it took so long and we did so many different things. Any suggestions other than put it in the bin!

First, though the phone is "new" to you, it really is a 5 year old piece of equipment.  Ancient by current standards.
Have you obtained a replacement SIM from your carrier?

  • IPhone stuck at "connect to iTunes" and not detected

    Hey all,
Last night I tried to update to the new OS. While doing so there was an error with the installation and now my phone is stuck at the "connect to iTunes" logo. When it is plugged in, its not detected by iTunes so I can't restore. I've checked my Device Manager and the phone is indeed detected and installed properly on my computer. I've tried entering DFU mode but that hasn't gotten it detected either. People have been saying just leave it plugged in so I did overnight. Its been 6 hours now and I'm pretty upset. Anyone have any ideas?

Try connecting to a different USB port, a different sync cable, or a different computer.

  • IPhone 3S was used with Bell, then unlocked to use with Rogers. Now I want to use it as iPod (Don't want to activate as phone),but when connecting to iTunes I'm getting message:  There is no SIM card, disconnect and insert new SIM card. Help?

I have an old iPhone 3S, that was used with Bell. My friend lost her phone and I lend her this one, which she unlock to use with Rogers. I got it back and want to use as an iPod not the phone, but when I connected to iTunes I am getting this message: "There is no SIM card installed in the iPhone you are attempting to activate. Please diconnect and insert a SIM card".
I went to Bell and Rogers where we tried inserting active cards but message never changed.
On the phone itself I am able to get wifi but finish with "Your phone could not be activated because the activation server is temporary anavailable."
I run diagnostic from iTunes:everything is working properly, only message out of normal is "iTunes is not running in safe mode"
How can I sinc this phone with iTunes, so I can use it to lisen to music?
    Any help will be apriacieted

I can not get to iPhone screen, so no way to get to Settings. That is the problem. When I connect phone to iTunes I get screen asking to insert SIN card. On the phone I'm getting Cinfigure screen asking Launguage , Country or Region, Wi-Fi, ( I can connect to my home wi-fi), and last screen "Activating your iPhone". After two minutes of waiting IM getting message: Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server in temporary unavailable. try connecting to iTunes or try later or contat apple.com/support.
Like I mention, I went to Bell as well Rogers store and tried to insert active SIM card with no results.
Yes, my friend unlock the phone to use with Rogers but I don't know where

  • How do you update apps that where purchased using different iTunes accounts?  I get a cannot connect to iTunes message and it won't accept the password even after you change it.

Both my iPad and iPhone have the same problem.  I have purchased apps with three different accounts. I understand I will need to use the original acct to do the update but every time it asks for the password I put it in and get a message that I cannot connect to iTunes store. I have even had the password reset and it still will not connect on the upgrade.  But I can sign in with that account and purchase new apps i am loading a free one now just to make sure. So what is that about?  Please do not tell me I have to also use the original password!  We have reset them so many times that there is no way to remember the original one used at time of purchase a year and 1/2 ago.  Please help. I have also upgraded to the iCloud thinking this would solve the problem but it still exists.

I use only one Apple ID and only one ID. I did have to change the password at one point but I had no issues at all with updating apps after I changed the password.
If you can download new apps with the ID that you changed the password for, I would think that you will be able to update apps associated with that ID as well.
Did you try restarting the iPad after signing out of the one account and then sign in to the other account/accounts?

  • HT201210 I have tried to update to IOS6 and it has prompted me to connect to ITunes but when I do I keep getting the message ' There is no sim card inserted in the Iphone you are trying to activate'.  My phone is now locked on the IOS6 update screen!

I have been without mu IPhone 4 since yesterday now as I tried to do the IOS6 update and since then it has messed up my phone and I am unable to access any of it's functions as it is locked on the update screen.
My phone was bought through Vodfone and have been on their network ever since, never had any problems like this.
It prompts me to connect to ITunes and when I do it will not go any further as stating 'No sim card is inserted in the IPhone you are trying to activate'.  Well there is a sim in there and I have removed it and reinserted it on many occasions today.  I am also not trying to activate my phone as all I did was try to the update which I was prompted to do in my setting!
I have seen many people on the net today with the same or similar problems but as yet I am to find a solution!
Help, please as it is driving me crazy!!!

    Try a Hard Reset.....
Press and hold the Wake / Sleep button AND the Home button at the same time, keep them both pressed until the Apple Logo appears on the screen, it can take 10 or more seconds.  Ignore the swipe to turn off message.
