Different software and database user

I want to install oracle software and oracle database on two difference user
Software user: orasoft
Primary group: oinstall
Secondary group: dba
User Home: /u01/orasoft
$ORACLE_HOME=/u00/app/oracle/product/10.2.0
/u00: owner: orasoft:oinstall permission 775 (before installing software)
Database User: oradb
Primary group: dba
Secondary group: oinstall
User Home: /u01/oradb
In this scenario,
Software is getting installed perfectly; I’m getting permissions issue for creating database
1. Do I need to change the $ORACLE_HOME permissions to 775 after software installation for the database to get installed without any issue?
2. if I do this, then the permission executables also gets changed to rwx-rwx-rx.

First of all, I cannot really see the concept behind the user management how you have assigned orasoft and oradb users to oinstall and dba groups.
Why cannot oinstall be the primary for both users and dba is the secondary? As well as what OS group do you plan to be the sysdba and sysoper groups?

SSO with different ECC and UME user

Hi everyone!
I'm in MII 12.1.10 and trying to configure MII for SSO logon on ECC through JCO connector. My problem is i have different user in ECC and UME. SSO was configured successfully when user are equals
ECC have a user mapping for users from AD and it's works for SSO on SAPGUI for example.
On MII, user are logged in with AD user. But when i try to call a RFC with a logon ticket didn't work.
So, SSO logon works if, and only if, ECC user and UME user are the same? Can ECC validate the ticket with AD mapping user?

Then only the ticket can be validated.

Separate Oracle Software and Databases?

I need to install the Oracle application software to one disk volume, and allow Oracle to store it's databases on another distinct disk volume. I'm also doing this with a headless response file. I initially thought that the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_BASE settings in the response file may be what I need:
ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1
ORACLE_BASE=/u01/app/oracle
However, since ORACLE_HOME is a subdirectory of ORACLE_BASE, I can't mount both locations to different volumes.
How can I do this?

Just made a new data change on my iPod to have iCloud they then asked me my user name for my iCloud account but my iTunes account is different and they won't let me change the user in iTunes with involves that I can't buy anything on iTunes now

Linksys 1.0.0.0 VMS software and remote users

We need to give remote access to this software.. Remote destop into the server hosting the VMS doesn't seem to work as although you can RD in and get the main console software running, you just get a black screen in the camera picture area in both.
We had this problem a few weeks ago with our initial install of VMS and it was related to the screen resolution of the server running it. Once we went through a number of res settings, we found one that supported it.
This doesn't appear to be the issue in this case as have built a RD profile with the correct resolution with no result.
We need to make the playback option at least available to a couple of user who won't have physical access to the server.
Doesn't look like the VMS has a consoling option, so we can't run playback as a client ?..
anyone had any thoughts on this ?

This would be great if it wasn't the case that when you went to use the open recording option, the login dialog is stuck with the server as local machine and there seems to be no way to change this.
Can you install the playback module on its own ?. if not, whats the point of the custom installation option. Why would anyone want to install the main console and not the playback option?.
Can someone tell me were I need to go to repoint the playback module installed on the client PC's to the remote server as you don't appear to be able to do within the program.

MPC Software and LPX users?

The MPC software update to version 1.5 adds a really cool feature called Midi Control Mode. It's supposed to allow you to control other tracks with the MPC but I can't seem to figure it out.
Dan from Akai has a video on youtube about it but he's using it with Ableton Live. Has anyone using the software with LPX gotten it to work? And are there any required configurations in LPX to use a MIDI controller, I didn't have to do any configurations for my Axiom Pro 61 to work so I'm kind of confused?

Database owner and database user with db_owner permission

we deployed a java hibernate application which creates the database tables on deployment. A login is created and mapped for the database as the user. For that login the db_owner role is given. On the deployment we received an error mentioning execute permission
issue.
the same process is done and this time the login is created but not mapped as the user. the login is assigned as the database owner from the database property. this time the deployment worked fine.
what is the difference between setting the login as database owner and setting as a user with db_owner role.

The error i received was "the execute permission was denied on the object 'sp_tables'........".
I solved this issue by giving db_owner permission to master database for the relevant user.
In my local computer i didn't give permission to master database. I have only assign the user as the owner of the database and deployment was success.
But this error comes in another place where I implement the system.
if your application is not only a desktop application without anything critical on it, then I strongly advise to stay away from making anybody db_owner in the
master-database. That's THE system database. It's easy to take over that system for such an account then.
I am a bit surprised you are getting this error in that context. Originally the public role should have execute permission on it. So it seems someone has changed the defaults permissions (for hardening purposes?) Then reverting to original state is much
less harmful than the db_owner role.

ISight shows some lines and weird colors in every software and user

Since saturday, the day i got my brand new mac, i've been reading the topics around here. None of them seem to resemble my issue.
On saturday i charged the mac, turned it on and took a picture on Photobooth. Everything was normal until that very same night when i turned it on again and the camera showed some lines and went from normal color to green, then to red. I could see myself but not in proper colors. Got no message of camera in use nor it was undetected.
I let it rest for a while and tested again on Sunday, Monday and today and it's the same thing. It has nothing to do with photobooth effects because 'normal' shows an image with the issue and the lines appear in every effect.
I've already followed all troubleshooting guides and nothing worked (every software and every user has the issue, USB is recognized and SMC restart made no change) I'd love to call the support line but my work schedule keeps me from doing it.
I'd love to show you a picture i took with this issue but i have no idea how to post it around here.
hope i can get some help before giving up and sending it back to the store.

Query to know a user is a Database User or a Windows User

Can any one help me with the query to find out the given user name is a database user or a windows user in oracle 10g/11g?

Or you need to make clear by what you mean with WINDOWS USERS.
Are this the USERS connecting from a WINDOWS CLIENT ( a PC/Notebook) to a database account in your database?
Then look them up in V$SESSION ( OSUSER column )
Or do you need to find the SCHEMA users that these WINDOWS users connnect to ( USERNAME column of V$SESSION )

ADF, toplink and 2 database users

I'm pretty new in creating web based applications. So I did some tutorials about using ADF and Toplink.
These tutorials are really helpful, but all examples I found use only one database user.
I wonder if there is a way to handle 2 or more database users.
For example I have 2 database users A and B which have the same tables an views. Now I want to display a login dialog where a username and password can be inserted. Depending to this login data the web based application should works with the tables of database user A or user B.
Is there a way to realize this with Toplink or another technology?

It's many was to solve your problem depending on the architecture you want implement and the type of software you want to build.
If you may want to develop your software as an asp solution, I will recommend you to see documentation about private virtual database, label security and new encryption facilities. With private vitual database on will be able to create one architecture to serve many different customers. This is for sure very interesting in term of maintenance and in term of monitoring.
If you may want to develop separate software modules that access separate schema to be more independant in the software version and evolution, you will be able to developp once in the top link manager and deploy your object in different place indicating in the mapping the source of your object (the schema). This may be done programmatically also. The top link documentation is very complete and helpful.

How to separate different views and parts of a single line of business(LOB) universal app for windows 8.1 with many users.

Hello am an intermediate Windows Phone/Store Developer. Am currently in the process of implementing a LOB app that will have three different types users, an admin, a student, a teacher . Depending on how a user logs in i would like certain pages to be exposed
to them and the rest to be hidden. The app will also store data temporally on a local db then sync regularly to an azure database(Can the recent entity framework 7 that supports store/phone apps allow code first databases or are there features still not fully
accessible in WinRT apps)...This i believe can handle but also kindly point me out to existing implemented resources/examples i will appreciate very much.
What am finding problematic is how to consume different app data stored by various users logged in for these different views. Will i need an asp web api is it really necessary cause i want to avoid it cause i have about three months to do it. I do not want
to create three different apps and one ASP Web AP, i want one single app and an api if possible, i know windows usually sandboxes apps hence app to app communication will be hard if not impossible. So my question is, is it possible to implement different
user session management with a login (Windows Live ID) which i can abstract various parts of the app from them depending on the users login id in the app. E.g How can an admin logged in the same app as the student have access rights to certain pages in the
app that a student will not see. How do i route different users to certain pages and can isolated storage store these persisting as a setting.

Hello, I have iMac from Oct, 2010 and have OS 10.6.7 and multiple users. Mail icon was accidently removed along with program. Mail 4.4 is on other users but when I reloaded software my user got Mail 4.3. Mail 4.3 did not work with latest OS. Ideas?Matt

About 3-4 days ago the Mail icon in dock had question mark and was accidently removed, along with program on my user. Oops.
1. Mail 4.4 is on other users and works fine, but for me it does not work and tells me V4.3 does not work with latest OS X.
2. I reloaded software from my user with original disks (Oct, 2010) and got Mail 4.3 again. Mail 4.3 did not work with latest OS. I am unable to load Mail. Gives Yellow error message.
" You have Mail version 4.3 (1081/1084). It can’t be used on Mac OS X Version 10.6.7 (Build 10J869). For more information, click the Help button."
3. Tried to update software and look for update for mail 4.3 on Apple site to no success.
Hate to go to MS-Entorage ( I may need to learn something new and alien) mail program since contracts are in Mail/Address Book.
Ideas?

The users tend to be in different locations and need to login at different workstations, sometimes the workstation may be WindowsXP and othertimes it is windows7.
How can we use Firefox & Thunderbird in this situation.
I find that Windows7 uses compressed files to store the location information.
when a user logs on to win7 it creates a new account.
