Different take on transferring music from iphone to laptop (PC)

SO, I know there have been alot of questions on here about how to move songs purchased on the iphone to a computer, however I haven't been able to find one with my problem, if I missed the answer please excuse me and just point me in the right direction.
I purchased a song on my iphone yet it is not showing on the phone in the purchased on iphone playlist and as such isn't being transferred to the computer when I try any of the normal approaches. It is still on the phone and playable, but can't figure out how to port it over.

Yes tried that, I think the problem is that the song that was purchased is not showing on the phone as purchased on the phone even though it was and is in my phone's music library. I believe it is the fact that it isn't showing as purchased on the phone that is keeping it from transferring.

Purchased/Downloaded music from itunes to iphone - how can I sync / upload music to PC to back up?

    PaulCB
Saw your post about transferring music from iPhone. I guess I am a total dweeb; I cannot understand Apple's instructions.
I have two identical PCs. Have same version of iTunes on each. iPhone 3GS with 4.01 OS. I cannot figure out how to transfer the 5400 songs on my iPhone into my iTunes library without erasing the 2500 songs (different titles which came from a Dead Dell) that are already there. Any advice would be super appreciated.

  • Transferring music from Iphone to a new installed Itunes library

I have recently had my lap top repaired and my Itunes has had to be erased, I have reinstalled Itunes and my Itunis es music library is now empty and I did not make a back up, is there anyway I can transfer all the music from Iphone back in to my music library if  I sync it with Itunes library it is going to wipe all the music on my phone, thanks

iTunes includes an option to import iTunes content from an iPod, iPad, or iPhone that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store.
First you need to re-authorize your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes if you haven't already done so.
With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File > Import Purchases From > the name of your iPhone.

  • Transferring music from IPOD to Laptop

I no longer have access to the computer I originally set up my IPOD with. How do I get files to transfer from my IPOD classic (30GB)to my new computer? When I open the IPOD in My computer, I can find no music folder.

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod or iPhone to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

boggles my mind that I can't simply transfer MY files from MY phone and MY PC. /END RANT
Boggles my mind that people don't have a backup and then on top of that, they place blame everywhere but themselves when it comes back to bite them.
$25 so I can have access to MY files is just stupid.
If I have data on two sources (phone and PC), why should I need a 3rd source for backup? There is NO reason why my phone can't act as a backup for PC and vice versa. The old iPods could do this. My old Android phone could do this!
I backup all my important work and personal files, but having 12 gigs of music saved on 3 different sources (plus the CD originals) is just unnecessary.
Please don't make excuses for Apple not supporting this.
But how about going back to solving the problem... is there freeware available or a workaround so that I and the original poster can copy music from phone to PC???
Thanks to those who are trying to help.

  • Transfering music from iphone 4 to an iphone 5 help

I recently upgraded my iphone 4 to an iphone 5. I tried to transfer my music to the new phone from itunes and my music will not transfer. What can i do to fix this issue.

    Hi Lav122,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The first thing I would suggest is to transfer your purchases from the iPhone 4 to your computer.
Your post doesn't indicate what type of computer you have, but here is the basic information:
iTunes 10 for Windows: Transfer purchases from your iPod, iPhone, or iPad to an authorized computer
Next, I would suggest backing up your iPhone 4 to iCloud or iTunes and restore your new iPhone with that backup.
The article below will show you how.

I hope this information helps ....

  • Transferring music from iphone to new iphone

So, say I'm West Coast guy and in the East Coast visiting family. Had a iPhone 5s and just got a new iPhone 6. Figured I could backup my iPhone 5s on brother's iMac and then restore it to the new iPhone 6. Most of it went OK, except I've got some of his apps and a few other things - but I did not get any of my music over to the new iPhone 6. Most all my music was imported into my iTunes from CDs and then onto my iPhone 5s.
Question: any way to get my music back onto the new iPhone 6, or will I have to resynch when I get home?
Is there a better/cleaner way to transfer settings/content from one iPhone to another new one, other than backup and restore from iTunes?
    Thanks!

  • Transferring music from iPhone to MacBook Pro

I  just bought a new macbook pro and went to transfer my music from my iPhone to the new iTunes, and only half transferred. The other half are in the iTunes music section but are not highlighted. Help?

The iphone is not a backup device.
The music sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases:  File>Transfer Purchases.
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • Transferring music from Iphone to Computer problems

I am really not sure where to ask this.
I am transferring my music from my iphone to my computer because it seems a lot of my songs on my computer have disappeared over the last few years. There is a folder for the band, but the music is all gone. My phone has all of it. So to make it easy I got Sharepod to transfer the music. It has fixed some of the problem, but there is still about 4 gigs of music on my phone, that does not transfer over. I know that sharepod could be the problem (even tho I don't know how the music disappeared in the first place). Does anyone have any kind of answers, or a better method to transfer my music. My backup hdd recently failed so the iphone is my only option.
I am truely sorry for asking here, but I am running out of places to ask.
Ty for any help in advance.

Music should never disappear from an iTunes library unless you are having HDD problems. So I would start by resolving that problem.
Was the music all downloaded from iTunes, or does it come from multiple sources? If it is all iTunes you can restore it to your computer by connecting the phone and choosing "Transfer purchases" from the iTunes File menu. If it is from multiple sources then you need an iPhone file browser. I am not familiar with Sharepod, so I don't know if it is the problem or not. I have heard good things about TouchCopy.

  • Transferring music from iPhone to a new computer...

I spilled coffee on my computer and had to get a new one, but I hadn't backed up my iTunes... Is there any way that I can take my music from my iPhone and put it into iTunes on my new computer???

iTunes includes an option to transfer content that was purchased from the iTunes Store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for content that was purchased from the iTunes Store only.
Without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
The iPhone is not designed for or intended to be a backup device.

  • Transferring Music from iPhone to new computer

    Hello,
The computer I normally sync with iTunes has crashed suddenly with an I/O error on the hard disk.  This has left the computer completely useless and now I am trying to manage the music on my iPhone with my work laptop, (Windows PC) but I am only able to transfer my purcahsed songs from iTunes off my phone to the work laptop music library, and I can't sync without losing all my other content on the iPhone that is in my original library on the crashed laptop.
With my original computer out of commission there must be some way of creating a new library on my second computer and managing my music from the iPhone.  My only copy of the music files is on the iPhone.  How do I move these to the new laptop?

You should be able to recover the media with the tips in  this post from forum regular Zevoneer but I'm not sure what the implications are for your application settings. You can probably transfer your purchases into a newly authorised library, backup the device, recover any other media using third party tools, then restore the device from the backup. That might switch the assocation of the device to the new machine but I couldn't say for sure.
