Different USB annoyance
Okay, I've had this annoying issue recently on my 17" 2.5 MBP - I have a powered USB hub that I have attached on the left side (near the magsafe). I have my external aluminum keyboard connected the the hub and on the keyboard I have my mighty mouse connected to it. Frequently, I disconnect and re-connect from the USB hub and magsafe.
Here's the problem: When I connect my USB hub everything seems powered but my mighty mouse does not move. It has power (I can see the red LED glowing underneath the mouse) but the mouse pointer is frozen on the screen. I can move the pointer with my trackpad but not with the mouse. BUT, if I disconnect and reconnect again everything works fine.
Anyone else run across this and what should I do or try?

Kin, have you tried the hub in the RH usb port? If so do you get the same problem?
If you don't get the same problem then it is most likely the difference reported elsewhere between the 2 ports. In this case I would report it to Apple through the appropriate feedback option accessed through the Contact Us at the bottom of this page.
This is also the answer to DAC73. Although both ports have the same specs they are not equal in performance for whatever reason. It is quite commonly reported in these discussions that the RH port works for some plugins which don't work in the LH port.
I've had a bus-powered hub work well in the LH port but I didn't have any borderline usb devices apparently using the hub. I can't plug the adaptor for my optical cordless mouse into the LH port unless I also use the mouse on my LH side - but this is a problem of the radio link.

My computer runs on Windows 7, and I've installed and updated the latest versions of itunes etc, but still to no avail! I've tried different usb ports, troubleshooting, etc... But it still says "One of the USB decuces arrached to this omputer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it".
The iPod is brand new, sent to me by Apple as part of the 1st gen replacement programme. I've been using the cable that came with the 1st gen iPod (I bought the first gen second hand) It always worked on my computer with the 1st gen iPod. So I was wondering, do you think I need to replace my cable in order for my PC to recognize my iPod or is it something else?

My iPhone 4S will charge on a laptop but not from a wall plug. I have tried different boxes and different USB cords from the wall but none work. These boxes and USB cords work for other family members with iPhones and a USB cord that works from the laptop won't work from 3 or 4 different wall boxes that work for others. I'm stumped :/
Update: It seems as though the phone will charge if I plug it in and then turn it off. It will not charge while the phone is on. Also iTunes will not recognize it, so I can't sync or anything. I read somewhere that it could be a fuse somewhere?? Or maybe the dock connector. Where is the best place to get this repaired?

Synching error with different USB port
I set up my iPhone and had no problems synching with iTunes. I then changed to a different USB port than the one I had originally used. I began to recieve the following error when I tryed to synch "0xE800001". I then switched to a different usb port and everything worked fine.
Is there any way to get iPhone to work with the new usb port because that is the only port that charges when my computer is off.Check out article below for tips and suggestions

Make sure you perform all Vista Software updates, also visit your PC manufacture website and download and install latest drivers for your PC hardware.
Also ensure you are not connecting via a USB Hub or using a USB extension cable.
If it only gives that error message in 1 USB port and not others. Try disconnecting any un-needed USB devices. Then connect back to that port and try syncing again. -
Hi skydiver, I have ios7.4, I tried two different USB ports and it still doesn't show,up on my desktop in my computer as iPad so I can't click it. If it was there I would open and see all my photos, and YES it ask me DO I trust this computer! several times.

I have three ipods, none of which are being recognized by my itunes. I have reset each ipod, with no results. I wonder if the problem isn't with the USB ports. The mouse works fine in each port; nothing happens when I plug in the ipods. I have tried two different USB cables. I have no other USB devices with which to test. I have made sure I have the most recent updates and rebooted the computer. Any idea what is going on?

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

very same cables worked before update to maverick.Dunno if this will help you. I tried plugging in my ipad to the same cable that has been in the same usb port for ages and it would not charge. I tried tons of updates and nothing worked. While reading these messages I thought to try a different usb port (same computer) and it worked (at least it says it is). I have a early 2008 imac. Went from far right port (if facing the back) to middle (there are three.) I did turn off find my ipad, but I don't think that mattered and plan to turn it back on. Good luck. (All this to read a book I paid for on my computer!)

I'm using windows 7, trying to download pictures from my canon 5d mark 2, but when I click import, the camera does not appear. I've tried changing USB ports, switching the camera on and off, trying a different USB cord, tried a different camera, but nothing. Please help! Can you see the Canon EOS camera and image files using Windows Explorer? If not disconnect the camera, close all applications' shutdown Windows, and TURN OFF the power to your system and ALL connected devices. Disconnect all phones, iPads, and any other USB devices and restart your system.
Retry Windows Explorer and see if your camera is showing. If so try LR import again. -

This Error usually indicates a Hardware issue with the Device... However...
Make sure you have the Latest Version of iTunes (v11.1.5) Installed on your computer

Just updated iTunes to 10.6.0.40. Now it does not detect my iPhone (prompt says reconnect, could not detect). Tried restarting and different USB port. What next asside from system restore with my Windows 7.Cannot Sync or get photos. Have 3Gs with os4.
I removed iTunes completely, then reinstalled. Still not identifying phone. When iPhone connected, prompt says "iPhone detected, could not be identified properly. Unplug and try again." Still not working.
Tried by installing previous version of iTunes (10.5.0.142) which did worked. Would not open iTunes because it had been previously installed with a newer version.

These are two different technologies. One is USB oriented and another one for COM-port. I use CA-53 (USB-cable), which suits to the latest phones.
