Different user IDs in LDAP and R/3

Hi,
EP EP 6.0 SP20
We have configured Single sign on from protal to R/3. Works great... Then we started out to use LDAP for Portal user maangement. PErformed the configuration in portal and this works fine as well.
My main issue is that the LDAP user ID and the R/3 user ID are not the same and hence we would not be able to perform Single sign on.
For example the LDAP user ID name of an employee is "peterc" where as the LDAP user id name of that employee is "peter.cuddihy". Hence the single sign on does not work. We want to use LDAP as the user database as we also intend to cnfigure SPNego for windows based authentication.
Is ther any way that I can create the portal user id to be "peter.cuddihy" and map this user to "peterc".
NOTE : We do not want to use the User mapping functionality. IT is too to do the user mapping for the the number of users we have and also the security invloved in this method.
Any help

Hi gurus,
i am not sure if i am missing something, but it looks like the Login tickets would not work if LDAP user ID and the R/3 user ID are the same. Is user mapping the only way to go if the LDAP user ID and the R/3 user are different. Cant we still in some way use logon tickets from portal ( with LDAP as user data source) to R/3 ???
please advise

  • Different user IDs in UME and ADS, mapping?

    Dear All,
we want to implement Integrated Windows Authentication for Portal.
For such a implementation we we've found descirption in the SAP Note: 935644 - "Configuring Kerberos on NW04 against Database User Store"
The problem is, that we have different user IDs in J2EE Engine and MS ADS user store and the mapping has to be done "via additional UME attribute".
Anyone know how to implement such a attribute mapping?
    Thanks for help!

  • How can i use 2 different apple ids for imessage and facetime on 1 ipad?

How can i use 2 different apple ids for imessage and facetime on 1 ipad?

Do you mean can you use one Apple ID for FaceTime and one for iMessage? You should be able to. Or, do you mean, can you log into iMessage (or FaceTime) with two Apple IDs at once? No.

  • Different Apple IDs for iTunes and iCloud

As a legacy from MobileMe,  I have one Apple ID for iTunes (around 10 years old) that has all of my purchases, and another for iCloud (created later as a requirement of MobileMe) that has all the email, syncing, etc.  Apparently now I can't use Family Sharing because I am signed into iTunes and iCloud with different Apple IDs.
This has caused other issues as well for years, and I would like to once and for all have one Apple ID for both iTunes and iCloud.  What will happen if I start signing into iCloud with my original iTunes Apple ID?  I'm assuming I will lose the following:
-- Any email in the cloud
    -- All calendar info
    -- All notes
    Am I correct?
    Anything else I would lose?
Any way to avoid losing all this?
Is there a better way to solve this issue?
Thanks in advance for any help or insight.

  • Can different apple IDs home share and share i tunes/app purchases?

Can different apple IDs in a household home share on the devices and share i tunes/app purchases?

Thanks for the reverse thinking Winston, but the thing is my original apple ID is really old, and correspond to an email service provider I no longer trust in terms of stability, availability of the service or which ever other expression you might want to link to reliability.
This is why when I created my iCloud profile and started using multiple OS and OSX devices I decided to have a different ID. One that will help me take advantage of the Cloud benefits, Apple TV, email sync, iTunes Match and everything else.
Apple support told me there will be no problem setting my iCloud ID as my primary; only that the original would remain associated to the store and the credit card.
(BTW; Let’s just remember apple IDs cannot be merged)
The problem now, however, is that somehow everything has gotten mixed between devices. Until the moment I am writing here and at the same time, I am carrying some instructions from another forum:
    - In all of your devices:
    Sign out from iCloud
    Sign out from iTunes
Sign in to iCloud with your preferred apple ID
Sign in to iTunes with your original (credit card related) apple ID
All of your movies, photos, music and so on, should look the same in all devices.
    I hope this helps someone.
    Cheers!!!

  • We have two Ipod Touches in the Home and two Ipads. Right now one of the Ipads has a separate user indentity. Can both Ipods be used to use the same library with different user ids's and different passwords.

We have two Ipod touches and two Ipads in our home. Right now both Ipods are using the same used id and password to access itunes and sync music. But recently both os us have downloaded the Ibooks segment to our Ipads and now the only way to sync the second Ipad for Ibooks is to use the same used id and password. But the problem is that with our two Ipads in the home, we established two separate used ids and passwords one for each. Is there a way for me to still use the second Ipod touch and the second Ipad with completely separate userids and passwords. In other words to share the music library I have accumulated and yet to sign in each with our separate identities. That way the Ipads can sync and the Ipod touches can sync. Is this possible.

This is to avoid piracy. What could happen is, people could buy music, and give it away for free online. Usually it is then you buy a complete album off iTunes that it will only be available on one device. It is tied to that account, and the device must be registered to that account to listen to it.

  • I want to consolidate all my songs bought under 2-3 different user ids and passwords into one so I can move them into folders and organize my music.  How?   and I do not have any of the old id's or passwords.

I have an older iPod one of the first touch screens.  I bought music under more than one apple id and password.  I got a Macbook last October and I just upgraded my old 3G phone to the new iPhone 5 (16 GB).  All my music is on these devices but I cannot organize it. I tried to move songs into folders on my laptop but they would not go into the folder.  I clicked on them and moved them by holding down the mouse.  I think it is because they are from different accounts.  Or am I moving them incorrectly?  I have already created most of the folders like for Christmas music and workout.  I just want to be able to manage all this.
I am technologically challenged so if you explain something you cannot skip a step.  I am not even sure I picked the correct operating system below.

  • Random application behaviour for different user IDs

    Hi all,
We are testing the standard bank application in ESS. We have made some minor field name and help link modifications in the application through NWDS.
However, the application behaviour is unpredictable. For example, when I log in as user A, i am able to maintain my 'new main bank' and 'new other bank'. Whereas if i log in as user B, i am not able to maintain my 'new other bank' record. i.e. though the 'new other bank' button is active, the system does not take me to the 'edit' page! Similarly, with a few IDs we are able to maintain 3 other bank records, and the records are getting saved correctly in the backend as well. However, for some other IDs
although we can create the other bank record, the records are not getting displayed in the overview page as well as the backend.
We are unable to point out the reason for this random behaviour.
Any pointers to the same will be appreciated.
    TIA.

It is usually recommended to use the same user because of the issues with permissions on the files and folders when using different accounts for installating different components.

  • HT204053 Using multi-user IDS and passwords to access the apps website is turning me into an Apple hater, frankly. Am I alone in the crowd of users?

Ihave abouy 4-5 different user IDS and passwords that I have to juggle to get access to the Apps store. Almost every time I try to get an update, etc., I have to go through the routine of either changing both user ID and password, or just the password. I am a long-time Apple customer but have drifted as far as possible from using Apple updates and purchases. It's just not worth the time, exasperation and energy involved. I can understand that Apple doesn't want to have varied IDs wrapped into a single ID, but it would be helpful if Apple took the time to delete all but one user ID, upon the request of an Apple customer, instead of spending so much time issuing yet another iPad and iPhone. At least, have mercy on some of Apple customers who are still buying snd using laptops and desk tops. HELP!!!

I'm not sure how you came to have so many Apple IDs, but I'd suggest that you simplify things.
I just checked the "Apple ID Support" page:
    http://www.apple.com/support/appleid/
as I imagine you have, too, and I find no instructions for closing or deleting an Apple ID, but you could simplify things quite a bit by using only one Apple ID on all of your devices.
It will take a bit of time, but I think you'll find that it's worth it.
If I were you, I would just delete all purchased apps (if you've purchased music, that's a whole different issue - but you could probably simplify your music purchases, too) from all devices accept one - your most "important" device -  and log out from all other devices. Then log in from those other devices using your preferred Apple ID, and reinstall the apps and other stuff.
It's going to be tedious, and it'll take some time, but I think you'll have a much better experience over the long term.
For one thing, you'd always be notified automatically to update/upgrade your stuff, and your log-ins to do so would be much easier.
I know it's not good news, but I hope it helps.

  • I am getting a message with some songs in my itunes library that has a different user id and says my computer is not authorized to play this song. ***?

Since transferring my iTunes library to a new computer, my library is just a mess.  There are lots of songs that are duplicated 2, 3 and 4 times although all but one of the songs will get a message saying iTunes cannot find the file.  Now I am getting a messages with some songs that shows a different user id for iTunes and wants the password.  I have spent lots of $$$ and time trying to resolve these issues but really want to know what the heck is going on here?

Maybe you purchased some of the other songs using a different itunes account.
    Could this be?

  • Install CRS and RAC with different users

I' m tring to install CRS and RAC with different users.
It is supported but I don't find documentation.
Have someone experience with this configuration ?
My question are related to permission/own of voting and ocr file.
in this configuration is CRS owner or DB owner that run srvctl commands ?
    Thanks !

Yes it is ... check out the RAC FAQ on metalink, and just as Chris metioned the users will need to have the oinstall group as their primary..
"Is it supported to install CRS and RAC as different users.
Yes, CRS and RAC can be installed as different users. The CRS user and the RAC user must both have "oinstall" as their primary group, and the RAC user should be a member of the OSDBA group.

  • Sharing iTunes library across 2 Windows user IDs

My Windows XP computer is set up with 2 user accounts. iTunes is installed and all of my music is stored in my Shared Music folder (this folder is in Shared Documents, which is accessible from each user ID).
I want to be able to use iTunes from either Windows user ID. The problem is that iTunes creates and maintains 2 separate iTunes Music Library.xml files. When I'm logged on (user #1), iTunes uses the xml file in my My Documents folder. When my spouse is logged on (user #2), iTunes uses the xml file in her My Documents folder.
This is problematic. If I add a new song to iTunes from my Windows ID (and the song file is placed in the Shared Music folder), it is added to my library and xml file. If my spouse logs on and launches iTunes, the song is NOT in her iTunes library. She has to manually add the file from the iTunes Add File to Library command.
I'd like iTunes to use a single library that both Windows user IDs can use and maintain. I don't want to have to manually try to keep these in sync.
I can't find any setting in iTunes for this, and the user guide doesn't even mention this topic. Any help is appreciated!!!

    TheMint,
I think it works like this:
The setting you describe is where iTunes will store the music files themselves (.aac or .mp3, etc.) However, iTunes creates an index of all of your music, and it uses that index to display all of your music in iTunes. The index file is called iTunes Library.xml
The index is stored in the My Documents\My Music folder of the user ID you log in as. Apparently, you cannot tell iTunes to store this in a different location.
So if you create an iTunes library under one Windows user ID, the index is created in that user ID's My Documents\My Music folder. If you then log in as another Windows user ID, iTunes does not see the index that was created by the first Windows user. Thus you do not see any of the music listed in iTunes.

  • Sharing music at home; sharing User IDs

My wife and I are faced with a problem of playing music from the iTunes library we have built over the past few years either from CDs or from the Apple iTunes Store.
I recently imported all our Cds into iTunes to save space and allow equal access. Our music now exists on ONE external hard drive. Most music tracks were imported from CDs, and therefore we don't have any restrictions who can play them. But then there is the music that either of us bought before and since married with our different User IDs. This means that music can only be accessed if originally bought by that person and on that authorized Mac.
    So what can we do?
Is homesharing a good option? is it a viable option? Doesn't this require both Macs to be open at the same time to enjoy the music? What happens if I go to work with the music hard drive, and my wife needs to listen to tracks? I'd like to clone our music drive so she can access music in this situation, but it wouldn't allow her to listen to music I bought.
Placing all the music on one hard drive makes it easier to consolidate your library, but only if you can access all the music.
What have couples done in the past? Once married, do they create a 'couples' ID and buy music together for the home? Do you authorize your computers to that new account? And if so, what about the older music bought with older User IDs?
How do people work around the authorization problem as well?
Maybe the solution is to create non DRM versions of all our music and then we might be ok? Is that the only solution?
I'd appreciate any thoughts on this matter.
    M
ps: EULA has destroyed the idea of sharing. Piracy is so much easier with digital files, but knowing that parents can't hand down their music or films etc to their kids is very sad.

You seem to be making quite a few incorrect assumptions in your post.
    MarcusOne wrote:

Why do you think it means that? (it doesn't)
    So what can we do?
Keep the music on a hard drive at home.
Is homesharing a good option? is it a viable option? Doesn't this require both Macs to be open at the same time to enjoy the music?
    Yes.
What happens if I go to work with the music hard drive, and my wife needs to listen to tracks?
"The hard drive"? As in a single hard drive? Don't you each have hard drives on own computers? She can listen to all the tracks in her library.
I'd like to clone our music drive so she can access music in this situation, but it wouldn't allow her to listen to music I bought.
Why do you think this? iTunes purchases have been DRM free for almost 5 years.
And even with DRM, just authorize the computer for each others account (which is automatically done when you enable Home Sharing).
What have couples done in the past? Once married, do they create a 'couples' ID and buy music together for the home?
Personally, I would not recommend it. Keep the accounts you have. No sense in tossing another into the mix.
And if so, what about the older music bought with older User IDs?
    Just play it.
but knowing that parents can't hand down their music or films etc to their kids is very sad.
    Why can't they?
