Different Versions, Same Web Help File

Good Moring.
I've found a topic which applies to this, however I'm having
no joy in implementing it - thus a new Topic.
Again I have a project with 500+ topics. Now I have
sucessfully created documentation for each Dept. eg Finance,
Operations etc...ising the
Topic Summary I want to simultaneously generate a version for
each conditional build tag, and the SSL. However if I choose
Finance, and go through the same procedure I'm ending up with a
Helpfile showing ALL the Departments on the Title page, but none of
the 'Buttons' work, and the Topic list is also missing. However
doing the same with no SSL obviosly I get the Web version complete.
Now a while ago I managed to create a version for each Dept,
so that if you changed the "Master" then the changes would be
applied to all the Deptments, but you'd still have the Departmantal
versions.
Also - say you had a page with buttons for all the
Departments, and you did a Finance version only that 'button would
be changed
Now I know I should've scribbled down how I did it, but I
didn't and I'm sure I found a topic that explained exactly 'How To"
, I can't find it on Peter G's website either.
So could someone out there point me in the right direction?
Thanks
Al.

OK - one of the probs was that I needed to re-do all the
Conditional Build tags. Now I've done that only the dept required
is being built. So that's one prob fixed.
Now I can compile each Dept. into separate folders eg.
C:\facilities, c:\security etc etc.
It's not really a Windows 'security' issue.
What i want to be able to do is have a parent/child situation
(lets call all the Depts a child section, and the parent is the
Main build ie with everything ie the entire project.
Now it works fine if it's all split up into separate folders,
however now we run into the situation where if I change something
in the Parent, this won't be carried down the chain to the "child'
versions as they're in their own folders, thus effectively separate
stand-alone projects Not really what I want, as I'll have to change
each one in turn, and you can't compile them into the same folder,
even if I rename each 'title'html file RH seems to over write it...
Here's the general idea:
So the "Master Dept" screen has a row of buttons that looks
like:
Book/Topic A - for Engineering
Book/Topic B - for IT
Book/Topic C - for Marketing
Book/Topic D - for Inventory
Now, if we have a Group of Users, let's take Marketing, when
they go to that particular
'page', the only button they'll have available (and shown) is
the button for:
Book/Topic C - for Marketing
The IT Dept might have:
Book/Topic A - for Engineering
Book/Topic B - for IT
Book/Topic D - for Inventory
Here the button for Marketing is not displayed, but there is
a 'blank' line between B & D.
I'm sure I'm missing something obvious!

  • Questions on LDAP Realm on different versions of Web Logic

    Kaia,
I need you to ask JOS / BEA Systems some questions on LDAP
Integration. I have CC'd Randy and Todd in case they have any
feedback on this area. I have read the documentation and have
    a
couple of simple questions. The questions differ depending on
the version (because the documentation is different):
    4.5 SP7
Users and groups are cached in the WebLogic Server as Enterprise
Java Beans. This reduces the frequency of LDAP lookups
Exactly what is cached? Is authentication carried out against
the Directory each time, or against the cached credentials? Is
this configurable such that an authentication attempt is sent to
the LDAP server each time? Just a suggestion - LDAP lookups are
very "light" and caching them in this fashion is not a good
idea. Let the LDAP Directory do the caching.
The "system" user must be defined in the weblogic.properties
file and in your LDAP server. The LDAP "system" user must be a
member of the LDAP group that has administrative privileges in
    the LDAP server
Does this really mean that the user ID in the LDAP server
called "system" needs to have full control over the entire
    directory??
In the WebLogic property file realm, the "everyone" group
automatically includes all users. You must create an "everyone"
group and add every WebLogic Server user to its membership list,
including the "guest" and "system" users.
Does this really mean that I need to create a group in the LDAP
directory called "Everyone" and keep it updated with every user
object in the Directory that we want to authorize using weblogic
    ACL's?
    5.1 Pre SP7
    The property:
    weblogic.security.ldaprealm.userAuthentication
The description for this in the docs is:
This property determines the method for authenticating users. If
you set the property to local (appropriate for Netscape and
Microsoft servers), LDAPRealm retrieves user data, including
password, from the LDAP server and checks the password in
WebLogic Server. If you set the value to external (appropriate
for Novell NDS), LDAPRealm authenticates a user by attempting to
bind to the LDAP server with the username and password supplied
by the WebLogic client. If you use external authentication, you
    must also use SSL
The way I read this is that if you have local set, the Weblogic
Server retrieves the entire user credentials from the LDAP
Directory, and compares the password with what the user passes
in. If you have external set, weblogic does a bind on your
behalf - however, you need to have SSL configured for this
    option to be implemented.
However, in the example for an NDS server, the following is
    listed:
    weblogic.security.ldaprealm.userAuthentication=bind
What is the bind option referring to?
    5.1 SP 7
This version makes no reference whatsoever to the
userAuthentication property above. Has it disappeared? What is
    the authentication method used now?
    6.0
    The documentation below:
Table 12-10 LDAP Security Realm Fields on the Users Tab
    Field
    Description
    User Authentication
Determines the method for authenticating Users. Set this field
to one of the following values:
Local specifies that the LDAP Security realm retrieves user
data, including the password from the LDAP Directory server, and
checks the password in WebLogic Server. The Local setting is
appropriate for Netscape Directory Server and Microsoft Site
    Server.
External specifies that the LDAP Security realm authenticates a
User by attempting to bind to the LDAP Directory server with the
username and password supplied by the WebLogic Server client. If
you choose the External setting, you must also use the SSL
protocol. The External setting is appropriate for Novell NDS.
    Bind
Note that there is a reference to Bind, but no description for
what it is supposed to do. So, what is it supposed to do. Also
a follow up question - This field is not referenced in
documentation for 5.1 SP7, so I was curious as to whether this
will also be dropped in future service packs under 6.0, and if
so, what the authentication process will then be.
    regards,
    Craig Gilmour

CC 2014 should be the latest version.  You can uninstall any others if you choose to.

  • Do favorites in the Favorites pane persist in different versions of Help?

A simple question here, but I couldn't find it in Help. When users use a new version of a Help file and click the Favorites tab, will their favorites from the previous version of Help display? Or will they have to re-add those topics to the Favorites pane?

    Hi all
Colum is spot on with this. The Microsoft Windows CHM viewer stores favorites information in a small file on the system. The file name is HH.dat and contains other information than simply favorites. Window size and placement and which tab was open when you closed the CHM file. The HH.dat file is a central repository for this information for ALL CHM files you open and use on your system. It's not specifically matched to a single CHM file.
    Hopefully this helps... Rick

We have developed a desktop application using Flash software and published the same for MAC environment. When we double click on the index.app file, the application is working perfectly in Mac 10.6.7 at our office. But if the same index.app file is double clicked in Mac 10.6.7 at out clients location, its not opening. For your information the client is able to open this same application by double clicking on index.swf file. The main problem is that client is not able to open the application using index.app file at their office whereas we are able to do so at our office. Can anyone give some suggestions to sort this problem?

The most common reason is different versions of Flash, or different versions of web browsers used.  Some users may elect to not have Flash installed at all because of the processor overhead of Flash.  If you are going to make an application for a client, check what operating system and browser versions they are using first.  Then determine if a stand alone application is required, or if they have the necessary plugins to run specific browser enhanced code.
P.S. MAC is an acronym for Media Access Control.  Mac is the shorthand for Macintosh, the operating system and computers made by Apple Inc.

  • Specifying the version of dependent jar file?

    Hi all
At the moment I am fighting with some class loading issues in a J2EE Appcontainer... Acutally the app server uses a different version of a jar file than my application.. Now the classloader always uses
the already loaded classes of the AppServers jar Version instead of those that I want..
I have my application together with the dependent jar packaged together into one jar file... In the manifest I lsit the dependency...
Now my question is if its possible to explicitly state the version of the package that my jar is dependent of...
    Any help would be appreciated
    regards
    tom

    Vijay
Acutally I just read through the thread. Actually what I am working on is an J2EE App Containing a couple of EJB (2.0) components in different jars, some utility jars and 2 Wars. All this is packaged together into an ear.
Now Actually the basic structure is like:
    Ear
    --> WAR1
--> webinf containing classes and manifest with dependent jars
    --> War2
    --> EJB Jar
--> metinf containing deployment desc and manifest where the manifest references JDom-b10.jar on the classpath
    --> Also conatiner JDom-b10.jar
Acutally the JDom.jar is already loaded by the Application Server (Jboss 3.2.3) in its bootstrap loader... I need to have the b10 as otherwise some other 3rd Party stuff of the Ejb is not running...
Now I expected the classloader to prefer the direct deployment unit against all parents and delegating loader... but it doesnt:
    15:17:04,011 INFO [STDOUT]
    org.jdom.Document(1bb8ea).ClassLoader=org.jboss.system.server.NoAnnotationURLClassLoader@e3b895

    ....file:/C:/Entwicklungstools/j2sdk_1.4.2_03/jre/lib/ext/localedata.jar
    ....file:/C:/Entwicklungstools/j2sdk_1.4.2_03/jre/lib/ext/sunjce_provider.jar
    ++++CodeSource: (file:/C:/Entwicklungstools/jboss-3.2.3_tomcat-4.1.24/lib/jdom.jar <no certificates>)
    Implemented Interfaces:
    ++interface java.io.Serializable(f62373)
    ++++ClassLoader: null
    ++++Null CodeSource
    ++interface java.lang.Cloneable(13e8d89)
    ++++ClassLoader: null
    ++++Null CodeSource
This above is a small JBoss utility acutally printing out the watched URLs of the CL and the Codesource of a class... .. Now actually the classloader shouldn't use the Jdom.jar mentioned as source but the one listed here:
15:16:24,308 INFO [EJBDeployer] nested deployment: file:/C:/Entwicklungstools/jboss-3.2.3_tomcat-4.1.24/server/tebs/tmp/deploy/tmp27652tebs-0.1-SNAPSHOT.e
    ar-contents/tebs-migration-0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar-contents/jdom-b10.jar
Actually I think the problem is pretty close to the thread you mentioned before... AFAIK the classloaders in J2EE Containers have to prefer the direct deployment unit (in this case the jar and its content) to any other parent class loaders files... I also thought that there can be mulitple versions of a class file in one VM an that the appserver has to preserve every app from using a class of another app... So that there is some housing principles....
As I could not figure out how to solve this I came to the question regarding versioning... As both JDom.jars contain version information this would solve my probem... But as you already mentioned AFAIK there is only support to give some verision informationen about a jar in the manifest but nothing mentions that you can explicitely request a specific version.
So If anyone has a clou how I get that crapp working I would be very thankful
    Tom

  • Problem Generating Web Help - Robohelp 8

I'm using the Robohelp 8 demo, and am experiencing the
    following two problems:
I've created a help file consisting of multiple, although
small Word documents. The images show up fine in Robohelp, but as
soon as I generate the web help file, the images do not display.
    They are standard .jpeg format.
I'm also noticing that the font, while Ariel in Robohelp,
turns to Times New Roman in the outputted file.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

This must have something to do with my using multiple
documents. I just tried it again, with only one of the documents
    and everything generated fine.

    Hello again Ariane
When you look at the RoboHelp HTML interface you find different pods. One is named Project Manager and the one normally below it is called Single Source Layouts.
Each of the layouts listed inside this pod will create a specific type of output. I consider these to be very similar to "recipes". Each layout simply contains parameters that govern the way that layout is made.

  • Help File Won't Update

I am having a problem in getting an updated help file to show up in the program execution. The help file is <program_help/index.html>, and shows up correctly in both the Resources and Products Groups in XCode. That is, after modifying only some text in the index.html file the modified index.html correctly appears in the XCode editor. The path to the index.html file is (correctly) unchanged in the Groups & Files list. The info.plist also remains unchanged.
After a clean/rebuild, the correct modified <program_help/index.html> is located in the Contents folder of <build/Release/program>. However, when program is launched, either within XCode or in the Finder, the Help file accessed via the Help menu has not been updated, i.e., the older unmodified version of the index.html file is displayed from within the program.
I am obviously missing something - any suggestions will be appreciated.

I agree that it is probably a cached file somewhere. I have not been able to find it, though. I have trashed the ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.helpui folder and any other files I've found that reference the program in ~/Library - but the wrong help file still keeps turning up.
I've even tried to explicitly modify the com.apple.helpui/TOCCache.plist entry for the program with the pathname to the correct help file, but as soon as I call the help file in the program the TOCCache.plist file entry reverts to the the old version of the help file in an earlier version of the program.
I doubt that any of these exercises should be necessary, though. There must be some setting in XCode that should take care of getting the correct reference for the help file. I've looked and can not find anything at this point.
One step I will eventually take is to remove all possible sources of the old help file and then see what happens.

  • HTML help file showing garbage value for french language

I want to show Help/Tips in my Java application.
The required help file is simple an HTML file which I am showing on a JPopupMenu using JHelpContentViewer editor. The problem is when I want to show this in Fench language a particular character is displaying garbage value.
But I open the same HTML help file in a browser (i.e internet explorer..) its showing me the correct value..
I am using VM1.4.2 and operating system is Win2000.

Did you specify the correct encoding?

  • Did the Help Files Change?

I have Flash 8 at work. But I was looking something up in the
AS3 LiveDocs online and noticed that every class entry now has a
little dropdown button to show/hide inherited properties, methods,
    events.
I'm pretty sure this wasn't in the built in help files when I
started using AS3. I remember looking at the the MovieClip class
and that it only had, play(), stop() and the goto versions of
those. And thinking, "Not much you can do with a MovieClip if you
    follow these help files!"
So first question, have those always been there and I just
    missed them?
Next question, did those get added to help files with the
    9.0.2 (or whatever) update?
Final question, how awesome and helpful will that be? (Okay
that is more of a statement!)

To my recollection, it's always been there since I've had
CS3. The AS2 version in the help files don't have that, but the AS3
version does :) Yea, I think its awesome, you can go right to
methods properties or even constructor in some cases.

  • Does LR2 Include a "Real" help file?

I am woriking with the trial versionof LR2, and one of the problems is that there seems to be no resident version of a help file.
Two problems with this. First, getting bounced to a Q&A forum is a VERY inefficient way to answer my routine questions. Second, my main photoediting computer is not connected routinely to the internet--So in effect I have no help file at all.
Am I missing something really simple? Is this an issue related only to the trial version, i.e. will I get a real help file when I complete a purchase? Or is this sorry state of affairs something I'll have to live with if I stay with LR2?

    > Well, I can understand you desire to keep you work computer off

    > as important. I don't think a help fill that refers to Lightroom

    > even via online in my book is a good thing.
Say what? A help file doesn't change (significantly) during the life of a product. When I download version 1.4.1 I expect a properly documented program to include a proper help file. When I download Version 2.0 it should come with a NEW help file that is good (with hopefully minor corrections) until version 2.1, etc.
If software is being properly designed, specified, and documented, you should be able to write 99.8% of the help file even before the coding is complete. There is no excuse for shortcutting the help file other than not employing enough technical writers.
I am used to Microsoft saying "If you don't like it, lump it", but it is a new experience from Adobe.
Even the online help is pretty lame. No wonder it is "expected" that I have to go to a discussion forum to get real answers. This might be hard for the techno-geeks to understnad, but I don't want to join an online community, I JUST want a photoediting program!

    David,
This is not a supported configuration.
However, here are the instructions for
doing so, but you may get sharing errors:
    1. Exit JDeveloper if running.
    2. Map a drive letter to our network location Example: net use s: \\ABC-Shared\JDevDocs
    3. Edit your jdeveloper.ini (or jayva.tmp if jdev hasn't run yet) located in the [JDeveloper]\bin

  • Using an InCopy package with different versions of the same InDesign file

    Hi,
I head up the studio for a London based design agency. We are looking into using InCopy with one of our clients (who will be off-site). In particular this will be working on Annual Reports.
As an example the issue I am coming up against is the following:
So far I imagine that we would have our InDesign file and create an InCopy package of all the stories to send to our client. With the content size of these type of documents it may be several days before we receive anything back. In the time between it is inevitable that we will need to carry out design changes. With our current workflow this would involve saving a new version of the InDesign file. When we receive the original InCopy package back from our client we may be working on a version 1..2..3,etc of the InDdesign layout. BUT the InCopy package wants to link to the original file we made the InCopy package from. Is there a way to link the InCopy package into our new InDesign file.
    Many Thanks

You could try renaming the new file with the old name but I don't think
that's that's going to be a recipe for success.
Other than that, you're using a very dangerous workflow. Everything here
is designed to revolve around a single InDesign file with however many
    assignments or packages there are.
