Different volume after every startup Windows 8

Hi,
Lenovo U310 - i5 - 4GB - 32 GB SSD - 500GB HD - Creative X-FI surround 5.1 - upgraded from W7 to W8 pro
I expect at startup that the volume of my soundcard will have the same value since the last shutdown.
However, everytime I start this laptop (Windows 8) the volume shows a totally different value!
Does anybody know the reason of this, and better, how to prevent this?

Thx for the response.
I know the X-FI causes this problem (I would add 'of course' ) that's why I added this unit to the list of hardware I'm using.
But Creative is very vague about this issue so maybe the Lenovo community can hand me some hints?
Since I upgraded the U310 from Windows 7 Home premium to Windows 8 pro I'm not sure how the volume behaved during W7.

I just bought a new Toshiba laptop yesterday, and it is equipped with Windows 8. I have Pandora running on it currently, and whenever a new song begins, the speakers return to some default volume which is too loud for my office. How do I get
the volume to stay at the level I set it at, even when a new song plays?

I play Pandora all the time in IE11 on Windows 8.1 (right now, in fact). It doesn't return to default volume after every song here. I doubt that Pandora's web programming is causing it, at least not directly, or everyone would be seeing
it. You should not expect it to do so.
Edit: I play it via the Desktop IE11. I didn't think to mention it. Is that how you're running it, or are you using the Metro / Modern interface? Try it on the desktop if that's not where you're running it and see if the
behavior is different. Perhaps it's just another problem with the toy interface.

Show different content after every 5th web app listing

I have a web app that list products. I would like to show different content after 5th item from the web app.
So, it might look something like this.

You can only do that with javascript, Say you had a hidden contentholder with the add on it. You could use jQuery for example, store the .html() into a variable and then every nth-item (4th) you could .insertAfter()

"MerpAD RDC" file in Trash "Recovered Files" after every startup.

Does anyone know what this "MerpAD RDC" file is? It shows up in the Recovered Files in my Trash every time I reboot / startup. It's not causing any trouble, just curious as to what it is.

I have the same issue. I don't seem to see it everytime, but almost. I am going to try to keep better track of it. I have seen several different files show up here. Mostly this one.

Error message after every startup

Every time after turning on my iMac, I get the "Error"-Message:

Which is in English:
You switched off your computer due to a problem.
If you want to open the Apps, that were open before switching-off, click "Open" (Öffnen)
Otherwise the login will continue in XX seconds.
I should emphasize, that all is working fine – but the message is a little bit boring.
Does anybody has an idea, what pref(s) keep(s) the false information and can be trashed without causing any bad consequences?

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.

Windows Search / ESENT errors after every reboot

I recently noticed that after every restart, windows search is rebuilding the search index. Looking in the event viewer, it would appear that I have an issue with ESENT attempting to open a log file which does not exist.
There are multiple entries in the event log, which are sequentially listed and as follows:
(the first log entry source is from ESENT, all subsequent ones from Search)
Windows (3236) Windows: Error -1811 occurred while opening logfile C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows\MSS001DF.log.
The Windows Search Service cannot open the Jet property store.

***UPDATE***
I would like to inform persons viewing this post, that it seems I was able to find the cause of this issue.
Being a long-time user of Piriform CCleaner, it appears one of the recent updates changed or added an item labled "MS Search" under 'Applications' > 'Windows'.
Upon unchecking this option in the settings of CCleaner, I am no longer experiencing the symptoms posted above.

Every Startup Firmware Update...

I updated my OS last night (10.4.10), and now after every startup the SuperDrive Firmware updarter runs. It eventually says there is no drives to update, but i just wish it wouldnt have to pop up a window every startup that i have to click. Just a little tweak that kinda annoys me. Anyone know how to fix this

First boot from elsewhere, e.g. your Install CD, and run Disk Utility's Repair Disk for the internal drive. Boot on the internal drive. Download and (re-)run the Mac OS 10.4.10 Combo Updater for Intel. Run Disk Utility Repair Permissions. At worst the Combo will change nothing, but it might replace whatever is causing that 'glitch'. Be sure not to use your Mac while the Installer is running.

Windows 8.1 resets startup disk to itself after every update

Hello,
I'm on a late 2014 Macbook Pro 15" retina, running bootcamp with Yosemite on one partition and Windows 8.1 on the other. I prefer OSX as my default startup disk, but every time Windows updates it resets the default startup disk to Windows. Of course I can change it manually, but this gets tedious. Does anyone know a fix for this? Any help would be appreciated.

You have screwed up your system and you're blaming the crashes on someone else. You need to stop thinking it's someone else's problem. Keeping your system healthy is your responsibility.
There is NO upgrade path from preview/evaluation copies to the released versions, anyway, so it really doesn't matter. You have to reinstall
something.
You could reinstall 8.0 and upgrade, or you could get an 8.1 disc and put that in as a fresh install (more expensive, but my recommendation), or you could see if maybe this can help you:

All Network Volumes set as Login Items open in Finder on EVERY startup

...after updating to 10.5.8
I have a Mac running on an otherwise all PC network. Before updating to 10.5.8 I had 5 network volumes set to "connect" on startup automatically (System Prefs / Accounts / Login Items). This worked perfectly and connected to these volumes silently without me having to ever worry about it. I didn't even have to check the "Hide" boxes.
After updating to 10.5.8 however, it became completely annoying. Now it still connects to these volumes, but opens up every single one in Finder upon every startup. That's 5 windows I have to close every time I startup my computer. It may not sound like the worst thing in the world, but mind you I have to log out and back in every day for work. Even checking the "Hide" checkboxes don't do anything.
Anybody experiencing the same problem? Anybody know a workaround or fix? My company has a rather large and complex network so staying connected to certain folders that I use is a must. Thanks.

Then I made a script and saved it as an application. I then put that application in my Login Items (System Prefs / Accounts / Login Items).
If you're having trouble finding the mount volume (or server) address, here's how you can find it: If you are currently connected to the volume(s) that you want to use, left-click it and hit Cmd+I (or right-click, Get Info). Use the address next to "Server:" - That's it!
Hopefully Apple will fix this bug soon so people don't have to make AppleScripts just to make the OS work correctly.
I wouldn't bet on it for leopard. leopard development has stopped now after snow leopard has been released. historically, Apple only releases security patches for old OS versions once a new one comes out. Interestingly, this bug is present in snow leopard too! or maybe they don't consider it a bug and this is how it should work. one can make a case for this, I guess.

Chkdsk run every time I startup Windows Vista under Bootcamp in 10.6

I have Windows Vista 32 bits installed on bootcamp partition and it work fine in 10.5.
Now I have upgrade my MBP (early 2008) to Snow Leopard, and upgrade WIndows Bootcamp drivers to version 3.0 from Snow Leopard DVD. Both installation were completed and run fine.
The problem I have now is: Whenever I used Mac OS, shut down, then restart the WIndows Vista by pressing Option key at Macbook Pro startup, Chkdsk will run evry time, checking integrity of the Windows boot partition. I have to wait for more than 20 minutes before Chkdsk fix all errors, then reboot, and press Options key to get back into WIndows Vista without Chkdsk running.
When I shut down Windows, and restart without goinb into Snow Leoprad, the boot process go OK without Chkdsk running.
But whenever I shut fown Winodws and use Snow Leopard, then get back in to startup Windows, Chdsk run again. This is very annoyingm, and never occured in 10.5
During Chkdsk session, the following errors occured and being fixed:
Deleting index entry ._501 in index $I30 of file 9028
Deleting index entry 501 in index $I30 of file 9028
and after all process finished, Chkdsk stated that: There is a blank space that allocated as used, and has been fixed.
Can any friend advise me what cause this problem? and How to correct it?
I understanfd that the ._501 is in .Trashes folder on Windows partiton. It must be altered wwhen I use Snow Leopard, and must have to do with Trash in Mac OSX 10.6.

The problem is repeatable. The same index and file to be deleted by Chkdsk remain unchanged every time I boot Windows under bootcamp after using Mac OS. If I reboot Windows many many times without using Mac OS, the error never occur.
It must be Mac OSX Snow Leopard that is the culprit. Can any friend give me solution of how to solve this problem?

Having problems us ng my ipod 7g Nike Fitness. When running when I press the button between the volume buttons, I get a different action almost every time.

I am having problems using my ipod 7g with Nike Fitness. When running when I press the button between the volume buttons, I get a different action almost every time. And usually I end up either turrning volume up very high or ending the workout. I need to be able to pause workout, and get spoken feedback regarding time, distance, and pace, that's all. I'm using a Griffin brand armband, that covers all of the buttons. I've read the online manual. no help. I'm just about ready to return it and go back to my 5th gen with its smaller song capacity and no blurry. Any help or suggestions very welcome.

I have had both good and bad experiences with Acronis True Image. I got the recent copy of ATI via a Newegg.com bundle. I haven't tried it yet on any Windows 7 editing systems. ATI installs some services that I would rather not have running in the background.
What made you change from ATI to ShadowProtect Desktop Edition?
Are you running Windows 7?
What do you see as advantages to running ShadowProtect Desktop Edition as opposed to Acronis True Image?

Which firmware your N8 having now? You can check firmware by choosing Call, then type *#0000#.
My N8 works fine on security setting and able to define Phone auto lock period, by choosing Menu>Settings>Phone>Phone management>Security settings>Phone and SIM card>Phone auto lock period>User defined>Lock after(minutes)
You will prompt to enter Lock code each time u define auto lock priod or enable/disable auto lock.

ITunes no longer loads after updating to Windows 8.1. I have tried every corrective step I've found on the web (reinstall, copy files, change permissions, etc.) nothing helps. Has anyone heard if Apple is working on fix?

Itunes does not launch after updating to Windows 8.1. I've tried every suggestion I can find on web (reinstall, copy files from other directories, change permissions, etc.). Nothing works. At best I can get the licensing agreement to show and then nothing. Has anyone heard if a fix is in the works?
