I'm using iWeb '08. I have set up several blog pages and want to allow people to update them outside of iWeb. Is there a way to accomplish this?

No. iWeb is required to make new entries (but not for comments of course).

You can also use an IFRAME inside a Portlet to "include" an external URL within
a Portlet page.
I have attached an example of doing this (content.jsp for the portlet uses an
IFRAME to include www.google.com).

look at the portal wizard that can create portlets to talk to web services. The
same wizard will also help convering remote

This will involve some amount of redesign since you're converint a regular web
site into a portal (the domain/portal wizards will help you do this). You'll then
need to create a new portal app, and convert those web apps into portlets, and
add these portlets to the new portal app.

It is impossible to answer this question is a general way, it all depends on
what the other web application is doing. If it is just returning static HTML
then a home-grown solution (scrape taglib / IFRAME) and some URL rewriting
will suffice. If the remote application requires authentication, uses SSL,
cookies, Javascript, displays pop-ups etc. then things can get complicated
extremely quickly. At that point you probably need to use a 3rd-party web
scraping engine (Kapow for example. Peter Laird posted a list of many
others.)
There are network throughput, single sign-on, and performance issues to
consider. Obviously the most performant solution entails converting your
exisitng WLS application into a Portal application, by refactoring its JSPs,
deploying its EJBs etc. Alternatively making remote calls into your business
objects (EJBs) or deploying WebServices to extract the DATA from the remote
application independent of the presentation may be an option for well
architected applications.
So, sorry, I'm afraid it is very hard to generalize these things into much
more than a list of issues that you should consider as you work through the
possible solutions.
FYI: IFRAME is supported by IE 5+ and Netscape 6.x:

Hi,
We had this scenario where we had a separate ERP system and a standalone CRPXRPM system. The replication was done via ALE.
The report RHALEINI (T-Code - PFAL) was used to move the HR Master data to the cProjects sytem.
The BPs are created with 'Employee' role. Not very sure, but I think its BUP0003. However, you need to maintain these BPs in the 'Resource' role if you want to maintain their cost/revenue rates.
We used the field 'BP Type' to differentiate external employees.

Different ways to create content in dreamweaver

So Its been a while since I used Dreamweaver, and from what I remember, there was a way for me to "draw" a box on a page, and then I could put text , images or anything else I needed on the page. It probably wasn't the most professional way to create a page, but it worked for me. Now that I have CS5.5, I can't seem to figure out how I did that.
The reason why I did it this way was because I knew where everything was going to be once I published the page. It was almost like creating content in a DTP, you drew a box and either put text or images....anyway, if anyone knows what I'm refering to, and I can still do this in 5.5, please let me know.....

APDiv Layers are gone and for good reason. They lulled inexperienced users into a false sense of power & security that everything was lining up correctly for all users, displays and browsers. Actually this was the worst possible way to design for the web. You can read why below.

Fast forward to today where everyone uses different sized devices: mobile, tablets, desktops, and APDivs won't work.
Best advice, use the CSS starter pages. Go to File > New > Blank page> HTML and pick a layout from the 3rd panel. Hit Create button. Add your own text, images and backgrounds. Much better than APDiv Layers.

I am a new bie to java programming. I know the way to create an object for a class will be something like
A b = new A(); // A is the class name and b is the object name.
But i am not sure what the following code means, I know it is also creating an object but how and why in that manner.

A b = (A) c;
If b is the object name, then what is c here?Can anyone please explain me in detail.
Also,

Why should we give in the above manner? what does it mean?

Why should we give in the above manner? what does it mean?It's known as programming to the interface. On the LHS, you're saying that pageList must point to an object that implements List. You don't cae if it's an ArrayList or LinkedList or something else. It's a way to decouple your code from the specific implementations of the types it uses.

Drag multiple photos to create many blog entries at once?

I wanted to make many blog entries at once from some photos. This is trying to catch up with many entries at once, and make basically photo pages with one photo and more than just a caption (like you get with a photo page).
I did this by the usual method when I first tried iweb (try something, it works...). Then I noticed that it just assigned today's date to all the entries. I didn't want that, so I deleted all of them. Then I found out you could edit the dates...
Now, I want to recreate all those entries again, and I can't for the life of me repeat that initial 'try it, it works' of just making many blog entries all at the same time. I can't remember if it was a drag in, or what...
help!
Doesn't help that iweb goes to SBOD when I first open the media browser for 10 min...

I have not tried this myself, so I'm not sure if this is what you did....but try this...
In iPhoto, select all the photos (Apple-click to select multiple photos) that you want to send to your blog pages. Then do you see the iWeb icon at the bottom of the iPhoto window there??? Click on it and select "publish to photoblog". See if this is what you were looking for...

A different way to create a new object?

Hi all!
I have an array of type Object were I'm inserting different data types (String,Integer and so on..) now I want to go over this array and I want to create
a new object that is not(!) a clone of the object in a given position but is the same type (the downcasted type)
I want to implement it in a single command but not in series of if (.. instance of ..)
The new value should be inserted into an array of Object too so I assume it will implicitly downcast it automatically.
how can I do that? I hope you understand the problem..

As an aside, you could use a Map<String, InstructionBuilder>(), but you'd be getting into some serious class bloat for what I presume is a relatively small, simple app. You could also probably hack up something with reflection, but that's probably out-of-bounds with your requirements as well.

Creating Wordpress blog entries with Safari 3 loses carriage returns

Hi all,
Ever since I started using Safari on Leopard, I've been losing all my carriage returns in my Wordpress entries. I don't know what's causing it, but Safari for Tiger, and Firefox 2.0.0.8 running on Tiger, Leopard, and Windows XP don't cause this to happen.
Anyone have a clue as to why this is happening? The carriage returns are apparently getting erased somehow because where there should be a <p />, there's instead no space between the last period of a sentence and the first letter of the next.

And not the only one! (cookies, crashes)
With the safari troubles I am now using camino more and more often. If it did copy formated text properly it would now be my first choice.
However I do like safiris search/find a lot!!

Photos on blogs entries

I've successfully created many blog entries. I always use the standard new blog entry and put a photo in it. Twice, I have gone back after publishing and changed the photo on the blog entry page. After I publish though, the main blog page never updates with the new photo. As a result, two of my entry pages out of about a total of 30 have a different photo then what appears on the main blog page. Is there a way to correct this?

The photo on a blog page is dropped into a placeholder. When you changed the photo you probably deleted it and dragged in a new one. By doing this you deleted the placeholder.
Go to another "correct" blog page, highlight the photo in the placeholder, copy it and paste it to the page you are trying to repair. Now you have a placeholder and can drag a new photo in to replace the one that's there.

Blog entries on my web site don't show, error message

Hi everyone,
I'm fully aware that my question may be off topic since it is possible that my problem has to do with my internet provider rather than with iWeb. If so, I would like to apologise.
Now this is what is puzzling me. I made my first web site using iWeb, and it looks pretty promising. When I click on the index file, my browser starts and shows me that everything works. I even managed to publish the site to a folder and to send the files via FTP to my provider. Everything seems to work just fine, all the pages show up, except for one thing - the blog page. What happens is this - online with my browser, I can see the blog overview with the first ten lines of each article. However, when I click on one of the blog entries to see the whole thing, I get a 404 error message telling me that the requested URL was not found on the server. But the files are there! Is there a way to "link" the blog entry files with the overview again? Or should I talk to my provider?

Okay, I did some more research (which I should have done beforehand, I know, so sorry for bothering), and it turns out that my problem has indeed to do with my provider. Obviously, iWeb creates file and folder names with german umlaut characters (for instance, "Einträge", which means "entries"). This resulted in conflicts with file name restrictions on the server - something whether Apple nor my provider told me about in the first place. I'm pretty disappointed about this. Anyway, the server could not correctly link to files which were there, but included characters the server did not want to understand.
The solution: A guy from switzerland has written a little app called iWeb Translator, which does the nasty job of translating "the whole iWeb-Site to match the provider's constraints". Want to create private blogs / diaries for clients

Hi all - I am looking for the fastest, most effective way to create private blog (diary) areas for my site's readers.
In the distant past, I handcrafted an extensive diary and note system, but today, there are two problems. The first is that compared to what is offered today, it looks like an antique, and two, I want to minimize stress for the people who run CF and SQL servers and make sure I create the most secure system possible.
I want people to create an account that includes a private "note/blog" area. Their entries can be seen sequentially by, at least, date. It would be nice to search the entries by key words, however, I'm OK with keeping things simple.
I wouldn't mind using something like a very stripped down CMS like, for example, WordPress. The issue is that I anticipate making thousands of diaries. So I'm more concerned with the CMS than WordPress itself and all of its themes.
I am aware of FCKeditor and fooled around a bit with it 10 years ago. Possibly that is all I need to concentrate on. If you recommend that, do you know of a CF group/people who are expert in it? I have the skill to craft my own and currently, no budget for outside programmers (wish this was not true), but would consider buying a module including an enrollment system already done except for final hookups.
Last, I'm aware of forum creation services. I use WebsiteToolbox for one of my sites, for example. Does anyone know of any service that could create multiple "personal" topic streams?

Rearrange Blog Entries

Hey Folks,
I'm putting together a faux blog as a companion to a novel I just finished. Each blog entry references a chapter in the book. After creating the second blog entry, I realized that on the main blog page the last entry would show up as the FIRST entry on that page, thus giving away the ending of my book!
Is there to a way to rearrange the blog entry pages?

Blog entry without photo

Is there an easy way to add a blog entry without a photo? It defaults to the page with the photo. I deleted the photo, but then the text remains in the same place with a large blank space between the top of the page and the text. This seems cumbersome to add a simple text-only entry.
iMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.4)

When I delete a photo from the entry page I would like the text at the "main blog page" to use the whole width of the entry. Instead is a big white hole where the photo should have been and the text is still formatted to the right or left of the empty photo holder. Any way to get around this?

How do I create my own personal blog site?
I looked into getting a .mac account and then saw that Apple wanted OVER $100 for it! Screw that! Why does Apple charge an arm and leg for EVERYTHING!?!? Many of these things can be done FOR FREE if using
browsers other than Safari.
Why are they always sooo over-the-top? I guess that's just a retorical question.
Does anyone know of an easy way to create a blog site that is compatible with Safari? Love to have .Mac account but I just can't justify $100.

iWeb (part of iLife 06) will create blogs that can be hosted on any web server (i.e. the free web space you get with your ISP.)Admittedly readers can't post comments unless you've got a .mac account by default but there is a work around in the form of iComment.

Creating a Blog Archive vs Sidebar

I've searched and found some previous articles but the resource links have recently been deleted.
We have a blog with 200+ articles. The gentleman who controls the blog creates new tags each post. Therefore we have 175+ tags listed. I wouldn't mind these being included in our sidebar but not 175+ of them.
Therefore, I've been trying to find a workaround to create an Archive page like you would find with Wordpress. I created a page outside of the blog module using the correct tag syntax - no luck. I tried creating a blog post and adding the correct syntax to pull all tags - no luck.
Is there a way to create a blog archive page where I can list all the tags and the previous X-number of recent posts?

You have tags to tag keywords but you also have the categories and the caterogies in the admin to set up and also tag. You also have the archive ability.
