Differneces between OID, ODSEE and OUD

Hi,
Can someone point me to where I can learn about the differences between the LDAP like solutions that Oracle has?
When should I use each of the above? What are there best for?
Many Thanks,
Oded

Hi,
Oracle has 3 LDAP servers:
- Oracle Unified Directory (Oracle Unified Directory</title><meta name="Title" content="Oracle Unified Directory">&l…)
- Oracle Directory Server Enterprise Edition (formerly Sun DSEE) (Oracle DSEE</title><meta name="Title" content="Oracle DSEE"><meta name="Descript…)
- Oracle Internet Directory (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/id-mgmt/overview/index-082035.html)
A single licensing scheme, called ODS+, cover all of them. (Oracle Directory Services Plus | Identity Management | Oracle). ODS+
also include the right to use Oracle Virtual Directory (OVD) (Oracle Virtual Directory Home Page</title><meta name="Title" content="Oracle Virtual Directory H…)
Oracle Unified Directory comes with its own built-in database. It also provides a LDAP proxy.
Oracle Internet Directory relies on the Oracle DB to store entries.
Both are certified with the Oracle Identity stack.
In general, use Oracle Unified DIrectory is recommended.
Feel free to share more details about your deployment type and expected directory usage.

    and blw explanation
Subsequent Debits/Credits are used in cases where the quantity is in the original invoice is to remain the same. For eg.
    PO 10 - $10
    Gr 10 - $10
    LIV 10 - $11 (Logistics Invoice Verification)
The vendor invoice is more than that in the Purchase Order. In order to correct, the Vendor may send in another invoice for
the Increased amount or a credit memo for the increased amount.
If you approve of the price increase, post the subsequent invoice received as a Subsequent Debit/Credit Invoice.
If it is a credit memo that has been received, then post the credit memo as Subsequent Debit/Credit.
This would retain the quantity but reduce the amount.
Subsequent Debit/Credit is for the case when the credit is not for the full amount eg. if the Vendor decided to credit
    only the $1 overcharged.
Credit memo is for the credit of the full amount and value.
Credit Memo u2013 A credit memo is received from a vendor if you were overcharged on a previous invoice. It is processed as a reversal of a previous invoice on a quantity and value basis referencing a Purchase Order. In the same way the system assumes a corresponding goods receipt was posted for the original invoice, the system assumes a credit memo is linked to the reversal of a goods receipt. You must change the transaction from Invoice to Credit memo.
Subsequent Credit u2013 You receive a credit memo from a vendor decreasing the total invoiced value on a previous invoice, not the total invoiced quantity. You must change the transaction from Invoice to Subsequent credit. It is a reduction of value but not quantity by the amount of the credit memo.
Subsequent Debit u2013 You receive an additional invoice from a vendor because you were undercharged, increasing the total invoiced value, not the total invoiced quantity. You must change the transaction from Invoice to Subsequent debit. It is processed as an increase in value but not the quantity by the amount of the additional invoice.

  • Differnece between Oracle BPM and Aqua Logic BPM

    Hi,
Iam just started readign about Oracle BPM , could anyone answer is there nay difference beteen Orcale BPM and Aqualogic BPM. I am working on other BPM technology ,I am analyzing other BPM tools to get the key differentiators among them. Please brief me the features that are unique to Oracle BPM.It would be helpful if good KB link is provided.

Good question. I'll try to recap a little history of Fuego, AquaLogic and Oracle BPM for you. I worked for Fuego just before it was acquired and rebranded as part of the BEA AquaLogic Suite. I'd like to see what other have to say on this topic as well.
From what I recall, BEA bought Fuego and released version 6.0. This was the first version branded as AquaLogic. The major change it contained was the integration of studio into the Eclipse IDE. It was somewhat integrated with ALUI, which used to be Plumtree before it was bought out by BEA and re-branded AquaLogic. I say somewhat since it wasn't integrated as well as it could. One major issue was the way the directory was integrated. They used a synchronization utility called ITPS (I think) to sync the ALUI directory with BPMs directory. This was very problematic.
Version 6.3 came out that improved the way the workspace integrated with portals and ALUI and integrated the directory more efficiently with ALUI. Mostly it contained many improvements in the workspace functionality. The workspace had configurable panels which made it easier to integrate with dashboard components and widgets.
Version 6.5 was coming out around the same time that Oracle took control of BEA. Version 6.5 is very much the same as OBPM 10g. For more information about OBPM 10g refer to this article:
    http://otndnld.oracle.co.jp/document/products/bea/weblogic/E13154_01/relnotes/release_notes_OracleBPM10gR3.htm
In a couple of months Oracle will be releasing BPM 11g. There will be many changes to BPM in this release. It will be integrated with JDeveloper and will inherit much of the SOA strategies known for Oracle's Fushion Middleware suite. It also contains a Process Composer web based UI that Business Analysts and Business stakeholders will find useful.
I blogged about BPM 11g here:

  • Diff between WAN replication and MAN replication

    Hi All,
Kinldy tell me differnece between WAN replication and MAN replication in cluster in weblogic server.
    Thanks in advance.
    Balaji kumar

MAN replication uses in-memory replication to keep the primary and secondary copies of the session
on different clusters. It always attempts to locate the secondary session on the remote cluster.
If connectivity between the data centers is lost, the local cluster will replicate the session within
the cluster. On the first request for the session once inter data center connectivity is restored, WebLogic
Server will relocate the session’s secondary to the remote cluster.
WAN replication uses in-memory replication within the primary cluster and asynchronous
replication via a database to keep a third copy of the session at the remote data center.
The database-backed replication mechanism makes the session data available to the other data center's
cluster should data centerlevel failover occur. The local server buffers its primary session updates in
an in-memory buffer that is periodically flushed. The database-backed replication has two modes of
    operation:
    - Local cluster periodically flushed the in-memory buffer to its local database. Cross data center
replication is handled externally using some sort of database level replication technology
    of your choosing.
    - Local cluster uses RMI to push updates periodically from the in-memory buffer to the
remote cluster. The remote cluster writes these updates to its local database.

  • Difference between Subsequent credit and Credit memo

    Hi,
Please tell me what is differnece between Subsequent credit and Credit memo.
You shoud give me on business exmple
    Thanks and Regards
    Anil Patil

    Hi Anil,
    For CREDIT MEMO
A Credit Memo (short for "credit memorandum") is a commercial document issued by a seller to a buyer, listing the products, quantities and agreed prices for products or services the seller provided the buyer, but the buyer did not receive or returned. It may be issued in the case of damaged goods, errors or allowances. In respect of the previously issued invoice, a Credit Memo will reduce or eliminate the amount the buyer has to pay.
The Credit Memo usually contains: PO #, Date, Billing Address, Shipping Address, Terms of Payment, List of products with quantities and prices. Usually it references the original Invoice and sometimes states the reason for issue.
Credit Memos are often called Credit Notes or just Credits.
The seller usually issues a Credit Memo for the same or lower amount than the invoice, and then repays the money to the buyer or sets it off against a balance due from other transactions.
The term may also refer to the document provided by a bank to a depositor to indicate the depositor's balance is being increased because of an event other than a deposit, such as the collection by the bank of the depositor's note receivable.
SAP Difference between Credit memo and subsequent debits/credits
Subsequent Debits/Credits are used in cases where the quantity is in the original invoice is to remain the same.
    Example:
    PO 10 - $10
    GR 10 - $10
    LIV 10 - $11 (Logistics Invoice Verification)
The vendor invoice is more than that in the Purchase Order.
In order to correct, the Vendor may send in another invoice for the Increased amount
or a credit memo for the reduce amount.
If you approve of the price increase,
post the subsequent invoice received as a Subsequent Debit Invoice.
If it is a credit memo that has been received for reducing $1 of invoice price,
then post the credit memo as Subsequent Credit.
This would retain the quantity but reduce the amount.
Subsequent Debit/Credit is for the case when the credit is not for the full amount
eg. if the Vendor decided to credit & only the $1 overcharged.
Credit memo is for the credit of the full amount and value.

  • Password synchronization between OID and AD - 10.1.2

    Hi,
I've some questions about the following issue:
I've tried to setup the password synchronization between OID 10.1.2 and active directory, with the intent of exporting ldap users from OID to AD..
Well, the bootstrap gone fine, but when I tried to activate the export of password in the activexp.map configuration file,
    I've obtained this:

I've opened a SR on metalink and I've received the following answer:
_"  As shown by the synchronization profile, currently you have a mapping for the password from OID to AD._

_According to the documentation, password synchronization requires the directories to be configured for SSL mode:_

Yes. It needs to be in SSL.
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_12/idmanage.1012/b14085/odip_actdir003.htm#CHDCJHHB
    Some excerpts:
Active Directory Connector uses SSL to secure the synchronization process. Whether or not you synchronize in the SSL mode depends on your deployment requirements. For example, synchronizing public data does not require SSL, but synchronizing sensitive information such as passwords does. To synchronize password changes between Oracle Internet Directory and Microsoft Active Directory, you must use SSL mode with server-only authentication, that is, SSL Mode 2.

  • Differnece between EXIT and LEAVE TO SCREEN or LEAVE PROGRAM?

    HI Experts,
Differnece between EXIT and LEAVE TO SCREEN or LEAVE PROGRAM?
    thanks in advance

    Syntax
    EXIT.
    Effect
If the EXIT statement is executed outside of a loop, it will immediately terminate the current processing block.
After the prodessing block has been executed, the runtime environment behaves in such a way that it follows with the exception Reporting Event Blocks START-OF-SELECTION and GET the schema from Leave Processing Blocks.
After the Reporting Processing Blocks START-OF-SELECTION and GET have been exited using EXIT, the runtime environment does not trigger any further reporting events. Instead, it directly calls the list processor for displaying the basic list.
    Note
We recommend using EXIT only within loops (see EXIT (loops) ). Instead, use RETURN to leave processing blocks.
    LEAVE [TO] SCREEN
    Syntax
    LEAVE { SCREEN | {TO SCREEN dynnr} }.
    Variants:
    1. LEAVE SCREEN.
    2. LEAVE TO SCREEN dynnr.
    Effect
This statement ends the processing of the current screen. The current processing block of the ABAP program and the current processing block of the dynpro are left immediately.
    Variant 1
    LEAVE SCREEN.
    Effect
The variant LEAVE SCREEN calls the current next screen. This is either statically specified in the properties of the current screen or has been set before using the statement SET SCREEN.
    Variant 2
    LEAVE TO SCREEN dynnr.
    Effect
The variant LEAVE TO SCREEN calls the screen with the number dynnr as the next screen. A data object of the type n of the length 4 is expected for dynnr. It must contain either the screen number of a screen in the main program of the current program group or the value 0. Otherwise, an exception that cannot be handled is raised. This statement is a short form of the statements SET SCREEN dynnr and LEAVE SCREEN.
    Note
This statement does not terminate the entire dynpro sequence; it branches to an additional screen in the same sequence. Only if the number 0 is used to branch to the next screen, LEAVE SCREEN terminates the screen sequence.
    LEAVE PROGRAM
    Syntax
    LEAVE PROGRAM.
    Effect
This statement immediately ends the current main program and deletes its internal session - including all loaded programs, instances, and their data .
The LEAVE PROGRAM statement can appear anywhere within any processing blocks. It ends the program regardless of the program/object or the program group of the internal session in which it is executed.

  • Differnece between ws_upload and gui_upload

    Hi
can u plz tell me what is differnece between ws_upload and gui_upload.

    Hi,
below information  is helpful to u.
WS_UPLOAD and WS_DOWNLOAD, the function modules used until now are not part of the standard set of ABAP commands. They are used to display the file interface on the presentation server. WS_UPLOAD and WS_DOWNLOAD are not compatible with , and have been replaced by GUI_UPLOAD and GUI_DOWNLOAD.
The new function modules, GUI_UPLOAD and GUI_DOWNLOAD, have an interface that also allows you to write Unicode format to the local hard drive.
Instead of using the function modules, you can use the static methods GUI_UPLOAD and GUI_DOWNLOAD of the global class CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES.
for each function module, available under SAP Easy Access " Development " Function Builder " Goto " Documentation.

  • SSL between SSO Server and OID

Can the communication between SSO Server and OID
be encrypted using LDAP over SSL?
    If so, how to set-up?
    Thanks,

    Hi Bikash,
Doc mentions that communication between AD and connector server is secure with ICF architecture.
Just wanted to confirm if same is true between OIM and connector server.
Saurabh mentions that between OIM and connector server ssl is required? Please confirm.

  • Differnece between Cardinality and Singleton for a Context Node

    Dear SDN Community,
Can you please tell me what is the difference between the Cardinality and Singleton properties for a context node.
    Thanks!
    Surya

    Hi Surya
    Lead selection
Leadselection is the property which is used to get the index of the selected row of the table
"OnLeadSelect" is the method used to fire an action when a row is selected
The Method wdContext.<node>().getLeadSelection() can be used to
find out the index of the selected element.
    Cardinality
Any node or attribute that has the context root node as its immediate parent, is known as an independent node or attribute.
Any node or attribute that has some other node as its immediate parent, is known as a dependent node or attribute.
    All context nodes are collections.
A node collection is composed of elements, where an element is an aggregation of the node’s immediate children (attributes and/or other nodes).
The cardinality property controls the number of elements a node collection may hold at runtime.
Every context node has a property called Cardinality. This property is composed of two values that
taken together, describe the maximum and minimum number of elements the node collection may hold
    at runtime.
    Cardinality Minimum: 0 or 1
    Cardinality Maximum: 1 or n
Therefore, there are four possible cardinality values (specified as <Min>..<Max>)
0..1 Zero or one elements permitted
0..n Zero or more elements permitted
1..1 One and only one element permitted
1..n One or more elements permitted
    Singleton
All independent nodes are forced to be singletons. This is because the context root node has one and only one element.
    Singleton is boolean
TRUE : One instance will be created for all te nodes
FALSE : Every Element in the parent node collection, there will be a distinct instance of the child node.
    Why Singleton
    -Efficiency
    -Less Memory
-Lazy Data Access(Creates instance only when needed, till then it will remain unprocessed)
    Supply functions
Supply functions are the mechanism to repopulate child nodes when the lead selection in the parent node
changes. When a singleton child node is declared, you must also write an accompanying supply function.
The Web Dynpro Framework will then automatically call your supply function when the lead selection
    in the parent node changes.

  • Is it possible to sniff connection between Oracle AS and Oracle DB?

i searched for documentation about security on communication between AS and DB. mod_plsql is used for connection to DB, it has some authentication modes but i think this is not security on protocol, just a user level security.
as in topic, is it possible to sniff and get network packages? if so, how to prevent?
or do you direct me to some oracle documentation about network security?
    regards,
    Ayhan

    Thanks for the reply Daniel,
My colleague has looked at the underlying data structures and they are not intuitive, in addition there's nothing to say that Oracle would not change the schema in a future release so I'd have to rule this out for that reason.
I am aware of Oracle APIs for replicating data between;-
    OID -> OID
    or
OID -> To any other LDAP compliant directory i.e. Sun's IPlanet (albeit somewhat limited from the previous option).
What I'm looking for is an API that will replicate data between OID and a DATABASE.
My rationale for requiring this interface is because our customer has data in OID that we need as reference data in a database to improve the efficacy of data analysis, LDAP is very poor at this. I am resisting writing the code to do this replication until I can prove no API exists.
    Kind regards,
    Chris

  • Difference between Portal Transport and Basis Transport

    Hi Experts,
    I have few questions .
    1. What's the difference between transport in portal and transport in Basis.
2 . In user admin , we create users and assign them roles. Even Basis people will create
new userids and assign them roles. Whats the difference between these two.
    3. In useradmin whats the difference between assigned roles and assigned groups.
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
I don't see any differnece in portal and basis transport
Content transport generally done from one landscape to other landscape. say  from dev to test system
    or test  to production system.
we create user id using user admin role in portal ume or we can get users externally by using LDAP funtionality.
Using user admin role we can assingn users to rolese and groups.
Groups are used for a group of users. IF certain users have similar authorizations in portal then we group them in single user group and then assing this group to the roles. This is called authorization.
Role is used to display the portal content to the users and is the top level navigation in portal.
If I miss anything at basis level then someone can help you.

  • Diffreence Between Master Data and Transcation Data

    Hello Friends,
What is the Difference Between Master Data and Transcation Data.
    i know only one differnece,,ie,,
Transcation data modified frequently and Master data are not modified frequently..
can any one tell the other difference..

    hi check this..
    MASTER DATA=>
Master data are distributed throughout the company, they are often not standardised and often redundant. As a result it is very costly to offer efficient customer service, keep track of supply chains and make strategic decisions. With SAP Master Data Management (SAP MDM) these important business data from across the company can be brought together, harmonised and made accessible to all staff and business partners. As a key component of SAP NetWeaver, SAP MDM ensures data integrity via all IT systems.
Regardless of the industry, companies often work with different ERP and Legacy systems. The result: the business processes are based on information about customers, partners and products which is displayed in different ways in the systems. If the data are recorded manually, there are more inconsistencies: some data sets are entered several times, others cannot be retrieved by all divisions of the company.
As corporate applications are becoming increasingly complex and produce ever greater amounts of data, the problem is intensified further. Nevertheless, your employees must work with the inconsistent data and make decisions on this basis. The lack of standardised master data easily leads to wrong decisions, which restrict efficiency and threaten customer satisfaction and profitability.
In a word: in order to save costs and ensure your company’s success it is necessary to consolidate master data about customers, partners and products, make them available to all employees beyond system boundaries and use attributes valid company-wide for the purpose of description.
    TRANSACTION DATA=>

  • Difference between recovered DB and DB at crash time

    Hi,
we have two versions 10g R2 and 8.1.7. For each version
I want to know after a recovery , what is the gap (the differnece ) between the recovered Database and the crashed data base (the DB at the time of crash).
Do you suggest any way ?
    Many thanks.

For crash recovery the difference will be any uncommitted transactions will have been rolled back.
for incomplete recovery (I.e. recovering from a disk failure) the data will either be at the point in time of the last backup (cold backups) or the end of the last archivelog applied.
