Difficult Situation with BlackBerry Screen Reader

Hello,
I have a friend living in Europe where Blackberry Support is very scarce. She is also Visually Impaired so getting information back and forth will be very difficult and but I am hopping that someone here will be able to help.
She has a Blackberry Curve 9360 with the new app Screen Reader.
Her problem is that the app slows the phone down 40 to 50% then without it. It also causes the phone to randomly crash where the only fix is a battery pull.
My question is, Does anyone have any experience with the Screen Reader App? Is this a common Problem? Any Fixes?
Like I said if you have any questions for me to ask, it might take a while for them to be answered.

Gestures when using the Blackberry Screen Reader indicates that to “Pan or scroll a list” that an audio cue indicates that the scrolling action is complete, and the BlackBerry Screen Reader updates the point of regard so that you can continue reading from the new location.

[BB 9320] Blackberry Screen Reader

Hello. first, sorry for bad english.
i've installed the blackberry screen reader on it, and it is very functional, on calls and messaging.
However, when i go to the phone book or in phone settings, the Screen reader mess up and start to read only half the informations.
if normally, at the first screen, says "operator, time, battery, signal", it now says only the operator.
the only solution is to restart the phone. always. always. always. always. always.
anyone with the same issue?

Sorry to hear you are experiencing an issue with the BlackBerry Screen Reader application.
Does this issue seem to happen only in the Address Book and the Settings?
After the restart does the application work properly upon first usage? If so, how many times of accessing does it work until this happens?
What software version does your Curve 9320 have installed?

Installing sharepoint 2013 with a screen reader

hi. tried to install sharepoint 2013 with a screen reader. but when i click on the install . using jaws for windows from htttp://www.freedomscientific.com. and it does not report the status of install. so is there a more screen reader frendly
installer or do things using the command prompt. can any one help. marvin.

hi. well. looked at the article. but have windows 7 pro 32 bit. and now. the installer runs in the web page. but where can i find the actual files to install. running a 32 bit windows 7 pro. on a toshiba laptop. got visual studio 2013, sql server, sql

Firefox is no longer compatible with a screen reader programs why?

Firefox 4.0 is no longer compatible with screen reader programs such as zoom text. I'm a visually impaired user and have never had problems until now. I want to revert back to 3.5 because now 4.0 is useless to me. If it isn't broken don't fix it. Mozilla just made things worse for me. Thanks a lot.

Your screen reader is no longer compatible because it's author has not updated it for FF4

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data. See https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+Firefox
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use
your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of
installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

Full Screen Button won't activate with JAWS screen reader

Hi,
I use a JAWS screen reader for testing compliance issues. On some videos I'm testing, when I activate the Full Screen button, the video goes to full screen mode for a second and then returns to normal screen mode. Please, can anyone offer me a solution?

You should consult the JAWS forum. There's absolutely no issue with fullscreen on Flash itself. The issue lies with the JAWS text synth functionality.

Issues with JAWS screen reader

Good day everyone,
I'm working at making sure one of my forms is WCAG compliant. All is good except when I try to use JAWS to screen-read the form to see if it sounds ok.
I have a bit of dynamic functionality built in the form and it's saved as a dynamic form.
But when the JAWS reader starts reading the form, nothing happens and it tells me no tags are available for him to read out loud.
If I save the form as a static form, the screen-reader works ok.
Is there anyway to work around this? is this an issue at the Adobe level or the JAWS tool? Is there a work around to make this work (we use JAWS where I work)
Or, would using another screen reader work ok?
I need some help on this one.

JAWS not reading dynamic forms properly. Try NVDA(Non Visual Desktop Access) tool. It is a free open source screen reader.It is working perfectly fine.

Does 9720 support the screen reader app

I havent bought a Blackberry yet but i am looking for a phone which has a hardware keyboard and also talks back to you, for my wife who recently became blind.
Can i install the screenreader app on a 9720?
I want a SIM free phone which has a keyboard and also has a screen reader or talkback, and it is proving very difficult to find one.

Yes you can install the screan reader app on older BlackBerry Devices. However, I looked at the 9720's Manuals and I can't find any documentation that it supports the app, so I can't assure you that this specific model supports that. For more information about downloading and installing BlackBerry Screen Reader, visit www.blackberry.com/screenreader
Have you tried considering BlackBerry10 devices? They come preloaded with Screen Reader and you don't have to download anything. Try the Q10 or the BlackBerry Classic

he used to use TALKS for Nokia and now he wants a blackberry
we found one program called Oratio from HumenWare but we want another option
cuz the current version of Oration only works with Blackberry Curve 8520
but we want another option
so can you help me please?

Up until Mavericks, the default setup for multiple displays was "Extended desktop". This picture show how it works far better than any words I could post here:
The blue boxes are Icons for your displays, whose sizes are proportional to the number of pixels. Drag the boxes so that they accurately represent the placement of the displays on your bench (left, right, up, down). Then the mouse moves freely across the boundary between displays, and you can drag a window with it. You can also stretch a window so that it covers most of both screens.
The small white header is an Icon for the MenuBar, which is also moveable.
for Mavericks and later, a different scheme "Displays have separate spaces" becomes the default, but can be annulled by this setting in Mission Control:
"Full Screen" is a concept ported from iOS, the land of tiny screens and one-at-a-time processing for the iPhone. If you have multiple screens, invoking "Full Screen" will make most of the screens stop working entirely, which your main window expands into the MenuBar area. Do not use "Full Screen" on a Mac with multiple screens.

JAWS Screen Reader Not Reading

I am in the process of developing a online flash module for a client and have been having some problems with the screen reader actually reading the text on the screen. The text is in a classic dynamic text field. The field is covered by a number of layers of text and graphics and is not in a movie clip. Accessibility properties for the field have been enabled. Accessibility active returns true but nothing is being read. Is there something else that needs to be done? Any assistance that could be offered would be very much appreciated.

Screen reader vowels problem in italian language

I bought a curve 9320 for my daughter, blind from birth. The phone with the screen reader in Italian language are really fantastic. Unfortunately, while entering text, the screen reader emits an echo only for the consonants, not for the vowels. This is a problem for use. Does anyone have suggestions?
