Difficult to edit titles and captions in iPhoto '11
Everytime I edit the title field or the caption field under information of each picture, iPhoto has a tendency to sometimes either "Undo" what I just typed, or jump to the end of the sentence.
For example, the title is
0707_10_TietgenJazz
As I start to edit it, marking the first part, typing in 07.07.10 instead, and in a second it will go back to the original title.
Its even more frustrating to edit in caption, as it constantly undos. So right now I can only copy paste from elsewhere.
DanShou,
"You're not alone".
I've just imported a pile of new photos. While editing both the name and description fields, iPhoto "sometimes" ignores my text (during text entry) and reverts to the previous text.
I've tried to reproduce this issue to see if I can identify a root cause, but there doesn't seem to be a specific trigger. Sometimes it works without issue, others it really frustrates me.
I've taken to writing some of my descriptions in Text Edit and copy/pasting it into iPhoto.
Has anyone else found this issue?
Steve

How can I restore iPhoto titles and captions to iPhoto JPEGs sent to, and opened in, Aperture 3?
Thank you very much, Kirby. Your suggestion was exactly what I needed. It proved to be a big help even to my One-to-One Aperture trainer at the Naperville IL Apple store. My slideshow text, caption, and music attributes also were carried over intact to the new Aperture 3 environment. - A.Z.

In other words, I'd like to edit the title of a photo, the caption, then the title of the next photo, the caption, etc.

Photo Titles and Captions on Ipad Mini 3
I want to add titles and captions to my photos on my new Ipad Mini 3 - just like you can do in iPhoto on a mac desktop, though I understand this has been discontinued for the ipad mini. It seems quite absurd that I can't name and file my photos properly in the main photos app (beyond selecting to put into albums) - has anyone found a good solution, add-on or way around this? I'm an iPad newbie so the answer may be obvious! Thanks for your help guys.
Hi, Yes you can add captions,edit and add titles. Just go to the app store and type in the search box what you are looking for. Example Photo captions, photo collage or what ever you are looking for. You will then see what apps are available to buy. Have Fun!

I imported an album from iPhoto. All the photos were titled and captioned. The pictures showed up just fine in iMovie, but non of the titles or captions. Do I have to redo all that or is there some way to have them show up?
Matt--The problem with iDVD is that all captions and titles are displayed against a blackish grid that cuts off the bottom of a lot of the photos. This grid shows up even if there isn't a title or caption.
In my first attempt to burn a disk from iDvd, it played fine for about 10 minutes. Then froze up and displayed the message "system error 69902". I couldn't go forward or back. -
Can I add or edit Keywords and captions from within the Map module?
I frequently find a need to edit or add to the caption while reviewing and geotagging photos in the Map module. Constantly toggling between modules is inconvenient. Is there a way to add/edit captions or keywords while working in the Map module (or view the map module while working in the Library?
Thanks!

Can I add or edit Keywords and captions from within the Map module?
created by Modesto Vega in Photoshop Lightroom - View the full discussionYou should be able to change the title, the caption, the sublocation, the city, the state/province, the country, the ISO country code, the altitude, the direction, and a few other fields. However, you cannot add keywords. It would be real nice if Adobe could add this to the Map module. Ibooks author inspection widget: grayed-out title and caption options when object is selected
I'm trying to add titles or captions to photos in an iBooks Author project. I select the photo, click on Inspector and Widget, then Layout. The only active option on Layout is the Accessibility Notes. Is this a bug? What am I missing?
Right.
You can create text boxes next to an image for title and caption, but otherwise, those are attributes for a widget with media. -
If I try to export a handful of images at the same time, the title and caption is stripped out at export. This happens on 5, 15 or 50 images. If I export them one by one the information is retained. It seems to me that only the first or one image can retain it's title and caption.
Does anyone know why and how to fix this?
LR 5.2 on Windows 7.Very strange. Haven't heard of any similar reports, so it doesn't sound like a very common problem. Maybe try resetting your preferences file, but if that doesn't work all I can suggest is to raise the problem at the official Adobe feedback site.
For resetting the preferences file, see here:

What's the difference and purpose of Keywording and metadata such as title and caption etc?
What's the difference and purpose of Keywording and metadata such as title and caption, crator, sublocation , label etc? Where & how is the information used? Where does it appear?
Keywording is primarily for your own use for finding photos fast.
Title, Caption, etc are also for your own use but can be used by your clients or your stock company if you do not <Minimize Embedded Metadata> on export. Keywords are also included on export but are hardly of any use to others - unless you follow a standard for keywording.
You have the option of selecting title, caption, etc to appear in a Slide Show, on Print, or on a webpage created with LR.
If you go to the LR Help menu and type "title", or "caption" in the search box you will find plenty of advice for this.

Searching 'Title' and 'Caption' metadata
I've searched a bit on this and am not getting anywhere. The issue I am having is when I apply content to the Title and Caption fields of metadata, they are not searcheable. Meaning, when I use the 'Find' section on the sidebar, it doesn't locate images that I have confirmed have the content I am searching for. I've made sure that when using 'Find,' I have all 'Anywhere' selected for 'Text' and 'Contains Any' for 'Rule.' Also, 'All Dates' is selected for 'Date.'
I can't help but think I am missing something amazingly simple.
Thanks in advance.

calivw78.comjimburgess, John O'Connor, DonRicklin...thanks for the help. Although I thought I had made extremely sure that I had no other filters in place to skew my metadata search results, I must have missed something. Although I can't remember exactly what it was that made my search start working, I believe it was related to both apply "cmd-L" to start fresh and then looking under the 'Folders' panel to see matching photos as some of you had recommended.
Really appreciate the help. -
How can i type international alphabet characters into keywords, titles, and Captions in Lightroom 4? Usual Microsoft key shortcuts not working.
I haven't found a way to do that directly, but there is a workaround. It' s a bit cumbersome, so it's only good for the occasional character.
In MS Word or any other text editor create a file that contains all the international characters you need.
When you need to insert one of these characters into Lr (captions, title, keywords) copy the character from your text document and paste it into Lr where needed.
On Windows Ctrl + C / V works fine. -
Adding title and caption to Photo Gallery
My XML looks like this:
<photos id="images">
<photo path="405.jpg" width="405" height="470"
thumbpath="405.jpg" thumbwidth="86"
thumbheight="99" title="A White Winter's Blanket"
price="4715200" artist="Ernest Albert"/>
and can be viewed at
http://www.roughtongalleries.com/galleries/american.xml
My page is at
http://www.roughtongalleries.com/american_gallery.html
I want to have the title and artist show up with the main
image as you click on thumbnail or run slide show.
It seems to me I have to create a new div for it and modify
one or both of the js files that come with 1.6 gallery_xds.js and
gallery_int.js
I would appreciate any help. This is not where I have my best
skills yet.This is answered in another topic and although I am still
having a small issue I will wait till
I get the answer there.
