Difficult to import DWG file

I have a question regarding import of DWG. The file DWG is unknown format and cannot be opened, I just can open a DXF format, but the size very big. Unfortunately, when i convert to PDF format, the size still cannot be reduced and i cannot send document for my customer all for the same time. Must be sent separately. Any idea to solve my problem?

Save the file back to AutoCAD v2006 for the dwg files and dumb them down as well do not include sheets you are not using this will reduce the file size a lot.
Then in Acroabt X if you have ti go to tools and prepare for web publishing and use all the default settings there are three autmatic steps but it tops to ask you if you want to change the default settings and jus continue and change nothing. This will reduce the file size a lot and not really change anything about the file.

    it is very difficult to import audio files from extern drives (NAS) into the new garageband.

    Are you trying to open an audio file in GarageBand or a GarageBand project?
    To open an audio file drag it from your NAS to a real-instrument track in GarageBand.
    If you are trying to open a GarageBand project - can you open the same project, if you copy it to your system drive?

  • When importing DWG files to Illustrator, how can I keep the same coordinates (x,y location) of the original file?

    In previous Illustrator versions, when I imported a file, the Autocad block would appear in the x,y right location. So if the middle of the block was 0,0 then when imported, half the block would be on the page and half outside (on the negative space). Now when I do the import in Illustrator CC, it appears in random areas of the artwork. Most times not even on the page, but the negative space. So how can I manage where it lands?

    Looks to be a good question for an MS Word forum / user community.

  • Importing AutoCAD (.dwg) files to FM

    I am trying to import .dwg files into .fm files. I don't normally use AutoCAD and don't know how to use it. But, I need to import images drawn in AutoCAD into a frame files. Is this as simple as inserting a picture? Or will the .dwg file need to be converted into something else as a .svg file before it can be imported/compatiable?
    Thank you!
    I really appreciate any insight into this.

    The best luck I've had was importing DXF or CGM files (sometimes one works better than the other) that had been exported from AutoCAD.

  • Importing MOD files

    I am considering buying a Canon FS300 video camcorder. Some of the reviews cite difficulties with importing the files into imovie '09 because they are MOD files. However, the apple camcorder support article doesn't note any difficulties. I'm not interested in doing a lot of converting of files - I want an easy to use camcorder. Anyone have any experience with this camera and imovie?

    I have iMovie09 and the FS300, and found it easy to import the movies from the camera. I imported my videos by first connecting the camera my MacBook Pro without iMovie open. Then I turned on the camera and let it initialize. Then started iMovie, which recognized the camera on start-up, and was able to import.

  • Opening DWG files in CS

    Is there a way to open or import DWG files in AICS?

    File>Open is one way
    Fie Place is another way
    depending on the type of support the file has will depend on how it opens the files. Fr instance 3D is not supported by AI.
    But dxf and dwg can be opened and export from AI. It is one all the time, It may not open the very most current version though.

  • Illustrator CC is not importing AutoCAD DWG file layers correctly

    In CS6, I could import (open) DWG files  and it would correctly categorize the input objects into separate layers. In CC, it is putting them into a group in a single layer,  which is a big usability regression. Is there a fix for this?

    Hi,
    In attachment I have included two dwg files,  both were made in autocad 2014, one saved to autocad version 2007 and one to version 2010.
    link to the files (link active for 7 days): http://we.tl/idgHIsqNgk
    I have opened both in illustrator CC and saved them. Some objects in the Illustrator CC file are on different layers then in the the original autocad file.
    I have opened the same testfile (2007) in illustrator CS6. (file testfile_2007_opened_in_AI_CS6). AI CS6 correctly imports the dwg file.
    The same results are achieved with prior file versions of autocad and with the dxf file format.
    Also the same results are achieved on different computers (all are windows 7 pro 64bit/autocad 2014-english)
    Software configuration:
    Windows 7 64-bit professional SP1 – English
    Autocad 2014 : Autocad architecture SP1 version l.108.0.0 – English
    Illustrator CC : illustrator CC  (64-bit) version 17.1.0 - english

  • Unable to import DWG CAD files to WCS

    Hi all,
    I am trying to import a DWG CAD file to my WCS 4.2.62.0 for a floor area. Everything I read says I can import DWG CAD files (as well as gif, jpeg, and png) for Floor Areas but I am unable to do so. I get the following error message:
    The image file is invalid. GIF, JPEG, and PNG files are acceptable image types for campuses and outdoor areas. DXF and DWG CAD files are acceptable in addition to GIF, JPEG, and PNG for Floor Areas.
    Any ideas on why I am unable to import a DWG file as a floor area?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi MH, thanks for your response. Here are some links to the literature I was referring to.
    This is the WCS Configuration Guide, release 4.2:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6305/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00808e525f.html#wp1125793
    This is the WCS Release Notes for WCS version 4.2.62.0. It appears that support for AutoCAD files is a new feature in this release:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/wcs/release/notes/WCSRN4_2.html#wp44484
    I hope those links work ok for you. I'll have to take a look at this Trapeze/Nortel 'RingMaster' (it is a great name).
    Thanks,

  • Importing text file (with file names) into Automator.. is it possible?

    Hello all,
    I have been working with Windows Batch files for my line of work. I have a couple of file names in a text file (a column), which I want to copy from one folder of one hdd to another folder on a different hdd. I have been trying to do this kind of work with a Mac. I already know how you copy and rename files in automator (which isn't difficult, of course) but you have to 'select' the files in the finder first (with get specified items).
    But the only way i see that you can specify items is by selecting them... is there a way to import a text file with all the file names instead of selecting all the file names manually?
    or is there an AppleScript alternative which I can use to import the text file (or just copy into applescript) and run before the query's of copying and renaming the files? I am kind of new to Apple programming.
    The text file looks like this:
    image1.jpg
    image2.jpg
    etc..
    so there has to be a command to: 'goto' a specific folder as well.
    Thanks in advance!

    You can import text files, but if they are just names you will need an additional action to add the source folder path. A *Run AppleScript* action can be used, for example:
    Tested workflow:
    1) *Ask for Finder Items* {Type: files } -- choose the text file containing the names
    2) *Combine Text Files* -- this gets the text file contents
    3) *Filter Paragraphs* { return paragraphs that are not empty } -- skip blank lines
    4) *Run AppleScript* -- copy and paste the following script:
    <pre style="
    font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;
    font-size: 10px;
    font-weight: normal;
    margin: 0px;
    padding: 5px;
    border: 1px solid #000000;
    width: 680; height: 340px;
    color: #000000;
    background-color: #FFEE80;
    overflow: auto;"

    on run {input, parameters} -- add folder path

    output: a list of file paths (aliases)
    set output to {}

    end repeat

    return the output -- pass the result(s) to the next action
    end run
    to ShowSkippedAlert for SkippedItems
    show an alert dialog for any items skipped, with the option to cancel the workflow

  • How can I import AVCHD files from my hard drive?

    - How can I work with .mts files from my Sony camera that I dragged from the camera to a folder on my computer. If I understand it well, if I import the files with a Log and Transfer, they will be converted to another format.
    - do they lose quality with the Log and Transfer conversion?
    I want to erase my sony camera hard disk but do not want to lose the original files, that is why I ask.

    Hi -
    In order to use the files from your camera easily (without 3rd party software) you need to not only drag the mts files, but the ENTIRE DIRECTORY STRUCTURE of the camera storage to your hard disk drive. Many people find it most convenient to use Disk Utility to make a disk image of the camera storage media, and keep the disk image on their hard disk, available for re-use at any time.
    The additional folders that are present on the camera storage give necessary and valuable information to Final Cut as to how to "unpack" the extremely compressed video files. Without these files as guides and instructions, it becomes a much more difficult process.

  • How to place CADD (DWG) files into an InD document

    I am going to be receiving CADD drawing which have to be placed in my document.  Traditionally  CADD are "DWG" files.  Can I receive them as DWG  and import or place them.  Must they be "Photoshopped" first and changed to a TIFF file.  I do not see any mention of this kind of file in InD or in Photoshop.  Is receiving them as an already changed to PDF the only other option?  Is there something in Illustrator that might be helpful.
    Thanks

    Thanks for the extra info-I would not have remembered to do that- Not operating in the Corel world now-but that is exactly what I had to do often when I was away from the main frame.

  • Why can I no longer import Mp4r files from my desktop (Macbook Pro) to iTunes??

    Why can I no longer import Mp4r files from my desktop (Macbook Pro) into Itunes?  Seemed to work perfectly well before the latest upgrade.  Feeling quite annoyed, especially when all the forums seem to give the same advice, which no longer seems to work!!  Please can someone help!  Uploading a file should not be this difficult!!!

    Make sure you have the Quicktime Player 7 installed.  It was an option when installing Lion.  Or you can get it here: QuickTime Player 7 for Mac OS X v10.6.3 or later.  Install it, reboot and try again.

  • Importing 3GP Files into a Final Cut Timeline

    I'm trying to import 3GP files from a cell phone video camera into Final Cut to edit. I've read that it can be done, but I'm having difficulties setting the correct presets in FCP.
    When I import a clip into FCP I get the following settings in the clip window:
    FRAME SIZE: 352 x 288
    Vid Rate: 10 fps
    Compressor: H.263
    Aud Rate: 8.0 KHZ
    That said, I cannot replicate these settings when I try to set the "Sequence Settings" and therefore, the clip does not appear in the timeline when I drag it down. Is there a preset for using this file format? Is there an easier way to do this?
    Thank you in advance for your help.

    as your mobile phone footage is a non standard tv format, you really need to start off with a proper sequence setting, SD PAL, SD NTSC 4:3 then import your footage into the browser, drop it onto the timeline and let fcp auto conform to the sequence. You could also look at compressor to convert it to the right frame size, or use mpeg streamclip to turn the footage into DV QT movie
    but as the mobile footage is small and highly compressed @10 frames a sec it is never going to look great anyway

  • Imported AVI Files becomes extremely dark in Premiere

    Using a microscope digital camera, I record 32-bit avi files with resolutions of about 2000x1500, these files are very large (about 1.5 gb per minute). Watching the AVI files, they are very bright and everything can be seen cleanly.
    I would like to convert them down to much smaller sizes, and I am using Premiere for this
    Occasionally when I import the files to Adobe Premiere, they become extremely dark, so dark that it is difficult to make anything out. This happens without me doing anything besides selecting the file and importing it. It does not seem to occur with every video file that I try to convert.
    Can anyone help me with this? What is going on with Premiere to cause this, how can I fix it or get around it?
    Thank you

    Wow. Good thing you said "32-bit avi files", otherwise I would not have had a clue! You're welcome, and I'm glad it is working for you.
    BTW -- That's really cool that your microscope can do this; especially that it includes transparency data. Very neat.
    You could also try leaving the alpha channel alone and placing a white or gray matte behind it.

  • Error importing PNG files.

    I have png images (from CS3/CS4) and they work fine with *all but one* of my program's on my mac and microsoft pc.
    iPhoto does not recognize the files and fails to import the files, looking in the log, it say's:
    28-08-09 21:08:25 iPhoto[504] CGBitmapContextCreate: unsupported parameter combination: 8 integer bits/component; 16 bits/pixel; 1-component colorspace; kCGImageAlphaPremultipliedFirst; 1920 bytes/row.
    I have made a new library, but that does not help.
    Other formats works fine with iPhoto, it's just the png that give's trouble.
    Anybody any idea's?

    I think you are making too much of an excuse for Apple.
    Oh no, really?
    Because, you see I've reread all of my contributions in the thread and I can't see where I've made any excuses at all for Apple. I have explained that the iPhoto supports RGB and I've explained why, but I don't think I've made any excuses. Can you find where I did? I'd love to know.
    If you have a Mac and a picture, the natural place to put it is in iPhoto.
    Yes, that's because it's called iPicture... oh wait a minute, it's not. It's called iPhoto.
    How hard can it be to support all the PNG formats?
    Gosh, a lot more difficult that scanning in RGB, I reckon. Or adding an RGB profile to an image already scanned. Of course, I'm not a programmer, are you?
    I think Mac users for the most part want to keep all their images in one place.
    See, do you have evidence for that? I see lots f posts on here from folks who don't. Who want to use other apps or just the Finder or even who want to manage their files themselves. But maybe you know better.
    I don't remember iLife coming bundled with iScannedPictures or iImages.
    You know, that's so true. But neither does it come with iFInance for book keeping, iDrawing for drawing, or iGarden for planning your Garden.
    iPhoto sounds better, but I'm betting most people that have a Mac store things other than photos in iPhoto.
    Yes, mostly they store movies too. And those that want to store drawings in there, well they give them RGB profiles.
    I find Apple lets me down a lot on the "it just works" mantra.
    Well you always have the choice to use something else, no?
    Regards
    TD
