Difficulty accessing/removing a pin in places

I have a pin in places that I don't know how it got there or how to get rid of it. I have tried the window/manage my places pulldown, but the location I want to delete isn't there (I didn't create this location, I don't know where it came from). I also tried clicking on the i in the bottom right corner and manually changing the location for each photo, but some of them wouldn't move after that and now I can't access the pictures associated with that pin at all! When I click on this particular pin it turns red and then blue but nothing else happens. This is so frustrating! Any help please?

I am having a similar problem. Somehow a bunch of my photos (with no GPS data in them) got assigned to Mount Rainier.
- Mount Rainier is no longer listed in Manage My Places (I thought I could fix the problem by removing it from that list)
- When I click on the "i" on these photos and then the "X", Mount Rainier is not removed.
- If I click on the "i" on these photos and assign a new place, the photo lists the new place in the "i" dialog and it shows up under both the new place and Mount Rainier. If I then click "i" and "X" on the place name, it reverts to Mount Rainier.
- I updated to the latest iPhoto, but that hasn't helped.
- I tried the "Rescan for Location" menu command, but that didn't help.
- I tried exporting one of the photos and then reimporting it. The reimported photo does not have a place (good), but I lost the original date/time of when the photo was taken (bad).
Any ideas how to clear out the bad place information without losing the other information that I want to keep? I suppose I could include title/keywords when exporting, make a note of the original date/time and then "adjust date and time" after importing, but that's a lot of work for more than a few such photos (I have over 30 in this state).

I will try to be more descriptive.( I am new to all this) In iphoto if you go to albums, click on any picture, at the right lower corner of pic there is a" i", when you click on that, a window opens, where you will see "photo place" u can type in the state or the country where the pic was taken, and a the map will show. You will see "drop a pin" , click on that and a pin (red) will drop on the location of where the picture was taken.
Okay, here is my question: how do you remove that pin for the location on the map ?
I have not found that information in the videos. Any info. or direction with this would be appreciated

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You can't assign a location to a photo and not have it have a pin when viewed in the info pane or the Places mode. That's what adding a location does. If you want to remove it from the Places mode remove the location info from the photo.
If you add a photo with location info to a book and had a map page in the book you don't have to have that photo be resented. You can select which photos to use in the map.

How to access removable disks?

I'm new on Elements and seem to stumble in the first round. I use several extern datadisks (for photo's, audio etc.) via USB - how can I import photo's and other stuff from these? No other program but Elements has a problem with that...

Thank you for your fast response!... From my side I should have supplied more info. My working horse is an eMac with for all possible data (photos, audio, backup etc) extern (USB 2) drives attached. These drives are formatted with MacOS (journalled) or FAT32. The OS is Mavericks with Elements 12. When trying to import files - 'Photos from cameras or devices' - it says under 'Source' just 'No device found' whatever I try. However after several tries it now seems to work with Organizer. And so I take it from there...

What version of Premiere Elements are you using and what computer operating system is it running?
For now, I will asssume Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit.
If you have video storage on an USB 2 or 3 external hard drive and you want to use any of it in a Premiere Elements project, you should be able to use Premiere Elements Add Media/Files and Folders to navigate to the external hard drive and import the file(s) into the project. What is happening in your case to give you problems?
Is the external hard drive USB 2 or 3, is the drive letter staying constant, and is the external hard drive formatted NTFS if you are working on Windows? If Mac, what format is your external hard drive?
Or do you have your media stored on a USB 2 or 3 Flash Drive or DVD disc...if so, then you would use Add Media/"Videos from Flip or Camera"/Video Importer after you insert your USB Flash Drive into a USB port or place the DVD disc in the burner tray.
Please review and consider, supply details, and then we shall work on resolving whatever Premiere Elements workflow problems that you are having.

How do I remove the pin code

Hi
I need to remove the pin code we put on the ipod, so that the insurance people can fix it - please can someone tell us how to do this!

You need to place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore it via iTunes on your computer. You should restore to factory defaults/new iPod vice from backup since it appears that the iPod will be given to a third party. For recovery mode see:

Remove Powershell Pinned Item from taskbar for all users in 2008 R2 RDS server

Im trying to remove the Powershell Pinned Item from the taskbar on a 2008 RDS server. I have setup a mandatory porfile from a 2008 SP2 server (because you cannot do this in R2 any more), Check the default user pinned items folder, check the registry for powershell.exe, loaded up the NTUSER.DAT file for default to see if any thing obious was there, tried some logon scripts that are suppose to remove pinned items and posted on several forums. This has to be one of the simplest dumb things i have ever worked on , and its been about a week. So how do i remove it?

The default pinned items are created the first time a user logs in. Modifying the default user profile won’t help here.
The easiest option is to set the “Remove pinned programs from the Taskbar” to disable taskbar pinned items altogether. The default pinned items won’t show up, but the user won’t be able to pin anything else either.
If you don't want to disable pinning altogether the solution is a little more complicated. One option is to remove the shortcuts “Accessories\Windows PowerShell\Windows PowerShell.lnk” and “Administrative Tools\Server Manager.lnk” from the common start menu folder. These shortcuts are copied to create the pinned items. If they aren’t present they can’t be pinned. This is not a supported option but it may work.
Another option is to use IStartMenuPinnedList::RemoveFromList in a first run script to remove the pinned items. Not sure how reliable this would be due to the timing of when the default items are added compared to when the script would run.
One other option is to use shell scripting to invoke the pin & unpin verbs on items:

This would need to be done when the user first logs in (since unpinning default items in the default user profile won't affect each new user account), but it also need to be timed after Explorer sets up the default pinned items as explained above.

on the 32 bit machines I was able to apply this hotfix

But it will not install on 64 bit machines.
Is there a hotfix for 64 bit? If not, what is the work around?

how do i remove red pin on map app,im talking about red pin not the blue pin?

The label that is with the pin. Touch the blue arrow to the side of it and then touch where it says Remove Pin.
EDIT: I just re-read what you said. If it is a red pin, it is from a searched address. In that one, you have to cancel the search and the pin will go away.

The top 3 fixes to itunes error 9808 seem to be
1) Go to Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Advanced, make sure that SSL 3.0 is checked and TLS 1.0 is checked. Also under Security make sure that the “Check for server certificate revocation (requires restart)” is unchecked. Then click ok and fire up iTunes.
2) The culprit is Norton. Go to Norton’s Personal Firewall and add the program “iTunes Helper.exe” and set the option to “Allowed” (”iTunes.exe should already be in the Allowed category.)
3) Close iTunes if you have it open right now. Then go to C:/Documents and Settings/username/Local Settings/Application Data/Apple Computer/iTunes. Delete or cut the preferences.xml file which contains your iTunes preferences. Then go to C:/Documents and Settings/username/Application Data/Apple Computer/iTunes and delete or move the preferences.xml file. Restart iTunes and it will recreate those files with the default settings. You can change them back later.

No photos associated with pin in Places

I have a problem with places in iPhoto 11, OS version 10.7.4 on a MacBook Pro. I imported some photos that were geotagged incorrectly, then deleted them. I then re-imported the photos, this time correctly geotagged.
The incorrect geotag info has remained in the iPhoto database and is showing up in Places. When I go to the Places menu and click on pins representing the deleted photos, a blank gray screen with no photos opens up. How do I get rid of those pins?
I have fixed preferences, removed the iPhoto plist, and repaired the iPhoto database and permissions. Nothing helps. The phantom pins remain.
Any help would be appreciated.

I also have been using Aperture, and went as far as editing all the geotag metadata inside Aperture for the suspect files. In Aperture, if I go to places, all the pins are in the correct locations.
If I switch to iPhoto and go to the same set of pictures, there are a bunch of phantom pins on the map without any pictures.
Wish I knew how to get iPhoto to rebuild it's metadata cache. Aperture is clearly reading the information correctly from the files.

Getting Card access by using PIN...

I am new to Java Card development. So far i learned about the theory and working of the java card. Now i am able to wirte a simple applet and can load it to a real card. IMydevelopment envirement is Eclipse and Jcop. Now I am on a stage to start proper developing. And first of all i want to learn about to access the card by a PIN code. Sir i tried to gooling it but did not get any sofisticated guidance. I want to know the steps which i sholuld follow it to get this part done, that is how to create, change, and authunticate a PIN code from an external envirement.

Hi,
As Sebastien has said, you need to capture the user PIN in your host application and then send the appropriate APDU to the card for it to verify. The APDU is up to you, but as suggested, the ISO7816 VERIFY command is a good place to start. You can then code access control rules into your applet to only allow protected resources to be access (i.e. APDU commands to respond successfully) when OwnerPIN has been verified. All you really need is an example of how to send a command to a card. Then you build up and send the appropriate commands that you have implemented in your applet. They will all be sent in the same way (as an APDU).
An example workflow would be:
Connect to card
Prompt user for PIN
Send PIN to card using APDU's
Check response from card
Continue session now that PIN is verified
This is a simple example. You can have as complex a procedure as you like (maybe you want to use encrypted EMV PIN blocks for example). The key is to work out what you want to do and then design the steps in a language neutral way. Then once you know what you want to do, you can start worrying about how. Each of the steps above is quite simple when handled independently.

Not Working: BlackBerry Link Remote File Access Remove Old BlackBerry from BB ID

I have: removed my blackberry q10 from blackberry link, wiped my q10, uninstalled and reinstalled blackberry link, have link version 1.1.1.32, blackberry q10 os version 10.1.0.2309 - which whenever I plug in the q10 after removing the device from link, says there is an os update, so I update it, and then it does nothing apart from rebooting the q10, or gives an error saying 'updates not available. Please check internet connection and retry.'.
Also, I have Logout/login on blackberry link, I know my q10 is activated as I have purchased items from app world, and on the computer the app world site shows that I have a q10 when I sign in. I am using the same BBID and have changed the password on my q10 to see if that made a difference, then signed out and back into link on computer with updated password. I have administrator rights on my computer.
I can access the q10 from my computer over the same wifi network, and it syncs files fine with wireless sync turned on. It is remote file access not giving the option to connect to my q10. 'BBID *email* isn't associated with a device running Blackberry 10 OS or an error occurred when trying to retrieve your information from the Blackberry ID servers.'
The problem is that although I have the same blackberry id for link and my q10, no devices show up on the remote file access screen, and I cannot access my files on my computer from my q10, yet I can sync them on my computer over the wifi network. How can I enable Remote File Access?
A problem could be that I have a Curve 9300 on my BB ID account, so if I could disable this (which I have no idea how to do after a lot of research), this might rectify why link cannot set up remote file access.
What I haven't done is wiped my q10 and uninstalled all user data from link at the same time, as then I would have to manually reload everything on my q10.
My q10 shows my computer in the settings\blackberry link\paired devices , but I 'cannot view files on *computer*'. Also, link does not show in the file manager. I set up my q10 as a permanent link not a one-off connection.

No one cares because it's not a z10 (I know because I am having the same problem and no one knows how to fix it and no threads for q10 fix)

Moving pins in Place

In Info map, click on the pin does NOT change the color. I can move it, but it does not stay moved. In full pane Places map, the pin changes color to yellow, but can not be moved. What's up?

This doesn't seem correct to me—and Manage My Places doesn't work for my need. I have about 120 photos precisely positioned using GPS - and about 10 where GPS didn't look up information and they ended up not geotagged. I cannot possibly be setting up a new named location for each of the photos (and onwards in the future).
Instead, I would just like to precisely position the photo in the info map. Many places describe how to do this by clicking the pin in the info-panel, the pin turning yellow and then dragging it. You can see a screenshot of this here:

However, my pin will never turn yellow regardless what I do! I found somebody suggesting that deleting iPhoto preferences fixes this. I'll try and report back.

Remove unwanted entries in PLACES sidebar

I have 2 entries in the PLACES sidebar which do not exist anymore. When I click on those 'places' in the side bar Finder hangs. How do I remove those 'places' entries as they are not needed anymore?
