Difficulty in connecting to 2009 Subaru Forrester

I am having diffuculty in getting my subaru to recognize my ipod nano 6th. It's always displaying "disconnected" when it's physically connected w/ the ipod specific cable.... anyone else have this issue?

Hello anndoebler,
And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Have you tried resetting your iPod's Network settings? To do this, head to *Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Network settings. After your iPod Touch has finished rebooting, try reconnecting and testing different Wi-Fi networks to see if makes a difference.
It might also help to take a look at this article as well for more troubleshooting techniques and information.

  • What adapter do I need to connect my 2009 Macbook Pro to my 2007 iMac?

What adapter do I need to connect my 2009 Macbook Pro to my 2007 iMac? I get really confused with all of the different cables out there an I want to make sure I get the correct one.
    Macbook Pro Model is: Late 2009, 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, OS X 10.9.4 (13E28)
iMac Model: Late 2007, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 667 MHZ DDR2 SDRAM, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)
    Thanks!

The 2007 iMac does not support cabled input. see > Target Display Mode: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Like Niel suggest's, your only option is to use a network based connection like > ScreenRecycler

  • Can't connect my 2009 macbook pro to new 2011 LG TV

I just got a new LG LED LCD TV and I'm trying to connect my 2009 macbook pro to it. I bought a Belkin Mini Display Port to HDMI Adapter at the Apple Store. I also bought the Apple HDMI to HDMI 1.8m cable to connect the computer to the TV. I set up the video fine by using System Preferences-Display. Unfortunately, the sound does not work though. I bought a Dynex stereo mini to RCA "Y" cable to connect my computer's head phone jack to the Audio In RGB/DVI port on my TV. The problem is that I can only get sound to work when I set the input on my TV to AV1. I can only get the video to work when I have the input set to HDMI/DVI. I need to be able to get them to work simultaneously. Can anyone offer me some advice?

    Brian in Fla wrote:
Unfortunately, you won't find your TV audio in the System Pref > Sound section. Macbook pro's, before 2010, don't have the ability to send and audio signal through the mini display port. They can only send video. Apple added the new hardware for audio in the 2010 models. You have to use a seperate audio cable from your MBP earphone jack and plug it into your TV. This can be a problem sometimes too. Depending on your TV. I ran an HDMI cable to my TV and I plug my MBP earphone jack into my portable Bose player. That works pretty good.
I think you need to go into System Preferences>Sound, and make sure the output is through the Headphone Port.

  • How do I connect early 2009 mac mini to Sony FD Trinitron TV

I am trying to connect my 2009 (2.0 ghz) Mac Mini to a Sony WEGA XBR TV. I have many cables/adapters trying to accomplish this but once the mini starts, all I get is a black screen. The TV appears to be receiving a signal but the screen remains black. I read on a forum that the Apple mini DVI to Video Adapter I bought yesterday won't work on my mini (?). My Sony is not an HDMI model. I guess my choice is component and S-video. My TV is capable of 1080i.  What am I doing wrong?   Thank you for your help!  My exact TV if this helps is 40XBR700 FD Trinitron.  Mac Mini is using most current Snow Leopard OS.

Thank you for your reply -
The TV is a Sony FD Trinitron and the video inputs are S-video, composite and component up to HD 1080i.
The mini is 2009, 2.0 ghz.  We tried using the DVI output from the mini using DVI adapters DVI-D to DVI-I to component with dip switches for various resolutions all the way up to 1080i and 16:9.  Tried  Apple mini DVI to composite and s video.  To this point - no luck on those combinations.  Thank you!

  • How can I connect my 2009 Mac Mini to a TV that only has the Component inputs available? My Mac Mini has a Mini DisplayPort and Mini-DVI port. Thanks.

Composite is analogue with one connector. That is why it is called composite
Component is analogue with three connections. I think one for each color
Here is the one for component. I misread composite for component

  • How to connect a 2009 Cinema Display with mini DisplayPort to modern card

    Hello:
I am ready to install a new NVidia Quadro K5000 for Mac in my not so old Mac Pro 4,1 (2009). I already installed Mountain Lion (10.8.3) as required. The problem is that the Mac Pro came with a Led Cinema Display which apparently only can be connected with a mini DisplayPort plug and the graphics card only have DVi and DP 1.2. I tried to find an adapter but the ones I have find are minidp male to DVI female and obviously I need a minidp female to DVI or DP female.
    I will appreciate any help.
    Alex Sierra

The fifth and sixth item on this page are DisplayPort male to Mini DisplayPort female "Extension cables". Under US$6 plus shipping from a reputable seller:

  • Can't connect my 2009 Mac Pro to HDMI with an AMD Radeon HD 7870

That's the basic jist.  I recently purchased an early 2009 3.33 GHz Mac Pro running OS X 10.8.5.  Installed was an AMD Radeo HD 7870 2048 MB graphics card, which has an hdmi port.  I'm able to connect a display via the mini-DVI output, but when connecting through the HDMI input on either my moniter (22" ViewSonic VX2270SMH-LED) or my tv (a 32" LG LED TV) there's no signal.  When I plug the hdmi from the computer into one of the tv's two hdmi ports, it recognizes a device and asks to switch over.  When I do, it tells me there's no signal.
    Again, my specs:
    Mac Pro Early 2009
    Mac OS X 10.8.5
    3.33 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    16 GB 1066 MHZ DDR3 ECC
    2 TB SATA Disk
AMD Radeo HD 7870 2048 MB
    Help!
    Many thanks.

To have your Mac adjust settings automatically, a display must answer with its name and capabilities when the Mac sends a query. The Mac sends such queries:
    • at Startup,
    • when you click the ( Detect Displays ) button [ try holding down Alt/Option key while viewing System Preferences > Displays] or
    • when your Mac awakes from sleep.
So first set your display to the appropriate port. Next try a Restart, or Sleep and wake your Mac, or use the ( Detect Displays ) button.

  • How to connect MacBook 2009 to Sony Bravia HDTV?

Hi everyone!  I received a Sony Bravia HDTV as a gift (lucky me!), and I want to connect my MacBook from 2009 to it so I can stream Netflix movies onto my laptop and watch them on the HDTV.  I have a Mini-DVI port (video out) on the MacBook, and HDMI on the TV.  A couple of questions:
    -  What cable(s) do I need?
    -  Do I need a separate cable for audio?
    -  Has anyone tried to stream Netflix this way (directly from the laptop), and was it successful?
    Thanks so much!
    Denise

You'll need a Mini-DVI adapter and an HDMI cable from that to your TV. Here's some types of Mini-DVI adapter to HDMI on Amazon.com. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_9_8?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field- keywords=mini+dvi+to+hdmi+adapter&sprefix=mini+dvi
When you connect the MacBook using a Mini-DVI to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo system for audio if your TV doesn't have separate input plugs for audio with the HDMI plug. The Mini-DVI to HDMI doesn't carry audio and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI. You'll have to contact Sony support to see if the Bravia has an audio plug that will work with one of the HDMI plugs.

  • Connect Mid-2009 Macbook Pro to HDTV via Mini Displayport to HDMI adapter

    Hello,
I'm trying to connect my Mac to my HDTV via a Mini Displayport to HDMI converter I bought at the Apple Store. I have tried on three different HDTVs, none of which allow me to output video. I have tried adjusting the resolution to every available resolution under system preferences. Any advice as to how to resolve this problem would be very much appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Jordan

I'm having the same problem, also with a 2009 13" MBP and a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter.  Does anyone out there have a solution?  Do we need a different kind of adapter?  My tv is a Samsung 720p.  My boyfriend can connect his PC laptop with an HDMI cable with no issues.

  • Flickering on DVI external monitor connected to 2009 Macbook

This is an ongoing an intermittent problem. At one point Apple phone support suggested that engineers are working on the problem but I haven't heard any updates.
The problem is with a 2009 macbook (13 inch) connected to an apple display (from 2008) by an apple minidisplayport to dvi connector. I don't find this kind of problem when another computer is connected to the display. The problem is unaffected by changing the brightness settings on the display.
The problem is intermittent, it occurs roughly once every five days. It typically occurs after the computer wakes from sleep. It doesn't usually occur when the macbook is first connected to the display (this suggests that it is not a problem with the minidisplayport to dvi cable) and jiggling the cable doesn't cause the problem or make it go away. The problem doesn't occur in particular when the computer is hot, it could be cool, after it is woken from sleep. There are no problems on the macbook's built in display.
The flickering is quite dramatic. Dark flashes extend from the bottom of the display sometimes 50% of the way up the screen and sometime 75% of the way up. The frequency is irregular but during an episode the flickers occur about once every one or two seconds, but sometimes there is a gap of 5 seconds. The episode will come to an end if I put the machine to sleep and wake it again (this also suggests that this is not a problem with the cable connection or the monitor).
It is difficult to get support on this issue. Since the problem is intermittent and may not occur for 5 days it doesn't make sense to try to reproduce it in an apple store. I called apple phone support and the technician recommended adjusting the brightness of the display, resetting the pram, moving some files that record configuration data for the external monitor. These didn't help. The technician acknowledged that apple is working on this problem and recommended that I call back if the problem recurred. I called back a couple weeks later and a technician recommended that I buy another minidisplayport dvi connector - to be frank this is an inconsiderate suggestion for a problem with end to end apple hardware - and I don't expect it to solve the problem.
How should I troubleshoot this problem, or get effective help from Apple? Is this a problem with the graphics card?

Hello, i have the same kind of issue.
75% of the time, my external screen works fine, otherwise, i need 5-10 plug/unplug/reboot to make it work...

  • Connecting Mid-2009 MacBook Pro to multiple monitors?

    Hey everyone,
I have a Mid-2009 MBP 5,3-- the type with a Mini Displayport, Firewire 800, 2 USB ports, and an ExpressCard slot. I'm trying to connect multiple monitors to it. The monitors may have different sizes/resolutions, so I'm not looking for a solution like the Matrox DualHead2Go, which apparently stretches out a virtual screen across multiple devices. My MBP should recognize each external monitor as its own device.
In all likelihood I'll be using the Mini Displayport for the first monitor. After doing some research, I can't really figure out the best way to get a second screen attached to the MBP:
People seem to complain about the refresh rate when using USB-to-X adapters for second monitors. Is there a better alternative to USB?I was thinking about ExpressCard-to-X adapters, but not sure this would work for second monitors.
Up to how many monitors could my MBP recognize? Theoretically I could connect 2 through USB + 1 through ExpressCard, but not sure this would work.
Thank you in advance for any tips.

Thank you ogelthorpe for the information. I have found the same cable that you lnked here in Spain/UK but can not find the exact one. The nearest I have found is this one.
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000068O3B/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc= 1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLEhttp://
Would that one be suitable. I contacted the manufacturer and asked if it would do the job and they replied
Our CMR-210 is designed to pass analog audio only. Quite often the newer TV's receive only digital information. I would refer to your TV manual or perhaps the TV manufacturer regarding the Audio in jack on your TV to see if it is digital or analog.
Can you please give me any guidance.

  • Troubleshooting trying to connect iMac 2009

Hey, I've got an iMac 2009 that I bought in France and I installed on it the latest update of Lion (10.7.3). I recently moved into the USA and now, my Mac won't connect to the network. I tried both WiFi + Ethernet but it only stays like 10 minutes to 1 hour connected and then the connection doesn't work anymore and then I need to switch my router on and off to have my connection back. I installed all the Software Update that I can on it but I still have that problem and so I need to restart my router like 10 times a day. Do you have a solution for me ?
    Thank you, Sebastien

    HI,
    my experience is as follows:
    1. You have to setup a home folder for network/mobile users with Server.app
    2. Create a group for network users with the workgroupmanagement.app from serveradmin tools
    3. Create users with  correct settings under "preferences" in workgroupmanagement.app, especially "rules"
    4. Put the users in the group
    4. Set the appropriate permissions to the home folder and share it over the network with server.app
After playing around I could login from a MacBook Pro and synchronize the users library and complete home folder. After testing and restarting the machines (Lion Server is on a Mac Mini) I could relogin with the network/mobile user.
My problem actually is, that I could not login from any other Mac. Everytime the system told me, that there is a fault with login.
Before I want to login with the network/moblle user on another MacBook i logout the user form the MacBook Pro.
    No luck :-(
I test it with other users with same settings.
    No luck :-(
I integrate the MacBooks in the Computer settings in the workgroupmanagement.app.
    No luck :-(
I hope this thread give answers the next days, because I need a working synchronize and account management solution for different users and machines :-)
    Cheers
    Ishan
