  • [HELP] Can I install a new version of Windows 7 on my Lenovo G550?? (+ One Key Rescue???????)

I bought a Lenovo G550 with 4GB DDR3, T4300, 320Gb. It came with Windows 7 BASIC installed and I'd like to install a version of Windows 7 Professional I have here. I want to do a clean install!
Well, when I started the installation, the disks were partitioned as follows:
    1. 200 Mb - System;
    2. 233 GB - Hard c: \ (where I believe that Windows 7 Basic is installed)
    3. 30.2 GB - Lenovo (here are the drivers, totaling 800MB used!)
    4. LENOVO_PART - 14.8GB [OEM] (is a hidden partition! Probably the One Key Rescue. He says CAN NOT INSTALL, OEM is because, for the MANUFACTURER)
The question is: if I delete the first 3 partitions, leaving only the hidden partition (Lenovo_PART-14.8Gb) and install Windows 7 Professional, will work?? If later I want to restore the system using the discs created by One Key Rescue, will work too? That will give an error?
PLEASE HELP! Windows 7 BASIC sucks!
(Thanks to google for the english translation)

OK - I was under the impression that you had a brand new machine and did not have to restore any data stored already.  If it were me - I would back up all of my data - not with True Image - but just back it up.  Then I would do a clean install of Windows 7  (getting rid of all those partitions) and either create one or two.   I just use one and then do regular images wtih Acronis True Image - but you could create two - one for the OS and applications and another for all your data directories.
I don't know how you would do a new install while trying to create the partitions exactly the way Lenovo has them when the machine is delivered.  (I don't think Lenovo does either)  So - I would make it simple and just get rid of them all after your data is backed up.   If you have new applications loaded, I would just install them again.  Not the most convenient but in the long run you will have an easier system to back up and manage.
I'm not a fan of Lenovo's instant restore proceedure, because A: it is complicatied, and B: it doesn't buy you anything if you crash your hard drive anyway.  It is really only good if you A: do regular backups with the instant restore, and B: either have a virus or corrupt some data and need to use it.  You can do the same thing by using the Microsoft system restore point proceedure.  So - to me it is just a gimick and makes your drive a mess wtih hidden partitions, etc.
That would be my approach.  I would NOT try to backup your current configuraton with Acronis before installing a new OS.  It can be done - but I think it will be very messy.  A much better approach would be just to delete all of those partitions with the Windows 7 install proceedure - then create just one or two new partitions as you install the new OS.  Then start using Acronis to do regular images on your drive.  You can also do incrementals so it only takes a couple of minutes each day.
Installing Windows 7 is a piece of cake as it finds all the drivers for you.  Just make sure you have it connected to an ethernet cable.  Then install your applications and then load your data back.  Very straigtforward.
The advantages you will get will be:  A:  You will get use of your entire hard drive space.  B:  It will be much easier to manage and back up.  C:  Using Acronis to backup your drive will be simple  D: If you ever lose data you can simply use Acronis to restore the directory or data file, or E:  If you lose your entire hard drive you simply get a new one and then restore from the Acronis CD and point it to your last backup image.
I hope this helps.  Good luck.

  • Creating a back up using One Key on a new laptop

Hi there, I am trying to set up a new Lenovo laptop.  I am being prompted to make a back up by the Lenovo Solution Center.  However, when I try to do that using One Key the option comes up to use the default drive which is the D drive.  But then it says there is only 22.4 GB of space on the D drive and the estimated image size is 29.0.  So it won't let me back up there.
I don't know what to do.  Do I need to back this up to an external hard drive?  Can the D drive be made bigger? What happens if I don't back up at all?  I don't understand why the d drive wouldn't have capacity for the back up.  Confused and would be grateful for any advice, thanks

There used to be the Create Recover Disks (DVD's) in Thinkvantage tools. Now whether you have that in on yours remains the question. If its Win8 then it may be different.
I would call the USA support which is posted on this website for country support. You'll get someone else. If your drive image is corrupted the info on there is not much use other than your data. There isn't a one touch that I am aware of. Trueimage is an excellent backup tool worth every penny.

  • Need Help using One-Key to make a system back up to DVDs

I bought U330 in Sept and now that I have some of my own programs installed and running, I want to make a backup to D (I think?) and also make backups to DVDs so I could make backups.
I'm no novice, but I cannot figure out the instructions for this.
When I pick  Backup, even at Max compression, it says I don't have enough space.   I don't have THAT much on D:---did I need to repartition this before I even started using this computer?  Does this mean I can never use One-Key?
When I pick Create Recover Disc (to make DVD backups), what do I do next?
The dropdown for "Select Source From" has only two options, I am guessing I have to pick "Select another image", but then I don't know what to pick for the Image path.    How do I pick the whole C drive ???   Or??
Please tell me exactly how to do this because I am finding LENOVO's instructions totally inadequate.
A couple times I got to the DVD burner--not sure how--but then it just wanted to burn the sample music files.    I'm feeling quite frustrated--this should not be this difficult!!

I thought you've got error of another type - that error is fixed by simple software update.
Regarding your case - it's always frightening in first time. Believe me - there's completely nothing to be afraid of.
Resizing C drive may result killing your DATA on it only in case of energy is down during the process. Process is taking about 15-20 minutes on slow programs and about 3-4 minutes on fast programs. That means that even having problems with electricity you'll be able to finish everything correctly running on battery.
I'd recommend using Acronis Disk director Suite, but it is not free. One of the best free progs for that are bootable Linux livecds PartedMagic and GParted. They're all intuitive understandable.
You will get your NOVO recovery feature lost after C resize, but you can enable it later, replacing that factory backup in hidden partition with your own backup - your NOVO button will restore your system with all your software and settings.
it will be good for you to start with some basic principles on partitions organization schemes - why, what for and how questions are briefly explained here. After reading this you'll be able to ask right questions to get right answers.

  • S205 - Steps to create a bootable USB drive using One Key Recovery (OKR) for backup image.

    Hi Guys,
I just got my new S205.  I am wondering how to backup the Windows OS including all factory settings to a bootable USB drive using One Key Recovery (OKR) 7.0. Basically I am afriad one day, my harddrive is failed or if I want to replace harddrive, I can reimage the harddrive back to factory setting and its OS (win 7).  Would you share with me on the steps to do so?
I opened the OKR software and click on "Create Recovery Disk" -> "Factory Default Setting Disk" and Next,  I couldn't see my USB drive? any one knows why?
    thanks in advance.
    New S205 owner.

I was able to do this, but it required reconfiguration of the HDD in my S205 (320 GB hard drive).
I used the built-in Windows Disk Management tool to shrink the size of my C: drive to 56,320 MB. [To accomplish this, I had to disable hibernation, and disable the swap file on the C: drive; and then re-enabled both after the process was complete.]  56,320 MB is more than enough space for the OS and all of the programs that I have installed (including the Professional version of Microsoft Office).
I then increased the size of the D: drive to 233,614 MB.
You can use different drive sizes, of course, but the D: drive must be of adequate size for the backup image.
Once the HDD is reconfigured, you can use One Key Recovery to backup your C: drive to your D: drive.  From there, it can be copied to a USB (or copied across the network, etc. ... I've done both). Yes, it is 2 steps, but it's really easy.

  • Flex 14 Ideapad Windows 8.1 not able to start or recover using One Key Recovery

I have a Flex 14 Ideapad with Windows 8.1. This was bought in Dec-2013. In the last 6 / 7 months I have has Windows crashing many times. The crashes used to end with a message boot media not found. Each time I used the One Key Recovery to restore the machine to factory setting.
Recently, I faced an issue around user id files not being able to be loaded at the initial startup. This time also I used the One Key Recovery to restore the system. After this I have has another windows crash and now the One Key Recovery also is not working.
What can be done now to make the system work again?

When you start up the system with the NOVO-Button, there should be an option for BIOS.
Do you see the hard drive in the BIOS?
    Another option is this:
You can use an USB-Flash Drive to start the system.
For example you can give Ubuntu a try, a good tutorial to do that can be found here:
    http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows
If this system start up without any problems, we can use it to test your system.

  • Is it possible to merge 10 BI reports using one key?

BI reports are based on Opportunity Id, and each report contains 5 different Ids, hence 1 single report will be splitted in 5 different reports based on Opty Id it has. Now for the same Opty Ids it does have different reports as well, so for 1 Opty Id if there will be 10 different reports, then all those reports should be merged in a single PDF.
In the "PDF Document Merger" section, no such functionality is mentioned to split the report based on a Key and then merges them. The requirement is to merge the reports in a single PDF File only, based on the Opty Id. As Customer has explained , they have 5 different reports, and 2 Opty Ids. So their final expected outcome is 2 reports by Opty Id, whereas each report will contain 5 different reports one below the other in a PDF file and print them.
    Please advice how to proceed.

i would set up a report, or more if you have more levels of reporting.
have it take the parameters you are splitting and then merging on.
from jdeveloper, write a webservice app that will:
a create a recordset of the parameters you want to pass to the reports.
loop through the recordset and run each report.
put the output file names into an array (or an inputsteam array).
    feed that array into pdfDocMerger.
you can optionally renumber and password protect as well.
then you create a script that runs the java program

  • Lenovo G460 Windows 7 One Key Recovery with a Linux Partition

    Hi All,
I recently bought a Lenovo G460 Notebook and installed linux on it to dual boot with WIndows 7. There was a problem with sound which I got fixed and everything is working fine now.
    My question is:
Will me linux partition be there as it is If I recover the windows 7 partition using one key recovery?
How to create a rescue disk from One key recovery?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi nilankaraja,
    To create a rescue disk :: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/onekey_recovery_46_user_guide.pdf
On part of the Linux partition, are you asking if the partition will be saved ? Or is it something else?

  • Delicate One Key Recovery function of S10-3

The One Key Rescue of my S10-3 was not functioning any more.
After I have taken several steps in creating Recovery Disc using the option in the One Key Rescue, S10-3 displayed that 3 dvd disc are needed but I had only one in hand, so I clicked the Return in the display to exit the process. As a result the One Key Rescue function was ruined.
Since Lenovo knows exiting the process will ruin the One Key Rescue function,
    a. why an exit option is provided.
    b. why no warnings are given at the beginning of the process.
    c. this is obviously a bug, why Lenovo still let it exists.
Fortunately, I know Lenovo Service Centre can revert the S10-3 to its initial state at a chargeable base.
This is easy to people in cities like Hong Kong, but it will be a disaster to people in cities of some Asian countries where there are no Lenovo Service Centres, people have to spend a lot of time and money in transportation in order to have  their computers rectified.

i try to unistalling intel storage but my problem doesnt solved, stil "Driver initialized failed"? anyone can help? thanks

  • Using multiple key values to find data

    Hello, It's me again.
I had a question about bring data out from Database and show on an ADF page on Jdev 11.1.1.3.
And Mr. Daniel Atwood     answered my question with this follow blog he wrote.
    http://www.avioconsulting.com/blog/datwood/2012/06/19/using-bpm-process-variable-adf-form-retrieve-database-information-0.
But I have another question on the top of that.
The example Mr.Atwood provided is when you using "one" key value, what if I have two key values, how to set this up?
    Here are some details:
I have a table like this
    ID     Type_code     Name
    0001      05      a-blabla
    0002     25      b-blabla
    0002     26      b-blabla
    0003      08      c-blabla
    0003      25      c-blabla
    0003     79      c-blabla
What I want to do is after input the ID(0003) and type_code (25), it will show me the result on three input text components in ADF page with value 0003, 25 and c-blabla.
Currently, I can use only ID to query the data, but I would like to use two key values to find the specific data.
Thank you very much for taking time to think about this,
    Sincerely,
    Viola

Dear Daniel, may I ask one more question please?
what if I have 4 tables?
    table1
    ID * ID_Type_code * Name
    0001 * 11 * abc
    0002 * 12 * abcd
    0003 * 13 * abcde
    table2
    ID * OID_type_code * Name
    0001 * 22 * abc
    0002 * 23 * abcd
    0002 * 25 * abcd
    0003 * 23 * abcde
    0003 * 22 * abcde
    0003 * 28 * abcde
    table3
    ID * OID_type_code * OGAD_line_id * address
    0001 * 22 * 1 * a street
    0001 * 22 * 2 * b street
    0002 * 23 * 1 * c street
    0002 * 25 * 1 * d street
    0003 * 28 * 1 * e street
    0003 * 28 * 2 * f street
    0003 * 28 * 3 * g street
    table 4
    ID OID_type_codeOGAD_line_id*COP_line_id*phone number
    0001*22*1*1*2222222222
    0001*22*1*2*3333333333
    0002*23*1*1*4444444444
    0003*28*2*1*5555555555
    0003*28*2*2*6666666666
    Primary key for each table
    table1, primary key is ID
    table2, primary key is ID , OID_type_code
    table3, primary key is ID , OID_type_code, OGAD_line_id
    table4, primary key is ID , OID_type_code, OGAD_line_id , COP_line_id
I would like to show each value in each table in the separate input text fields.
Therefore, this is an advanced question based on the previous one, not only get values from one table but also from several tables based on input for example 0003 and 28 as the ID and OID_type_code?.
Let me know if you need more details,
    Thank you so much,
    Viola

  • IdeaPad S300 & Windows 8 & One Key Recovery 8

Hi, I bought IdeaPad S300 with pre-installed Windows 8 system. I need to create recovery disk, but this model is not equipped with DVD burner.  I decreased  C partition size and created new primary E partition on remaining space, so partition table is just changed...
    1. Is there any possibility to prepare recovery USB flash drive?
    2. Can I do this using One Key Recovery 8?
    3. What's the difference between making recovery disks using OKR and Windows 8 Reset your PC feature (there is option to create disk from recovery partition image)?
4  Did I lost a chance to recover factory system from hdd recovery partition using OKR?
    5. Can I recover my factory system using USB flash drive in this case?
    6. All partitions on hdd will be recreated to factory arrangement after recovery?
     thanks for reply

    hi stroggi,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Community.
    Regarding your questions:
    1. The Lenovo One Key Recovery 8.0 supports recovery creation on a USB Flashdrive.
    2. Yes, you can create a USB recovery drive using One Key Recovery 8.0, you may find this utility by typing Recovery on the start screen.
    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
    3. The difference between the OKR 8.0 and the Windows 8 Recovery are the following:
3a. OKR creates a .wsi backup file while Windows 8 Recovery creates a VHD file.
3b. In restoring the files, OKR 8.0 requires you to boot from the one recovery button while Windows 8 Restoration can be done inside of Windows or by booting from the recovery usb drive.
    4. If you didn't delete the One Key Recovery 8.0, you can still create a recovery drive using OKR 8.0.
    5. If you created a recovery drive using OKR 8.0, you will need to launch the One Key Recovery button to restore the image. For Windows 8, you can refresh windows or use the usb recovery drive to refresh it (same procedure applies in refreshing)
    6. Only the preload OS partition (Drive C:\) will be created after recovery. Any other partitions will not be restored. If you want to clone your HDD (sector by sector), you will need to use a third party application (i.e. Acronis or EaseUS Disc Clone. - Note: backup your data before making changes to your OS).
    Hope this helps.

  • Hardisk partition and one key recovery problem

    Hi All,
I am new to to the lenovo community. I  recently bought a lenovo G series machine( G550 model #298595Q preloaded with Windows vista and 320 GB  HDD) . surprisingly  The C: drive contained 254 GB of the total  available 284 GB and D: drive had the remaining space. I wanted to inistall linux, I had to partition the C:drive and no where in the lenovo mannual it is warned against the resizing  C
I used a partition software called "paragon" to resize my C: drive. My system hanged while  running the process and after a long wait I had to shutdown my system and after that my OS was not loading. So I decided to recover my vista using one key recovery. I tried the back up I stored in D: drive  and in DVD and it is giving an error message that  "not enough space in the system"  and in the one key recovery menu the target location of the one key recovery is showing to D: drive  but my preloaded vista was installed in C: drive and also it is showing the total free space as 298 GB)
Could any one help me to get my vista back.( why the target location of one key recovery is showing  to D
or is there any way to increase the D: partition from boot setup). Please help me.
and also my warranty is valid , since I touched my C: drive( no where it is warned against that)?

I have posted this somewhere else, but it involves Win7, see if this helps:
What I can tell you is that I spent a lot of time as well trying to mend the soft/partitioning and to get rid of bloatware!
In short: I did a clean reinstall + recovered my OEM activation + partitioned the HDD as I wanted. Now it looks and reacts familiar (I used XP as well, before).
BEWARE: trying partitions managers as Easeus or Paragon has blocked my partitions - they seem to be "coded" somehow.
Do not hesitate: after you backup activation erase totally HDD (I used killdisc) and all shall be gone and you start fresh.
Get a Win 7 serching for "digitalriver" Get ABW for activation restoring Get drivers from Lenovo support, install only what you need by function not all of them!

  • One Key Recivery Question

Hi all. I recently upgraded my HD to a SSD drive. I am using the old HD as a back up/media drive. I havent formatted it yet. I still would like to be able to use one key recovery. If I format the old drive, where can I download one key recovery? If I cant does anyne have Any good back up/boot desk solutions? Thanks

    hi ksk11214,
If you have Windows 7 preloaded on the HDD drive, you can create a recovery disc that you could use to restore the preloaded OS on this drive. If you're looking to transfer the preloaded OS from the HDD to the SSD drive,  you can try to clone the drive (see steps below)
    1. Insert the original HDD and set it as first boot device under BIOS then connect the SSD drive using an SATA enclosure
    2. Download and install a demo copy of Backup & Recovery 12 Home or Aomei Partition Assistant Home Edition and clone the HDD drive to the SSD
3, When finished cloning, reboot the PC into the BIOS and make the SSD drive as the first boot device.
If you're using Windows 8, create a recovery drive using this guide first then follow Step 1 above.
    4. If you get any errors or if the OS won't boot-up, insert the recovery drive that you created on Step 4 and boot from it to restore Windows 8.
    Hope this helps
