Difficulty making a mask

I am trying to make a mask with the Mosaic tool and I do not have the circle or square option popping up to allow me to make a mask. I am using Premiere Pro CC and I see in tutorials there should be an option to make a mask within the effect, but I do not have that option appearing.

In fact, it is listed in the devices profile file. The problem I see is the steps to production of an APP.
Made as follows:
My friend created the folios in InDesign (with your login) on another machine. Provided in a shared folder.
I already have the contents of the application. From here, I believe he should publish through the Folio Producer and then I create the Application Builder IOs in DPS app in Title citing the Login ID he used to publish the content.
Hence, I believe that would only make the Download Device and see install APP.
Is this the correct sequence?

Difficulty making a accurate teardrop shape

Hi,
My difficulty is based around making a tear drop shape on illustrator. I am using two shapes to make this, a square and circle (shown in attachment) however the accuracy is poor because the circle and square don’t line up.
I used a grid but still accuracy is difficult because its based on trial and error. Is there an accurate way to achieve this shape with success? Shown in example there are corners sticking out!

If you think about it, in order for the square to line up smoothly with the top left quadrant of the circle, the dimensions of the square have to be exactly the same as the radius of the circle. The square in your example is a little bit too big.
Select the Elipse tool and click on the artboard. Enter the dimensions of the circle required; for example, width 100mm (you only have to click the word "height" to enter the same amount). The circle now has a radius of 50mm. Now select the Rectangle, click the artboard and enter a square with sides of 50mm. Select both and align as described above.

Is there a tutorial on making a Mask,Or Clipping Mask for CS4?

I have imported a file of a sheet of music,and all I want is the sheet, not the background. Easy to do so in PS. I didn't know I could "print screen" directly into .AI and I've tried making a clipping mask so I could use the sheet as a background to no avail. Really appreciate the help.....thanks...mm

Let's see you can lock the art or image of the sheet music in the layers panel and the freely use the pen tool on top of it.
You can group if you wish the art for sheet music and then center that within the artboard then lock the grup in the layers panel and freely work ove the locked group.
you select that group and drag it into the symbols panel and make it a symbol and that would protect it even further and you also lock that symbol.
You can edit the art of the symbol without undoing the clipping path by editing the symbol.
Might be a good option.
The shape you make for the clipping mask ca be selected along with the and the option to aline to artboard chosen then center the two horizontally and vertical or just one direction.

Oh, yes once you have the masked art you can turn that art into a symbol s well place and position it anyway you want then if it has to be different fro the other sheets break the link to the parent symbol and make that a symbol as well.

I have a line (stroke, no fill) and an eps graphic. I'm trying to make a clipping mask of the single line art but all it does is cut the eps graphic instead of making a mask?

I have an eps graphic and a single line drawing 2 pt wt. I'm trying to make a clipping mask of the line drawing. When I tried it all that happened was the eps graphic was cut in half. I did the exact steps from AdobeTV except the line drawing [pink camera.ai*@1200% (CMYK/Outline)] is an ai pen line drawing instead of a vector graphic and the other is [vector flower lillies.eps @ 100% (RGB/Preview)]. If you need more info on the graphics please tell me where to find it and I will send it.
This is all because the eps graphic has a white background. I have tried everything I know including opening it in Photoshop and deleting the background and it always pastes with a white background. My thought was if I can't change the background then maybe I can make a clipping mask of the pink camera and just paste it in front.
Please help this has been a thorn in my side for too long...

please post a screen shot of the graphic(s) as it's hard to understand exactly what you are asking
IF these are 'vector' graphics there should be no need for a clipping mask--also--if the .eps files are small (MB or KB) try posting one of those

Making a Mask over a photo IN PSE11

I have just started using Elem. 11
I want to mask a photo.    In PSE7, I thought, I used to just have both layers, black mask on top, and push ctrl G.
Bam, I had it masked.   Now, I am dumb again and it won't work.
I seem to be allergic to manuals, they don't make sense to me.   I appreciate your time and help if you are able to.

By far the easiest method for what I was trying to do if anyone ever runs across this!!!
Clipping Masks
Open image you want to use - shape in my case (premade photo mask)
drag the photo on top of it - picture of my kid, adjust size so it all fits
With the photo layer still active, select Layer>Create Clipping Mask.

Making a mask file

I'd like to know how to make a new mask file for image processing. The old mask file is a U8 BMP file. We need to update our mask file from 24 cells to 36 cells. I am new to the vision programming. I hope to get some ideas from any of you. Does the image file need to be converted from a CAD file? Or Are there any special requirements on this file? Any reply will be appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi Jane,
Even though the help file for IMAQ Mask VI specifies that the mask file needs to be 8-bit, I have successfully mapped an image with the attached 32-bit file that I created in Paint. You do not need to convert the image from a CAD file. As long as you have the pixels you want to mask out set to zero (i.e., black), it will mask out those parts of the image once you apply the mask. You can find an example of this process in Help -> Find Examples... -> Toolkits and Modules -> Vision -> Functions -> Mask Example.vi

Difficulty making a book

When I select 'book' at the bottom of the iphoto window, the box comes up with no themes installed. I can name the book and select choose but everything else is grayed out. After selecting choose. I get the following error message: " *No Available Themes* There were no themes located. Until at least one theme has been installed, this feature will be unavailable."
I have looked at FAQ and help window to no avail. Any hints out there? Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You'll need to reinstall iPhoto as follows:
Restoring iPhoto Themes
1 - delete the current application.
2 - delete any files with iPhoto in the file name that reside in your HD/Library/Receipts folder.
3 - delete the Themes folder from your User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder.
Also look in the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder. If there is one there then delete it also.
5 - boot into the system disk that came with your computer and do a custom install selecting only iPhoto.
After installing reinstall the iPhoto 7.1.1 updater again followed by a repair of disk permissions with Disk Utility. Also make sure you're running the latest Quicktime, 7.3.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Eclipses refuses to allow me to return either intRes or dRes (or, indeed, 0), since they can't be cast into E. If I set intRes and dRes as E, then I can't use the Integer and Double methods.
Can this be made generic, or will I have to keep creating new methods for each primitive type?

How do I create a mask in Premiere Pro?

I am using Adobe Premiere Pro CS 5.5, on a late 2013 iMac. I would like to create a mask around a character in my video so I can put her on top of other videos (making the background for the video she's in transparent/invisible). I have seen tons of videos about making a mask, but it is just for text and isn't what I need since I need the character to move. Any tips?

Creating a mask in Compressor

We need to batch process a large number of files. They're going from PAL to 24p using Compressor. Video so far looks good. But because these originate on film, when scaled down to the size our client has specified, we need to add in masks on the left and right. The edges of the frame are not clean otherwise, and we want the mask to be pure black. We are using the following settings:
Geometry:
Source Inset:
Left 16
Right 14
Top 46
Bottom 44
Dimensions: 720x486
Output Image Inset (Padding):
Left 24
Right 24
Top 0
Bottom 0
This gets us exactly where we want to be, geometrically. We have been given a sample done by another company to match, and after much testing, this lines up pixel for pixel with their conversion. So far so good.
However, the black bars on the left and right of the frame on our version are not clean, nor are they pure black. looks like something around RGB 16-16-16.
We need to overlay a black mask on the output so that this comes out razor sharp and actually black. Is there any way to do this entirely in Compressor? Remember we have a large number of files to set up and we're looking for a way to automate this, preferably by simply selecting a compressor preset and letting it run overnight.

yes, it's called rotoscoping. What you're doing is not rotoscope, you are simply making a mask. Rotoscope is typically done by hand, frame by frame, espeically when the video that was shot was not created for that purpose as you would like ot use it.

Complicated Mask Causes Motion 3 to Slow then Crash

I have a very frustrating problem with Motion 3. I'm rotoscoping a person in a clip from FCP. Essentially, I'm making him color and the background B&W. Making the mask went fine and the first few frames keyframing were also fine. After a couple of minutes though, moving a control point became difficult. There was a noticable pause from the time when I clicked and dragged to the time when the control point actually moved. I have about 50 or so control points so the slowdown causes me to spend several minutes on each frame and since the person is moving, I have to keyframe EVERY frame over a several second clip.
After a few minutes of slowdown, Motion will crash on me. Sometimes there's a hint that it's about to crash (I'll move the mask, but the opaque part of the mask won't move to reflect the new position of the control points), sometimes it just shuts off. I've lost a TON of time restarting. Once restarted however, everything works great and the control points move instantly for a couple of keyframed frames, and then it starts slowing down again.
It kinda feels like the RAM on my system is just being held up until I run out and then the program crashes. Here are as many details as I can think of to offer.
Motion 3.0.2
Project Cache is set to 80% total memory
No other programs running.
Clips are DV/NTSC self-contained QT files exported from FCP
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256 vram

I've been making some titles and splash screens for a film I am making in Motion 3 and hit a brick wall when I started getting graphics card freezes and total system meltdowns. My MacBook has always been fine with motion and I depressingly attributed it to a bug when using extensive and complex masks (the composition contains loads of them) and multi-layered photoshop and illustrator media. I was convinced it wasn't my graphics card as everything else it does is fine. The nature of the comp meant I couldn't split the masks up and when I tried it crashed anyway.
It was then after persevering for a week that I managed to fix the problem. This might not be the case with you guys - I'm sure you have more idea than me, but I changed the project properties to an 8bit float and not a 32 bit one. I don't think I ever made a switch to 32bit and thought it was weird that it was 32bit in the Motion 3 file. After switching back to 8 the file runs really smoothly again without any problems and handles the masks as well as I was used to in Motion 2. I hope this helps anyone with the same problem in the future, I know it was a real pain dealing with the crashes and a really simple fix.

How do I make a photo move in a frame mask?

I have a photo of mountains that I want to pan slowly,
contained in a rectangular mask. I've got the photo moving okay,
but have not been able to make a mask layer make the 'hole' that I
want to contain the image as it moves.
How can I make a mask that will contain this animation? I see
there is an Adobe tutorial on just the opposite - making a mask
move while the image stays still, but that technique does not help
me do the opposite.
Any info or link to a tutorial would be appreciated.

2 vegas masks in same layer. wont seem to work?

I am having trouble with making my masks in the same layer rotate in vegas.
when i try to set rotation, then pull the time marker to e.g. 5 sek, and set it to 1x, it doesn't make any points between 0 and 5 sek.
I am fairly new to AE, but i have been troubleshooting for some time now, without finding my mistake(s).
Can you maybe try to take a look at my file, and see whats missing?

i haven't set rotation on this file(on any of the layers), but i have been trying to time it several times without luck.

Works without issues here, but of course setting both effects to render on transparent makes no sense since the second will eradicate the first. Set it to Over. also masks need to be set to None or else they will clip the layer of course, which can also make effects disappear.
