Difficulty opening a file pdf

I used Windows Vista Business and I upgraded Acrobat Reader 9 to Acrobat Reader X, after the upgrade I had the problem that the files pdf  loaded, they loaded with difficulty.
I thought that this was because the notebook is used to load programs than many hadthe log with errors so complex that it loaded with difficulty files in pdf,
Now I bought a new laptop with Windows 7 Professional, I loaded Acrobat Reader X although the notebook definitely clean, I have the same problem loading the pdf files. The files are loaded, but before there is a very lomg time (some seconds) that if you try to navigate on the open file, everything is blocked.
Then everything works. If I close and reopen the same file the same thing happens. If I keep Acrobat Reader X open and I open another pdf file the same thing happens.
Any suggestions? This delay does not happen with Acrobat Reader 9

Thanks a lot for the information.
Could you please see if any of the unsupported configurations as listed on the following page apply to you:

  • I am experiencing difficulties opening some web-based PDF files on my iPad. I was having the same difficulty opening the same PDFs on my iMac (after I upgrade to Yosemite) but was able to overcome it by adjusting the Adobe Reader plug-in settings.

I am experiencing difficulty opening some web-based PDF documents on my iPad. I had exactly the same difficulty on my iMac (after I upgraded to Yosemite) but was able to overcome it by adjusting the Adobe Reader plug-in security settings in Safari (in OSX).
Unfortunately there does not seem to be a way to similarity adjust the security settings in Safari in iOS 8.
The message I get when I attempt to open the PDF (on my iPad) is as follows:
"To view the full contents of this document you need a later version of PDF viewer. You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader from ..."
Needless to say this is unhelpful for two reasons:
    - I have the very latest version of Adobe Reader; and
    - in iOS Adobe Reader is not a plug-in and plays absolutely no role in opening web-based PDF documents.
If anyone has experienced this difficulty and has been able to overcome it I would be most appreciative to hear of you solution.
    Cheers

  • Difficulty opening some files in PSCS4 from Bridge.

Of late I've been having difficulty with trying to open some of my PSD and TIFF files from within Bridge. I have the same problem from the Open Recent sub menu under File. I get a notification that pops up saying it can't open the file "...due to program error." This is a fairly recent problem I'm having. Any ideas as to what is causing this?

  • I saw the responses on the page to opening and saving pdfs but it is cumbersome to shut down the function in Mozilla and work around it. Is there a fix coming?

Until the Firefox 23 update I had no difficulty opening or saving pdfs in Firefox, but since the most recent update (Firefox 23) I often get error messages about damaged files when I use the download button and try to open or save files. I've checked with another browser and they open or save fine. I've tried disabling the pdf but it is cumbersome. I am using MSWord 7 if that makes any difference. Is there a fix coming for this?

    Hello,
In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not open PDF files with Firefox's internal PDF reader), follow these steps:
#Go to ''Tools'' > ''Options'' (or ''Firefox'' > ''Options'').
#In the Options window, select the ''Applications'' tab.
#In the ''Search'' field, type ''PDF''. You should find ''Portable Document Format (PDF)''.
#On the right handside you should find an ''Action'' column. Use that to select Adobe Reader Plugin for Netscape (or something similar). Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • Get error message when trying to open a file in Adobe Indesign

    Hi,
I would appreciate some help here.
Just installed ID, and want to get started. When I try to open any file (pdf. jpg etc) I get the following message:
"Can´t open file. It might be that Adobe ID don´t support the file format, that the plug-in-module that supports the file format are missing, or that the file is open in another program".
I have tried ID on both my PC and Mac - the same error message is shown on both computers. It must be said that I am normaly as PS and AI user, and have not tried ID before. Maybe it is an easy solution to the problem, thus Adobe chat line could not help me.
I appreciate any help you can offer!

We all can learn from this. Whenever you get stuck in a customer-service situation that goes nowhere, as soon as you become aware of the futility, get the name and employee ID of the person, then say, "I don't mean to be rude, I think we're both wasting our time. Perhaps you weren't trained for this issue, or perhaps your system isn't displaying the correct information. It doesn't matter, because I'm not getting proper customer support this way. Please ESCALATE this to your highest-level manager IMMEDIATELY. If that person isn't availabe, ESCALATE me to that person's highest-level manager. If you haven't been given the proper training, you can use this to inform your manager that you need the training. Thanks for trying to help. I appreciate it. I have copied and saved this chat session. NOW PLEASE ESCALATE THIS CASE AS I HAVE REQUESTED ABOVE. I'm waiting now... "
The point is that you're a customer, and the company needs customers, so the individual who's failing to deliver good service needs to be identified so they can be properly trained, and so that problems in the system can also be identified, but more important is that you get the service you're entitled to.
If you search the forum for similar questions, you'll see the kind of information that the volunteer users like yourself on the forum need to know about your system and files involved, so they can help you better.
    Good luck.

  • Problem opening .zip files

I often have difficulty opening .zip files. I received one today. I know the content is images, it is 683MB, and when I click 'open with' the only opton is Photoshop CS5. However, I then get an error message saying Photoshop cannot open this type of file. I have stuffit expander, but that also results in an error message. I know sometimes archive utility (I think that's the name?) will open a zip file, but not in this case.
Is there a reliable app to that can be used? Any other suggestions?
    JB

If you want to relocate the Archive Utility to its usual location it resides at,
    Macintosh HD/System/Library/CoreServices
When moving it you will need to authorise the move with your Admin password. After that, running Repair Permissions would be a worthwhile thing as well.
If don't wnat to move it that's OK too, as it works for you, but if you want to be fussy, that's where it lives.

  • Allow Opening Of Non-PDF File Attachments With External Applications

If this is an Adobe initiative, then "grrrr, thanks a lot".  Or, is this something on our local end?
Lately we cannot open Excel (.xls or .xlsx) and Word documents (97-2003 or later versions) out of a PDF potfolio.  We upgraded to Reader 9.4.6 and I think it was around that time (maybe even 9.4.5) that this ability went away.  In the versions we have you cannot check "Allow opening on non-PDF....." as it is greyed out.  Is this where you allow .doc and .xls files to open?

I too am having difficulty after upgrading to 9.4.6, but I am unable to open PDF files from my web browser (both Chrome and IE). If I edit my preferences and allow the PDF to open in the browser window, I can see them, but opening the application from a web page does not work.
Turning pop up blocker off/on does not make a difference.
Other files seem to open fine.

you could try using the DDE package to open the file
and then print from the actual file location using a host command.

  • I have Windows 98 and need Acrobat to open up the pdf files for 5.0

I have the old system, Windows 98 and presently have the free Adobe 5.0 version on my Compaq Presario Computer, and it is a 5242 model desktop.
I have inadvertanly switched over to Compaq Carbon Copy 32 Version 5.0 but since, have uninstalled it and now, on each of what was the pdf files initially of which I have, of which is at least 16 or more, on each of those files, an error message comes up and says "PROGRAM NOT FOUND," and states the following: "Windows cannot find CCW32EXE. This program is needed for opening the pdf files." And then it has a dialogue box with the computer operational symbol in it as C:\ and then it wants me to locate it. I cannot locate it through the "auto" because, this sytem being so old, doesn't have a magnifying glass or a "search" tool to do this in the "My Computer Icon on the Desktop as the Compaq people wanted me to do. I would have to do this manually. I have already talked to the Compaq people on their chat line and because of this, they said they couldn't help me with this problem and referred me over to you.
I've tried to find a download for 5.0, though I really don't think I need one since it is currently installed. I believe the proper way to fix this is to just convert the CCW32EXE over to the Acrobat pdf files and have those files opened and should open up all of my 15 or so files altogether at the same time because they all converted over to something else at the same time prior.
Are you able to help me?
But I believe to alleviate this problem, if you could just give me the information to be able to open up the pdf files to 5.0 and find out what download I may pursue, it might be able to correct this problem. I already have the 5.0 Acrobat installed, however.

    Hi Aandi,
I have followed your directions and I have the old system of Windows 98, so I had to go to "programs" and come up to Acrobat 5.0 and once in there, all of the Window there is greyed out, although I can still go to the tool bars above in it. I went to "file" and went to "open" and from there, I received an "open" window with a dialogue box in it and in that dialogue box as I scrolled down, it wants me to put in there, one of the following, "desktop," "my documents," "3 1/2 floppy [A:]," "[C:]," "system _save [D:]," ""[E:," "[F:]," ete; of these which do I pick in the "open" dialogue box? and down at the bottom, is the FILE NAME and what do I put in there? Just below that, it has the FILES OF TYPE which has there Adobe pdf Files, in it's dialogue box. I hit these, but I still get an error message of which basically says, "NOT FOUND, please put in proper file name given." And I don't know actually where it is given.
So, as you see, I am a novice in all of this and you can contact me at my e mail address which is [email protected]
and should a reply be needed, I'll come back to the forum for a reply.
I really need to open up the Adobe 5.0 pdf files. All of the pdf files, simultaneously went over to Compaq Carbon Copy 32 of which I since, uninstalled. But I really need to get back and open the Adobe 5.0 pdf files.
And I want to thank you for your support and eagerly awaiting your help.
    Thanks,
Now, I did do one of the following: I went to C: which came to Acobat 3 and I hit that which came to Reader and I hit that which came to the following: ACROBAT which gave me ACTIVE X - BROWSER - FONTS - HELP - OPTIONAL - PLUG-INS

  • How to open and read pdf and micrsoft word (.doc) files or documents

My problem is how to use my BB 9800 software version 6.0.0.546 to read/view pdf files and microsoft office documents. I have also bought documents to go from online and have installed it on my phone, but whenever i try to open it I receive a message that it is incompactible. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi, Sammy.
Why not install a 3rd party PDF reader and Word Doc reader to help open and read pdf and micrsoft word (.doc) files or documents? You can google it and select one whose way of processing is simple and fast to help you with the related converting work.  It will be better if it is totally manual and can be customized by users according to our own favors. Remember to check its free trial package first if possible. I hope you success. Good luck.
