Difficulty posting question and finding appropriate forum

Apple needs to make it MUCH simpler to post a question to the discussion rooms.... every time I think I need help... I can never seem to find a way to post a question...and most often give up in frustration. I'm trying to find help in why games won't load at pogo.com..... but can't find a place to post the question....nor can I find a POST A NEW QUESTION button.... except here..... HELP!!!!

Here is a reason a lot of people miss it: it is posted in a tiny font size! Perhaps if it was in 12 point, it would be more visible.
Obviously there's some reason people miss it, but I can't imagine that's the reason. After all, the "Please Read ..." heading that leads into that explanation is hardly tiny:
Again, it's obvious there's some reason that people often miss it. I'd guess it has to do with being frustrated by whatever Apple-related problem led them here, causing them to skim over what's in front of them as quickly as possible to get to a place where they can post.
Whatever the cause, it's a known problem, and the Hosts and others have been trying to find a constructive way to solve it. Hence a brody's question, which I know was honestly intended to try to get to the root of this.

  • Unanswered questions and poorly managed forum?

I find myself on forums a lot when I cannot find answers to any problems I might have; sometimes even before I search through help files and manuals I'll go into the forums. I must say though, that this forum does a very poor job at answering questions. I'm not only speaking for myself. I've only asked maybe 2 or 3 questions, still which none have been answered (one I figured out on my own). But I've been searching through past topics as well only to see other people's problems going unanswered or given 1 measly reply and then abandoned.
I usually get replies to posts on other websites within days of posting. If it's not from another user than it's from some sort of administrator. With a company like Apple, which I preach has the best customer service out of every company I've ever dealt with, I'm surprised customers aren't met with the same respect in the forums. Granted, this is user based and relies on other customers helping customers, I just think the forum could be better managed somehow.
I guess I'm just seeing if any one else is seeing this same thing going on in this forum. I may just be new and there's a certain way things work but to me something seems wrong. You tell me.

Also keep in mind who visits the forums. Apple just provides the space but otherwise is pretty hands-off about who posts, so anybody answering your questions is a self-declared volunteer. I am not an IT person at all. I have learned a bit about computers through using them. Probably only about half of the posts to which I respond do I actually know the answer in advance. The rest I usually answer because the topic caught my interest and I did on the spot research myself (it is surprising how much a general web search can reveal) and found an answer. Anyway, I may spend 10-30 minutes of my own time researching an answer to somebody's question. I haven't even looked at your questions so I can't make any comment about them, but honestly some questions are just beyond my abilities and maybe I'm not alone. At that stage you are depending more and more upon a smaller number of real experts and the time they are willing to donate. If you look at some forums 90% of the answers are provided by just a handful of respondents and I guess even IT volunteers need to eat and sleep.
Many of the questions I see unresolved* after a day or so are either requiring a very specific familiarity with an issue, or are poorly worded with very little background (the, "My computer isn't working, tell me what is wrong," but that's all the information they provide and it could even be unplugged.) Sometimes I'll chip in what I know and if doesn't solve the problem, well I'm out of answers and people have to realize that.
    * When I say "unresolved" I am not talking about flagging which is up to the individual poster as to if, when, and how they decide to flag.

  • Quicktime Player Issue (Can't find appropriate forum)

What should I do in order to get sound playing off .avi files? My Quicktime Player (Pro) says I should go download a codec, but it just brings me to the web site and never says which. There doesn't seem to have any codec suitable for the purpose. What should I do?

    I would start with Perian.

  • ImageIO and finding appropriate writers...

the write methods in ImageIO return a boolean value to say whether an approprate writer was found for the given format. Is there a method somewhere for just returning this boolean value for a given image format?
    E.g. something like canWrite(String formatName)
    Cheers.

  • Trying to post my question and being denied, why?

I had an incident happen on my MacBook Pro and needed help with it. I created my question and clicked POST. After I clicked POST nothing happened and it appeared my question did not post. I thought something went wrong with posting my MacBook Pro question. I checked my activity page and looked for my new entry and it was not listed. I went back and tried to post again. This time I was sent a pink banner that read "You are not allowed to create or update this content." At the bottom of my question box it said "Auto-saved" with the date and time listed. I am confused now. I have searched all over looking for my question. It's no where. What has happened to my posted question? Why am I being denied access to it?

The Forum is haunted with glitches, you ran in to two. If you get the you can't post message first refresh the page if that doesn't work try a little later. If you get the message auto-saved versions etc,. tap recover or type a new question. If you find your question is in the wrong Forum reply to yourself and ask if someone will ask a host to relocate your post.

  • A way to find my previous questions and problem reports?

Is there a way on this forum to find my previous questions and problem reports? Since posting a question earlier today, I've found MOST of the answer and would therefore like to append what I found to the question, without waiting for someone else to answer it. I don't remember the title I gave the earlier question, or I'd use that title in searching for it.
The troubleshooting information below is more relevant to a previous problem than this question.
