Difficulty printing a color page

I cannot print an answer sheet for an exam I am taking this morning.

And what exactly means "cannot"?

  • In CS2 for XP Pro on Ricoh 811 Printer, Miscounting Color Pages

We are using a Ricoh Aficio SP C811DN to print booklets composed in InDesign CS2 4.0.5 for Windows. The booklets are black and white interior with a color cover. Although the interior pages have no color content, the printer counts every sheet of the document as a color print (for which we pay much more per our lease agreement).
When queried, Ricoh insists the problem is InDesign telling the printer that the entire document is color, rather than sending the color/black & white attribute on a page-by-page basis. Some of our mixed K/color documents (but not all), when made into a PDF and then printed from Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0.8, are counted properly by the printer.
Does anyone know how to manage the attribute in InDesign that Ricoh claims is causing the miscount?
Thanks for any help you can provide,
    Dan Gregory

    Case Closed for Now...
I've just made another document with the same specifications (booklet with color cover and K interior) and, out of InDesign, the Ricoh printer is counting properly. I have no idea why this one worked and the last did not. The last document that had this issue I had to convert to two separate PDFs (cover and interior) and then merge the two in Acrobat Pro. That counted properly even when the InDesign version did not. But because of my workflow I'm trying to cut out any extraneous steps. I would still recommend people steer clear of this model Ricoh, particularly with the booklet finisher -- it has been nothing but a fickle pain from day 1 and definitely not a machine for a busy office.
Thanks everyone for responding, and if anyone knows the answer to the initial question (is there a way to have InDesign mark individual pages with color or K attributes separately) I'd still like to hear.

  • Why doe's my 8500A printer use color ink when printing black and also when unit is cleaning

I only print in black. I am required to buy all the colors because my printer will not operate when any cartridge is empty.
I was informed at Office Depot that all printers operate this way.  According to them it also uses ink when it goes through
    the cleaning cycle.
The XL ink package at Office Depot  (black, yellow, cyan, magenta) is $97.00 + tax.
I hope someone has a logical answer why this is set up this way.
Why do I need colors to print black?

The 8500A takes 4 ink cartridges and 2 printheads (one for black/yellow, and another for the other two colors). This design is so that you have have larger ink cartridges (stationary on the side, the printer only moves the printhead during printing). A drawback is, you have to have all the cartridges in, without the ink cartridges, the printheads could be damaged and would cost more to replace.
Printing black text uses black ink only, it does not use color ink. The "Clean printhead" function does print a color page and uses color ink, but you only need to do this when you notice lines missing (printhead clogged) in the printout.
If you print mostly black only, choose a model that uses cartridges that has a printhead built in. These printers typically can still print black with color ink out.

  • HP Color Laserjet 1600 cannot print in color with Pages 09

    Hi, everybody!
I got a huge problem for me that the HP Color Laserjet 1600 cannot print in color with Pages 09 after I upgrade to 10.6.1. It worked very well in 10.5.8. Since there is no official driver from HP website for 1600, so I used foomatic/foo2hp as the driver.
It is very strange that I can print in color with Safari and Preview in 10.6.1, but cannot with Pages 09. When I print with Pages 09, it always shows that the print job was completed but my printer was nothing happened.
I just re-install the 10.6 OS "complete new", install the printer driver with the instructions on this forum.
It would be high appreciated if somebody can help me on it!

Why doesn't MAC just give us the driver for the HP Color Laserjet 1600? It's one of the most popular home based business laserjets. It's the one I use and a lot of other people in business use it so I'm at a loss as to why they don't.
I bought my MAC Pro tower for video editing and I can't print from it and have had to reinstall the OS on it once already because Safari wouldn't open a window. So much for the MAc advertising statement of "We're so much easier to use."
After spending close to $10,000 on MAC equipment, Tower, Laptop, Monitor, etc. if they think I'm going to spend more for a new printer just because I can't get a driver to print they're thinking wrong. I going to re-think my new cell phone purchase too. Has anyone had software issuses with their phones before I go out and buy one?

  • Does anyone know how to print in color on a pages on Pages on a MacBook Pro?

I have a project that I need to print out, and I recently just got a MacBook Pro, so I'm not 100% acquainted to Pages. SO PLEASE HELP!!!!

Any application can print in color, which is the default, if a color-capable printer is configured and accessible by the Mac. It is no different than printing in B/W.
Just make sure the printer is set up correctly so the Mac knows what it can do and how to drive it. If you want more help in the set up department, you'll have to provide more info as to what printer(s) you have.

  • Printer regonizes Black/white page as color page

When we print a Word document to a PDF file with the Acrobat printer, pages that contain only Black/White information but with an image that looks as if it is Black/White, the printer recognizes the page as a color page. When we print this page with Word directly to the printer, the page is recognized as a Black/White page.
Are there color setting available which control the setting for gray scale images to be printed Black/White?

    Leo,
choose for default settings a joboption set which
    contains for output
    Settingsfile: None
Color Management: Leave Color Unchanged (!)
    Results:
Source sRGB (color): PDF color 3x8 bits
    OK
Source Grayscale: PDF gray 1x8 bits (Indexed)
    OK
Source sRGB (gray) with R=G=B: PDF gray 1x8bits (Indexed)
    Very wrong.

  • Color LaserJet 2605dn for wireless printing, it keeps printing the first page over & over

When I use my Color LaserJet 2605dn for wireless printing, it keeps printing the first page over & over again.  I have to cancel print job on the printer in order to stop it.   It works properly on the computer that is directly wired to it, but won't on any other computer that I try to print from.   I have had this problem for some time, but now have certain thing that I must print from this printer & can't do it wirelessly.  It doesn't seem to be my network, because I can print from all of the other computers onto other wireless printers I have in the office.

  • Color toner consumption on M476dw when printing only black pages?

I purchased a M476dw about a month ago.  After printing the color demo page a few times and one or two color prints, and then until I changed the default settings there were a few pages printed with "accent color". Other than that, I've only been printing black pages since then.
The supplies report says I have 70% left on my black cartridge (pages printed 310 estimated remaining 750), and 90% remaining on all three color cartridges ( (pages printed 33 estimated remaining > 1000)
I realize these are just estimates, but I am surprised that 33 pages of printing almost all of which were just accent color has resulted in 10% of the color cartridges consumed.
I have printer plugged directly into the wall and leave it on all of the time, so no surplus cleaning cycles are being generated, and my default printing mode is:  black & white / Print in grey scale.
I realize the supplied cartridges are "starter" cartridges but still are there any other factors under MY control on color toner consumption?
    Thanks!
    Jim

I have the same problem that you. I have a spool order in SAP (Purchase Order) and when the user try to print it a column appears in black boxes.
The printer model is Esker Fax Server and the Device Type is SWIN.
The Purchase Order layout have been created with a smartform, I have review the shading for this field and it's correct (0%). And when I preview the PO in me23n the column is correct, without black boxes.

  • Printing light-colored text from a Web page

On a Web page that contains some light-colored text (such as the Apple Store MacBook models page <http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?nnmm= browse&node=home/shop_mac/family/macbook&sf=wHF2F2PHCCCX72KDY>), is it possible to have the light gray text print darker? When I print such pages on my color laser printer, that gray text is almost too faint to see. Thanks for any pointers.

    Welcome to the Forums!
Depends mostly on the printer you are using, which will determine the settings available. In the Print dialog box, click on the pop-up menu that shows as Copies & Pages. Look for options that deal with color. For example, an inkjet printer I have shows a Color Management setting, with an option for "pure black and white" - that setting would print the light gray text as black. On the other hand, for an HP Color Laser printer, the Color Options doesn't provide any settings that are useful for what you want to do (even under the advanced options). The best I could find was in ColorSync (that choice will be present for all printers), choose "Lightness Decrease" from the Quartz Filter pop-up menu. That seems to darken the printed gray text a little bit.
    Hope this helps...

  • Printing multiple copies of "Crayola Daily Coloring Pages"

I have set up my printer (HP Photosmart 7520 series) for a daily delivery of "Crayola Daily Coloring Pages".
This is one of the printable Apps available in HP catalog.
Currently, I get one copy auto-printed every morning.
    Question:
How can I set up for an automatic delivery of 2 or more copies?
    Thanks!

Hi there, unfortunately there is no provision to schedule the app to receive more than one copy automatically. The closest workaround would be to manually run off additional copies using the printers copying function. Not ideal I know if you want them in a hurry and don't want to have to wait.
    Best.

  • HP Photosmart c4780 refusing to NOT print in color.

    Hey guys, first time poster.
I generally consider myself to be tech savvy, but I have run into a bit of a problem. I am trying to fix my girlfriend's parent's printer, and it is giving me the most peculiar issue.
It is an HP Photosmart C4780, wireless, all-in-one, so on and so forth.
You see, when I try to print - anything - it comes out in color, regardless of if I select Black & White. The only issue is though, when I look it up online to try and find the issue, no one seems to have it. Most people have difficulty with their printers not printing black, but this one is printing black fine. It just also seems to print in color. I ran a cartridge clean through the settings, and it printed up a bunch of black letters, and then a bunch of colored boxes, yet when I try to print from both Firefox and Chrome, the images come out colored.
I thought, just to make sure, to try printing with "black," and "color" and both pages come out in color.
I have removed both cartridges and re-placed them, and still no change. I have tried updating the software on the computer, and still, to no avail. I've run an alignment check, I've printed a Printer Status Report, and still nothing.
Anyone know what the issue might be? Both cartridges are brand new (well... all this experimenting has probably done a little bit of damage, haha.) and show full levels on the estimation check. Please help! :]

    Hi @NovemberRain17,
Welcome to the HP Forums, and thanks for reaching out! I am happy to help.
You are right, this is kinda peculiar!  have you tried selecting grayscale, black ink only?
In your software application, click Print.
Select your printer from the list of available printers.
Click the option that opens the Printer Properties dialog box. Depending on your software application, this option might be called Printer Properties, Options, Printer Setup, Printer, or Preferences.
Click the Features tab or Color tab, click the Grayscale drop-down menu, and then click Black Ink Only.
Click OK, and then click Print to start the print job.
Please let me know if this does the trick or not. Please use the thumbs up below if you are pleased with my efforts If the issue persists, I will gladly do all I can to assist you!

  • HP Laserjet 2550L Won't Print In Color

I recently upgraded to Leopard, and now my HP Laserjet 2550L will not print in color. I've tried printing for several different apps, but they always come out in b & w. It does however print in color when printing a test page from the printer itself, so it must be a driver issue.
Currently I'm running with the "HP color Laserjet 2550 series" driver available via PPDPicker. I've also tried several other drivers listed there to see if by chance one of them would work, but to no avail. I downloaded and tried installing HP Laserjet v5.5.2.051 from HP's website, but I can't get it to install. Actually this driver doesn't even show up in PPDPicker, because for some reason it saves as a text file, which seems weird since the dmg file is about 17mb.
Anyway, this has been driving me nuts all night, so if anyone has a solution or suggestion, I'm all ears.
    Thanks.

I see you are having a print quality issue, no color on page, with your M251nw Laserjet.  You changed the toner cartridges and the printer is still not printing in color.  Have you tried taking all the color toner cartridges out of the printer and reseating them to make sure they are secure in their positions?
As well, I would advise taking a look at the document linked below.  It will walk you through the process for troubleshooting a print quality issue with this printer.

  • How can I get my printer to print in color? I can only print black and white

HP Officejet 6500 E710n-z-------windowsxp      My printer will not print anything in color.   How can Iget my printer to print in color?  I can only print in black and white.    It is a new Printer and we just installed it 2 wks ago.

I am not sure I understand ''it still will not print. ''
If you cannot see any content on pages you printed or in print preview, the cause might be margins which are set too high.
#In order to check the margins, we need to go to ''File'' > ''Page Setup''.
#Once this is done, switch to the ''Margins & Header/Footer'' tab.
#Check what's set there under ''Margins''.
The following are the default values for ''Margins'':
    '''Right''': 12.7
    '''Top''': 12.7
    '''Left''': 12.7
    '''Bottom''': 12.7
Check these values accordingly and change them if necessary.
