Difficulty sending e-mail photos

Hello,
I get error messages when trying to send photos from my iPhone.
Specifically: I take a picture and then use the feature to send it immediately via e-mail. Then the e-mail and attached photo languish for hours in the Outbox and I get errors saying the "connection to the outgoing server failed." However, within a few hours, the e-mail and photo are delivered successfully. This happens while I'm on AT&T Edge or connected to a wireless network.
I have tried numerous Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) settings. I tried using the Comcast setting since I have cable internet thru them. I tried using the "roam" setting given to me from my internet service provider in California where I get/send my e-mail. I currently use the cwmx.com setting given to me from Apple. All do the same thing. The mail sits in the Outbox for hours, I get error messages, then the e-mail is delivered. Ideally, the mail/photo would be sent out immediately.
Is this a common problem? Is there a solution?
Thank you.

Bringing back up to the top to see if any one can answer due to having the exact same problem. I can not send a picture in an e-mail via my AOL account. Can anyone tell me what might be causing the problem and how to fix it?
Thanks ~

  • Is There a size limitation for sending e-mail photos

I am using the latest version of MS Entourage and my mail account is with .MAC
Yesterday I highlighted two pictures in iphoto and clicked the e-mail icon but was then unable to send the mail. I got an error message. I deleted one of the phtos and still got the error.
I then discovered the size dialog box and clicked "small" and was able to send one photo.
I can receive mail with up to 20 attached Jpg items, But can't forward the same e-mail message. Is there a size limitation in Entourage or in .mac.
    Thanks

There is no such limit with Entourage or Apple's Mail application but email account providers have an overall message size limit for received and sent messages.
.Mac has an overall message size limit of 10 MB for received and sent messages which is a typical limit but I have a few friends and business associates who have a smaller overall message size limit of 5 MB. Although I can send a message that is up to 10 MB in size with my .Mac account, the message will not be accepted by the incoming mail server for the friends and business associates with a 5 MB message size limit.
All files attached to a message must be encoded before being sent and decoded when received. Most email clients such as Entourage and Mail use MIME for attachment encoding/decoding which is the internet standard. A problem with MIME is it isn't very efficient. The encoding process increases the size of the pre-encoded file by roughly 50% of so. A file that is 5 MB in size (pre-encoded) will be roughly 7.5 MB in size due to the encoding process.
What was the exact error message provided?

  • Difficulty sending e-mail to group

Attempting to send E-mail to group of approximately 12 people. Get two error messages as to why the message can't be sent:  "(1) Message not sent sent SCC1203 and (2) message not sent SCC1204 followed by the name of one of the people I was attempting to send the E-mail to. In the second case I determined that I must have the incorrect E-mail address.  Is there an easy way to correct the error so  I can get this accomplised?    Thank you foryour help.

Both error codes means there is something wrong with the email address you are sending to.  Check the email addresses and look for a typo too.  While it could be a wrong email address, sometimes it is something as simple as an extra period, double letter, etc.

When attempting to send email photos on my iPhoto 11, I keep getting the message  " THE EMAIL SERVER DIDN'T RECOGNIZE YOUR USERNAME/PASSWORD COMBINATION". However, I already have this info in my preferences/account section.  What is the problem and
    how can it be fixed???

The usual fix: Delete the account from your Preferences and Re-Enter it.

  • How do I send e-mail/photo from a PC to a Verizon iPhone whose owner has no PC?

I would like to send photos to an elderly person who has no PC but who has an iPhone with Verizon as its carrier. A friend of mine who had a Blackberry through Sprint had that possibility; he had an address like [email protected] and the message would go directly to his Blackberry phone. Is there such a possibility with Verizon?

If they have an iPhone, why not just send it to their email address? (which is what you would do it they had a PC)
Alternately, if you know their phone number, you can send it to [email protected]
Note that the BlackBerry example you gave is an instance of that user having a BlackBerry email address on their BlackBerry.  Not really applicable to someone with an iPhone. If they had a BlackBerry on Verizon, they might have a corresponding Verizon email address, but not with an iPhone.

  • Difficulty sending e-mails via Thunderbird to addresses at yahoo.co.uk

We have recently discovered that e-mails we have sent to friends with addresses that end @Yahoo.co.uk have NOT been received, despite Thunderbird confirming the messages were sent and we have not received any Undeliverable message alerts. Once we were aware of the problem we sent 4 e-mails to one of our friends and they only received 2 of them, another friend was sent 7 e-mails and only received 2 of them! What is annoying us is that we cannot tell when or if an e-mail has really been delivered to a Yahoo.co.uk e-mail address. We run a small business and we cannot afford to loose business because our e-mails don't get through!
To date we have only become aware of this problem with Yahoo e-mail addresses, but maybe it affects other servers?
Please can you help - what can we do to be certain our e-mails really do get through?
    Many thanks,
    Ian Lister

  • How can one send email-sized photo files as attachments in Mail, without the photos appearing within the email?s

How can one send email-sized photo files as attachments in Apple Mail, without the photos appearing in the body of the email?  If it can be done, it's not at all obvious, at least not to me.  Thanks for any help you can provide.

The "View as icon" option shrinks the photo to an icon in the sender's Apple Mail, but how it appears to the recipient varies dependingy on what e-mail client he/she uses.
Using Apple Mail 5.0 (the Lion version) at both ends, the sender can use the "View as icon" option to shrink his view of the photo to an icon, but the recipient also using Apple Mail 5.0 still sees the full photo in line with the message text. The recipient can then use the "View as icon" option to shrink it to an icon, but I don't think that's not what jackofarabia is looking for.
As far as I know there is no way in the current Apple Mail to do what jackofarabia wants. There should be, but there isn't.

  • Have difficulty sending mail from iPad 2

I am having difficulty sending an e-mail from my iPad 2. I am using Telus as my server and I can't find a solution?

Thanks for contributing your answer and welcome to Apple Discussions!
Pointing out deficiencies in someone's posts is not necessarily insulting and you'll have to take it as an article of faith that when I do set out to be deliberately insulting there is no ambiguity involved. I also do not agree that pointing out those deficiencies is not helpful, as I believe they are: While OP will not have his question answered (nor, indeed, could he have done), both he and others reading the thread might come away with the idea that a bit more care and attention taken in the writing up of their questions will immediately result in more and better and quicker responses and solutions to them.
I'm glad, as we all are, that your solution worked for you and, unlike the vast majority of newer users here, you did at least take the trouble to post it up and share it. Let me ask you, though: What do you plan on doing when OP (stands for Original Poster, btw) comes back with the common, "Yeah, I tried that, it didn't work, what else should I do?" response? Make a few more guesses? Ask a few more questions? Shrug and move along?
The following is the alternate boilerplate that I quite frequently toss up in these sorts of situations which, funnily enough, will also occasionally generate the same sort of reproving responses:
I don't understand what you're saying. Please try the following if you'd like to save yourself and others a lot of time:
Describe what you are trying to do
Describe how you are trying to do it, in as much detail as you can.
Describe what you expect to see or have happen when you do it that way
Describe what you see or what happens instead of what you expected; include any error messages that appear.
Provide some idea of what you have already looked at or already tried doing to fix the problem, along with the results of those attempts.

  • When away from home on vaction can I send e-mail and photo and print them out after I get home?

I tried to print my e-mail I send from and photo when I was on vacation but it didn't work. Does the printer have to be on the whole time from this to work? It not saved on hp server someplace? The t.v. makes it sound so easy to do!!!!
That one reason I got it!!!

    Hi,
The printer does need to be turned on for them to print. If you turn it off the printer will not print the pictures and the eprint server will only keep the prints for 24 hours. The unit has a sleep mode for this very reason

  • Remove geo-tag from iPhone photos when sending via Mail

I sometimes send companies/people photos I've taken with my iPhone. It is convenient to take them, and send them.
However, I've noticed that the geo-tag is not stripped from the photos when sent via Mail.app
Technically, one could figure out where I live with it — not comfortable with that. I like the feature for my collection in iPhoto, but nowhere else. Facebook strips it out (smartly).
Any suggestions apart from using 3rd party apps?

Thanks guys, but I know I can disable it for future pictures — but I want to keep it for most pictures, but also feel safe that when I'm sharing them, that this information is stripped out.
Any ideas apart from 3rd party apps?
    Maybe a feature request, no?

  • Sending mail - photo attachment error ...relaying

I just got my I4, when trying to send a mail, I get an error message "cannot send mail. A copy has been placed in your outbox. the recipient "xxx" was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying"

This sounds like an MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) problem.
Are you connected to the internet with your MacBook Pro via a direct ethernet connection to your Cable or DSL modem or thru a wired/wireless router connected to same?
The default MTU setting for OS X is 1500 which is the highest available. Some ISPs specify a different/slightly lower MTU setting such as 1492. If so, this will prevent you from sending larger messages or messages that contain attachments but text only messages will send with no problem.

  • Problems e-mailing photos

When I try and email photos from iphoto I get the following message  "The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination".  I have no problem sending e-mail directly from the e-mail program but I can't attach photos.  This seems to be since my upgrade to icloud last weekend but that may be just a coincidence.

Nope, no issues. Note it will not show up in your Outbox or Sent items right away. It will finally show up in your Sent Items only once it fully sent it. It may show up in your Outbox but only if it fails and comes up with an error messages saying it failed thus moved it to your Outbox.
The Photos app sort of has it's own email code and thus doens't show up in your Outbox or Sent right away. But does show up in Sent once it is done. It is also why if you send one pic then try to send another (before the other has finished) it will have Email Photo disabled. It can only do one at a time.
