Difficulty syncing audiobook on to ipod

I just downloaded an audiobook to iTunes.  When I went to manually sync it on to my iPod I received a message that I was not authorized on my computer.  But my other audiobooks have synced fine.  Any ideas? Thank you!

When your iPod is connected to iTunes, look on the Device/Summary screen, is the box named *Sync only ticked songs and videos* ticked (checked)?
Also, are the songs in your Music library still ticked (checked)? That's the default.

  • Audiobook sync issue with 2 ipods on ONE account... how to???

Hi, I have 2 ipods connected to my mac which we only use one account.
The problem I have just discovered is if we sync audiobooks to one ipod, start listening to it and then we sync that book on the other ipod the history of of where you were at in the progress of ''reading" is lost as it now keeps track of where the most recent listener is.
I know I can resolve this by creating two user accounts but I would like to avoid this if possible.
Is there a way to sync the SAME audiobook on 2 ipods without loosing the history of progress while only using ONE account.
Please feel free to ask me to clarify if needed.

I noticed that I have a protected audiobook file downloaded from iTunes. It was a free download.
So I tried making a duplicate in the same folder where the original file was kept. When I dragged the duplicate to the iTunes window, I got a second listing for the book (in iTunes). Checking the +Get Info+ for each instance of the audiobook, I saw that each one was for a different file (original and duplicate).
If your iTunes does not act this way, it may be one of the preference settings. Go to iTunes Preferences Advanced pane General tab. I have +Keep iTunes Music folder organized+ checked. I do NOT have +Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library+ checked. If you have that second option checked, when you drag the duplicate file to the open iTunes window, it may see the file is already there and not do anything OR it may replace the original file and therefore not create a second listing in iTunes.

  • I downloaded an audiobook to my computer but now cannot sync it with my IPod.  How do I get it over to my Ipod?

How do I get the downloaded audiobook from my computer library over to my IPod?  It's not their even after I sync the Ipod.  Help!!

It's not their even after I sync the Ipod.
If you want to use automatic syncing (not the manual method), you need to set up syncing for audiobooks.
Select the iPod in iTunes (click the "device button" on the horizontal bar in iTunes 12).  On the iPod's Summary settings screen, in the sidebar, under Settings, click Audiobook.  To the right, check the box for Sync Audiobooks, and set up the iPod's Audiobooks settings screen to tell iTunes how to sync audiobooks to the iPod.  Then click Apply.
NOTE:  If you use the manual method to load songs on the iPod, you do not want to set up automatic syncing.  You probably want to also load audiobooks manually.  Please reply back if this is your situation.

  • Why do I need to create playlists to sync audiobooks correctly?

When I try to just sync audiobooks to my iPod, I get a jumble of tracks. I have to create each audiobook as a playlist, and then add the playlists. Also, I had to designate each audiobook as such (instead of music) but in the grid view, each one was still categorized as music and it was impossible to change them. Only in list view could I change each track and have it "stick." I have been messing with syncing my iPod for over an hour now, when it should be an easy procedure.

Unfortunately, organazing audiobooks is a bit trickier than it needs to be.  See this excellent article from another forum member turingtest2 for more information and tips.

  • Auto-syncing Audiobooks.

    Hello,
Thanks for taking the time to read my question.
Is there a way of auto-syncing Audiobooks to an iPod other than having them all synced across? At the moment I'm manually managing music and video which means I can just copy the few audiobooks I want at any given time but I would like to be able to take advantage of play counts/ratings on the music side since I do 99% of all my listening on my iPod touch.
I would very much welcome any tips.
    Much obliged.

I don't have audiobooks checked in the 'Music' tab
Most likely because there is no audiobooks to check in the music tab unless you created a playlist with audiobooks.
Click the Audiobooks tab and uncheck everything.

Hmm.. Thank you for the response.
Have you tried using the iPod with another user account or computer, to help narrow down whether the problem lies with the computer, account, or the iPod itself?
Maybe try reformatting it, using the tools provided by Windows. Instructions on how to reformat your iPod can be found in this article.

  • IPod Classic refuses to sync Audiobooks

My iPod and iTunes now refuse to sync Audiobooks. Problem occurred when I bought a new book on iTunes. Refused to sync it. As I've experimented I've discovered that it refuses to sync any of my audiobook library except 1 book.
    So far, I've tried:
1)Authorizing the computer by highlighting the books and going to Store->Authorize
    2) Playing the books in iTunes and then syncing
    3) Restoring the iPod and re-downloading everything
    4) Telling it to sync all Music from the Music tab
    5) Telling it to sync only specific playlist and includes audiobooks
Any ideas? At this point I'll wave a rubber chicken over the darn thing if you think it will help.
    Thx.

I have the iPod Classic also.  Last week for the first time in months, I purchased a song and also created a new Playlist.  I have yet to be able to get them onto my iPod.  After my purchase, I received an email from iTunes to see how my purchase went.  I let them know all of my problems.  They wrote back with all of these links for me to try and solve the problem -- from deactivating and reactivating my laptop, etc -- and none of those suggestions work.  This is ridiculous.  I remember "the good old days" when all I had to do was connect my iPod to my laptop and it synched automatically.  This company must get pleasure in frustrating its customers.

  • IPod Nano WONT sync audiobooks

I am using a iPod Nano 5th generation and it wont sync audiobooks. I have restored my iPod twice and still the problems remain. Podcasts and everythign else syncs but audiobooks. Does anyone have any ideas? The audiobooks were downloaded from the apple store so not sure as to why they no longer will sync. They play just fine on my Mac.
    John

Make sure your audiobooks are configured to sync to your iPod from under its Books configuration tab in iTunes.  To access this tab, plug your iPod in and click on it when it appears under Devices in the left hand pane of iTunes. This will bring you to the iPod's Summary tab.  Locate the Books tab and select it.  Here you can configure how and what audiobooks sync to your device.

why am i receiving the message "ipod could not be synced because connection to ipod was lost" when trying to transfer a downloaded library audiobook to my ipod, please?

    - Reboot the computer
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Try another cable. !
    - Try another USB port
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

  • If I import audio books into the music section of itunes it lists the books as albums and all the chapters as tracks fine when I sync them to my ipod classic, but not if I import them as audiobooks, any ideas please?

If I import audio books into the music section of itunes it lists the books as albums and all the chapters as tracks fine when I sync them to my ipod classic, but not if I import them as audiobooks and then sync them, any ideas please?

If you import the audiobook as an audiobook to your iTunes Library, it will be listed in the Books section of your Library. You may need to turn on Books in order to see them. If you cannot see the File/Edit... etc. menu, use CTRL B on your keyboard to make that menu bar appear. Then go to Edit/Preferences>Books and put a tick in the box.
But, if the imported audiobook shows up in the Music section of your iTunes Library, highglight the files (in iTunes) and select File/Get Info/Options/Media Kind>Audiobook. These files will now transfer to the Books section of iTunes.
Once on an iPod Classic, look under the Audiobooks menu. Again, you may need to change the settings in the Settings menus, in order to have the Audiobooks option shown on the Main Menu and/or the Music Menu.

  • I have tried syncing an audiobook to my Ipod Classic 160GB...

...but it refuses to transfer from my Library!  I have tried restarting my computer, restarting my Ipod, unplugging it and plugging it back in, resetting my Ipod - you name it.  I have tried manually dragging the book file from my desktop to my Ipod icon in iTunes, but still nothing, and it has that crossed-out zero logo with it when I try to move it.  It is in my Library, like I said, but just won't move to my device.  Any suggestions you have would be most appreciated.

It sounds like your iPod is set up to automatically sync content from iTunes.  And if that is the case, you'll want to double check to make sure your iPod is set up to sync audiobooks from under the iPod's Books configuration tab/pane in iTunes.
To access this tab, plug your iPod in and when it appears in iTunes, click on it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane.  This will bring you to the Summary tab.  Locate the Books tab along the top and select it.  Under this tab, make sure the Sync Audiobooks (or Books) option is ticked.  Then configure any additional settings below that.  Then hit the Apply/Sync button in the lower right hand corner to sync the changes to your iPod.
