Difficulty transferring songs from itunes to ipod

Hi
I have been using my ipod and itunes for a few years and have rarely met a problem that i couldn't find an answer to.
This however is very frustrating and i cannot solve, when plugging my ipod into my computer, it appears in itunes and begins to 'sync' music from itunes to my ipod.
However it will sometimes only upload a quarter, or half of the songs on my itunes and then say 'ok to disconnect'.
On other occasions it will say itunes cannot read ipod and it will make me restore my ipod. On some occasions it will transfer all but 100 of my songs, then i plug it in again and only 5 will transfer. All of my songs will play in itunes and itunes recognises all of my songs need to be transferred, but will still say 'ok to disconnect' on itunes and on the ipod even though only half the songs have transferred.
It has me baffled, i have tried installing the newest and older versions of itunes, i have tried changing the letter of the drive from E: to G: i have read itunes support and scanned the forums and i can not find an answer. This has only just occured after 3 or so years of using itunes and ipod.
Please help, any thoughts or ideas would be much welcome as this is driving me insane!
Thanks

Ditto that. I wonder why. Hm, anyway, I'm calling the 800 when I wake up tomorrow. I'll post an answer if they help me at all.

  • Transferring songs from ITunes to IPod Nano

I have IPod Nano 5th Generation, and the latest IMac operating system.
Had no problems until today, because yesterday I downloaded the brand new ITunes 11.0 (163). Trying to transfer songs from ITunes to my IPod Nano. Not sure if I should submit this question in the ITunes section or the IPod Nano section, so did both.
ITunes used to - until today - show my device (IPod Nano and its playlists) on the left side column of ITunes, above the ITunes playlists. So I could just click on a ITunes song on one of the ITunes playlists and drag that song into one of the IPod Nano playlists above it. Now with this new version of ITunes nothing shows up on the left side, so I have no way of dragging songs from ITunes to IPod Nano. An IPod Nano icon does appear on my desktop, but clicking on it or its contents does not show any IPod Nano playlists. I could click on the IPod Nano icon on my desktop and then click on "all files" on top. There is an area that shows all the IPod Nano songs (I think),  but it does not show the IPod Nano playlists.
    1) How do I get the IPod Nano playlists to show?
    2) Please advise how to transfer songs from ITunes to IPod Nano playlists when using this new ITunes 11.0.
    3) If this cannot be done, is there a way for me  to go back and reinstall the previous version of ITunes?

I don't think the late/great Steve Jobs had this "new and improved" version of ITunes to be so darn frustrating.  It used to be relatively simple to put songs into a playlist or to import purchased songs from ITunes into an Apple device such as the IPOD Nano.  "Simple" used to be the selling point of Apple products.  What happened?  With this new version, I feel like I've got to contact Apple Support to do simple tasks.  It seems like I'm not the only person having this problem.

  • Manually Transferring Songs from iTunes to iPod

I have my iPod set to manually sync with iTunes, but when I select songs to transfer from iTunes to my iPod--as in the case when I want to transfer an entire album--the tracks are not in the same order as the original album. How do I rectify this?

you'll have to do this for each song:
    right click > get info
    go to the info tab
where it says track number __ of __,
put in the order you want it.
say the album has 12 songs.
the song that goes first, put 1 of 12.
continue this for the rest...it should work.

The only suggestion I have to offer is to take a look at this Apple support document if you haven't done so yet.

  • Can not transffer some songs from itunes to ipod

I have down loaded some hindi song from net , I am trying to transfer song from itune to ipod but can not can some one help me?

Are you using a 1st or second generation shuffle and what format are the songs that won't move? Some formats that play in iTunes are not compatible with the 1st generation iPod shuffle, Aiff and Apple Lossless for instance. Apple Lossless is not supported on the 2nd generation shuffle:
    iPod shuffle: Compatible audio formats
iPod shuffle 2nd generation - Technical specs

anyone know what the problem is???

If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer (As in your case where you have one at home and one you use at work) you can change the update preference to "manually manage songs and playlists. By doing this, you can listen to your iPod at work where you may have iTunes but no songs or a different set of songs on the computer.
See these links for more detail:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing Your Songs Manually
    For info: iPod 101
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • How do I download songs from ITunes to IPod?

How do I download songs from ITunes to IPod?

Plug the white USB cord into your iPod and the USB side into your computer. Your iPod should come up in iTunes. Then, select either playlists or songs (once you see the screen, you'll figure it out, I'm sure) and sync your iPod. If there is any other specific issue, please outline it for us. Otherwise, that should work.

  • I can't transfer songs from iTunes to iPod

I had purchased several songs from iTunes and transferred them onto my iPod. One day, they just disappeared from my iPod, even though they're still in my Library. I've tried syncing my iPod manually and automatically, upgrading to new versions of iTunes, etc., but I can't get the songs back on my iPod. I've since imported a few more CDs into iTunes, and I can't transfer those to my iPod either, trying all the same methods. iTunes says that my iPod update is complete, but it's not. Any advice??

  • Recover deleted songs from iTunes using iPod

I will preface by saying, I am an idiot, so please phrase your answers like you're talking to a 10 year old. I have a new Mac (my first) and I had iTunes all set up and working correctly until somehow I deleted a folder with half my music in it. It is all on my iPod, however. How do I get it from my iPod back into iTunes? There is some SINCERE gratitude here for anyone who can help.
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

If your iPod is set to update automatically you can use a keyboard command to prevent it auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘ Apple) keys. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and it will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer.
Change your update setting to manual so that you can use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using a lot of the utilities your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article:: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there's a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to your Mac. The procedure is a bit involved but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
If you prefer something more automated there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Senuti Mac Only
    iPodRip Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
    PodView Mac Only
    iPodAccess Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac & Windows
    PodUtil Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac & Windows
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are relatively inexpensive these days and you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Can't drag and drop songs from iTunes to ipod

Why can't I drag and drop songs from iTunes to ipod

    Hi there ASA101,
You may want to verify that you have "Manually Manage Music" enabled in iTunes. Take a look at the article below for more information.

  • "Download error" when getting songs from iTunes on iPod touch 2G

Hi all. Recently I've been getting a "Download Error. Tap to retry" message when I'm downloading songs from iTunes on my iPod Touch. It doesn't always happen, but seems to happen most if I leave the Download screen before the song is done downloading and processing. Even though it says "Tap to retry", when I do that, it just errors again. This continues, with frequent pop-up prompts asking for my iTunes password, until I connect my Touch back to iTunes.
I was curious if other people had the same problem and if there is a fix for this or if I just need to stay on the download screen until the song is done.
I have a 32gig iPod Touch 2nd Gen with the latest OS.
    Thanks for any info.

  • Can't transfer songs from Itunes to Ipod

I'm trying to move songs from Itunes to my Ipod, and it's not moving them. Instead I'm getting an ! next to the songs. All of these songs used to be on my Ipod and I had to do a hard reset due to software corruption. Now it's not allowing me to add any of my old songs. I've updated both my Itunes and Ipod software. Any ideas?

I had the same problem, basically i had dragged and dropped the wrong folder into my itunes! This means the songs you've dragged in are essentially the titles but not the actual songs!!! I had to hunt all over to find the right one. Have a look at this link
