Difficulty uploading asset.

Each time I add media asset to the media library using local file it times our.
Please has anyone ever experience this time out.

I believe you answered your own question.
From what you describe, It appears the service
provider is blocking ports or is using a firewall or
access lists to restrict certain traffic.
When you place the device directly attached to the
the same box it works. Other applications work
probably because those required ports are allowed.
Run a simple test. Add a URL to the media library.
If the Media assets is added successfully you narrowed
your issue to the Uploading which is probably blocked.
Capturing a Wireshark trace at the port of the DMM should
confirm.

LSMW for uploading assets using BAPI

Hi.
I am trying to upload assets from a flat file into the standard table using LSMW with BAPI.
I could upload the assets by calling the BAPI from an ABAP report. But when I use the same BAPI in LSMW it gives an error while maintaining structure relationships.
I created different source structures for header segment, general data and for depreciation areas on same level. While assigning these structures to target structures it asked for maintaining hierarchy between them. After I created that hierarchy I could maintain the relationships properly. But the read program was not generated.
Please help me in this.

The identification field need to be defined in case of data maintained for several source structures in one file. I am maintaining the data for each source structure in a separate file.
Still it is giving me the same problem that is not generating the read program.
If I dont maintain the hierarchy in source structures then it is generating the read program but then gives error while converting the data.
Don't know how to proceed.

Transfer uploaded assets

how we can transfer these assets in correct asset class.

If the July 2007 date you gave me is the takeover date and (I'm assuming) your FY calendar runs from Jan-Dec, then this is a mid-year takeover and the NAFAG (Ord Dep Posted for the Year) field should be available. If it's a mid year takeover, then the field is always available... it's the APC and AccumDepreciation fields that can possibly be hidden based on the Acquisition Date relative to the takeover date.

if you ahve uploaded assets with AS91 then it would ahve already posted to the Asset accouting sub ledger, but not to the GL. So you ahve to use OASV to post to the GL.
Posting using ABSO will post to both the AA and the GL resulting in duplicate entry in the Asset accoutning
you can use ABSO only when creating the asset master with AS01.

Wrong depreciation calculation for upload assets

Hi
I am uploading for US company with FY as Jan to December.
I have to upload assets with value as on 31stJuly 2010. It means SAP should calculate depreciation from August 2010.
Depreciation is on life basis
One asset purchased on 01.11.2009 with Value $ 585.59. WDV as on 31st July is 355.21. Total life is 23months. In AS91, depn start date is 01.11.2009 with useful life as 01 year and 11 period. In expired life, its showing as 94 under period column.
Now in asset transfer config, i gave the transfer date as 31.07.2010 and last period of depreciation in previous system, i gave it as 7th period of year 2010 (ie. July 2010)
Now when i saw depreciation in AW01n for august 2010, it shows that remaining depreciation is fully written off in august 2010.
Its not flowing to next month.
Any idea why is writing off depreciation fully in next month itself

After transfer old asset to new asset system automatically transfer all the balance to the new asset including depreciation Up to July
After that please check in the new asset master in the depreciation area tab depreciation start date...it must be 1st August
So based on that date depreciation will be calculate

Edited pages in Dreamweaver do not upload to the remote site. I have been doing this for years and suddenly the changes simply do not upload.

Guidelines to upload Assets into DAM

Hi,
We are in a process of uploading Assets into CQ DAM (AEM 5.6).
Example folder struture is:
/content/dam/exercises/test/
What is the recommended Assets limit that we can upload in 'test' level dam folder.
I've seen in the google groups that Adobe receomends don't use more than 200 to 250 assets at one level. But we are uploading around 5000 images in a single folder. If it is not recommended, can any one let me know the best practice.

Hello Siva,
There are various way and completely depends on your project requirement. Offcourse it is not suggested to keep that huge number of file in a single folder. Here i can suggest one good approach which i normally used is as below.
1. Categorized those assets if possbile lets say based upon your business areas or anything similar. Based on that create your high level of folders
2. Now under all these folders create sub folders hierarchy like a, aa, ab ac... and b, ba, bb, bc ... and c, ca, cb, cc and after some level of depth store your assets which makes each folder to have assets in between 100-200.
I hope above will help you do make some decision.

Problem with uploading assets

I am following this tutorial: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/augmented_reality.html#ach-setscr for augmented reality. The Sample files have been downloaded and when I open the .fla and run it in flash CS5 it works beautifully with the marker.
However, I am trying to get it to work online or in a powerpoint presentation. When I do so, the user is prompted to enable the camera, but the 3D image doesn't appear.
As far as I can see, I have to upload a .swf to a html page. The .swf is from a .fla and a .as (the actionscript is all in the .as which targets the .fla).
When the .swf is run, it calls on a .dae file which is referenced in the .as file.
Locally, when the .swf is run, it prompts the user to allow the webcam to be enabled. The user holds a marker image to the webcam and an augmented reality 3d model is shown. This works in flash cs5, but when I try to upload it to html or insert it in a powerpoint page I get the following error:

After googling, it seems that I have to somehow preload the flash assets but can't find how this is done.
Basically what I am trying to do is to get an Augmented reality application up and running on a website and I'm trying to do this with the version available here: htt p://ww w.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/augmented_reality.html.

Uploading assets in depreciation area

Hi
We have a very typical situation. We have assets in area 01. They have a Gross Book Value and Accumulated depreciation on them. But these assets are NOT in area 22 (local area).
We need to extend these assets to area 22 and then upload the Gross Book Value and Accumulated depreciation balances as on 31.12.2014 in area 01 to area 22.
How can this be done? Our year end is December 31 therefore also consider asset fiscal year end closing. If you can share some document on how this could be done, it would be great.
Will it be better to have the balances loaded with 01.01.2015 instead of Dec 31 2014.

The procedure is as follows:
1. Create Depreciation area via OADB.
2. Activate Depreciation area via OAYZ.
3. Automatic opening of new depreciation are via AFBN and program
   RAFABNEW :
   3.1     Indicator: Leave values initial = not ticked.
           Do not set this indicator if you want the system
           to copy the values from depreciation area 01.
   3.2     Indicator: Leave values initial = ticked.
           Set this indicator if you want to open the newly created
           depreciation area without any values i.e. blank.
4. Recalculate depreciation via AFAR and program RAAFAR00.

We have some new assets to be uploaded in the middle of the year.Which value(Gross Block,Depreciation,Net block) we would take at the time of uploading and t.codes involved
For eg. Cut off date is 01.09.2010

If you want to upload new assets and they are in mass numbers, having no realtion with legacy you can write LSMW for the same with T.code AS01 simply.
If said assets belongs to legacy you can use AS91 instead AS01.
Regular Asset :- AS01.
Legacy ( Old ) Asset :- AS91.
Regular Group Asset :- AS21.
Legacy ( Old ) Group Asset :- AS81.
Simlply match your requirement with T.code and write LSMW.
That is only AA point of view. For matching values with FI you have make entries manually OASV.

Pre-Orders without Uploading Assets?

I received this via new announcements email fromiTunes Connect. One of the news items was this:
Pre-Orders
Pre-orders are an easy way to generate sales before publication. Now, you can make your book available for pre-order without submitting a cover or book asset up until two weeks prior to publication date. Your pre-order will appear live in the iBookstore as soon as you deliver complete metadata. You must submit the cover, book asset, and custom preview two weeks prior to publication.

How does one do this? I went in, and it won't let me upload metadata without attaching the publication and publication preview. Or am I missing something? It would be great to start a pre-order page for a book without having to have the book already completed.

It *seems* that Apple no longer offer this.
Supposedly, version 2.5.1 allowed this feature, but I was also not able to get it to work and there was no "2.5.1 Guide" with instructions.
I wrote iBookstore support, and got no reply until a couple of days ago and they said:
"Please refer to Appendix A in the iTunes Producer guide to find more information on delivering a book for pre-orders. According to the current iTunes Producer Guide all assets (EPUB, iBooks format, cover art, and screenshot files) are due up front."
Then I noticed that there is a new version 2.6 with a 2.6 Guide and it mentions that you need all assets to create a pre-order.
So it seems the feature is gone for the moment

Unable to upload assets in DAM

Sometimes when I start CQ, I see a blank screen for DAM home page (see below) in which I don't see any default Geometrixx folders and also the new button is disabled. I can only search the assets but not upload any new. Any pointers on what can be wrong here ?

This happend to me once -- i cleared my browser cache and it solved the issue.

the requiremnte is like when they run the transaction S_ALR_87011964 it was not displayed the zero balances for leassed assets but it was some asssets whcih has zero balances. after investigation we had found that the leased assets did not post any transaction so for to that asset.
now they want to post some values to leaseed assets and reverse teh postings to just appear in the report S_ALR_87011964.
what is the best way for them, assets master data is already existed. now the requiremtnes is to just post the values and reverse teh enteris to display in the report.
is there wasy to post debit and credit to asset so that the values will be nullified and it can be shown in the report.

Difficulty uploading pdf to website

Trying to upload some pdf's to a website I manage Altibase In-Memory Database and I continue to get http errors.
I've tried resizing and all of that, but can't seem to find the solution.
JPEG, PNG, GIF files have no issue.

How exactly do you upload? What kind of errors do you get?
Normally website content is uploaded via FTP, not HTTP.

Difficulty uploading from an iPhone

I need help uploading video from an iPhone 5 to Premiere Elements 11.
I started a new project. As per ATR's instructions, I set the project settings like this: NTSC, DSLR, 1080p, DSLR 1080p30.
Then I choose Add Media, Video from Flip or Cameras. My phone is correctly identified, but I have the error message, "Premiere Elements has encountered an error. [..\..\Src\Win\WinPathUtils.cpp-525]" There is a "Continue" button, which I clicked. Then PE crashes.
I used Task Manager to close the program, restarted PE, reset the new project settings (as above), and tried again. This time I got the error message, "Adobe Premiere Elements 11 has stopped working."
I tried a third time. Again, "Adobe Premiere Elements has stopped working."
If instead I choose Add Media, Photos from Cameras or Devices, then select my iphone, I get the error message, "No valid files found."
If instead, I choose Add Media, Files and Folders, and select the file, it uploads just fine.
Is it possible to add iPhone videos to the timeline without copying them to the computer first?

You may or may not be dealing with a iPhone 5 .mov video with a variable bitrate. You can find out for sure by downloading and installing the free MediaInfo and that will tell you in the Tree View of the properties readout.

But, you have said that, if you use Premiere Elements 11 Add Media/Files and Folders, everything is fine. Am I correct on that? So why bother with QuickTime Pro? Using the Add Media/Files and Folders seems a far easier and quicker thing to do if you cannot use the Video Importer to bring your iPhone 5 video into a new project.
Maybe I need to do a re-read of the link that was cited, but, although there are some buzz words like variable frames rates in it, that is the limit of its relationship to your question about why yes to Add Media/Files and Folders and no to Video Importer. That thread goes to out of sync audio. Yours goes to a program that shuts down when the video importer is used.
My iPod video is chronically characterized by "variable bitrate" because of the low light shooting situation I find myself in. I should be getting similar files as you. Mine are 720p (up to 30 frames per second) and your are 1080p (up to 30 frames per second). I have no problems importing my .mov files either (a) Get Media/Files and Folders or (b) Video Importer - USB 2.0 connections involved.
I just do not see this convert file business. You will not be able to use the Video Importer for that. You will be using Add Media/Files and Folders which you say works. What am I missing? Again, you do not have out of sync audio (at least I do not remember you saying that).
From all that I read, we are not talking about "not editing easily" or "out of sync" video, we are talking about your program shutting down related to use of the Video Importer.
That QuickTime import/export appearly was used to get a video with a fixed frame rate. Whatever the case, that choice did work for that user to get the in sync audio. Another route which worked for another was setting a frame rate in Interpret Footage. But, out of sync audio does not seem to be a problem for you right now. It might not ever be an issue for you??
I am still not sure on the why for that.
Please review and then let me know if you think that I missed some important parts of this issue and possible remedy specific to your problem.
