Diffrences between QS logic board Rev1 and Rev2

Hi my Lobo has died on me and i was wonder what the diffrences between the QS logic board Rev1 and Rev2 are
From researching on the net i have found out that there are two types of board numbers for my model
820-1342-B or 820-1276-A
The man number on my board is
820-1342-B
But i can only get hold of the "A" model...will there be performance issues
Thanks guys

There were two distinct versions of the QuickSilver:
http://support.apple.com/specs/powermac/PowerMac_G4_Quicksilver2002.html
http://support.apple.com/specs/powermac/PowerMac_G4Quicksilver.html
As for performance differences there aren't many, but it really depends on what you put on the machine. The newer has faster cache. Also if you are lucky to get a June or July 2002 QuickSilver logicboard (earliest 2002 were January 2002), you'll get added support on the PCI bus for 128 GB or larger hard drives on a single partition. Though there are PCI cards which support that as well.

  • What's the Difference Between Logic Board Failure and Hard Drive Failure

    Hi!
So I wanted to know the difference between a Logic Board Failure and Hard Drive Failure because a couple of days ago I tried starting my computer up and I was welcomed by the Apple chime and a grey screen. I have been researching and most people say its either the hard drive or the logic board. So I am curious to know what are the symptoms of both. Thanks a lot, in advance!

The hard drive is where the OS resides, if it dies there is no OS loading, so you can't boot. If you hook up your external drive with your clone of the internal drive, boot up and hold down the option key, select your clone drive as the startup drive in boot manager that then appears, and the computer boots normally, then the computer is OK, it is just the internal drive that has gone south. You don't have a clone to boot from? Now you know why you should.
You could try booting from the DVD that came with the computer, hold down the "D" key to run diagnostics and see what the results are. If you can't boot into the diagnostics then a trip to the Apple store is probably in order.

  • The cable between the logic board and the 3G board  was removed can I convert it to a Wifi only?

I have a Ipad 2 3g. someone detached the cable between the logic board and the 3G board can I convert it to a Wifi only?

The ipads that have 3g have an extra section attached to the logic board by a glued on wire. I bought this at a tag sale. Someone was apparently trying to repair their iPad and they did not know that when you removed that glued strip attaching the 3g antenna to the logic board you would never be able to re-atach it again later. So basicaly my 3g logic board is now in two pieces. the main logic board with wifi and the cdma 3g antenna. Now their is no differnce between the logic boards in either wifi only or wifi and 3g devices. I attempted to restore the device with the ios for wifi only, because there are 3 different ios versions depending on if you have wifi only wifi 3g with SIM card, or wifi 3g cdma.

  • Diffrence between Master Chart of Accounts and Company Code Chart of Accoun

    Hi,
what is the Diffrence between Master Chart of Accounts and Company Code Chart of Accounts?
    Regards
    Divya

    HIi
Mater chart of accounts is nothing but the main account that is created at the client level.
    we have 3 COA
    1. Group chart of accounts
    2.country specific chart of accounts
    3. Operating chart of accounts
we can have maximum 3 chart of acocunts assigned to each company code
Company code chart of accounts is can be operating chart of account which contains the group of account used by that company...
If some specific requireement is there for the country reporting purpose than we need to use that and maintain that ,
Group chart of account is used for the consolidation purpose.
like we have 6 company codes under one company in differnet countries.. so here they will have one common COA which will consilidate the business of all 6 company codes...
Hope u understand wht u wanted..

  • Diffrence between Direct Delta,Que Delta and Un searlised v3 update

    Dear All,
Can any one explain the diffrence between Direct Delta,Que Delta and Un searlised v3 update and in which situation to which update mode.
    Thanks in advance

    Dear Friend,
    Transaction posting lead to:
    1. Records in transaction tables
    2. For an initial load a setup needs to be executed which reads the transaction data and stores the data in a setup table
    3. These setup tables are read during an initial or full load
    4. Further transactions are posted into the transaction tables and also caught into Update tables / Extraction Queue.
    5. A periodically scheduled job transfers these postings into the BW delta queue
    6. This BW Delta queue is read when a delta load is executed.
    a. Update methods: (serialized) V3
u2022 Transaction data is collected in the R/3 update tables
u2022 Data in the update tables is transferred through a periodic update process to BW Delta queue
u2022 Delta loads from BW retrieve the data from this BW Delta queue
    Transaction postings lead to:
    1. Records in transaction tables and in update tables
    2. A periodically scheduled job transfers these postings into the BW delta queue
    3. This BW Delta queue is read when a delta load is executed.
    Issues:
u2022 Even though it says serialized , Correct sequence of extraction data cannot be guaranteed
u2022 V2 Update errors can lead to V3 updates never to be processed
u2022 Details in SAP Note 505700
    b. Update methods: direct delta
u2022 Each document posting is directly transferred into the BW delta queue
u2022 Each document posting with delta extraction leads to exactly one LUW in the respective BW delta queues
    Transaction postings lead to:
    1. Records in transaction tables and in update tables
    2. A periodically scheduled job transfers these postings into the BW delta queue
    3. This BW Delta queue is read when a delta load is executed.
    Pros:
u2022 Extraction is independent of V2 update
u2022 Less monitoring overhead of update data or extraction queue
    Cons:
u2022 Not suitable for environments with high number of document changes
u2022 Setup and delta initialization have to be executed successfully before document postings are resumed
u2022 V1 is more heavily burdened
Note: Con 2: a delta queue has to present to collect the document postings. This queue is only available after a successful delta initialization.
    c. Update methods: queued delta
u2022 Extraction data is collected for the affected application in an extraction queue
u2022 Collective run as usual for transferring data into the BW delta queue
    Transaction postings lead to:
    1. Records in transaction tables and in extraction queue
    2. A periodically scheduled job transfers these postings into the BW delta queue
    3. This BW Delta queue is read when a delta load is executed.
    Pros:
u2022 Extraction is independent of V2 update
u2022 Suitable for environments with high number of document changes
u2022 Writing to extraction queue is within V1-update: this ensures correct serialization
u2022 Downtime is reduced to running the setup
    Cons:
u2022 V1 is more heavily burdened compared to V3
u2022 Administrative overhead of extraction queue
    d. Update methods: Un-serialized V3
u2022 Extraction data for written as before into the update tables with a V3 update module
u2022 V3 collective run transfers the data to BW Delta queue
u2022 In contrast to serialized V3, the data in the updating collective run is without regard to sequence from the update tables
Note: i. Pro 2: In doing so, up to 10000 delta extractions of documents for an LUW are compressed for each Data Source into the BW delta queue, depending on the application.
ii. Pro 4: Even without a successful initial load and thus no BW delta queue yet available, document postings are already collected in the extraction queue.
    Transaction postings lead to:
    1. Records in transaction tables and in update tables
    2. A periodically scheduled job transfers these postings into the BW delta queue
3.This BW Delta queue is read when a delta load is executed.
    Issues:
u2022 Only suitable for data target design for which correct sequence of changes is not important e.g. Material Movements
u2022 V2 update has to be successful
    Hope this will be helpful.
Please respond back if there is still any query.

Hard drive sensor or logic board failure.

  • Backup not recognized after logic board swap and restore from clone

My MacBook Pro had a new logic board put in. I have an external drive that was a clone of the internal boot drive made with Carbon Copy Cloner, so I had booted my Mac Mini from the clone to continue working while the MBP was in the shop.
When I got the MBP back, I reversed the clone to updated the MBPs internal drive with changed files from the external clone.
Upon connecting the MBP's Time Machine drive, and reassigning that volume to TM, TM doesn't recognize the original backup folder as being the one to use. Instead it tries to make a new backup folder. But it fails and reports that there's not enough room on the disk.
Is there a way to manually point TM back to a particular backup folder? Or am I stuck losing those backups and having TM start over again?

V.K., thanks for pointing to the hint. I have some familiarity with Terminal, and followed the hint instructions closely. I could see that there was a new file with my new Mac address on the the TM volume. But still couldn't get my system to recognize the old backup, even after restarting and turning the TM drive off and on.
Since I didn't feel that my old files were that critical, I just went ahead and erased the TM volume and started a new backup set.

  • My 2008 MacBook Pro logic board died and I'm pulling the hard drive out.  What Apple computers have room for a 2nd 2 inch hard drive?

The logic board on my 2008 MacBook Pro died.  But the hard drive is fine.  What Apple computer has room for me to insert my old drive as a 2nd hard drive?

You can add it to any unibody MacBook Pro in the optical drive bay, if you can get along without an optical drive and you aren't worried about voiding the warranty (or if the machine you buy isn't under warranty). You can't add it to a Macbook Air, Mac Mini, or iMac, but you can easily put it into a Mac Pro. And of course with any Mac you can put it into an external enclosure and use it as an external drive.
See my second post in this thread for a couple of enclosure recommendations:

  • 2 logic board replacements and a very hot ibook!

i just got my ibook back after apple replacing the logic board for the second time in 6 months. i barely squeaked in under the program, so i didn't have to pay for it, but if it happens again, i am out of luck.
    i am hoping someone can tell me whether there are precautions, etc that i can take in order to prevent this from happening again? i really am not even sure what causes the logic board to fail, however the two things i have noticed about my ibook are that;
    a. it gets extremely hot on the bottom (something i have found that a lot of ibook g3 users experience) but i'm not sure what to do to make that less of an issue. i try to make sure there is adequate airflow underneath and the fan does indeed work, but it still seems to run a lot hotter in general than it used to and the fan comes on quite a bit.
    b. my battery isn't holding much of a charge anymore. it's the original battery(so it's about 3+ years old) and i realize i need a new one, but things have been a bit tight financially so i have been putting it off. i have mostly been using the computer while plugged in, but when i do use it on whatever charge the battery will hold, i always let it run until the battery is drained.
could either of these issues be part of my logic board woes? i have also heard some things about not having enough ram so the computer runs too hot. furthermore i have heard that the ibook running so hot could be a sign that my hd is going to die. any truth to that? can i prevent it?
anyways, i am really hoping someone can please help me figure this out before the logic board goes out again or worse!
    thanks so much,
    jess

Hi, Jess. Welcome to Apple Discussions.
The best suggestion I can give you to keep the logic board from going out again is to never pick the iBook up by its left front corner alone. If you pick it up in your left hand, as I often do mine, pick it up in the center, under the trackpad. Better yet, especially since it seems to be running hot, get yourself a laptop desk like mine, and pick it up, desk and all. I have this model, and I leave it folded in half. There is a metal rod that fits in slots and elevates the iBook to keep it cooler. My son bought mine for me for Mother's Day, and I thought I wouldn't use it, but I use it ALL the time, and I pick it and the iBook up together, so the case of my iBook never flexes (which is rumored to be the cause of the logic board failure).
Don't use the iBook while it is sitting on a soft surface like your lap, a sofa, or a pillow. Keep it on a firm surface, and make sure all four of the rubber feet on the bottom of it are intact. They allow for better ventilation, and let it run cooler.
You do not need to run the battery until it is drained. That used to be the advice with old nickel-cadmium batteries, which developed a "memory" if you didn't discharge them completely. The newer lithium-ion batteries in the iBook do not have that problem.
The typical lifespan of a lithium-ion battery is two to three years, no matter how well you care for it, so it's had a pretty good run.
You can read more about Apple's recommendations on how to best extend battery life and lifespan at this link:
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html
You can keep your iBook running a bit cooler and save some wear and tear on your hard drive if you maximize your RAM with a 512 MB RAM module. You can find the best prices at <a href=http://ramseeker.com/scripts/sortModelDetails.php?modelId=1&sortSize=512mbramseeker.com
Douglas McLauglin, who buys RAM for the Macs where he works as well as his own personal computers says:
I have purchased RAM from 1-800-4-MEMORY and Crucial for myself at home. And we've ordered RAM from Data Memory Systems at work. They're all reputable dealers.
Be certain that whatever vendor you choose provides a lifetime warranty. It doesn't happen often, but RAM can fail.
Instructions for installing it yourself can be found in this Apple Knowledge Base article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=111918
Once a portable computer is past three years old, it's a good idea to start saving for a new one. Technology moves so fast these days that you almost need to upgrade that often to keep up.
    Good luck!

  • MBP 2007-dying Logic Board #2 and out of warranty.

My Macbook Pro (2007) has had too many problems to count. I have had to replace two batteries so far. Recently the old thing started running really slowly and freezing a lot. I got the hard drive and RAM replaced but the technician said that my logic board was dying and would have to be replaced soon if I wanted to keep using the computer. Here's my problem. I've already gotten my logic board replaced once by Mac about two years ago! I got it done for free last time luckily, but since I'm past my warranty date I'll have to pay around $1200 for that. I could go and get myself a very nice PC for that (which I am seriously considering now). Is there any way that I could get this replaced without paying such a large fee?

I have. Getting the image board replaced costs about $1200. That's what they told me they could do when I went in. Unfortunately with the amount of problems I've been having I don't think I will be an Apple customer for much longer. I am certainly never buying another Mac again.

  • Whats the diffrence between these two JKM's and when to use which one.

Please tell the diffrence between these two.
JKM Oracle Consistent o JKM Oracle Consistent (Update Date)

Basic difference is in the requirement .
JKM Oracle Consistent (Update Date) wants a DATE/TIMESTAMP column in the source tables(s) which will get inserted/update by the source application . ODI will capture the changed data based on this column value . Only the DELETE portion requires a trigger to keep track of deletion happening at source table(s).
Where as JKM Oracle Consistent does not require any DATE/TIMESTAMP column in the source tables(s) . It uses triggers for keeping track of INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE happening in source .
In terms of performance JKM Oracle Consistent (Update Date) is better as it will create littel over head on to your source system . SO if you have a DATE/TIMESTAMP column in the source tables(s) which gets inserted/update by the source application, then go for JKM Oracle Consistent (Update Date) .
Else look for JKM Oracle Consistent .
    Thanks,
