Digi 001 Core Audio Manager and Logic 7.1

I just upgraded to Pro 7.1 from logic 5.5.1. When I would start up 5.1.1 it would automaticly startup the coreaudio manager for the Digi. I've noticed now using 7.1 that I have to start the Digi Core Audio Manager before starting up Logic Pro or it will not recognize the Digi at all, and will remove the digi as a sound card selection. Does anyone else experience this same issue? Is it normal? I read into the logic help and it said with a TDM or HD digi hardware this would be necessary. I'm confused help would be appreciated.

Yes, this is normal when using Logic Pro 7.1 and Digi Coreaudio version 6.4. They seem to have fixed this in more recent versions of the coreaudio manager, but 6.4 is the last revision supported by the Digi 001.

I think you need to ensure the Digi002 is connected properly. IE make sure the cables are connected all the way in, and that there is no other cables resting on top of them.
Also, if you have many FireWire things hooked up to the same computer... get rid of a few of them. This helps the FireWire bandwidth.

  • QT7.3 (no audio with MBox and Core Audio Manager)

Just updated to QT7.3 but it doesn't seem to be compatible with M-Box's Core Audio Manager (Pro Tools LE 7.3). I can't play audio through the M-Box. No problems with 7.2. So until my Core Audio software is upgraded, is there anyway to re-install QT7.2?

    Hi desst17795,
Make sure the XP end has Tuned the app to the camera and mic.
The link is in a blog style and they need message #570 onwards. It also was written for AIM5.5 and the access to the prefereneces is now in the Buddy List menu items.
If this does not work then they should do this:
Their preview is the rear of the two tabs where they see your pic. They should click on this to bring it to the front.
There is now a small icon to the right.
    Click on this.
    A slider should appear.
This should be moved to the left.
If you have the Connection Doctor open (in the Video menu of iChat) you should see the framerate and bit rate go up.
At your end you should go to System Preferences > Sound > Input tab and make sure the correct mic is selected and the volume is adusted to move the response bars to at least halfway.
In iChat > Preferences > Video section > Microphone drop down you should ensure the same mic is selected and theat the response bars move when you talk.
In the Video menu bar item you should also check that the Micorphone Enabled item is ticked.
You are right that iChat to AIM 5.9 can not do Audio only chats (Unless part of a One Way video chat)

  • Landscape Management and logical components

    Hi
Can anyone please help me to fix the issue related to sap solution manager Landscape Management and logical components.
Actually here we have “Some software component versions are not covered by product instances” but it should be “All software components are covered by product instance”. Is it makes any problem while we do maintenance optimizer
    Document attached for reference...
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Kranthi.

    Hi Kranthi,
As mentioned by Daniel, after executing the Landscape verification, it will show all the missing product version and product instance. so just add it, it will add and show in LMDB.
In below screen of LMDB show all the product version and product instance add and automatically captured. not able to add the product version manually due to refresh job. all the related product details shown in Landscape verification.
After addition will able to find all the product in the LMDB and generate the MOPZ directly from LMDB with respective product version.

  • Digi Core Audio Driver and FCEHD 3.0

I'm unable to monitoe FCE-HD via my Digi 001.
    Does anyone know why?
All other applications run perfectly through my ProTools system.

So that's my answer? Use an older version?
I purchased this HD 3.0 retail just recently. Can someone explain to me how I roll it back to the Core Audio approved version and/or when will Apple make this compatible with the Digi driver?
Very disappointing. The folks at CompUSA assured me all was well with compatability. I guess..not so much.

  • Core Audio Crashes when Logic Loads - need help

    Hi,
Logic 8 and Garageband both crash when they load. If I turn off Core Audio during loading by Control clicking the Logic icon, Logic does load but without audio. In I then enable Core Audio, Logic crashes right away. If I take out all the audio plugins from the Library (none in user), it makes no difference. I have taken out the Logic preferences from the User Library. It did not fix the problem. I have looked for anything to do with Melodyne and Rewire on my system did not fine anything I could solve the problem with.
Strangely, Sibelius or Sound Track Pro do not have this problem (not using Core Audio?). I was advised by someone to download the Pro Application Support Runtime. However, older versions of this (4.02) will not install on my computer, and the newer ones seem to be only for Final Cut Studio and will not accept a Logic serial number.
It seems I have a serious corruption problem with Core Audio. I do not know what to do with Core Audio as it does not seem to be an actual application that I can trash and replace. Nor do I know of any Core Audio preferences to trash.
Does anyone, including an Apple expert, know how to fix this problem?
    Regards
    Paul Nicholls

It might help if you could post a crash report.
Coreaudio is part of OS X. Worst case scenario would be an OS X reinstall.
One thing to try: create a new User account, login to that and open Logic from that. Does it still crash?

  • Can anyone help!! with Edirol FA 66 Audio interface and Logic Pro 7

    Hi I really need help!!
I have Logic Pro 7 and just have brough tnew Audio interface. I have connected it up via Firewire and my Mac has recognised drivers for interface.
I am plugging midi keyboard up to interface using two midi cables but cant get input signal through logic
    PLease help someone!!

I have connected my Keyboard to my Edirol FA 66 Audio Interface
    via midi cables
Ok, so you should be able to use the Casio to play Logic's instruments.
I would like keyboard to play into Logic and then be heard as an
    output through my external speakers.
Well that's your problem, you've only connected it via MIDI cables - MIDI IS NOT AUDIO.
MIDI does not carry any audio signals at all, you cannot record audio via MIDI cables. You need to connect the stereo outputs of your keyboard into the audio inputs of your audio interface in order to record the Casio as audio, and/or to pipe it's audio through Logic.

  • Best way to install audio, instruments and Logic?

Hi Can someone please tell me which is best?
Is it better for me to install Logic studio 8 onto my system drive and my logic songs, audio & virtual instruments onto the audio drive? Or is it best to install LP8 and audio plug-ins onto my audio drive?
This will be for a Mac Pro not a G5 machine.

I realized I marked this question as answered but out of curiosity (or just plain stupidity) I would like to ask, why must I put the samples and loops on a third drive? Will this really improve performance?
It will not so much improve performance, as improve what your disks can handle. If you are working in a project that uses both Soft Samplers and Audio, one disk has to handle two tasks, reading/streaming samples and reading/streaming/recording audio. It differs per disk what it can handle, but you can see the benefits of having them separate. It also increases the lifespan of both disks.
And also can one use time capsule with an internal drive? (A fourth drive)
    AFAIK, Yes.

  • How does Core Audio set sample rate?

When I play a particular movie in QuickTime, the audio and video are out of sync. The movie plays fine on other computers.
This Mac Pro (OS 10.6.8) is used exclusively for Pro Tools and Final Cut Pro. The audio hardware is a Pro Tools HD Native card:
Native card --> Pro Tools Digital I/O boxes --> Lavry D/A converters --> monitors
The sample rate of the Digital I/O boxes is set by an external master clock, a Lavry Gold A/D converter.
I opened the DigiDesign Core Audio Manager and it says:
    Connected @ 44.1K, 32 In/32 Out, Buffer Size 512
Yet the movie is at 48K (I know because I created it in Final Cut Pro), and the external clock is set at 48K. So, I don't know where the 41K in the Digidesign Core Audio Manager came from. This is why I am guessing the problem is sample rate.
Please help me understand what sets the sample rate.
Does the application using Core Audio set it?
If so, how is this made consistent with the sample rate set for the hardware by the external master clock?
Do I have to be sure I always change the external clock setting to be consistent with the movie being played?
BTW, I have not had a sync problem when I play video in Final Cut Pro..........it is always in sync. So, I have never worried about how Core Audio works. The sync problem is only with QuickTime.

    Well, here is more information:
    - I reinstalled QuickTime 7 and did many other things (trashed preferences, etc)
    - I set the audio hardware (Pro Tools/HD Native card) to 48k
    - I checked the Digi CoreAudio Manager and it said "Connected at 44.1K", even though the hardware was set to 48K
    - I played the problem videos, and all are now in sync
    - I check the Digi CoreAudio Manager and it still says 44.1K
    - I checked the hardware and it is now set to 44.1K
I know that the videos are 48K, because I created them in Final Cut Pro X.
Does this mean that QuickTime 7 always converts videos to 44.1K, regardless of their sample rate?

You might ask on the GarageBand, Logic or Final Cut forums. There is not much audio traffic here.

  • Digi 03 won't lock into Logic's chosen sample rate.

I have an issue with my Digidesign Digi 03 rack and logic 9. This has only started since updating to snow leopard.
Every so often when I open a project that is in 44.1khz the digi 03 does not automatically switch to the sample rate of the project, it stays at 48khz. This is not so annoying in itself apart from the fact that there does not seem to be a way of changing the sample rate in the Digi 03 core audio app while logic is open and if you then change it after closing logic it reverts to 48khz when you re-open the project.
When you try and open the digidesign hardware setup in Logic, nothing happens.
I usually record at 48 and don't mind converting the files but when it's somebody elses project it is a bit of a **** and make me look a bit of an incompetent too.
Any ideas? I'm probably missing something really simple here but whatever it is I can't see it.

Hey Casio, the Core Audio standalone drivers have not been "qualified" for SL. I'm not sure if there's a workaround. Check the Digi site.

  • Digi Core Audio 7. Anyone is using it without problems?

I took ProTools 7.0 but I'm hesitant on installing it, particularly for DigiCoreAudio 7, because I'm using 6.9.2 which works fine with my Logic, and I wouldn't find bad surprises. Anyone is using it with Logic 7.2.2?

  • Digidesign Core Audio not working in Logic pro 7.1

Help! I'm not able to use Digidesign's (002 interface) as a core-audio interface for Logic Pro 7. Pro-Tools works fine with the 002. Logic works fine with built-in interface. However whenever I go to change from the built-in audio interface to the core audio 002 interface in audio drivers (in preferences), it won't allow me and I get the following message:
"Audio device has been removed" (press OK) then
"Previously selected audio interface is not available" (Press OK) (digidesign 002 interface has double brackets around the name in the audio drivers). If you try to relaunch driver again it disappears from the drivers list? In addition the "Digi design core-audio " application that opens up on the dock - just says "not connected" and some buttons are greyed out and you cannot "reconnect"?
    Is there a conflict of drivers with the OS/Logic version and digi core-audio? I'm running Pro-Tools ver6.4, with digi core-audio 6.9 (updated from 6.4 - didn't solve the issue?), Logic Pro 7.1 and OS 10.3.9 (on a G4 1.25Ghz, 512Ram)?
It seems like a core-audio driver problem - but having updated to the latest version I'm still not getting any joy? Any offers?! Cheers.

    Check the FW cable.
Anyway about compatibility Digidesign says this:
Mac OS X 10.3.9 Not Supported
With ALL versions of Pro Tools 6.x for Panther (other than Pro Tools LE 6.8.1 with Mbox 2 hardware only), the highest version of Mac OS X 10.3 that you should use is Mac OS X 10.3.8. There are incompatibilities with Pro Tools 6 and QuickTime 7, which is installed by Mac OS X 10.3.9. If you must use Mac OS X 10.3.9 for some reason, you should revert to QuickTime 6.5.2, available from the Apple website.
    cheers

  • How do I find and turn Core Audio On.

When I try to open Logic it stops at “Initializing Core Audio”.
I have read the topics page and carried out all the suggestions including starting with the control key down to get into logic. When I do this logic opens and a box comes up with Launch Core Audio Driver, Yes or No. If yes, it freezes, if no I can load it up, but there is no core audio at all when I do.
In the inspector, the CORE AUDIO is greyed out. I have gone to Preferences and ticked the Core Audio box and ticked “Apply” and then it freezes again. Logic cannot see or find the Logic Core Library.
How do I turn Core Audio on? I have No Sound at all. There is no instrument list ( EXS 24, ES1, ES2, Sculpture, Ultrabeat etc) coming up in the I/O box, it only says No Plugin. When I load a previous song there is a line through the I/O instrument and no sound. In the arrange window the audio levels show that there is activity but there is no sound and the instruments are crossed out.
It seems like there is a communication problem between the program and the Core Audio sound banks. Could this have something to do with the drivers? If so, Where can I get the drivers from and how do I put them in.
Does anyone know how to get inside Logic maybe to a lower level so that I can tick some box to get the sounds back again.
If I re-install the program will it fix the problem?
Sorry to be so long-winded but I am in a mess with this, so any kind of advise would be very much appreciated.
    Many thanks.
    Roy.

I haven't had this problem, but on other computers, I have seen some sound functions only work if you don't run certain other things on start-up. Try opening System Resources:Accounts:<your account>:Login Items, and clearing out the list.
    Hope you solve it!

  • Using Motu DP and Logic Together - More use of all cores on the PPC Quad

Since there's been some talk about how DP uses four cores on the PPC quad lately I thought I might add what I've been doing to take advantage of untapped processing power. If you have DP (I am running 4.5) you can run it alongside Logic Pro and use interapplication midi (built into Logic and DP) to play Logic's instruments from midi tracks in DP. This is fairly easy to set up in the environment.
With all of my audio recorded in DP I can use all my nice AU plugs there and benefit from DP's use of 4 cores - something I can't do with just the "node trick" in Logic. Logic is then just playing the role of audio instrument slave.
I tend not to like or use most of Logic's processing plugs for audio, but they are fine to process Logic's instruments with so this works well.
The exceptions are Space designer and the tape delay which I still use on recorded audio. To use these with audio recorded in DP I use Jack and/or Soundflower to virtually "patch" the audio through Logic and back to DP. I have no idea what this does to latency but who the heck cares with reverb and tape delay?
Of course I have and like DP so this is worth doing in my case.

Jack is more flexible than Soundflower. The latter sets up less output channels that afford you less possibilities. But, both have worked for me.
True that, in the beginning Jack was a little funky to use but that ended when I set up an agregate device driver for core audio.
As a new feature in one of the Tiger updates (I can't remember which one) you can now set up such a so called agregate core audio device and select that as your device driver in both Logic and DP. So for example I use a MOTU 828 as one of my tried-and-true firewire in/out boxes. So I setup an agregate device in core audio with this Motu unit and Jack (called it Motu 828/Jack OS)and then I selected it in Logic and DP. Otherwise I just had to select Jack (and not the MOTU) as my only output device in Logic and then route ALL audio through it just to get it in and out of the MOTU which was a pain since I couldn't have direct acces to my Motu ins and outs in Logic anymore. Jack became the go- between for everything. That was enough to make me give up.
But using the agregate device saved the day. I now see all of my old MOTU ins and outs in Logic and DP plus Jack's virtual ins and outs which I can then use to patch between the programs. This has worked perfectly fine.
Soundflower can be used similarly but you will just have less virtual outs and ins to deal with and you lose the intermediate step that you have in Jack where you connect the virtual ins to the virtual outs at will. It's done automatically. So this can be easier of course. Or, it can allow for less flexibility. Hope this helps.
