Digi 002

Dear Guys, can someone run me through setting up a Digi 002 to use as an interface with Logic Studio?

Hi Guys,
Me again. I have imported audio tracks from another studio and am mixing well but I want to add some more guitar. I made a new audio track, pressed record and all I get is a very loud hiss. I have Input 1 and Output 1 & 2 selected on the strip. How can I have sound coming through my Digi 002 from my guitar to the recorder on Logic? I can hear my other tracks through the Digi 002. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong and what I should do?
This is a known issue with a version of core audio driver from Digidesign.
This was happening about a YEAR ago.
What version of digidesign software are you running? Are you on the latest possible version for you?

  • Can't sync Digi 002 as an interface for Logic Pro 7

I discovered Logic about a year after I had already purchased a Digi 002, and have been using it as my interface for Logic Express for about 6 months.  No problems.  I upgraded to Logic Pro 7 last month and now get only garbled sound and the following error message. "Error while trying to synchronize audio and midi.  Sample rate 88215 recognized.  Check conflict between Logic and External Device."
I am trying to run Logic Pro 7.  I still also use Pro Tools LE version 7.0 which runs fine.  I can play itunes songs, Garage Band, movies, Pro Tools songs, etc., no problem, but not Logic Pro, or Logic Express.
When I switch to Built In Audio, Logic Pro works fine through the tiny built in speaker, but trying to use the Digi 002 as my interface all the sound comes out garbled.
I have been pulling out my hair for weeks.  Any help would be much appreciated.

The digi people also recommended buying the update for 7.3 and then updating to 7.3.cs4.  I am going to give that a try.  What does Pro App Support 4.0 do and where do I find it if you think that might help me?
That is what I'm running, and it works great. Give it a shot. You can do a search on this forum, or on the Apple Support section of the website, and search for that term (Pro Application Support).
Yes I have learned my lesson with auto update.  Live and learn.
Yes. Remember, a DAW machine is NOt a regular computer you can do whatever with. Audio software and hardware are finicky creatures that don't play nice if you're messing with their operating system willy-nilly.
I spoke with the Apple Store people today as well.  They suggest I spend $100 and sign up for one on one support and bring the whole **** set up in to the store and let them work on it. Seeing as how I am using a G5 tower, and we are talking about a digi 002 board, that is going to be alot of fun to lug across the mall.   I am just about that desperate though.  Any thoughts on one on one support in store?
LOL!!! they just want your money, and will most defniintely screw up your system. They'll update wrong, install stuff you don't want, and re-configure your system to THEIR liking. Stay away from the genius Bar. When it comes to Pro audio, they really know little or nothing. As an example, I went to my local Apple store recently and asked for a copy of Logic Pro. the helpful guy there responded "Logic what? we don't have that kind of software here."
    Thanks for the help.  Again.
You're welcome. Hopefully soon you'll have it up and running.
    Cheers

  • Logic 7.1 MIDI problem (Digi 002)

A year ago, I bought a dual G4, a Digi 002, and started recording. After realizing I was using GarageBand more than ProTools, I bought Logic Pro. Of course, the 002 isn't a supported interface, but I could still use it as an input device - I could have my microphones, guitars, etc. pugged into it. I was also able to have my keyboard plugged into the MIDI IN on my 002, and I could use it in Logic. My only use for it is to use the audio instruments, to create strings, etc.
Somewhere in an update, things changed. Now, Logic doesn't seem to recognize any MIDI coming from the 002. I have trashed prefs, messed around with the AudioMidi setup... in the AMSetup, I can see my 002, and I can add in my keyboard, and cable it to the MIDI port of the 002. I get nothing in Logic.
Another change (in case these are related): At the same time, whenever I open a new Logic project, the "output" track (says "output 1-2) has a red X through it. I can manually change that, but it is weird.
What I want to be able to do is play my keyboard and have it make sounds through the audio instrument tracks.
In my transport window, it used to show the note I was playing when I hit my keyboard. Now it says No In, No Out.
    Details:
    OS 10.4.2, CoreAudio 6.9.2, LogicPro 7.1
I lost MIDI BEFORE I went to 10.4 and after I went to CA 6.9 (tried reverting that but it still didn't help), and after I went to QT 7 (reverted but that didn't help either).
    Anyone know what's going on?
I am a real noob when it comes to the environment. I have several logic books, but I still can't grasp it. I have the feeling I could solve this in the environment, but I'm not sure how.

Dirk, recently a whole load of musos like yourself started having problems with their misi setup following a security update from apple. The culprit seems to be update 2005-007. Anyway I spent hours trying to get my Logic Pro 7 to work properly again and after re-installing everything from Logic to the midi and audio drivers for my outboard midi and sound card to running first aid and doing permission repairs etc, I eventualfly went for the drastic step of doing an archive and re-install of my OS X.
How to do it properly is listed here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
    Follow the instructions and reboot.
You will then need to run the software updates up to but excluding security 2005-007
You may fing some of your other 3rd party software may need to be re-insatlled after this and possibly some of your drivers for midi. But take it step by step. After the archive and install, run your software update from the apple menu then try to run Logic as normal. If any errors come up concerning midi timing etc, quit and re-intall your midi drivers from the latest update at the manufacturers site. Then try Logic again after rebooting.
    Hope this helps.
By the way, it took me 2!/2 hours to do all theat, so patience is needed!
    best regards
    martin
When Apple finally get round to sorting out what is causing this they may do a patch update. In the meantime this was how I got back up and running.

  • Logic 7.1 + OS 10.4.7 + Digi 002 problem

    Hello!
    I have a problem.
I just updated my OS to 10.4.7 and to Logic Pro 7.1
At the same time I uninstalled Pro Tools LE 6.4 (which I never used, only used the drivers for the Digi002) and installed Core Audio 7 instead.
Now, the Core Audio Manager can find the Digi 002, but logic, logic setup assistant cant find it. I have unplugged it, deleted preferences files and other things, but nothing seems to help.
    Anyone got any suggestions?

Are you sure that you are using CAD 6.9.2 with OS
    10.4.7?
I read on Digidesigns website that 6.9 will not work
    with 10.4
Try reinstalling all of it,but before you do...uninstall all of it...and double-check to make SURE there is nothing left of Digidesign's software anywhere...a pain..but worth it.Also, run your maintenance scripts before the re-install,and then immediately after.
Then...run PROTOOLS first...and set it up correctly.DON'T run Logic first...Then run your AMS (audio-Midi setup) and make sure you have all your harware set up there, and choose under Audio devices to use Digi as the default input and output, but your system's sound can be left as internal.
logic pro should now see the Digi interface. This is due to logic looking at AMS for info as to what audio interfaces are there in the system to begin with.
    I hope this helps you,
    Nick

  • Has anyone gotten the Digi 002 to work on Mavericks?

Has anyone gotten the Digi 002 rack to work on OSX Mavericks?
I know it says '002 rack and console are not supported (untested)' according to Avid's site, but I was curious if anyone has got it to run.
I am currently using Logic Pro 9 with it right now under OSX 10.8.5, but would like to upgrade my OS. (Logic Pro X is out until I can find a reliable 32 bit bridge for all of my plugs.)
    Thnaks in advance.

the folks at Spashtop sent me a note indicating that its possible to get it to work remotely but they werent particularly clear as to how - especially with an aitport express
heere is the note they sent - but some of the urls dont resolve

If you are attempting to connect your home computer via 3g or outside network, you will need to get another external ip address and do 3 ports forwarding on router as this link described:

  • MacBook Pro/ProTools version to use with Digi 002 (or switch to Logic)??

I was in the middle of a recording session using a PowerBook running ProTools LE7.4.1 with a Digi 002 interface when my drive crashed (techs are telling me it was just old age).  I realize now I was playing with fire using 5-6 year old equipment & should have upgraded my set up before I invested time in this project, but unfortunately, I did not (kicking myself repeatedly).
Now, I'm hoping to upgrade to a MacBook Pro & would greatly appreciate any advice on the ideal set up to continue work on my prior PT 7.4.1 sessions that have been saved on an external drive.  Specifically:
Is there a version of ProTools compatible with both MacBook Pro/Lion AND the Digi 002?  From what I can gather PT LE8 may be the best option, but I'm hesitant to go through an expensive computer upgrade & still work off of such an old version of PT
I am a long time ProTools user but have been hearing great things about Logic.  Is Logic compatible with the Digi 002?  Probably an obvious question, but am I going to find Logic is generally more Mac friendly than ProTools?  Also, is it possible to import the PT 7.4.1 sessions on my external drive to Logic?
Lastly, will the 13" get the job done, or should I go for the 15" ??
    Many thanks
    L

if you can go to the 15 it will make your life easier editing and and you can shove more power in it

  • Stopping the buzz on my audio tracks for my digi 002 rack

So i've got a digi 002 rack and i've got logic pro 7. I've hooked up my rack to logic and it picks up all the audio tracks. However, as soon as i set it up every track has a crazy buzz that peaks the gain. Can anyone give me any tips of advice?

sounds like there some kinda loop going on... Logic can be a bit touchy... seems I learn something new about it everyday. i still think it's the best one out there. I can't wait to upgrade to vs. 8
I ran Logic 7 on my MBox - there's "something" about that digi and core audio. just guessing - I guess

  • Getting inputs on Digi 002 to be seen by Mac OSX Core Audio

My question revolves around getting step-by-step intructions for getting inputs to be recognized by Digi Core Audio.  Microphone is not recognized when plugged into Digi 002.  Working with a Digi 002, MidiMan 4x4, and Mac OSX Lion and using Logic Pro9.  Can someone please tell me why computer is seeing the Digi 002 but is not seeing the microphone (inputs)?  Do I need to set something up differently in the Mac Core Audio?  Or did the PACE extensions I downloaded for userlok, or whatever that's called, mess up
    the audio/MIDI configs?

hey thomas.. im using a Mac pro as well.. i had the same problem .. you need to purchase pro tools version 1.1 .it has whats called a Universal Binary Update.. it was made for intel macs... . it costs around $75 .. install it.. then goto the digidesign website and install the 1.1CS1 (customer service 1 update) you will need an authorization number.. which will come with Pro tools 1.1 you purchase.. i know it ***** to have buy pro tools software again... but its the only way... good luck!

  • Is Logic Pro X compatible with Digi 002?

Is Logic Pro X compatible with Digi 002?

It s a problem for me to upgrade from my  late 2007 macbook Core2Duo 2,16ghz system running snow leopard and protools 7.4.2 through digi 002 rack, Command 8 and emagic Unitor 8mk2, to my new  macbook pro i5 2,5ghz...
I chose this MBP cos it has both firewire and thunderbolt BUT... people told me digi 002 would only work as a 16 input channels. No way to  use the ADAT inputs from the digi... And to me it s the most important thing : i need the extra 8 inputs and mainly use the digital mixer convertors instead of the digi 002 convertors. So haow about you?  does the adat work properly ?
Another problem : command 8 seems not to be supported either.
so before buying logic pro x , i need to know if it s gonna work normally and completly : spdif, adat and analog input, midi /i/o AND  command 8 integration.
I m not sure it might work either on Avid software  ( a shame !!)
I m ok to work again with logic after my 7 years using only protools IF i dont have to buy another audio interface and another  midi controller...
here is the link for the last driver :
    http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/download/Digi-002-003-Drivers
here is a link for the command 8 drive rfor those who are lucky enough to have a protools 10
    http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/download/en379411
How is it possible that an "upgrade"  finally results is a downgrade, as my new system cant match with  the old one...
Unitor 8mk2 is perfectly working on 10.8.5 hop eit will work on 10.10 either...

  • Using Digi 002 rack with FCP

Does anyone have experience with using a Pro Tools Digi 002 rack with Final Cut? I'm having some trouble making it work. I just want to be able to use during editing for audio output. The 002 shows up as viable device in audio/video setup, however, FCP claims it only has one output, instead of the 8 it has. Really, at this point in time I'd be happy with 2 channels recognized, but I certainly would like to stay away from mono. Any ideas?
    --Justin S.
    I'm running FCPHD 4.5

I think your best bet is to contact DigiDesign. I have run several searches on the FCP forums and SoundTrackPro forums for you. Nothing came up that indicates the device you are using works with FCP but I didn't read 'em all.

    Ej
    int Entero;
    char EnteroConvertido[6];
    sprintf(EnteroConvertido,"%d",Entero);

  • FCP and digi 002

I would like to use my digi 002 control surface with FCP 6. I see it as an option in settings, it starts the digi 002 "working..." but hangs up there. Anyone successfully doing this?

Have you checked the Avid/ Digi site? May be some helpful info regarding drivers.. I know there was a problem a year or so ago, don't know if it was remedied.

  • Digi 002 Rack or Mackie 1220 FW for use with LP7

Anyone got opinions on which would be a better solution for use with LP7? Sound wise, reliability, converters, etc. It's a little off topic, I know, but couldn't think of anywhere else to ask. Or if anyone else has better solutions in that price range, please chime in.

don't get the digi 002. unless you like unreliable drivers, flakey performance particularly when it comes to trying to run with low latency. not to mention mic pres that are on the bad side of average and pretty ordinary sounding converters.
I don't know anything about the mackie, but I could suggest looking at what RME and metric halo have to offer. very high quality sound and much better stability with core audio.

  • Selecting between ADAT and S/PDIF using DIGI 002

Been using the optical input on my DIGI 002 for 8 ch ADAT. When connecting a CD player (S/PDIF) how do I tell Logic8 or DIGI002 to switch to stereo S/PDIF? Can't find a Digi002 Hardware Setup.
I don't have Pro-Tools installed because my version (6.2.2) is to old for 10.4 (right?).
    What to do????

Thanks for the reply! I made a mistake. My CD player is not using the phono S/PDIF but the optical in that I normally user with my AKAI DR16 ADAT optical interface.

  • What mixers I/o controllers work well w logic ? Similar to Digi 002

What mixers I/o controllers work well w logic ? Similar to Digi 002
I'd like to work on a control surface w good mic inputs and maybe motorized faders like the 002 for pro tools

Do you have a frame of reference for the mic pres? I have an M-Audio 410 firewire and I don't care for the mic pres or for the two segment metering. I am not bashing, I like my M-audio controler and the 410 is great for the money and the drivers have been very stable. But I'd like to know if the pres are better on the Project Mix and if the metering is better. For the bucks it is a nice controller, but I really need better pres first, so does this seem to have the same mic/instrument preamps as the other M- Audio interfaces? Or is it an upgrade in all categories?
