Digidesign 7.4.2 drivers kill GarageBand even when removed

I have an original M-Box (2007) came with Pro Tools.  Loaned it & just got it back.  Found iLok software and digidesigh Core Audio 7.4.2 drivers.  Installed & Audacity works perfect with the M-Box.  garageBand does the following.
1. takes about 15 sec & activity monitor show re 'not rsponding'
2. After 5 minutes GB loads & looks OK 9select start a get tracks etc.
3. Then get "MIDI timeout' & GB starts taking 100% CPU resources & just hangs.
4. I force quit GB
5. Removed all of the Digidesign drivers.
6 get same 1-5 above.  M-Box is Not connected.  Tried re-install GB tried shut down, etc.
Any thoughts?
THx,
Carl  MacBook Pro OS X 10.7.5 Lion

I tried replacing my new library with my old one. iTunes hung about 75% through converting the old library.
Did I mention that once I force quit iTunes, I can't restart it, nor can I shut down or restart my computer.
I have to power cycle the machine.

  • Hi, can someone help me how can i connected my multimeter to my pc with rs232, because my computer can´t recognize the device, i mean the multimeter, is a multimeter keithley serie 2400, and i already downloaded all the drivers for labview even the VISA

hi, can someone help me how can i connected my multimeter to my pc with rs232, because my computer can´t recognize the device, i mean the multimeter, is a multimeter keithley serie 2400, and i already downloaded all the drivers for labview even the VISA

    Marco,
    Here are some suggestions:
    1) Check the manual the Keithley manual to see how to configure the RS-232.
On some models you need set Factory defaults to USER and turn on the RS-232.
Also there may be a setting for SCPI which you want on (probably on by default).
    2) On your PC - open Device Manager. See if a COM port exists and is functional.
You must get this working before continuing.
You can set the COM port parameters by right clicking and selecting Properties.
(On some PCs the onboard ports can be disabled in the BIOS)
    3) If step two was OK, open MAX (Measurement and Automation eXplorer).
On the left side, click on Devices and Hardware.
        Click on Serial and Parallel.
Go to the COM port you found in Device Manager.
        Open a VISA Test Panel.
Now I don't have one I can look at right now, so this is general idea:
Configure the COM port to match the Keithley settings (should be OK if step 2 worked)
Go to the (I think) Input Output tab (you want to send a command)
The command string input should already have a *IDN? entered, if not, type it in.
Click on the Query button to send the command and check the response.
If you get an ID string back (Company name, Model, FW Version ...) then it works.
(Disregard an error saying it did not get enough charcters back.)
    I hope this helps,

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

  • Can't Select Epson 3880 ABW [even when printer manages colors]

I can't seem to figure out a problem I'm having trying to print using ABW mode on my Epson 3880 from LR5.3 - it is greyed out an inaccessible.  I'm familiar with the safety net that precludes double color management when LR is set to print with a profile.  But even when I have output set to "Managed By Printer" I still can't access ABW.  It's grayed out.
    What am I missing here?

Is there a way to start from scratch in the driver settings?
Here is the Epson-Apple driver fix hocus pocus which is to delete all instances of Epson printers from System Preferences>Print & Fax.
Then go to /Library/Printers and toss the whole Epson folder.
Toss LFP Remote Panel (IF you are using this utility for your printer).
    Then reinstall drivers.
When you go back to Print & Fax to add the printer, on 10.6 I had to wait almost a minute before the IP version of the printer showed up, whereas the Bonjour one shows up right away. Then add the IP instance of the printer. This is for printers on a network.
Then re-install LFP Remote Panel if you use it with this printer.

  • Flash Player playing multiple sound feeds at once...even when browser is closed

I recently updated my Flash Player to 11.3 (most recent version). When I go to a site which utilizes Flash (e.g. YouTube), I will start the video, and then about 10 seconds later, I get multiple sound feeds at the same time. They all sound like commercials, or tv channels. Even when I close my browser, the sound continues. When I open my sound mixer, there is a "program" listed of "winrscmde" which is playing the various audio channels all at once. When I go into the task manager, "winrscmde" shows as a svchost.exe *32. When I stop that service the sound stops. It will start again when i access a flash site. When I uninstall Flash Player 11.3, this stops.
    I'm running Windows 7 - 64 bit with latest updates. IE 9.0.8112.16421
    Any help would be appreciated.

Well, I think I fixed the problem.
    I found this topic:
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic442928.html
About the second post down, the poster recommends downloading TDS killer as winrscmde.exe is disquised as svchhost.exe in the \windows\system32 folder (you have to click on "Properties", then "Details" tab and check the original filename...if it's bogus, it'll say winrscmde.exe as the original name).
I also ran the aswMBR program as well as FixTDSS (http://www.symantec.com/content/en/us/global/removal_tool/threat_writeups/FixTDSS.exe).
That seemed to fix the issue. Just reinstalled Flash and don't get the same issues. The svchost.exe in the \windows\system32 folder is legit!
Hope that helps anyone else with the same problem.

    Hi Arti,
You may want to check out how to use JDBC Datasources intead of the JDBC URL to connect to your database at the OC4J level. This method will manage the number of open db sessions that the OC4J can access. It is normal to have the sessions connected even after the browser has closed. It actually saves processing on the database because you don't need additional resources to open sessions, and you're reusing technology on connection management that is part of the database DNA. It is designed this way so that the OC4J can reuse existing connections for performance reasons among others.
To do this on ADFBC, these are the files that you'll need to modify:
    1) data-sources.xml
    2) bc4j.xcfg for every application module to use JDBC Datasources instead of JDBC URL. (Right-click, configuration on the AM)
However, for testing, the business component browser will need to use the JDBC URL connection.
    I hope this helps.

  • Qosmio F50-10Z - fan cycling on and off even when idle

My f50 is constantly turning the fan on and off every couple of minutes, even when the machine is idle and has not run any applications.
SpeedFan shows that the GPU is cycling constantly between 55 and 65 degrees C even when there are no apps running (e.g. just after booting) - the fan kicks in at 65, turns off at 55 and then slowly heats up again. The fan noise is noticeable (I don't think it is going full speed, though), and it is a bit abrupt and annoying to be happening constantly and doesn't seem like normal behavior. Core 1 and 2 on Speedfan are cycling between 40 and 45 C
Outside temperature is 20 degrees, so the environment is unlikely to be a factor. I've air blasted the fan for dust (as much as you can seeing as the f50 isn't built to be taken apart by a Home User), but even when the fan is running the output doesn't seem noticeably hot.
I'm am only running toshiba drivers from the website (currently 7.15.11.7590)
My main concern is that this will negatively impact the life of the fan. Am I being overly picky or is there something I could be doing?
    Thanks for any advice

    Thanks for the reply Lars_3.
The notebook came with Windows Home Premium pre-installed - I haven't replaced the OS at all, though I have created a recovery disk at the urging of OS when I first booted it.
The BIOS is up-to-date as I use the Toshiba Tempro service (which again was pre-installed) and occasionally check with the website to make sure I haven't missed anything. I don't like the idea of installing drivers or anything else not released by Toshiba as I've seen people mentioning overheating shutdowns (at much higher temps) from using non-f50 drivers. I regularly keep the base elevated to enhance air circulation, and clean the intakes with compressed air, but it doesn't seem to make much difference.
Everything else works perfectly (and I'm a happy customer) except for the noise factor of the fan switching on every two minutes during even light use (not even 3d game use, which I assume would utilise the 3d card more and be expected to come with greater fan use).

You can leave the charger plugged in, as you cannot overcharge...charging automatically stops when your battery is full. Once every 2 ~ 3 months, its a good idea to drain the battery to about ~ 40%, then recharge to full. Otherwise, you can charge whenever you like & leave connected whenever you like.
Try to avoid full battery discharges, Lithium batteries don't like that & frequent full discharge/recharge cycles will eventually kill your battery.

  • Only internal mic reords even when line in selected

    Hi all
I hope some one cane help with this frustrating problem, I have purchased a 15" MacBook Pro with 2gig HDDR, I have recorded guitar successfully in the past, but recently updated GBand to 3.0.4 (104.7) now when I select an instrument channel, it only records from the internal Mic even when I select, Line In from the System Prefrences, the input registers on the input level meter in the system prefrences pane, but not in the Garageband mixer display, and when I press record GBand only records from interlnal Mic. I have selected all inputs on track info, and have moved slider as far as I can, but still no sound is registered on track, I did notice when I came back to do some more work on one project a panel popped up to say that song had not been saved in iLife? it asked if I wanted to do so so I pressed ok, hope this did not cause problem?

You have to select line-in in GarageBand's
preferences. (That's a difference between Intel Macs
    and Power PC Macs.)

  • Mini fan runs even when turned off

Yesterday the fan started running loudly (seemingly top speed) and it won't stop even when the computer is turned off (only way to kill it is to pull the power cord). The vents on the bottom have a bit of fuzz on them, but nothing outrageous. Other than working on the motherboard (which I'm not capable of doing), what can I try? I did reset PRAM...nothing changed.
    Thanks!

Is the power/sleep light on or off when the Mini is "off" but the fan is running?
If the light is "on" in some fashion, can you start the Mini by pressing the Menu button of your Apple Remote once?
If you can't do this, I fear you have a logic board problem similar to the one first diagnosed by brisbanebazza:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9524465#9524465
Unless you know someone who can do electronics soldering, generally the fix for this would be to replace the logic board, which is usually too expensive to be economical in my opinion.
BTW, no harm in gently vacuuming the fuzz out of the vents, with the Mini closed up, not open.
After you vacuum, you might also try something wacky: try running the mini upside down for a short period of time.

  • Cluster Anomaly: WLS hogs CPU even when no clients

I was just running a test and just need some comments on the following:
I have the following hardware config:
              Browser -> Machine1(M1) -> Machine2(M2)
              M1=Solaris
              M2=NT Workstation
.M1 runs WLS 5.1SP5 as webserver in proxy mode using
              "...weblogic.servlet.internal.HttpClusterServlet" with
              "...defaultServers=<M2>:...'
.Basically just one machine in the WL cluster.
              .M2 runs WLS 5.1SP5.
When I use the browser (on a 3rd machine) to hit a servlet on M2 via M1,
everything is fine. I get the expected servlet response.
However, when I hit the same servlet many times at a fast rate for about 10
secs and then stop, I find that the CPU activity on M1 and M2 is about 90%
and 50% respectively -- even AFTER I've stopped hitting the servlet. This
unexplained CPU activity by WLS continues indefinitely. And I'm the only user
on these machines and have verified that there are no other processes. I
verified that it is WLS causing the CPU activity (using "top" on Solaris
and "NT Task Manager" on NT).
After I kill the WLS on M1, the CPU activity on M2 returns to zero.
              - What's going on?
              - What's WLS doing even when there are no requests hitting it?
              - Is this a bug?
Seems to me that WLS goes into some sort of infinite loop communicating
with machines in the cluster when it is stressed under the given config.
The 2nd issue is: Why is the performance with a proxy so much
worse than if I had hit the servlet directly on M2?
I.e. Without the WLS proxy, I get, say 240 pages/sec.
With the WLS proxy, I get only 60 pages/sec.
              Any clues?
How else can I tune WLS to perform better aside from
doing the stuff recommended in the tuning sections of
              the docs?
Any insights will be most appreciated.
              Thanks.
              -Heng

on nt you do a ctrl break.
On solaris you do a kill -3 pid

  • Problem with Garageband 11 when recording Vocal, always "Follow tempo...

    Hi!
Every time i try to record vocal in Garageband 11, it automatically selects "Follow tempo and pitch". Even when I turn it off, it always turns on when I start to record, and then always is checked. I always have to uncheck it later when I already have recorded, and then my audio seems somehow a little bit altered because I recorded with "Follow tempo and pitch".
Anyone know what the problem might be?
    Cheers

No, he's just making a point repeatedly: checking this box doesn't alter the vocals, neither the original recording (which is never changed by any effect or manipulation) nor the playback. What might have happened is that you either changed the tempo or key of the song, or you happened to play with the cursor in the Editor pane which might have pushed some audio around. Or you made another track the groove track so the vocal track tries to groove along with it. The checkbox alone doesn't do anything.

  • ITunes on my iMac seems to think my iPhone is connected and tries to sync even even when it is not.

iTunes on my iMac seems to think my wife's iPhone is connected and tries to sync even even when it is not.  This has been going on for a couple of years now and I am finally trying to stop it. I launch iTunes manually to sync any number of devices we have in the household and, at least every third time I launch iTunes, it pops up my wife's iPhone and start spinning around as if it is connected and syncing but it is not.  This happened to me today when my wife and her iPhone were not even in the house or even the same city for that matter!  Oddly, she recently (finally) upgraded from an iPhone 3 to a 5 assuming that would finally stop it but it just kept on happening.  Anyone have any idea how to stop this?  Thanks!
    - Matt

    You might start with:
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu.  Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order.  If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time, then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar.  Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process.  See if that helps.  Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
If the above reveals nothing helpful, then create a new user account. Log out of your account and log into the new account. Do the problems cease?
