Digital Adapter DCT700

We switched to FIOS around in June 2008 with a DVR box on the main tv.  This made my other tvs inoperable, although one was a new digital.  We had been hooking up by just using coaxial cable and no boxes on these other tvs.  When I called tech support, they said I could have up to 3 digital adapter boxes free.  I ordered them and the shipping date on the order was July 1, 2008.  My husband just handed me our latest Verizon bill and wanted to know why this bill was higher than last month.  Apparently, we lost some promotions, but I noticed that we were being charged $3.99 x 3 for these adapter boxes.  I know I was told they were free, but today the Verizon billing department said they weren't at that time.  If I had known that I was going to be charged, I never would have ordered the ones for the cellar room and for the bedroom.  Does anyone know when these adapters stopped being free?
Sue

Sue,
You got the DCT-700s a year ago and they just started charging you for them now? Wow! Did your bill show a credit for each of them each month, or were they just not on the bill at all until now?
The "free" digital adapters were available in areas where the analog signal was being removed from FiOS so the adapter was required to get the digital signals after that. There were specific time frames for different areas of the country that the free offer was made, as the analog signals were being removed. Any other time they were not free, although I have seen some posts where people were able to convince Verizon to give them some free ones even outside the terms of the promotion - maybe you got yours that way? I of course don't know.
I have one free DCT-700 that I got when the analog stuff was dropped from FiOS in my area (North Texas). Every month it shows on my bill as $3.99 and then a credit for $3.99. My most recent bill which I just paid yesterday was still the same. As I remember the promotion, the DCT-700s would remain free as long as we kept our FiOS TV service, and so far mine has.
So, I guess the issue is, were you in an area where the free offer was made, and did you take advantage of it during the specific time frame it was available. If yes, then I think they should remain free. If not, I think you are stuck.
Good luck.

  • Periodic signal loss on DCT700 digital adapter

Our kitchen TV is connected to the FiOS ONT via a basic digital adapter (Motorola DCT700/US). On some TV channels, the sound disappears and the picture freezes for up to a few seconds at regular intervals.
The problem affects only channels 11 through 25, as far as I can tell (I didn't try every single one!). It occurs at the top of every minute, at the instant when the on-screen clock display rolls over to the next minute. Sometimes the event lasts for only a second or so, in which case the sound resumes and the picture unfreezes after the interruption. If the signal loss persists for longer, I get a gray screen with a message that "the channel is having technical difficulties" before the program resumes. Either way, it's very annoying.
If I'm watching the same channel via the SD set-top box in the living room, or via either of the CableCards in the TiVo DVR, there is no interruption of sound or picture.
The DCT700 was installed and activated by the Verizon rep as part of my FiOS installation two weeks ago. I don't recall the problem showing up when he performed his final checkup before leaving, but it's possible we chose channels outside the range mentioned above and/or weren't watching the TV during the fairly short time interval during which the problem occurs.
I tried disconnecting the power adapter from the DCT700 for about a minute, but the problem was still present after the DCT700 restarted.

I pulled the plug and re-plugged all 3 adapters and none of them show a channel number.  Very odd.  And none of the of the manuals even reference the problem to find out how to correct it.
Do you have any idea why I'm not getting channels like CNN?  Am I supposed to be getting channels like CNN?
The "trick" of unplugging should resolve the channel display issue (it only shows up for a short period in the bottom left of the TV screen immediately after changing channels).
As Matcarl said, if you are not getting all the SD channels you are subscribed to you need to contact Verizon as the boxes have apparently not been provisioned correctly.

  • How do I use a digital adapter to content from my iPad mini on to a TV?

I have 32in Sony TV, an iPad Mini and a Lighting Digital AV Adapter.  I tried to get content from the iPad mini to my TV but the digital adapter only transferred the sound.  I used the adapter on an iPhone 5s, and it got both sound and video.  Why doesn't the Digital adapter work with the iPad mini?

    Thanks for your reply.
However, I am not talking about Apple TV.  I got the adapter to mirror material on my iPhone 5s to the Sony TV via the digital adapter, whether it was email or a movie, but it would not do the same with an iPad mini.  I am trying to find a way to mirror without Airplay. I use a Virtual Private Network for streaming some entertainment and other materials but sometimes the wifi transmission is uneven. I can get the material on the iPhone or iPad with no problem.  When I switch to Airplay, the transmission becomes unstable the picture lags or freezes.  Doesn't happen without Airplay.  So I bought a digital adapter, and it works fine but only for the VPN transmission on an iPhone 5s. Why does the iPhone 5s work with the digital adapter but the iPad mini does not? The digital adapter is an A1438.  I would like to get it to work with the iPad also.

  • Recording to VCR using Digital Adapter

I've been kicking around getting the digital adapter instead of the STB for 2 of our TVs (they're in an office and guest room).  I understand we wouldn't have the interactive guide, PPV, etc.
BUT- what I don't know is can you schedule the VCR to record with the digital adapter without first changing the channel on the digital adapter?
For instance, can I schedule the VCR to record channel 15 at 8pm and channel 72 at 10pm without user-intervention between the 2 recordings?  How does the digital adapter get it's channel changed first to 15 and then later to 72?
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    The short answer is no...
The digital adaptor, if you dont get too technical, is still just another cable box.  IT decodes and then sends the signal to the VCR so as far as the VCR is concerned it cannot tell the difference between the STB and Digital adaptor. So you have to set your VCR to record channel 3 and then set the adaptor to the channel you want recorded.
Now I'm sure there is a way if your bound and determined by getting things like IR blasters and remote channel changers and whatnot but your looking at more equipment and probably getting further into it than it would be worth.

  • Question about the digital adapter

    Hi-
Fios just came to town and we have a Tivo HD so cable cards there, so that's what we'll order.  We also have an old analog TV in the bedroom with one of the government subsidized $40 converter boxes on it so we can watch OTA TV.  My question is- do I need to order the digital adapter as well, or can the FIOS coax go through the $40 converter box?  Just to watch local or basic- I know we won't get HD or premium.  Just need something to watch while we fall asleep....
Next question- I've read this forum and seems to be problems ordering initial service WITHOUT ordering a STB as well.  Is that still the case?
    Thanks all!

Fios won't work with the government box, those are for OTA only. If you want to watch Fios channels, you'll need the digital adapter or another one of their boxes.

  • AV digital adapter (MD098ZM/A)

Try to get a brand new (from Best Buy) AV digital adapter to play Netflix using an iPhone 4 and then later using an iPhone 4S.  It worked brilliantly (very sharp) with both phones - but only the first time.   With all subsequent attempts I would get "This video monitor is not supported." while using the same HDTV which initially worked great on with both phones.
I then tried it on two other HDTVs with worse results.  Neither work properly, the first one only detect a signal briefly and then stated there is no signal while the other one briefly shows the Netflix screen but refuses to play.
The adapter did have an Apple cube power connected to it in addition of a HDMI cable while all this is occurring.
The iPhone 4 was at iOS 7.1.1 and the iPhone 4S was iOS 8.0.2.

This is like the holy grail of iPhone functionality. It is technically possible but doesn't fit Apple's (and/or Amazon's) business model, so will probably never see the light of day for that reason alone.

  • AirPlay Mirroring and Output via Digital Adapter at the same time

    Hello,
Is it possible to use AirPlay Mirroring to an apple tv and the digital Adapter at the same time?
We want to get the Screen on a beamer and a tv at the same moment.
If this isn't possible are there any chances to get AirPlay mirroring working on two Apple TVs at the same time?
We are using the newest iPad Air
    Greets

Unfortunately not. One output is supported at a time. But perhaps you can use some sort of an HDMI signal splitter? I've not tried it, and perhaps it won't work at all, but you might try outputing directly to a splitter that then can be connected to both a TV and beamer.

  • THE AV DIGITAL ADAPTER MODEL IS MC953ZM/A

THE APPLE AV DIGITAL ADAPTER MODEL IS MC953ZM/A.
DOES THIS ADAPTER WORK WITH THE IPOD CLASSIC 2012?
SO I CAN CONNECT TO A TV WITH A HDMI CONNECTION?

As SteveJobsFan0123 has said, I've answered you multiple times.
NO, the Apple Digital AV Adapter will NOT work with the iPod Classic.
Please stop posting questions about this, Gene.

  • "This channel is having temporary technical difficulties" Digital Adapter

Hi, I have recently received my digital adapters in the mail and in order to install these on the other tvs, I have used splitters on the Coax cable that plugs into the STB we had previously installed in the living room. After this i had one coax into the STB and another into one of the digital adapters. For some reason, the living room one is working, but the basement one we just tried to install is not working and is getting the message "This channel is having temporary technical difficulties." It might also be important to note that this setup did work for alittle then stopped working. I have tried reactivating and resetting the digital adapter, none of these worked. Does anyone know any possible solution? thank you

Yep, after signing up last night and testing the online player successfully earlier, it comes to the game now and all I am getting is either an error message or I am just being 'logged out' and bombed back to a log in screen again!

  • Does the av digital adapter work

No, it works on HDTVs with a HDMI connection.
Not every television is HD nor has HDMI.

  • Free Digital adapter

How do you order a free digital adapter? I logged into my account but don't see any link to order it

Yea right after my order of the "FREE" digital adapter, my billing was all messed up. Took me almost three months and they never did fix it. All they did after I talked to 5 people and then a stupervisor was, give me credit for a year of the $3.99 free as a credit on my bill. I really love the service as far as the technical end, but there deceptive and crooked billing practices need to stop. I asked them how my 2 year package could have switched my internet to month by month with no package credit for internet when it is part of a package that is shown on my bill. I have never paid them late. Don't expect anything for free. Finnally they sort of fixed it, and gave me the new package that costs $5 more. It seems as though they can break agreements anytime they wish, and when you catch it they tell you it cant be fixed because that package agreement is no longer available in the system. DON'T EXPECT ANYTHING FREE! Unless you plan to pay another way. I guess if half the customers get it free and the other half gets screwed it cuts their costs. I am not the only one this has happened to. Just search the blogs about billing. Many people do not look closely at their bills, so installations of new fiber gets paid for by the billing mistakes in their favor. I bet this gets sensored or I get a nasty reply!
One last thing. I did call and it still happened to me and worse as you read.

  • Digital adapter and invalid format with Sony bravia tv

I recently purchased an iPad 2 and the digital adapter so I can play what's on my ipad2 on the tv.  I have a 26' Sony Bravia tv model kdl-26m4000 and when I hook up the iPad with the digital adapter with a hdmi cable the tv says "invalid format".  I somehow got it to work once but I can't get it to work again. I tried the adapter on another Sony Bravia tv that is 52' and it connects without a problem. I also used it on another Sony tv while on vacation without a problem. Does anyone know why I can't get it to work on my tv. The 52' Sony Bravia tv that it works on is older then my tv so I'm not sure what the problem is. I took the digitl adapter cable back to apple to get a new one and it still doesn't work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Dsaamgel24-
The mention of VGA was to give you something to look for.  It is not likely that an HDMI port would have that problem!
For purposes of troubleshooting, you might try swapping the HDMI ports.  If both ports work the same with both the iPad and the Blu-Ray, then there is probably nothing you can do to make the iPad work with that TV's HDMI.
Does that TV have any other video inputs?  Apple also has adapters for VGA, Composite and Component Video.  They will not have as high a video quality, but may work.

  • Digital Adapter Enhancement

I have Limited Basic Service with the Family Tier option.  My main TV uses a digital set-top box and my secondary TVs use digital adapters.  When I signed up for these services, I understood that I would only be able to get the get the Family Tier and Basic Service HD channels on the set-top box.  On July 14th, I received a letter that I should now be able to receive the Family Tier channels on the TVs using the digital adapters as well.  This has not happened.  When I called Comcast, they didn't know what I was talking about when I asked about the new digital adapter enhanced service.  Any suggestions on how I resolve this problem?  Thanks

Kudos to Dan in the Clinton, CT office for learning that the Comcast letter that was sent to me in July announcing that the "enhanced service" in my area was now available, was sent prematurely.  The enhanced service, which will allow me to receive the Family Tier channels with my digital adapters, will not be available in the Old Saybrook, CT area until sometime in September.  I can only wonder how many other subscribers in my area were also sent the same Comcast letter?  Thanks again, Dan.  Allen
