Digital audio streaming from Nano

I own a 2nd and 6th gen iPod Nano.  Is there a way to stream ditgital audio content from the Nano bypassing it's internal DAC?  I'd like to deliver the digital signal directly to my Audio system and allow it do the digital to analog conversion.  Thank you.

I did come across a device offered by Wadia, the 170iTtansport.  This device is advertised to bypass the digital to analog conversion and analog output stage from the iPod.  A great idea!!!  I’d like to use my iPod as a high fidelity audio server, delivering uncompressed WAV files to my audio system.  I was hoping that a device like this would not be necessary, that I could achieve the same results with just a wire from the iPod to the DAC in my audio system.  Is it possible that Apple could make this possible with software on the iPod?

    Muneer-
What App are you using to get the audio stream?  Safari should work unless Flash is involved.
I have used the free NPR App to listen to radio stations, but I don't know if it works with TV stations.

  • Home Theater need. Multiple Audio Streams from 1 card or possible to use 2 car

I currently have 2 SB Li've's installed and a SB Audigy in the box.
I would like to be able to send different audio out to different devices. I need to send audio from a game interface called MAME 32 to a speaker system connected to the PC. I also use this PC as a home theater PC and want to send audio from my DVD playing software out to my TV(in analog stereo mode) and/or to my receiver(in Dolby Digital mode using the digital connector).
I would like to be able to run these seperatly without having to go into the Control Panel and switch the default sound card like I am doing now. I do not need to run them at the same time.

Bummer. Are you guys working on something that might have this capability? Seems to me that the closer we integrate PC's into our entertainment systems the more need we will have for the ability to do multiple audio streams, i.e. MP3's to the living room. DVD movie audio to the family room, XM radio classical station to the kitchen for mom etc..
Intel is offering this as an onboard solution that has the ability to do at least 2 different streams.

  • Losing Digital Audio Ouput from Mini SPDIF

I have a 2010 Mac Mini connected to my HDTV/AV Receiver. I send digital audio to the av receiver with an optical cable. I have sleep disabled for OTA DVR. I have not tried to see if it will wake the mini to record.
I have it working, but often upon using the mini the next day, the device changes away from the Digital Out to the Soundflower 2 channel output device. This virtual output is used by one of the rogueamoeba applications to catch audio streams.
At night the AV receiver is turned off, so the mini may think the digital output has failed and does some sort of failover to the next device.
    Any ideas?
    Ebola.

  • Why doesn't/When will Apple TV support 24/192 audio streaming from iTunes???!  this is needed badly.

apple tv truncates and resamples all files from itunes to 16bit/48k.  this is losing a large amount of audio information and very unwelcome for even neophyte audiophiles, just those of us who enjoy good music.  as music lovers we are forced to hop skip and jump around itunes and use other audio interfaces that don't play well with airplay or itunes and aren't nearly as flexible.  (like sonos or naim, or similar)  all just to get our higher rez music files to play at their intended bit depth and sample rate.  i have tried many solutions for this issue and still the very best would be to have apple make apple tv (which many of us use to stream audio) and the airport express output digital audio at full rates, ie. 24/192.  even 24/96 would be a very very welcome upgrade.
SO, APPLE, PLEASE PLEASE.  LET'S DO THIS.  WITH THE VERY NEXT ITERATION OF ATV.  PLEASE!!!!
    thanks.

You have posted to the iTunes Match forum which your comment is not related to. You might want to do a search on the iTunes for Mac forum to see the previous discussions on this topic.

  • Digital Audio out from Airport's USB?

I don't yet have the means to try it out, so does anyone know if this can be done? I'm getting active monitors with an onboard dac, but only usb input. The manufacturer says the speakers can get digital audio from a Mac mini usb, but is it a different story with the APX?

Why do you think it wouldn't, by the way? Printers
are "plug & play" so if the monitors are, why
wouldn't the system preferences offer the same
possibility as a usb port on the mac itself. They
have a Mac mini feeding digital audio via usb just
    fine... they say.

  • Preventing Digital Audio Out from "Sleeping"?

I'm using the mid 2010 Mac Mini and digital audio out.
My receiver is showing the loss of digital audio signal when the mini hasn't played a sound for awhile and then comes back when audio is played.
I loose about 1 second of audio though when this happens which is bad for quick sounds. Subsequent sounds play fine until it "sleeps" again.
In Windows it keeps the digital signal live at all times which is what I want in Snow.
    Is this possible?

You should only experience a delay when you switch to a new source of sound. Such as first starting playback in itunes, or first start Pandora, or just starting to watch a video clip.
This is because OSX typically only outputs a digital bitstream when there is an actual audio bitstream source currently "playing."
I regularly see my Denon receiver indicate a loss of the audio bitstream and then indicate when it starts up again. I have not experienced a problem because of this.
I suspect your particular receiver is slow to respond to new bitstreams. I have two suggestions to help mitigate this:
First, it might help to lock your receiver to the optical audio input (for that particular source selection). Since the receiver is likely simultaneously monitoring the HDMI, coaxial and optical inputs for a new bitstream, this could cause a delay in its reaction to a new audio stream.
Also check the receiver's manual and see if there are adjustments for its digital audio behavior. Disable any buffers or processing effects or "enhancements."

  • Transferring audio books from nano to iTouch

Can anyone give me any pointers on how to transfer audio books from the Nano (5th gen) to put them on my new iTouch? I have tried dragging and dropping (doesn't work); copy and paste to a computer folder and the Touch (doesn't work) and I don't know many other things which I can't get to work either. I upgraded to the iTouch for more room and I hate to lose all the audio books I still have on the Nano. Naturally, I don't have the files on my computer any more. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

There are many ways to transfer audio files from an iPod. Start here:
    http://www.metaphoriclabs.com/articles/5-ways-to-copy-music-off-your-ipod-window s-mac-os-x/
For files that have protection, you can burn them to DVD then rip them. This works but it's cumbersome if you have to do it for a lot of files.

  • Digital audio out from ipad 3?

    Hello there,
I have an ipad 3 (30 pins connection), running on iOS 6.1. I also have an external DAC/amp that I use for my PC. My question is, can I use the external DAC with my ipad? Meaning I want to extract the raw audio data from my ipad, and process it externally on my DAC.
I've searched the internet, but the answers just went north and south. Some say I can, with the camera connection kit (using the USB female plug). Some say I can't, must be an iDevice with lightning connector. Some say I can, but I must upgrade to iOS 7.
I've tried using the camera connection kit, plugging the DAC/amp to the USB input of the CCK. I do get sound from the connection, and it does sound different than compared to the LOD, but I don't know if it's different because it's using the external DAC, or the external amp.
Can anyone tell me, if what I'm trying to do is possible with the 30 pins connection? Or are there any ways to know/test if the sound I'm hearing is processed by ipad's DAC or my external DAC?
    Thank you in advance.

    Sure I did.
In bios it just mentioned onboard audio.

  • How to get a digital audio stream out of an iPad mini?

For the latest batch of devices that sport the new Lightning connector, is there a supported way to send S/PDIF PCM digital audio to a DAC or home theater receiver? There were docks for the traditional 30-pin connector that do this, but these are now presumably orphaned?  Also, there was a trick with the Camera Connection Kit (CCK) to get USB audio, which would be fine too, but I'm not sure that can be done anymore.
So, do we need to wait for 3rd party docks and connectors to come to market, or is there an official Apple way to do this already?

i would carry to an apple retail store to fix it.
    Peace, Clyde

  • Issues w/ iPod audio streaming from iPad 2 to AppleTV 2?

Are there known issues with streaming music from iPad 2 to ATV2 via AirPlay? Streaming the exact same music at the exact same bit rate from my iPhone 4 works flawlessly. However, from the iPad 2, 256K MP3s are extremely choppy -- whether I'm using the iPad or not.
Video streaming from the iPad is flawless. The network is fine. And like I said, the iPhone 4 handles streaming from the iPod app perfectly.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

Good signal strength is not necessarily an indication you don't have issues with your network. Any devices that are capable of being connected by ethernet and with in close proximity to each other should be.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.
