I do video productions for a small local TV station. I use Final Cut Express to edit. I need a new video camera but am at a loss as to what to buy. I know I will get a digital camera but do not know the difference between just digital and digital HD. Also, I can not afford an expensive camera and need some advice on which of the available cameras would be best and also work well with a Mac. One last issue, I currently use a Panasonic #CCD camera that takes a tape. When I load video to Final Cut the audio and video are out of sinc. Go figure. Can anyone help with these questions. Karen

    Hello Karen,
If you are using Final Cut Express, then look for camcorders that are AVCHD camcorders.  Look especially for the AVCHD logo and specific mention of AVCHD in the specs.  Most of the major manufacturers produce good quality camdcorders - Canon, Sony, etc.
Also, be aware that there are a lot of "not quite AVCHD" camcorders on the market (sometimes they say they record video as MPEG4-H.264/AVC) - buyer beware!
Most everything you are going to find on the market today is HD, which stands for "high-def".
Regarding your question about the Panasonic camcorder, it's best if you post that as a separate question, and please identify the specific model camcorder and the Easy Setup you are using in FCE.

  • Digital or Digitized Signatures

    Hey -
Doing some research, as we're looking into having digital/electronic signatures perhaps for documents that require multiple signatures within the company - save money/etc.
Has anyone ever looked into or discovered products that will also allow a signature to appear on a Purchase Order generated (or RFQ or Blankets) within Oracle prior to printing? We are hopefully soon looking at not printing and faxing, so I am tasked to see what the possibilities are.
Any help would be great! Kind of on my own for this one...and can't get clear answer from signage suppliers.

I think it would be better to delete this video and do it all over again in a more fluent way. The guys on stage are hard to follow (low volume), they never heard of "Reflection" (a simple app to put the iPad's screen on the big presentation display through AirPlay), and the previewing is cumbersome (could be up and running within 2 seconds in stead of 5 minutes).

  • Placing Text With Digits - the Digits Come Out in the Wrong Language

I am using CS4 ME. When I place English text from Word into InDesign, the English text comes out okay but the digits in the text come out in Arabic. In the character menu, the setting for the digits is "default". When I set the digits to be in Arabic, they come out in English (1,2,3 and so on). How can I make it right so that the default will be 1,2,3..... and when the setting is Arabic in the file it will be Arabic?

Digits respect language settings, so if the paragraph is marked as English, you'll get correct digits for English. Farsi, you'll get correct digits for Farsi. Set the digits for "Default" to get this behavior.
However, note that the proper name of digits used by writers of English and European is Arabic digits, and the proper name of digits used by writers of Arabic is Hindi digits. This is because Europe got all of its upper maths from the Arabic world (when they had a flourishing civilization and Europe was hella barbaric). If you look at it, algebra is obviously an Arabic word (al-gebr).
So if you mark digits as "Arabic" then they will be 1,2,3 even if it's Arabic text marked as Arabic in the paragraph style. Trust InDesign's default language settings here.

  • Significant Digits to Digits of Precision by default?

    Howdy,
Is it possible to set the default precision for front panel numerics to, say 4 Digits of precision, instead of 6 Significant digits? I prefer digits of precision, and I always have to change each and every control and indicator. Is this selectable somewhere?
    Thanks!
    B-)

I agree it would be useful to set global defaults for formats and other cosmetic properties.
I typically want a fixed decimal resolution and the numbers right-aligned. I will never understand why all numerics are left-aligned.
If I change an integer to hexadecimal or binary format, I want it padded with zeroes on the left and the default number of digits corresponding to the data type (e.g. U8: 8 digits for binary and 2 digits for hex).

  • Good will hunting digital copy not showing up on apple tv

I downloaded and redoes loaded good will hunting digital copy, included in my bluray.
Well for some reason, good will hunting won't show up on my apple tv as purchased like other movies do.
I know fox/universal digital copies won't work for now, but why doesn't good will hunting show up?
    It's a miramax/lions gate film.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Same problem here, (and I know exactly what you are talking about).
So as directed by AppleCare Technical Support (I have AppleCare on all my Apple products), I sent the following e-mail to the iTunes support page that they directed me to, "All my other successfully redeemed digital copies/digital downloads through iTunes/iTunes store show up in my iTunes purchased movies in the cloud, except this one, "Good Will Hunting."  I got the same message from the iTunes store saying it was successfully redeemed and it downloaded to my iMac but for some reason this is the only movie that is not showing up in my iTunes purchased movies in the cloud and all my other successfully redeemed digital copies/digital downloads are, so I don't know what the problem is at this time.  I hope you can resolve this so that I may enjoy this one from the cloud as I do all my others like this, thank you in advance so very much."
I am suppose to hear back from them within 24 hours, I hope it is resolved ASAP.  If I can I'll try to let you know what happens.

  • I forgot my digital signature password. How do I create a new one with the same email.

I can not remember my digital signature password. I've attempted to create a new one with the same email address. The message I receive is that i already have a digital signature with that email. I would like to use the same email address.

You probably mean that you forgot your digital certificate password and I presume that this is a self-signed certificate that you yourself created, not a certificate that you received from a Certificate Authority (CA). If this is true then you can create a new self-signed digital certificate (Digital ID in Acrobat-speak) the same way you created the first one: In Acrobat XI it is Edit->Preferences->Signatures->Identities&Trusted Certificates->More. Then click on "Add ID" button and follow the prompts. You can create as many self-signed certificates with the same credentials (name, email, etc.) as you wish. You'd have to figure out how to distinguish them, though.

  • Digital Signatures on TechNet Gallery - thoughts?

I've recently obtained a code-signing certificate from DigiCert (who are awesome, and offer these certs for free to MVPs for personal use), and was thinking of going back and signing the various bits of script that I've posted to the TechNet Gallery. However,
most of these posts are code fragments (individual functions, etc).  The intention isn't that the user will run them as-is, but just copy and paste the code into their own modules, profiles, scripts, or whatever.
This means that my signature would be thrown out anyway before the code is executed, but there may still be some benefit in verifying, at the time of download that the code hasn't been modified in any way since I originally uploaded it (say, for instance,
if someone manages to gain unauthorized access to my Microsoft account or the TechNet Gallery in some way.)
The only one I've signed so far is the Enhanced Script Logging Module, because that is uploaded as a zip file that contains, among other things, a compiled DLL.  Not only is that one intended to be run as-is, but it's also harder for people to
verify that the DLL file is safe to run.
What do you think?  Worth the time to go back and sign / re-post everything else?

    Hey Len
there is an internal mailing list for Oracle folks - drop me a mail for it.
that said, the standalone release of Publisher supports a site wide(no support for user digital signatures) digital signature that will be added to all PDF documents that BIP generates.

  • Digital Signatures in PI sheets

    Hi Guys;
Can anyone explain how to assign Digital Signatures to PI sheets & what are the settings required.
    Thanks in Advance;
    Rajesh

    Hi,
For Including Digital Signature in Browser Based PI Sheet You have to configure below mention Steps,
    1) Authourisation Gourps
    2) Define Individual Signatures
    3) Signature Strategy
    Path For Above is
SPRO -> Production Planing for Process Industries> Process Management -> Contorl Recipe/PI SHeet-> Digital Signatures.
Now creating Signature Strategy you have to assgin that Strategy in your Process instruction Catagory followed by Process Massage Characteristic PPPI_SIGNATURE.
Kindly followed The Below Link it will helpful to you for configuring Digital Signature,

  • Restricting application of Digital Signatures

    Hello,
I am trying to determine what options are available natively in Acrobat for restricting the type of certificate that is used for applying a digital signature.  As far as I can tell, Acrobat, by default, seems to allow the use of any certificate which has the "Digital Signature" extension.  This has the potential to create large problems in a regulated environment.
In my organization, our users receive multiple certificates for different applications.  For instance, a user may have a certificate for VPN access, one for SMIME email and finally, one that is specifically for applying eSignatures.  There is a more robust vetting process for obtaining an eSignature certificate, and it also prompts for a passphrase each time the private key is accessed.  Each type of certificate comes from a separate CA.
We've configured the Trusted Identities in each user's Acrobat by deploying an addressbook file to them.  We've only defined our eSignature CA as a trusted CA in Acrobat (along with some other universally trusted authorities).  The result is that when a signature that has been applied using any other CA, Acrobat will not verify the signature.  This is good, but it is not good enough since the dynamic images that come with Acrobat digital signatures do not appear on printed or flattened documents.
Basically, I'm trying to determine whether there is a way to configure Acrobat (natively, out-of-the-box) such that it will only allow application of digital signatures using certificates that are issued from a CA that is defined as a Trusted Identity.
    Has anyone encountered this before?

    Hi Mike,
The short answer is yes, you can restrict signing to a certain type of certificate. However, you do need to be able to edit each PDF file that needs to be signed.
To expand a bit, the process is know as applying a Seed Value. There are two different types of PDF files and they each have a different method of applying Seed Values. If the PDF is an XML template that was created using LiveCycle Designer, then you can apply the Seed Value to the signature field using the Designer software. On the other hand, if the PDF file is the more ubiquitous AcroForm (e.g. you converted a Word Doc to PDF), then you have to use JavaScript to apply the Seed Value.
Before I get into the specifies of applying a Seed Value, first here is what a Seed Value can do. Among other things, you can use Seed Value to restrict signing to:
    a specific user's digital ID
digital IDs issued by a specific CA
a digital ID that has a specific key usage value (it sounds like this is what you are looking for)
If you need to use JavaScript you are doing to want to review the published JavaScript guide. You can find the guide online at http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhel p.htm?href=JS_API_AcroJSPreface.87.1.html#1515775&accessible=true and search search for Seed Value. More specifically, you are looking for the JavaScript call signatureSetSeedValue and the section (about half way down the page) CertificateSpecifier Object. At the bottom of the page are examples of how to set the certspec object.
If you are using LiveCycle Designer you need to display the Object pallet. Select the Window > Object menu item to get the Object pallet to display. Then, select the signature field that you want to apply the Seed Value to, select the Signature tab in the Object pallet, and then click the Settings button. This is the dialog you use to apply the Seed Value.
Good luck and let me know if you need more help,
    Steve

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • IPod Touch Digital Output to Stereo Digital Input

Is there a way to connect an iPod touch to the digital input of a stereo amplifier? All the iPod connectors I've seen, including those for the universal dock, connect to stereos using analog RCA plugs. I'm trying to find a true digital to digital connector cable - without spending hundreds of dollars for one of the digital docks I've seen advertised.

Is there a way to connect an iPod touch to the digital input of a stereo amplifier?
There is no digital output on any iPod including the iPod Touch. Both outputs (via headphone jack and dock connector) are analogue.

  • TDMS digital data

    Hello,
we are developing datalogging system for our customer and we need to save analog and digital data to TDMS file. There is probably no problem with analog data streaming. But on the other side writing digital data inside TDMS file looks like a problem... So we tried to use background streaming (DAQmx Logging) where size of file is acceptable (8xDI(1B) x 512samples + TDMS header). But we need to log analog and digital data with timestamp channel so we can not use DAQmx background streaming instead we must program our application. When we used TDMS write for digital waveform, digital data result in TDMS viewer and DIAdem is OK but file size is (8x1B for each digital channel). We also look at TDMS by DAQmx logging where internal file structure (attached file  tdms_tsdata.png) contains parameter NI_DigitalLine which is bit in data byte index (i think). Another parameter is NI_DataType = 5 (UInt8). From these two params I deduced some ideas and do some tests with unsatysfying results. Only one of tested ways was to write direct UInt8 of DI (entire port) to ensure file size ... 8xDI=1B x samples. However those TDMS can not be correctly read by TDMS Viewer as structure of digital inputs but only as number.
Is there any chance to write manually and effectively digital data in TDMS file (like DAQmx logging)?
Thank you in advance for any hint.
    Michal.

    Hi kel072,
You are right, you can not write just as one  byte and expect Diadem, or TDMS file viewer to interpret directly as 8 lines boolean data.
This is an expected behavior because there is no information about the number of lines.
    Therefore, I have two suggestions:
    1. You can build your custom TDMS file viewer (pack your data as u8 bit, transfer it into the TDMS file and later build your own VI that will read from TDMS, reconstruct the data in boolean 1D array and display the data). In this scenario, Diadem will still not be able to interpret them as 1 bit data.
    2. Write your data to a binary file in the format you specify. Then you can read it directly in LV or any other programming language that supports that format, or you can build a data plugin for Diadem that will allow it to interpret the data in the particular way you want ( and use it for your application). This method requires the most programming but gives you the most flexibility (packing data, display in Diadem, display in LabVIEW etc).
Check the links bellow for more information on the data plugin:
